The first few nights of the storm passed slowly as the rain started pouring down around them without any sign of stopping. As he lay awake at night, staring up at the dark cave ceiling, Jakotsu listened to the sounds coming from outside as he strain to hear any sounds that would either assure him of Bankotsu's safety or would lead him to believe he had been wounded.

Each night passed with little to no sleep being had by him as the only sounds he could hear over the pouring rain was the mooing of the cattle; which was not enough to answer his question either way. Three nights into the storm he was just beginning to adjust to the idea that Bankotsu was going to be just fine when the storm starting becoming more violent outside of the cave and he could hear men screaming out orders below.

Though he couldn't actually tell who was speaking or what was being said over the thundering rain, it wasn't really all that hard to figure out something was wrong. The storm was causing more problems then they had anticipated or the increase of noise was scaring the cattle. It did not matter what the actual cause of the yelling was, Jakotsu knew that it wasn't a good thing.

As he made his way over to the entrance of the cave, staring out into the pitch black darkness of a night with no moon, he knew he would stand no chance of actually making it down the hill to the others and would certainly be swept away in the flooding waters; only succeeding in making it harder on the others if they were even able to hear him.

Knowing Bankotsu didn't need anything more added to his plate, Jakotsu fought against the overwhelming desire to help him and forced himself to stay inside. "The cattle is getting louder," Jakotsu realized after a few minutes as it started becoming easier to hear the racket they were making over the rain; unaware he was speaking out loud until he received a response.

"Do not worry, Jakotsu, they will all be just find. Sesshoumaru will keep him safe," Kagome assured him as she walked up beside him and began staring out into the darkness with him. Though her words did little to actually assure him, Jakotsu decided it best to not tell her that as her voice was laced with worry of her own. Not sure of what else to do to bring either of them comfort, Jakotsu reached down and clasped her hand with his own. Though she seemed startled for a moment, she quickly closed her own fingers around his and leaned toward him until her head was resting on his shoulder.
