I'll be there for you

Kagome sat beside the couch watching as Kashi slept in the same exact position Kiran and Sei had left her in when they carried her in.

Everyone was in shock. How could this happen? It was so unreal, Sachi hadn’t said anything since her outburst outside. Mahiru was sitting in front of the fire watching the flames lick at the logs. Inu yasha sat beside Kagome with a comforting hand on her knee.

When they had tried to call an ambulance, they found that none of their phones had a signal, then deciding to drive her into town themselves they found that the battery had been ripped from the car, though where it could be no one had any idea. But the thing that kept bothering Kagome the most, was why a ghost would rip out a car battery…and even more so, how would he know that it would keep the car from starting? Why not just demolish the whole thing. Being well acquainted with demons Kagome knew this wouldn’t have been a challenge.

So they were stuck. In the woods. At night. With a wounded girl who needed medical assistance. Kagome knew she and Inu yasha could run into town, but the dark presence that seemed to be pouring in from all directions made her reluctant to leave her friends. After all, none of them would stand a chance against a demon.

Sei and Kagome had managed to bandage her wounds to the best of their ability. She didn’t seem in danger of dieing, the only part that scared Kagome was the fact that she hadn’t waken up yet. None of the injuries were especially deep. Either the gash in her head had knocked her out, or she was under something or someone’s spell. She suspected the later. With all of the evidence pilling up, it was seeming less likely that their only worries were a dead demon and his lover.

Kiran pulled out his cell and flipped it open, then sighed.

“Nothing, not even one damn bar.”

“This is so weird…they worked yesterday, when Mahiru called you….why wouldn’t they work now?” Inu yasha asked, confused by how these phone things worked.

“I have no idea” Kiran returned the phone to his pocket.

:”It’s like we are in a bubble…nothing can get in and we can’t get out…” Sachi finally spoke.

“Don’t worry Sachi, we’ll walk out of here tomorrow, when its daylight.” Kagome tried to settle her friend down.

“I bet we won’t be able to…I bet something will stop u…”

“Why would you say that?” Sei asked.

“I can just feel it…something doesn’t want us to leave here…”

“Feh…I’d like to see whatever it is try to stop me.” Inu yasha scowled.

Mahiru poked at the fire.

At Last everyone had traveled off to their rooms. Well except Inu yasha and Kagome, they decided to stay downstairs to keep an eye on Kashi.

Kagome sat in Inu yasha’s lap with his arms around her waist as she rested her head on his chest.

“Inu yasha…”

“Hmm?” he asked sleepily.

“Do you think that if we hadn’t come here we never would have told each other how we felt?”

“I don’t know…” he was silent for a moment. “I think we would have eventually”

“I’m glad we didn’t have to wait…”

“Me too…” Inu yasha’s grip on Kagome tightened.

A Dark figure watched as Kagome and Inu yasha kissed.

‘They are getting to close…’ The figure crept silently back upstairs were it was stopped by another dark form.

‘What happened to the girl was not part of the plan…we must finish things tomorrow.’

‘Yes Master…’

Kagome put the last of her cloths in her suit case then went to the bed. She had finished packing and soon they would be heading off to town. She would only be taking a small bag with her, but she didn’t see a point of leaving all of her stuff up here. She would put it all in the SUV, then she could come back later to get it. Inu yasha sat in a chair in the corner, he refused to let her out of his sight.

Lifting up the mattress Kagome felt her heart clench.

“Oh shit…”

Inu yasha stoodquickly. “What is it?”

“The jewel shards…they aren’t here …”

“What?!”

“They’re gone!” Kagome cried.
