A New Ally

A/n: Sorry for the long update...school is insane, and it’s only my first week. I guess once I am accustomed, it will not seem so hectic. I am almost done with Stranded, then off to work on my report.

Kookkookkitty, I took the well idea into consideration. Thank you!

Enjoy!

Chapter 13
A New Ally

Disappointed that Inuyasha didn’t kiss her again. Kagome sighed in frustration. If she was to explain, what a government was then she would surly have to tell him, she was from the future. She wanted to strangle the prince before her; he was impetuous with his inquiries.

Grabbing a clawed hand, she smiled at him warmly. She could feel his hand close over hers. His claws traced her fingers tenderly; she could not contain her blush. “Inuyasha…? If you want to know, what a government is–I might as well tell you everything then. Even though I don’t want to! I trust you enough to confide in you.” Kagome said softly, leading him towards the old well.

Kagome chastised herself, she couldn’t believe, not just twenty minutes earlier she refused to confess anything to him. Now here she is taking a chance. Maybe, he’ll believe me. He did about college. Bringing him to the lip of the well, she sat down as he sat next to her. Taking a deep breath, she told him everything.

Kagome was also impressed with Inuyasha’s choice of questions. She smiled he was very intelligent–a fine attribute she found in men.

A gentle breeze swept by the couple deep in conversation. Kagome looked down the well with longing. She wanted to try again, but was afraid. She did not want another rejection. She didn’t think she could handle it.

Inuyasha frowned when her beautiful smile turned into something sorrowful. He knew where her thoughts now lie, as he too turned to look at the old shabby well. He sniffed the air; he couldn’t smell the lingering scent of a spell. The well just smelt musty. He heard her sigh. Looking over at her forlorn expression he asked, “Do you want to see if it works? We can try together?”

Taken back by his words, her eyes widened with anticipation. Would it work with the two of them? And if it does, will he then be stuck in my time? Well she couldn’t sit here and dwell at the thought. “What do I have to lose? Let’s do it!”

He nodded, as he watched her beam with excitement. He knew he was taking a risk, but he didn’t care, he only hoped it worked. For some reason, see her happy pleased him greatly. Extending his clawed hand towards hers, he grabbed her gently. They balanced on the lip of the well; he looked at her one last time. “I won’t let go…I promise!”

Hand in hand, they jumped into the black abyss.

Naraku sat across from Kikyo. “Do I know you?” he asked firmly. Yet in the back of his mind, there was a familiarity to the woman before him. He growled softly as the thought nagged at him.

Kikyo bowed low to the lord in front of her. “Excuse my manners my lord, but I was a servant to the King of the Western lands. My name is Kikyo.”

Kikyo- Why does that name sound so familiar? He shook his head; he didn’t have time for these tribulations. He needed to keep moving, and wanted to set his plan to motion. He patted the potion softly that been tied to his sash tightly. “You are lucky I’m in a gracious mood today. After your meal, please proceed wherever you are heading. I don’t want anyone from that kingdom in my lands.” His smile turned into a menacing scowl. “Do I make myself clear?”

Naraku stood, not caring about the scowl Kikyo now adorned. He began to walk towards his mount.

“Has it been that long my lord that you don’t even remember me?”

Naraku stopped, and turned towards her again. His curious nature was getting the best of him, pleading with him to stay only to hear her out. He thought back to the days when he worked at the palace. His eyes widening in recognition, as his tone was soft, but demanding. “Why are you here?”

“I’ve come to seek you out my lord. I was exiled from the kingdom this morning. I want revenge on Kagome and Prince Inuyasha.” Her eyes narrowed evilly. “I want that woman to pay with her life for what she did to me!”

Naraku smiled, so he wasn’t the only one with plans of retribution. He decided to stay, as he approached his last resting spot. He sniffed the air, the food smelt well. “Kikyo, you were but a mere child the last I saw you.” Of course, now she was simply breathtaking.

Kikyo chuckled slightly, “My lord you amuse me, I was but thirteen when I first met you…far from a child.” She stood and attended to the squirrel scoured on a steak as she flipped it over. “It has been almost seven years since I’ve last seen you.”

