Chapter Eleven

Kimi stretched her legs in front of her, it had been over two hours since her rumble with the second biggest jerk of the fuedal era. Jerk number one of course was that Kouga. She now regretted her actions, she didn't realize that she could purify anthing much less someone's face. Her mother had told them of her power to purify demons with her sacred arrow. But she just turned her hand into a holy weapon without thinking. Most likely her anger had caused the transformation. No one had come within the time she'd walked into the cave till now. She was getting tired of the being inside also. Thoughts of revenge crossed her mind, one thought in particular of releasing the tension of her bladder on a certain wolf's fur. "Screw this I'm going for a walk, god help the wolf that tries to stop me." She looked through her bag and grabbed her cd player. A few more seconds and she had the cd she wanted, a burnt disk her and Michiko had put together. There were only four extra batteries lying at the bottom of her bag so she had to use them sparingly. She placed the headphones around her neck and palmed the small round player.

Once outside she inhaled the refreshing air, not being able to enjoy it before due to a very foul tempered wolf stalking her like she was left over turkey. It was a beautiful day indeed, no clouds in the sky, and a pleasant wind was blowing from the south. Her bladder twitched reminding her of her need to find a bush. There were some trees at the bottom of the mountain so she made her way down. The few demons that were out quickly moved out her way, not only did they not want to be purified but the beast was at the girl's side. "Come on, Socks, I'm about to pee my pants." She sprinted the rest of the way down the mountain barely making it in time before she turned her white silk panties yellow. After relieving herself she began her track up the mountain once more. Her hair now hung down her back after releasing it from the bun. No one bothered her on her way up, a few of the them even nodded in her direction. Within twenty minutes she was once again in front of HIS cave but she didn't feel like going back inside just yet instead she felt like soaking up what sun was left. Not far from her was a cliff overlooking the valley beneath. She sat on the edge and threw her legs over the side. The view was spectacular, not only could you see the valley but all the caves below. Several demons could be spotted outside their own dens speaking amongst themselves. She spotted Ginta not far below her speaking to the one she remembered being called Hakaku. 'Hmph.'

She placed the earphones on her ears deciding it was safe, Socks, was sitting beside her watching everything. The wolf was on alert mode even though he looked comfortable sitting by his new master. "Good boy," she patted his head and turned her music on blasting it as loud as it would go.


Kouga was standing beside Nikato who was laying on his furs, the only real injury besides his pride was his face. After their medicine woman had tended to it trying to get it heal it best as she could. It would leave a scar, nothing they could do about it. His main worry was once waking his pack member might want revenge upon the girl. After the medicine woman had left, he'd stood with his arms across his chest. "Nikato, how are you feeling?"

"How the hell do you think I feel, my face feels like its on fire." Much to Kouga's suprise he let out a loud laugh. "That girl has one hell of a right hook. Remind me not to piss her off again."

"Hmph, are you telling me you won't seek revenge for the permanent injury?" Kouga waited for his answer knowing that if it was what the wolf wanted he, himself wouldn't allow it to happen.

"Hell no, I deserved it. What I said was uncalled for, my anger got the best of me. I did not fight with honor, guess no man wants to believe a small slip of a girl can kick his ass." Nikato groaned and rolled over. "She has my upmost respect that one does."

"I'll leave you so you can get some rest," Kouga walked out of the cave into the bright sun. He had to squint his eyes against the bright glare. He hated to admit it but there was no denying that the girl had earned the respect of his entire tribe. Not even a day and she was turning his life upside down. Thoughts of Kagome crossed his mind and he sighed. He remembered all the times Inuyasha or himself had saved the girl. She had been able to use purifying powers also but the common knowledge of self-defense had been sorely lacking. Not that he minded the times he'd pulled her out of danger, she had also been fearless. Thinking of those other than herself most of the time. Kagome had been pretty and there had been an attraction on his part. That other girl was something all together, fearless, spunky and down-right irritating. She wasn't pretty either, she was damn beautiful, with those full pouty lips. His anger had flared when Nikato had hit the girl causing her to bleed but he'd drowned it out real quick. He chalked it up to the fact he didn't like seeing a woman struck by a man. Had nothing to do with the fact he wanted to kiss her mouth and see what she tasted like. He growled at his thoughts and went over to speak to Ginta and Hakaku.

"What are you two losers gawking at?" Kouga stopped beside his faithful comrades.

"Hey Kouga, ummm I'm not sure if you will like this, but," Hakaku pointed to the cliff above them to the pair of long legs hanging over the side. He could see her, sitting up on the cliff with some sort of device attached to her head and humming to herself as if she didn't have a care in the world. A breeze blew down from the mountain carrying her scent with it. The smell jasmine and purity came drifting across his nose. The girl was obviously not aware of the attention she was getting. Kouga growled to himself, 'Things couldn't possibly get worse.' He spoke to soon as the girl opened her mouth and began to sing.


Kimi was enjoying to cool breeze across her face and her music blaring in her ears. So much, she forgot where she was and started singing along with her cd player.

