Understanding.

A/N: Glad you are enjoying it.

Breakfast was quite interesting the next day. Inuyasha was smirking evilly at Miroku, and even Sesshoumaru cast some interested looks at him, especially when Suzuka came into the room. Rin prattled on as usual, not noticing the smirk on her father’s faces or the crimson blush on the visitor’s cheeks. Suzuka and Sakura swished about the room, attending to their needs, and Sakura graciously attended to Miroku, as Suzuka probably not would have been able to for kissing him.

“Houshi-sama.”

Miroku looked up from his saucer of white tea. “Yes, Lord Sesshoumaru?”

“Do you have intentions toward my Suzuka?” He raised an eyebrow when he heard a cup rattle in her hands.

Miroku looked at Suzuka and grinned with a nod. “Yes.”

Sesshoumaru nodded and briefly looked at Inuyasha before nodding again. “As long as it does not affect her chores, I shall permit this.” Suzuka and Miroku both bowed, and Sesshoumaru nodded again. He stood to leave, and then paused, turning around half way.

“And Houshi-sama?”

Miroku looked up from his tea. “Yes, Lord Sesshoumaru?”

“The next time you and Suzuka decide to have intercourse, I’d appreciate if you refrain from marking each other so. You are not youkai. Your necks look as if you have been throttling each other.” He smiled to himself as he turned to walk away, listening to Miroku strangle on his own spit and his brother and daughter’s laughs.

“That was funny this morning, Shou.” Inuyasha and Seshoumaru sat out on the patio, watching Rin and Sakura play with the marbles, Rin angrily screaming when Sakura’s marbles pushed further than hers.

Sesshoumaru smirked and ran his fingers through his lover’s hair, the strands feeling like warm water over his hand. “Nothing happens in this house that I don’t know about.”

Inuyasha groaned. “You sound like father. Don’t talk back! This is my house and you will do what I say! Sesshoumaru, damnit! Inuyasha, shit! Sit your asses down! Shut the hell up! And…”

“CLOSE MY DAMN DOOR!!!” Both brothers yelled in each other‘s faces, falling back, laughing hysterically.

“Those were the good old days, when I wasn’t pregnant,” Inuyasha stressed, poking at his stomach. Sesshoumaru stopped laughing and frowned.

“Why do you make such disparaging remarks? It makes me wonder sometimes if you want the baby…and me.” The youkai muttered softly, looking away, arms folded. Inuyasha looked at him, and was immediately sorry for his poor word choice.

“I didn’t mean it like that. Honest,” He pleaded, touching his brother’s hand. Sesshoumaru slightly nodded, but moved his hand away, keeping his head turned. Inuyasha almost cried.

“Don’t be like that, Sesshoumaru. I’m sorry, really. It’s just I’m in constant pain and those stupid herbs from that fat hag Midoriko are not working anymore. But I’m stupid and sorry for hurting you.” Inuyasha stood and walked around to face his brother, who wore a surprising but extremely sad look on his face. He cradled Sesshoumaru’s face in his hands, rubbing the magenta stripes with his thumbs and smiled at him. He rubbed their noses together, and felt his heart beat faster when the youkai reached for him, pulling him into his lap and giving him a gentle kiss on the lips. The kiss was slow and smoldering, Sesshoumaru lazily dragging his tongue over Inuyasha’s lips, only to periodically dive into them to taste his mouth and slip back out, teasing both of them.

“I mind being pregnant still, but much, much less when you kiss me like that,” Inuyasha whispered in a husky voice, his forehead pressed against his lover’s cheek. Sesshoumaru replied by kissing him again deeply, picking him up bridal style to carry him into the castle.

Rin paused and looked at Sakura curiously. “Are they going to fuck?”

Sakura’s mouth dropped open. “Who taught you that word?” She demanded, unsheathing her tanto.

Rin giggled. “You did!”

“Oh.” Sakura pouted and sheathed her knife, chuckling when her marble went further than Rin’s and the girl started back screaming.

