Calling All Angels

Title: The Crow

Author: Pucie

Chapter: Calling All Angels

A/N: Ok, here ya go, another hot fresh chapter ready for your viewing pleasure! I'm going to warn you know, keep some kleenex handy for this one! The song I used in this chapter is from the Pay It Forward soundtrack. It's called "Calling All Angels", by Jane Siberry and K.D. Lang. This is not a remake of the song by Train, this one is completely different. I cried when I was typing this, you really should listen to the song, if you haven't seen the movie. Oh and by the way, some of the lyrics are out of order, but I had to do that to get them to fit with this chapter.

Disclaimer: I do not own the movie "Pay It Forward", the song or lyrics to the song "Calling All Angels" performed by K.D. Lang, and Jane Siberry

Even though Kagome seemed to be resting in peace, there was a fierce battle being waged deep in the depths of her being. She felt as if she were being rent in two.

On one side was the pure, loving power of her Kikyo, and pulling on the other side was a great darkness, the likes of which she didn't think could exist. They were fighting over her soul.

She started to regain her sense and realized she was in the anteroom of her mind, the same place she had been retreating to whenever she would speak with Kikyo.

As she sat there trying to regain her senses, she suddenly heard Kikyo calling out to her in a desperate tone.

"Kagome! You must fight. Help me fight the darkness! If we lose, you will be banished to the deepest level of Hell, gone forever from this world, and never able to reincarnate."

Kagome could only sit there, dazed, lost in the haze of unreality that was being caused by the endless darkness that was slowly but surely absorbing the pureness of her soul.

"Kagome, snap out of it! We can not let him win! If he wins, you will lose everything you hold dear! You'll never have the chance to have fun anymore. You'll never be happy, or sad, angry."

Tears were coursing down Kikyo's cheeks as she watched her friend struggle with the darkness which had taken residence.

but if you could...do you think you would

trade in all the pain and suffering?

ah, but then you'd miss

the beauty of the light upon this earth

and the sweetness of the leaving

"You'll never be able to love. . . You won't have the chance to live your life with Inuyasha. A life that you have been destined for since both his and your souls were brought into existence." Kikyo said, the tears she was shedding quickly started falling faster and faster.

"Don't you know that Inuyasha would die without you? Without your love?" Kikyo whispered.

"Kagome, please, Inuyasha is on his way know to help. If you can't do it for yourself. . . . . .do it for Inuyasha." Kikyo's suddenly seemed to fail her as she spoke the hanyou's name.

"But. . . . He. . . . doesn't. . . . . love. . . .me." Was all Kagome could manage to whisper. She felt as if a massive depression had settled into her entire being.

"Oh, Kagome. . . ." Kikyo said as she hung her head. Kagome was just going to give up. After all of the pain, all of the struggling and lives lost in the past, Kagome was giving up.

a man is placed upon the steps,

a baby cries

and high above the church bells start to ring

and as the heaviness the body

oh the heaviness settles in

somewhere you can hear a mother sing

Inuyasha made his way across the ballroom as fast as he possibly could. He finally reached the stage, and launched himself at the only woman he had ever truly loved.

As he reached her side, he gently reached down and gathered her into his arms. As soon as his arms had fully wrapped around her, a blindingly bright white light flashed in front of his eyes.

As the light faded, and his eyes adjusted to his new surroundings, he looked around in awe. A sudden flash of movement from the corner of his caught his eye. He looked over and saw Kagome sitting dazedly on the floor of the room they now found themselves in.

Directly in front of her, he say something that rendered him speechless. The stood Kikyo pulling on what looked like a bright pink light. On the other side, also pulling on the strange pink light, was a massive black entity. From the looks of things, the darkness was winning.

"Kikyo?" he whispered.

"Inuyasha? Oh Inuyasha, you must hurry! She is giving in, she is going to let the darkness consume her!" Kikyo half cried, half shouted.

then it's one foot then the other as you step out onto the road

how much weight? how much weight?

then it's how long? and how far?

and how many times before it's too late?

"But what can I do? I can't take that much darkness on in a battle, I would surely lose!" he said dejectedly.

"Tell her how you feel, Inuyasha! You must, you cannot hide from your feelings for this girl any longer. It is the only way!" she pleaded desperately hoping for a miracle.

"It wouldn't be fair, for me to make her fall in love with me. . . . .even though I know that after I have properly avenged our deaths I must return to the afterlife. I will not make her suffer through the pain of losing one of us again." He said as tears started to slowly stream down his cheeks.

"No, you won't. You won't be leaving her alone." She replied.

"What do you mean? I died, I was buried in a cemetery. I have to go back!?!" he replied, starting to lose hope.

"No, you don't understand. You did not die. . .not really. Your human blood died, even though your youkai blood still yet lived. You were so badly injured that it took you a complete year to completely heal"

"I. . . .I'm alive?" he said, slightly shell-shocked.

"Yes, alive, now go to her Inu. She needs you. You're the only one who can save her from herself."

calling all angels calling all angels

walk me through this one

don't leave me alone

calling all angels calling all angels

we're cryin' and we're hurtin'

and we're not sure why...

"Kagome?" she heard a soft, and familiar voice say from above her head. She lifted her head and was met by a surprise.

"Inuyasha?" she asked in a breathless whisper, afraid to give life to the hope starting to blossom in her heart.

He gazed at her with a tender, loving look on his face as he slowly lowered himself to sit on his haunches, "Hai, it is me, my love."

He watched as tears filled her eyes, and she suddenly launched herself into his arms, sobbing uncontrollably.

"Oh, Inuyasha, I thought you had left me. I'm so scared. I feel like I'm being consumed by evil. I'm losing grip on myself. Make it stop, please? Make it stop. . . . . .I can't bear this for much longer. It hurts so much. . . . ." She whispered in a raw, husky voice pain evident on her features.

"Maybe it would be better if I just let go. But I don't want to die. . . . .I want to stay here with you. But he won't let me go. What am I going to do? All I want to do is let go. . . .make the pain stop." She continued before falling silent once more.

and every day you gaze upon the sunset

with such love and intensity

it's almost...it's almost as if ...

if you could only crack the code

then you'd finally understand what this all means

"NO! I won't let you go. You can't!" he said vehemently as he nuzzled into her hair.

"Why?" she said in a breathless whisper, the loudest volume she could muster with all the pain she was feeling.

"Why?" she repeated.

"Because, I need you." He said as tears began falling from his eyes once again.

"Why?" she squeaked, her voice clogged with the tears that she couldn't seem to stop.

"Because. . ." He started to say, when his voice broke on some unknown fierce emotion.

"Please, why do you need me?" she sobbed as she leaned back to look him in the eye .

"Because. . . .I. . . ." He stuttered before sighing heavily.

"I need . . . . . I need you . . . .because . . . .I love you. . ." He said haltingly just before he crashed his lips against hers.

calling all angels calling all angels

we're hurtin' we're lovin'

because we're not sure how this goes

A/N: Ok, one more chapter, and then the epilogue. So, did you like it? Sorry it is taking me so long to update. Things are crazy around here, and I don't have as much time to type as I used to.