Kimi felt the hair on the back of her neck start to stand up, someone was staring at her. She glanced down over the edge and saw him. Him and every other wolf demon possibly, staring up at her like she'd grown two heads. Her eyes found their way back to him and caught his eyes. 'He has gorgeous eyes, too bad he's an arrogant jerk. Nice legs, though, can't help but notice them since he's flaunting them to the world. Then again legs like that were meant to be shown to the world.' Her object of study turned and gave her his back. She grinned to herself, "Nice ass." He stopped mid-sentence and turned to glare at her. She felt herself blush, 'Please, tell me he didn't hear that.' She didn't think her cheeks could get any redder and he was still glaring at her. A smile grazed her face, he wasn't going to effect her good mood she decided. 'He does have a nice ass, I'm sure hes been told that before. What difference did it make if I was the one to point it out this time. He probably has loads of women throwing themselves in his lap. Then again I'm a human so my compliments probably aren't welcome.' She scoffed and turned back to her music and tried to ignore the demon below her.

'Did she just say, "Nice ass",' he turned to glare at the girl and to find out which of his men she was drooling over. His pulse skipped a beat when she was still looking at him. 'Was she referring to me?' He kept his eyes on her till she turned her head and went back to humming to herself. So the girl thought he had a nice ass, he began to wonder what else she liked about him if anything.

Ginta saw the look that passed between Kouga and the girl and didn't care for it. He already cared for the girl and Kouga's interest in her was rubbing him the wrong way. He knew he was jealous and knew why. Even if he didn't stand a chance with the girl, he didn't want her to get hurt by his friend. Everyone knew that even after all these years, Kouga was still in love with Kagome. Any interest he showed the girl was due to the fact, she reminded him so much of his former love. He left him and Hakaku in a deep discussion and made his way up to talk to her.

Kimi was debating if she should start singing again when Socks began to growl. Standing a few feet from her was Ginta, she smiled at him and invited him to take a seat on the other side of her opposite her guard. A quick pat on the head and he settled down and stopped his hostile noises. "What brings you up here?"

"Thought you might like some company, you have a beautiful voice, Lady Kimi." He gave her a smile reaching from ear to ear.
"Would you sing for me again one day?"

"I'm not too sure that would be wise, not after the stares I got." She remembered the last time she'd gotten that many stares. One day in math class she'd fallen asleep on her desk in the middle of her work and woke up with ink smeared across her forehead. As the bell rang and she walked down the hall laughter had followed her wake. "Specially the looks I got from your fearless leader."

"Don't mind him, my lady. He's just put out of shape because you look like her." Ginta snapped his mouth shut but not before the damage was done.

"Who's her?"

He scratched the back of his head, and glanced down to see where Kouga was. Seeing him no longer below he answered, "you resemble the woman Kouga was planning to take as his mate. She's been gone for a long time but you look alot like her."

"This mating stuff what does that mean?" She was intriqued all of a sudden.

"Well, for us wolf demons we mate for life. Once we choose a mate we stay with them until death." He hoped that was the end of her questions.

"So you only have sex with one person your whole life?"

"No," he laughed at her innocence. "We have sex with many, but it is just a basic need. To chose a mate, the demon must first find the girl he wants to spend the rest of his life with. And during their coupling he marks her by using his fangs on her neck. Once done its gives off a scent and aura of their mate, showing that she is taken. Having sex and mating are two different things to us wolves."

"So, it's like the humans version of marriage. And this girl he chose what was she like?"

"Ah, she was really special and a human. Very pretty, Kouga adored her, going out of his way all the time to see her." Ginta saw the look on the girl's face and decided to change the subject. "How is your ankle feeling?"

"Actually, it hurts worse than it did last night. Been on it too much today I suppose. It should be fine in a day or so, then I can finally go back to my family. They must be worried sick about me." Kimi downed her head to hide her tears. She'd only left them yesterday but it seemed like forever. She felt his arm wrap around her shoulders and pull her towards him.

Ginta held the girl, sadness had pentrated his nostrils then the fresh scent of tears and he knew she was crying. His first reaction had been to comfort the girl. He held her while she cried, and for moments after until he knew she'd be okay. A growl brought his head up. The girl's new companion was on his haunches growling at Kouga, who had chose that moment to walk up the hill to check on the girl.

Kouga finished talking to Hakaku and decided to make his way back and check if the girl was hungry. When he rounded the corner what he saw made him see red. There was Ginta holding the girl in his arms, stroking her hair. His felt his demonic side wanting to run over there and tear her out of his embrace. Which was dumbfounding in itself, he had no claim to the girl. Hell he didn't even like her. But then why did the sight of her in another man's arms make him see red? "Ginta, you might want to see that your woman gets something to eat." He turned and walked away.

Kimi jerked her head at the sound of Kouga's voice, she hadn't even noticed Socks growling, she'd been so deep in thought. What came out of his foul mouth did. "What the fuck did he just call me?"