Suzuka paused and smiled when she felt strong arms wrap themselves around her waist. She had been in the kitchen, preparing sticky rice with bean paste, as for some reason it helped to soothe Inuyasha’s stomach, and she wanted to make as much for him as possible. She moaned when she felt a hot mouth close down on her neck and tilted her head over willingly.

“I couldn’t help but see you in this huge, lonely kitchen, and I had to come and touch you. But please, madam, don’t tell the lady I am courting. Her name is Suzuka and she would be very upset,” Miroku whispered, moving his hand to the woman’s butt to grope.

Suzuka whirled around and Miroku feigned shock. “Oh no! It is the lady I am courting! I am so ashamed!” He cried, placing a hand to his head in distress. Suzuka laughed and lightly punched him in the stomach, making him fall over and sprawl out on the floor. She prodded him with her foot, making him wail in faux pain.

“I am sensitive! Like the baby chick that just hatched! Please, no more!” He begged, trying to tickle her leg.

Suzuka was unmoved. “Go hatch yourself elsewhere. I have to fix dinner. Go away!” She half giggled, half yelled, pushing him away and holding a rice covered spoon at the door.

“May I have a kiss before I leave?”

“No!”

“Please? Pretty please with mochi on top?” Suzuka couldn’t resist the clasp hands in prayer or the huge doe eyes.

“Okay, one kiss.” She burst out laughing again when Miroku puckered his lips comically and closed his eyes, looking like a fish. She very gently kissed his lips, and they remained like that for a moment, lips pressed together with stupid smiles on their faces.

“I feel wonderful. Thank you, Suzuka,” Miroku whispered, face red with glee. Suzuka nodded and turned him around and shoved him out of the kitchen.

“I have to fix dinner now, okay?”

“Okay.”

She paused. “Okay, so leave.”

“Okay.” The monk didn’t budge.

“Miroku!”

“Okaaaay!” He stuck his tongue out at her and dodged the rice ball she threw at him. He blew her a kiss and picked up the rice ball, eating it as he went off to his room.

“You often test my patience, Inuyasha.” Sesshoumaru lay beside Inuyasha, one hand propping his head up, the other hand lazily drawing circles on the flat muscled stomach.

Inuyasha frowned. “Whatever. You test mine.” He yelped and glared at Sesshoumaru when he dug a sharp nail into his bellybutton.

“If I ask you something…will you oblige me by answering?” Inuyasha turned his head to stare at golden eyes intently fixed on him.

“Eh…it depends on whether the question is gay or not.”

“Gay?” Sesshoumaru’s brow furrowed. How could a question have a sexual orientation?

“Gay. As in stupid or pointless. Like Jaken. He’s pretty gay.” Inuyasha explained. Sesshoumaru smirked at the example.

“You have a strange context for your words. But I have a question that is not gay. I guess it would be straight, maybe?”

Inuyasha laughed and the confused expression on his brother‘s face. “Never mind, just ask the damn question.”

Sesshoumaru took in a breath. He didn’t want to ask, but his inner possessive youkai had to know. “If Kagome had not sent you away that day, would you have ever willingly come to me?”

Inuyasha’s face fell and he averted his eyes. “No.” He reply was as soft, but stung like a dagger piercing Sesshoumaru’s heart.

“Why.” The word was harsh and one of his trademark questions phrased as a sentence.

“What good would it have done to come to you? When could I have ever come to you?!” Inuyasha sputtered, feeling cornered. Sesshoumaru gave him an ugly look. Inuyasha raised his hands in disgust. “You hated me, Sesshoumaru. Don’t lie and say you didn’t. What could I have come to you for? To have yet another door shut in my face? No thanks, buddy.” Inuyasha went to turn away, but his face was grabbed in a strong hand, and instinctively he grabbed his brother’s wrist to free himself.

Sesshoumaru glared at him, angry, but not sure why. He didn’t know whether to be angry at Inuyasha for having totally rational feelings about him, or angry at himself for asking a question he already knew the answer to. An irrelevant question at that. Inuyasha raised a challenging eyebrow.

“Were you expecting a different answer?”

“No.”

“Then why are you looking at me like that?” Inuyasha’s voice had a slightly shrill pitch to it, one that made Sesshoumaru’s head ache.

