Never afraid of the Big Bad Wolf

"Y...You...remember...?" Sango said eyes she caressed his cheek gently. Instead of a verbal response Kouga simply pulled her into a tight hug, burying his face into her dark brown hair. That was all Sango needed to realize, he did truly remember...Kouga ran his fingers through her silky hair and cupped her chin with his other hand as he pulled her into a long passionate kiss.

Their lips parted abruptly at the sound of Inuyasha clear his throat. Sango peeked over Kouga's shoulder as Kouga turned to look at the crowd that watched them. Sango blushed madly at the sight of all of the faces that stared, Some faces were angry, some were awe-struck, some were uncomfortable and others were a little impatient...being Inuyasha's, of course.

"You've got a lot of explaining to do, Sango!" The hanyou exclaimed as he began to approach. Kouga growled protectively over his mate, his hand clamped tightly around his injured arm.

Inuyasha scoffed as he eyed the injured wolf, "Look, Kouga or whatever you said your pathetic name is! I ain't got time for this. I don't know what is exactly going on here but It's creeping me out."

"Inuyasha!" Kagome yelled as she held her fist to her chest, stepping toward the hanyou.

"Not now Kagome! For all we know, Wolf boy over her could have Sango under some sort of spell!" The hanyou shot back.

"Bullshit! Your acting like I know voodoo or something!" Kouga snarled.

"Hey, I'm just saying...Sango isn't the type of girl to just fall for someone so easily...Look at poor Miroku. He's been waiting to get with her for a while now." Inuyasha said nonchalantly as he glanced over to Miroku who smiled nervously, rubbing the back of his neck, "Please, Please..."

Inuyasha sighed, feeling pity for the lecherous monk then turned his attention back to Kouga and Sango, "Now hand over Sango before I end you like I ended your feathered friend up there,"

"Don't be a fool..." Kouga smirked. "You and I both know If you used that windscar thing on me right now you would kill Sango and Kagome too..."

Inuyasha clenched his teeth, knowing Kouga was right "Damn it!"

Sango stepped in front of Kouga, the remains of her kimono wrapped tightly around her body as she held her arms out, blocking Inuyasha from Kouga "Inuyasha, I want to stay here! I don't want to go back with you...I want to stay here with the wolf demon tribe...where I belong..."

An uproar erupted as the wolves spoke among themselves. To Sango's surprise it sounded positive.

Inuyasha lazily looked upon the half dressed taijiya, "You know what your saying, right?"

Sango nodded. She just got her Kouga back and she was not going to be pried away from him that easily again.

Inuyasha turned away, sighing as he put his gigantic sword over his shoulder. "Whatever! But heed my warning wolf! If you hurt her in any type of way, your as good as dead! Got that?"

Kouga growled, stepping around Sango and made a fist at Inuyasha, "If you think that I would ever hurt my mate then your demented!"

Inuyasha glared over his shoulder at the pair and scoffed, "Let's go, Kagome. We're through here..." he said as he parted through the crowd of gossiping wolves.

Kagome smiled at Sango as she took both her hands, "Be safe..."

Sango smiled back and nodded, thanking Kagome with her eyes as the miko released her hands and turned away to follow Inuyasha and the others.

Sango watched her friends disappear over the horizon as the sun began to rise. She was admittedly sad to see them go back also happy that she can re-start a new life as apart of the wolf demon tribe. Unlike their future laws, the wolf demon tribe of the feudal era's laws could be easily swayed.

Sango was abruptly brought back to reality as she heard a groan followed by a hard thud. Sango spun around to see that Kouga had collapsed to the ground, holding his arm tightly as his cringed in pain. Sango gasped softly as she looked at the members of the wolf demon tribe, "W-Well? Don't just stand there! We have to get him back to the den and quick!"

"Right away, Sis!" Ginta and Hakkaku said as they rushed to Kouga's sides and lifted him gently to his feet.

Sango stared at them, confused by her new title they gave her. She then quickly realized that this was acceptance, this is what she so badly longed for. Before she knew it she was lost In thought. She day dreamed about how life would be from that moment on...the thought was soon interrupted by the thought of how badly injured Kouga--he other half-- was. "You comin' Sis?!" A gray haired wolf demon called out as the disappeared around the mountain. "Kirara!" Sango yelled out as she saw the fire cat youkai fly from above the mountain and land before her. Sango hopped upon her companion's back as she attempted to catch up with the wolf demons-- her new family.

The sun shone brightly in the clear blue sky, sending beams of light down upon the wolves den highlighting the waterfall and river that flowed before it. Sango never left the side of her mate who just began to wake, he cracked open his ice blue eyes and then sat up and stretched, raising his arms high up in the air.

"How is your arm feeling?" Sango asked as she smiled at him.

"Huh? Oh...Uhh...fantastic actually!" Kouga responded as he admired the wrapping which sealed his wound. "Did you do this?"

"Yes, actually..." Sango nodded, taking pride in her handy work.

Kouga looked from his arm back toward his mate 'Oh yes, she's good with her hands...' He thought to himself, trying to prevent himself from smirking. At that moment her realized what she was wearing and nearly howled.

She wore a pelt (skirt) much like his yet slightly shorter and more of a reddish brown. She wore wrapping around her chest, quiet similar to the ones he wore over his injured arm or the ones her wore on his feet. Her hair was pulled to one side and hung down over her shoulder.

 

"Hey Kouga, your alright!" A violate haired demon called out from one of the higher ledges of the den.

 

"Yeah, we were starting to worry..." Ginta said as he placed cup carved out of demon bones, filled with water beside Kouga who just glanced at it as he stood and folded his arms across his chest.