“Very long indeed…may I say time has done justice.” Naraku said smoothly. He may have been a ruthless killer. However, he was a man after all with need also. Yet, Kikyo stirred something inside him that he wasn’t familiar with. Was it lust…? Well whatever it was, made him feel uncomfortable as he tried to adjust himself to a more comfortable sitting.

“It didn’t work!” Kagome said almost frantic, as she looked up at the blue-sky overcastting the darkness of the well.

“I’m sorry…” Inuyasha said solemnly. He had hoped that the well would let her return to her time. Even if he’d lose her forever. “Come lets head back; we can return and try it again.”

“I don’t want to return…I don’t want to come back! I can never go home…,” she said, as tears freely leaked down the side of her face. She looked at the prince. “Why would I want to when all the well does is refuse me! I don’t want to face anymore rejection.”

Inuyasha embraced her as he jumped out of the well. “Please don’t cry Kagome. I am sure that you’ll eventually return to your home. Besides, I won’t let you give up.” He tilted her head up making her look at him, “Please be strong.”

Kagome wiped the stilled tears, as she nodded her head in agreement. She decided to walk back to the horse, she didn’t even glance at the well this time, she could swear that she heard the old wooden well mach her attempts. She growled angrily, as she picked up her pace.

Something sparkled in the suns golden rays, catching her curiosity. She thought best to approach it. She smiled brightly as she picked up her backpack. She growled when she could see the ground littered with wrappers. Damn vermin stealing the last of my chocolate! She thought, but happy to have the bag back in her possession. She’d completely forgot about it, and was surprised it was still there.

“What did you find?” Inuyasha asked as he approached behind her.

Kagome smiled, “I found my backpack!”

He laughed as he stole it out of her hands, investigating it. He remembered the contraption and suddenly felt bad for destroying it. He scratched his forehead, “um…I’m sorry.”

Kagome shook her head, “Don’t worry about it.” She smiled at him reassuringly. Yes, she was mad but also knew that his words were sincere. She snickered, “I guess, I’ll have to watch my clothing around you…I’d hate to see you tear up one of these dresses.” She turned her head quickly, feeing her face flush. She couldn’t believe she just said that.

She closed her eyes, suddenly fantasizing about her comment. It was a nice distraction. Inuyasha’s words soothed her. Another time, she grinned menacingly at the well. With a better attitude, she watched Inuyasha. She merely melted with the closeness of his presence. She backed away slightly. She couldn’t give into her desires for this man…no not yet! She’d been frightened from the intensity of her feelings towards him, and his, exotic animalistic behavior.

“Is that so…?” he responded huskily. Her sweet scent was tantalizing him. He needed a distraction—anything from conquering her and ravishing her across the open field.
She needed to come to him, he reminded himself. He smiled wickedly, watching her blush, even more. He crossed his arms over his chest, as he stood confident. With an arrogant tone, he said, “Well, when would you like to accomplish this feat?”

Kagome smirked at his cocky remark approaching him. She ripped the bag out of his hands, and turned. She laughed, “your highness, you can accomplish this in your dreams.” With a grin, she purposely sauntered sexually up the hill towards the horse.

Inuyasha stood their calming himself, as he watched her hips sway. Stabilizing his demon, he took off after her. “Two can play this game, Kagome!” He laughed quietly.

Naraku took the last piece of meat from Kikyo’s offering fingers. “You said you wanted revenge against the young prince and Kagome.” He watched as she suddenly looked up, with hopeful eyes. “I also want the same.” He stuck the meat in his mouth, memorizing every juicy morsel. He made a silent note to eat squirrel more often. Licking his fingers, he watched her anticipated eyes. “If you betray me in anyway, I will not hesitate to kill you!”

“Why would I want to betray you, M’lord? For, we share the same desires.” She stood, “If you’re going, I’m going as well. My lord, if I can help in any way I will!”

Naraku smiled, Kikyo was loyal. He stood as well; he approached her grabbing her hands softly, as he kissed them. “M’lady, it’s an honor to have you as my company.” He bowed, and then led her to his horse. “We must hurry; I will discuss the plans with you along the way.”

Both secured, on the horse. Naraku kicked the side of the beast as they galloped towards the castle.