“Because. It saddens me that but for a small twist of fate, we may not be here.”

Inuyasha stared at Sesshoumaru. “All that life is are small twists of fate! Didn’t you know that by now?” The smile creeping across Inuyasha’s face somehow seemed to comfort Sesshoumaru. He was right, but he was also wrong. It was true, he had pushed Inuyasha away countless times, but he could now only speculate it was more out of fear of rejection than anything. It sickened him to think of the time they had wasted, but just that quickly realized that no one ever got anywhere living in the past. His mother sure didn’t.

“I am sorry.” Sesshoumaru released his grip on Inuyasha’s face and started to move away from him, only to be grasped and have his lips pulled down on to his lover’s. Inuyasha kissed him and wrapped his arms around Sesshoumaru’s strong back, reassuring him greatly. They were both so hurt and so unsure, but the one thing they were sure of was the fact they loved each other and nothing and no one could come between them. Sesshoumaru moved his head down to rest on Inuyasha’s stomach so he could listen to Hime move and plot her world domination from safely inside of her father. Soothed by the smells and sounds of each other, both of them nodded off to sleep, glad to have a clearer understanding of their feelings.

*************************

Tenchi looked greatly annoyed. There had been heavy traffic in the way of visitors to the castle, and all of them were pissing him off. The girl that Lord Sesshoumaru hated so was there, along with three ookami, and his naginata itched to slice through them.

“You are not getting through. Take your smelly asses back to the cave you came from!” Tenchi yelled, twirling his naginata above his head and pointing it at Kouga. The wolf prince looked unimpressed.

“Hey, you can’t talk to him that way!” Ginta yelled, jumping in front of Kagome and Kouga.

“Yeah, doncha know who he is? He’s Kouga, the Wolf Prince! Know your place!” Hakkaku yelled, jumping beside Ginta.

Tenchi looked to his left and then to his right. He appeared as though he was confused and looking for someone. Ginta and Hakkaku narrowed their eyes warily.

“Hey guard! Eyes on us! Whatcha lookin for?”

Tenchi continued looking around. “I was looking for the people who told you I gave a fuck about who you are,” He said flatly, giving the group and ugly sneer.

The wolves prepared to charge Tenchi, but a hand on both of their shoulders paused them. Kagome gently squeezed both of them and moved past them, nearly chuckling. They had become quite protective as of late, and it was a truly endearing quality.

“Guard, I implore you, if I may talk to the master of the castle. He and I are friends, and I must speak with him.” She frowned when Tenchi laughed.

“You? And Master Inuyasha? Friends? You put those stupid beads around his neck! No, you are no friend of his, and I dare not let you pass.” Tenchi made himself swell as large as possible, his blade gleaming in the light.

“Oh well…looks like we can’t pass…I guess we gotta go home,” Kouga said in a sing song voice. He turned to leave, but grabbed Kagome and ran, shooting past Tenchi in a blaze of dust and pebbles.

SHIT!!!“ Tenchi yelled, coughing from the dust. When the smoke cleared, the two ookami that had yelled so boldly at him were looking alone and nervous, and the black haired one and hussy girl were gone. Tenchi looked at Ginta and Hakkaku and screamed a battle cry and charged them as they screamed in fear and ran away. Tenchi gave chase, yelling and waving the naginata in the air.
******************************

“So where do we go from here?” Kouga mused, holding Kagome up over his shoulder, exposing green and black polka dot panties. He was standing in the middle of a courtyard, plush and green with foliage. He paused when he heard voices, but unfortunately, there was no where really to hide.

Sakura and Suzuka paused at the two strangers a few feet in front of them. One was definitely a wolf; it was easy to see by his pelts. There was something that he was holding over his shoulder, something that looked like…KAGOME?!!!

“Bitch!” Sakura yelled, running toward Kouga. He watched the ample bosom bounce as she hurled herself towards them, and dropped Kagome from his shoulders as he caught the healer and spun her around several times, wrapping his strong arms around her.

“Kami-sama…where have you been all of my life?” Kouga mused, staring down at angry violet eyes.

