A Dream of You

Final Battle


Kagome felt the tears streaming down her face. She looked down at Kikyo's pale face as the woman's breathing became harsh. She held the woman to her and looked up to see Inuyasha continuing to attack the evil hanyou. He was enraged. The day had started out bad. Kagome felt her heart ache when the other's woke up asking where Koronue had went to. She had to inform them that he'd left with his partner. They didn't ask any questions nor did she speak of it. She'd known it was going to happen soon.

Naraku had attacked suddenly, gloating. Kagome started crying to see that he now had every shard but hers. Which meant that Kohaku was dead and Kouga was either injured or dead somewhere. Inuyasha who had always swore to hate the wolf got upset. Sango broke down in tears knowing her brother was lost to her.

So the battle had started, they also came to another conclusion. Naraku had somehow destroyed Mouryoumaru and taken possession of his heart once more. Within minutes he had everyone running for their lives. He seemed unstoppable as he went for their lives. Sango and Miroku were up in the air with Kirara. Shippo was on Kagome's shoulder, trying to act brave. The past year and a half of traveling had come down to this moment. Before Inuyasha could tear down the hanyou's barrier, Naraku went straight for Kagome. Kagome knew she was going to die, then Kikyo had done the unexpected and shoved the girl aside. Naraku pulled the tenacle out as the dead woman fell down. Inuyasha went wild seeing her being injured.

Kagome held the woman and cried, not understanding why. She watched as Inuyasha unleashed the dragon-scale Tetsusiaga not only breaking down the barrier but taking half his body with it. Kagome's eyes widened as the jewel flew out and rolled to the ground not far from her.

Everyone turned too at seeing the jewel escape the hanyou's clutches. Kagome didn't think twice. She let go of Kikyo and ran for it. As her hand curled around the small ball, she felt something pierce her shoulder lifting her off her feet. The pain was unbearable but she held on to the jewel.

"Kagome," the other's yelled for her.

She felt tears stream down her face at the pain. She snatched the jar off her neck and took the tiny shard out. Squeezing both in her hand she felt it complete itself. Naraku was laughing as he shoved the tenacle further into her body. Kagome looked down at the woman laying on the ground not far away. Kikyo's words came back to her, 'The jewel must be sent from this world, once done Naraku's evil soul can be destroyed. She didn't have the power to destroy it but there was another way. She closed her eyes and made her wish.

Everyone screamed when the bright light began to pulse from her hand. Naraku released her when the purified energy came from her. He backed up snarling, the bitch had just purified the fucking jewel. It should have stayed tainted while near him. Kagome fell to the ground with a thud. Inuyasha took his chance and unleashed the power from his Tetsusiaga. It hit Naraku head on before the hanyou could notice and put up another barrier.

Everyone watched as the hanyou was destroyed finally. Miroku removed his prayer beads and started crying. "It's gone." They landed and ran over to Inuyasha. He picked up Kikyo and walked over to Kagome. He accidently dropped Kikyo when she began to pulse with the same energy as Kagome.

"What's happening to them?" Shippo jumped on Sango's shoulder.

"I'm not sure Shippo." Miroku stood over them, watching with everyone else. Kagome's body started to emit streaks of pink energy all landing into the dead woman. "Kagome!" He screamed as the girl was consumed in a flash of light. When the light cleared she was nowhere to be seen.

The woman on the ground began to move once more. Inuyasha fell to his knees, lifting her up. Tears fell down his face, "Kikyo, you're alive."

Youko stopped all of a sudden, not liking the feeling he'd just had. "Wait, something is wrong."

Koronue stopped also. He looked back towards the place he'd left only an hour ago. "Kagome?"

Youko felt something gripping his heart. It was the mark telling him his mate was in grave danger. "Yes, I think so. Lets head back." He fell to his knees when he felt it. The link was suddenly destroyed. "Oh my god."

Koronue saw his friend fall and feared the worse. Without asking he grabbed his friend around the waist and fly back to the group. What greeted him tore at his heart. Everyone was there but her. From the destruction an intense battle had taken place. He let Youko go and looked at the female called Sango for answers.

She was being held by the houshi when she pulled back. She tried to take a step forward but fell to her knees. She cried out, "It's not fair." Miroku went to her side, trying to comfort her while holding back his own tears. "Why did she do it? We could have done it without that."

"Obviously Kagome didn't feel that way, she did what she thought needed to be done. Sango she did it for all of us." He could only guess at the young girl's reasons.

"She shouldn't of had to sacrafice herself for all of us, especially for her." She turned angry eyes towards Kikyo. "I hope you're happy Inuyasha. Kagome is gone but she gave you back what you really wanted."

"I never asked for this," He couldn't stop his own tears from falling. "I never wanted Kagome to give up her life for Kikyo."

Koronue wasn't sure what they were talking about but looked at his partner for the only answer he needed.

Youko looked at him, "I'm sorry, she's gone. I felt it when she left from this world." He hadn't wanted to believe it either but her friend's had just comfirmed it. The girl was gone, gone from their lives.