"You idiots! It's gonna take more than just a feathered scatter brain to take me out!" Kouga gloated as he began to look over his comrades. "I wish I could say the same for you..." He said in a low tone "Our numbers dropped big-time..."

Sango looked over the wolves also then back up to her mate. She didn't like the sad tone that he spoke in.

"Yeah! But now that you have a mate, you can provide pups to increase our numbers in no time!" Hakkaku declared as the rest of the wolves cheered.

"That's right." Kouga said as he smiled and shook his head.

Sango's face turned a heated red as she looked about the den at the cheering wolves. While some cheered, others howled in victory and even some whistles could be heard which made the taijiya's face turn even more red.

"Alright, alright! Can it, will ya?!" Kouga snarled, instantly hushing the rowdy pack. "Damn it, you guys are scaring the poor girl!" He growled as he pointed in Sango's direction who sat there, red faced and wide eyed.

"Sorry, Sis." Ginta apologized.

"Yeah, we ain't mean to scare ya..." Another wolf demon said.

"I-It's alright..." Sango said as she looked away, feeling even more embarrassed. As she looked away, Sango noticed a pair of pale blue eyes watching her from the corner of her eye which made her tense. A old, light brown female wolf slowly made her way to the taijiya's side, giving her a quick sniff followed by a moist lick on the cheek. Sango watched as the wolf lay beside her as if that's where it belonged.

Kouga kneeled beside her and smiled, petting the wolf upon It's head. "Her name Is Kebukai Josei...Josei for short. I've known her since I was a pup...She's saved my ass more than once and It looks like she just accepted you..." he said low, almost in a whisper.

Sango smiled, she could tell that there was much trust between Kouga and the old wolf and the fact that old wolf just accepted her made her wanted to burst out into a squeal.

"Want to go on a walk with me? We need to talk some things over...I believe we have some catching up to do..." Kouga said as he looked at Sango, standing from his kneeling position and held out a hand toward her.

 Sango hesitated. Last time he mentioned something about "catching up" he ripped her cloths off. But she couldn't help but notice that  this time he sounded different...Instead of the harsh tone he held before, he held a soft; longing tone. Sango stood and placed her hand in his. He gave her hand a small squeeze as they began to walk out of the den. Sango couldn't help but notice how different they were...She held her head low because she felt a little intimidated by the hundreds of eyes on her but Kouga held his head high, almost like he was  daring someone to say something out of line. Sango looked back at Josei who watch them leave from the spot they left her. Her pale blue eyes never leaving her. It was like she didn't even blink.

"So are you pissed about Inuyasha taking the jewel shard that was In your arm?" Sango asked as they made their way through an apple orchard. Kouga looked at Sango briefly. She hadn't spoke since they left the den and the fact that she did now was extremely reliving to him. "Nahh, he can have it...for now that Is...I'll get it back eventually along with that little jewel detector of his..." Kouga said as he kept his eyes ahead. Sango glared at the ground wishing so badly she was glaring at him but for some reason she couldn't find the will to glare at him. "Kagome." Sango said quickly as she released his hand and pulled away. "Kagome...." Kouga repeated, not quite sure why she moved away from him. "Sango..." Kouga said in a soft tone as he stopped walking and grabbed her hand again, pulling into a warm embrace "I only want you, sweetheart,"

Sango looked up into his ice blue eyes, "Then why do you need Kagome?" She questioned.

"I only need that girl for find the shards..." Kouga said as he gave her a reassuring smile.

"Well, why do you need the jewel shards so badly?" Sango question, letting the words slip from her mouth accidently. Kouga's smile went away and his new facial expression said it all, she was asking way to many god damn questions. "Sorry..." She mumbled low under her breath.

"It's ok." Kouga replied insantly as her took her hand in his again and they began to continue their walk. "I need  those jewel shards to increase the power of my...well...our...tribe, As of right now...If they lost me then they won't stand a chance at surviving..."

Sango cringed. She didn't ever want to think about losing Kouga. She wouldn't be able to stay sane if she did, "I see."

"Alright...I've answered your questions...now it's my turn." Kouga said, a small smirk danced across his lips.

Sango hesitated, not knowing what the smirk meant. "Alright..."

"Alright, first. Your a taijiya, right?" He questioned.

Sango could feel his gaze upon her intensify as she bit her lip. "Yes, I am."

"Fantastic!" He said in almost a cheer which made Sango stop walking and stare at him. Kouga stopped walking also, noticing that she stopped and looked back at her. "Why do you ask? And how Is it fantastic?" She said as she began to walk beside him again.

"That means your skilled at fighting...I'm going to need you to train a few ninnies for me back at the den..." Kouga said as he continued to walk beside her.

Sango gulped. She didn't have a problem with training a few demons but what if they retaliated. Kouga noticed her instant change and placed a hand on her shoulder, "It will be fine, don't worry."

Sango nodded, a little more comfortable with the idea now.

"Now! I have a few more questions..." Kouga said as he placed a arm across her shoulders and pulled her close to his side. Sango's eyes shot open at the sudden gesture but before long she found herself giggling and blushing, "Alright, what are they?"

Kouga smiled, "I remember all we shared together...the way you looked, smelled and acted...the way you glowed when you came into a room...the love we made." He said as he let the last part roll off his tongue which caused Sango to blush. "But what I don't remember is where the hell we were...and how come we're here now. I also can't remember where we met or even how we met."

Sango sighed and smiled. She had a lot of a explaining to do...It was going to be a long day.

?????: Yeah, we're wolf demons! Your just a human that got lucky enough for Kouga to fall in love with you!

Sango: OH For the love of GOD! ....Wait...Where Is Kirara?!