“Get off of me you dingy wolf!” Sakura cried, her fists beating Kouga in the head. She tried to unsheath her tanto, but couldn’t reach due to the awkward position Kouga held her in. He took the opportunity to grope as much of her as possible before feeling something sharp poking at his head.

“Kouga. Nice to see you. Unhand my servant.”

Kouga laughed nervously. He had been so enraptured by Sakura’s beauty that he didn’t realize that both Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru had been alerted and were standing in the courtyard with them. Tessaiga gleamed against Kouga’s neck, and one false move would have had his head rolling, literally.

Kouga gently set Sakura down, to which she quickly spun and bashed him underneath his chin with the heel of her foot. The poor wolf’s feet buckled beneath him and he bent backwards halfway, but then sprang back up, looking directly in Sakura’s eyes. He sprayed the thick blood in his mouth all over her face, making both her and Suzuka gasp.

“We youkai are free with our blood,” Kouga said jaggedly, realizing as soon as he opened his mouth that his jaw was broken. Blood oozed from his mouth and dripped off of Sakura’s chin, and when she turned to Inuyasha, he felt his stomach lurch. She looked like one of those shockumentary films he watched with Kagome once that showed a man that had been shot in the face. Gruesome.

Inuyasha lowered his blade and glared down at Kagome, who seemed to be taken in by the violent display. “Why are you here?”

Kagome quickly stood and smoothed out her dress, ignoring the disgusted look from a woman who’s face was ironically covered in blood and spit. “I came to talk with you, Inuyasha. May I?” She had sense enough to direct the question to Sesshoumaru with averted eyes.

The youkai smiled. She did not come to start any mess or upset Inuyasha and Hime. Inuyasha noticed the cold smile and met it with a look of confusion. Sesshoumaru waved his hand toward Kagome and looked at Sakura and Suzuka briefly before walking away, his servants in tow. Sakura glared evilly at Kouga before walking into the castle and slamming the door.

Kagome let out the breath she had been holding in. She looked up at Inuyasha and gave him a small smile. He looked great, healthy, ruddy, and was more fleshy than before. His face looked neutral, although it had a slight look of warmth as he looked at Sesshoumaru leaving.

“So Inuyasha how are you doing?” Her voice was nervous and a bit squeaky.

“I’m fine, Kagome. I’d be better if this bastard cousin of mine would leave.” His words were directed at Kouga, who slightly bristled.

“Cousin? I would not be related to some filthy, disgusting, brother-fucking half breed!” Kouga mumbled and glared at Inuyasha, his fists balled.

Inuyasha smiled coldly. “I’d rather fuck my brother than fuck you,” He said pointedly, bouncing on his toes. Kouga smirked.

“Just be lucky you are pregnant, hanyou.” He moved his chin around in his hand, his jaw already fusing back into its normal place. He nodded at Kagome and sauntered off to find Ginta and Hakkaku.

“So…” Kagome trailed, toeing a rock near her foot, looking down.

“So.” Inuyasha returned the word, his voice sounding more confident than ever.

“The rumors about you and Sesshoumaru expecting aren’t rumors at all. You really are pregnant?” Kagome asked, turning expressive eyes toward Inuyasha. She looked hurt, and he felt a small pang of guilt.

“Yes. He and I are expecting…a girl.” Inuyasha didn’t mean to sound hard edged, but cut and dry seemed appropriate. His head was slightly bent, as he was trying to avoid looking at her head on. He didn’t want to see how upset she was.

“Oh.” Kagome lowered her head again and clasp her hands in front of her, shaking slightly. “Why didn’t you come see about me?” She whispered, on the verge of tears. Inuyasha’s eyes widened.

“But I did! Sakura and Suzuka thought they saw you dead in the woods, but when we went to see, it was another girl that was wearing your clothes. I did…do care, Kagome,” He murmured, looking up and meeting her eyes.

Kagome nodded. “Someone stole my and Sango’s clothes recently. I had told you about it, but I guess you weren’t listening.” She ran a hand through her raven hair and burst out crying, shocking Inuyasha.

“Why? Why did you go to Sesshoumaru? I could have given you everything you needed…wanted…whatever! What can Sesshoumaru offer you that I can’t?!” Kagome shouted, half heartedly shoving Inuyasha.

