Chapter 13
“Inuyasha…” Sesshomaru whispered. “Brother… if this is what must be done for you to remember me… let it be done.” Sesshomaru closed his eyes and waited.
“I give you the punishment of DEATH!” Inuyasha prepared to trust the sword in Sesshomaru’s neck.
“INUYASHA!” Inuyasha stopped mid strike when an unearthly feminine voice called on to Inuyasha. Time stopped and Luna appeared by Inuyasha’s side she hold on to Inyasha’s arm.
“Goddess Luna? Grand mother? Why-?”
“Stop Inuyahsa. Stop.”
“But this demon tried to bring Philander, my beloved, to hell!” Inuyasha said as he tugged his arm from Luna’s hold.
“No Inuyasha!” Luna stopped him. “I am sorry my grandson… but this demon… is your brother.” Luna said in an almost pleading voice.
“What! Grand mother-“
“Hear me out Inuyahsa.” Luna cut in. “Inuyasha… I made you forget that he’s your brother my grandson … I put you under a spell... a spell that can protect itself from being dispelled. The only thing that can break it is when you spill Sesshomaru’s blood… but Inuyasha… I can’t let you kill your brother, I maybe cruel in keeping you from your true family but never can I let you kill your brother.”
“Grand mother Luna…” If what she is saying is true then… Inuyasha said to himself. Inuyasha raise his arm and slashed it at Sesshomaru’s neck.
“INUYASHA NO!” Luna called on to him.
Blood started to flow down from Sesshoamru’s neck even as time stood still.
“Inuyasha! What have you done.” Luna said in dread.
“Do not worry grandmother I did not kill him… yet. If spilling of his blood will break the spell it will after I did this. But it seems…” Inuyasha said as he watch blood drip from Sesshomaru’s neck to his chest. “it seems that what you say grand mother is not true…”
“The spell is working so that Inuyasha wouldn’t remember.” Luna said to herself “Inuyasha.” Luna called to Inuyasha that has his back on her.
“Yes grandmother Luna?” Inuyasha said as he turned to look at Luna, then out of no where two angels hold on to his arm stoping him from moving. “What is this?! Grandmother Luna!”
“Inuyasha.. you can’t remember because of the spell…” Luna said as she approached Sesshomaru. She dipped her finger on the wound and smudged blood on her finger tip. She approached Inuyasha and wiped the blood from her fingers to Inuyasha’s fore head.
“Grand mother! What are you doing! Let me go!” Inuyasha said as he tugged his arms from the angel’s hold.
“After I release you from the spell and I awaken your youkai Inuyahsa.” Luna backed three steps and chanted “I call on to the slumbering youkai deep within Inuyasha… awaken!” with that Inuyasha was engulfed in red aura and the angels were thrown away. “youkai.” Luna called on to Inuyasha.
“It’s been long… too long my goddess…” Inuyasha said his in a low guttural voice, his head bowed down.
“With the power of a goddess and the blood of a demon on your forehead…” Luna was cut when Inuyasha’s youaki interjected.
“What goddess? What do you ask from the one you locked up for hundred of years?” Inuyasha looked up to Luna with crimson eyes.
“I want my grandson to be safe.”
“Safe? From who goddess?”
“From demons!”
“Ah… demons you say? But that same as the demons you despise… I am a demon too.”
“But you’re different Inuyahsa! You’re my-“ Luna was cut short when Inuyasha interjected.
“Grandson? Family?”
“Inuyahsa! I did it because-“
“You love me? Goddess do you show your ‘love’ by taking me away from my true family and locking me up and in the end letting me kill my brother?”
“No… no my grand son you misconstrue…”
“Do you show your ‘love’ by letting me kill my own brother?”
“No Inuyasha! That is why I came! I came to fix this before it’s too late!”
“Late? ‘Late’ goddess? After all the years that had passed you dare say ‘before it’s too late’! Many had perished, my real father is now dead because of this war, and I almost killed my real brother and you say ‘before it’s too late’?!”
“I am sorry my grandson I am really sorry…”
“Sorry? SORRY GRANDMOTHER! What does your apology bring?! Can it bring back the lives of the ones that are killed in this war? Can it bring back the life of my father?! How do you think I would love someone I know killed my own father?!”
“I am sorry grandson I am really sorry…” Luna can’t hold on to her bearings and lumped to the ground and sobbed. “I am sorry my grandson… I just wish that you would be safe… I don’t want you to die like Izayoi did when she chose to stay with the demons… I just wished you to be safe…” Luna said as she sobbed more. “I am sorry… I thought I could make things better for you my grandson but it seems that my interventions made it much worse…” Luna looked up when she felt a hand on her shoulder. She looked up to see a smiling Inuyasha.
“Now I understand grandmother… please stand.” Inuyasha said as he helped his grandmother up.
“Inuyasha.”
“I understand grandmother… I just wished that you let destiny do it’s job…”
“I am sorry… Inuyasha…”
“Yes I know grandmother… I know… It is never too late grandmother… let’s remove the spell shall we?” Inuyahsa said as he smiled to Luna and Luna did the same.
“Yes my grandson.” Luna nodded.
Inuyasha was a fair distance away from Luna as Luna chanted to finish the breaking of the spell.
“With the power of a goddess and the blood of a demon on your forehead…, I ask of you youkai to break the spell… the spell that made my grandson’s life miserable… from the goddess of the moon I commend you!”
A seal appeared in front of Inuyasha as he was engulfed in red swirling aura. The blood from his forehead glowed and formed a Red Crescent. A stripe in his right check appeared the same as Sesshomaru’s and his elven ears disappeared and appeared his dog ears atop his head, his fangs elongated and his claws became more pronounced.
“It is done my grandson…” Luna said in finality and once again time moved.