The hanyou raised his head and glared at Kagome. “He accepts me for who I am. I can say what I want without being hurled to the freakin ground! He loves me, despite me, and in spite of me, it’s me and this baby and we are his world. I could have never been that to you, Kagome. Never. And I realized that a long time ago, but obviously you didn‘t.”

Kagome looked faint, and nodded, lowering her head again. “Don’t you want to know why I was with Kouga?” She squeaked, her throat raw from crying. Inuyasha shrugged.

“That scratch on my arm got infected. I was going to go home and I passed out at the well. Ginta found me and brought me back, and Kouga went to Jimenji and got some healing salts for me. And Jimenji said to give you this.” Kagome reached into her bag and handed Inuyasha some fresh ginger sticks. “He said they will help you with nausea and to come see him if you need any pain medication.”

Inuyasha took the bundle, his fingers grazing over Kagome’s. “Thank you, Kagome.”

She nodded and shifted her bag on her shoulders. “Think of them as a parting gift.”

Inuyasha looked confused. “Parting gift?” Kagome nodded. “I’m leaving, going back home for good.”

Inuyasha shook his head. “Please, don’t do that. We still have to defeat Naraku! Don’t tell me you’re gonna let him get away with everything he has done to us! Please Kagome...please stay.” He took her hands in his and smiled at her, wiping away a stray tear. She was jealous and conflicted, but she had never seen Inuyasha so happy. It just hurt that the reason for the happiness wasn’t her.

“Alright…I will stay. And Inuyasha?”

He gulped, this scene all too familiar. “Yes, Kagome?”

She grabbed the beads of subjugation and pulled on them until they burst apart, freeing him from the binding spell. “Sit,” She whispered, smiling wanly when Inuyasha didn’t move. She smiled and nodded before walking away, leaving Inuyasha to rub his neck in awe.

*************************

Sesshoumaru, Sakura, Suzuka, and Miroku glared at Ginta, Hakkaku, and Kouga with folded arms. Tenchi had captured and delivered the two runaway wolves and beat them up to Sesshoumaru’s approval before dumping them off to Kouga. The wolves looked slightly uncomfortable as Sakura fingered her tanto, eyes intently staring at Kouga, more specifically the jugular vein in which she wanted to bury her knife.

The voices of Inuyasha and Kagome filled the hall and Sesshoumaru turned his head toward the voices. They weren’t screaming, but they didn’t sound warm and friendly either. When they emerged from the doorway, he noticed the beads were gone, and Kagome’s face was tear streaked. Whatever his brother had done, he was proud of him.

Kagome walked over and stood with Kouga and his troops. “I guess I’ll be staying with Kouga, since no one knows where Sango is, and I can’t stay here.”

Inuyasha nodded. “Thank you for understanding everything, Kagome. Perhaps one day we can forgive each other for the things that have happened and become friends. All of us,” Inuyasha said, directing it at Sesshoumaru. The youkai ‘humped’ and turned his head slightly. Kagome smiled and wordlessly handed Inuyasha several ramen noodle packs. He bowed his head as they prepared to leave. She briefly hugged Miroku and smiled at him before hurrying out of the castle, not looking back at Inuyasha.

“So…can I come see you again?” Kouga asked, leaning too close for comfort at Sakura. Sesshoumaru snapped his jaws and growled at Kouga, who raised his hands defensively and grinned and licked his lips at Sakura before he and his troops walked out.

Sakura stood in the middle of the hall, watching them leave. “The nerve! I should have slit his throat! I should have cut off his balls! I should have-”

“Told him he could come back.” Suzuka’s words bitch slapped her sister and the healer whirled around to see the wry grin on her face. Suzuka smiled and took the ramen packs from Inuyasha and guided her sister by the hand to help her fix dinner. Miroku smirked and Sesshoumaru gently picked up Inuyasha to carry him upstairs. The emotional onslaught of the day had visibly taken it’s toll, and Inuyasha looked as though he were about to faint. The good thing was, he was still there and didn't run off with Kagome. Sesshoumaru was extremely pleased.
