Sesshomaru and the Forgiving Soul

Chapter 11:

Kagome woke the next morning to giggling. Kagome’s eyes fluttered open and she saw the kids playing inside the hut. They were playing with Rin’s doll and Shippo’s toy truck. Kagome sat up and smiled.

“Momma! You’re awake. Now we don’t have to be quiet anymore.” Kagome laughed as the kids got a lot louder plying their game.

“What are you guys doing inside?” Kagome asked.

“It’s raining and Daddy wants us to stay inside.” Kagome nodded and the kids went back to playing. Kagome got up and went to the door. She pulled the mat aside and peered outside. The rain was pouring down. Sesshomaru wasn’t in sight. Kagome sighed and turned back toward her bed. Kagome jumped a few feet off the ground as she saw Sesshomaru sitting behind her bed against the side of the hut. Kagome put her hand up to her heart to low its beat. Sesshomaru quirked his eye brow at her but Kagome just shook her head.

“We will leave once the rain has stopped. You should take care of your friends.” Sesshomaru closed his eyes and ignored everyone. Kagome went to her pack and got out her umbrella.

“I want you kids to stay here with Sesshomaru-sama.” They nodded and went back to playing. Kagome stepped outside and opened her umbrella. Kagome saw Miroku walking into the village and ran to him. She threw her arms around him and started crying. Miroku wrapped his arms around Kagome awkwardly.

“What is wrong, my lady?” Kagome tried to stop crying enough to talk.

“I don’t know what to do, Miroku!” Miroku led Kagome to sit under a nearby tree.

“Tell me what’s going on Kagome.” Kagome sniffled a little and started explaining everything that’s happened to Miroku. He sat at listened to the whole story before speaking.

“Where does Sesshomaru want to take you?” Kagome just shrugged. “Well there is nothing that can be done about the suit that Sesshomaru has. You do not have to travel with him if you don’t want to. You are still more than welcome to travel to with us.” Kagome shook her head.

“Not after what I did,” Kagome pulled her knees up and wrapped her arms around them.

“Inuyasha doesn’t hold it against you, not really anyway. He wants to talk to you but doesn’t want to deal with Sesshomaru. He thinks that you picked him over Inuyasha. He needs to know that you didn’t understand what was going on.” Kagome nodded.

“Where is Inuyasha?”

“In the God Tree as always.” Kagome nodded and stood. She grabbed her umbrella and started walking toward the well. What if Inuyasha didn’t forgive her? What if he was still mad? Would he hurt her? Kagome stopped under the God Tree and looked up. There was Inuyasha sitting up in the tree.

“Inuyasha, can we talk?” Inuyasha looked down at her and sniffed. “No, Sesshomaru is not here.” Inuyasha nodded and jumped down. Kagome sat down against the trunk and patted the space next to her. Inuyasha sat and stared into the rain.

“I’m sorry.” Kagome looked over at Inuyasha and gently touched his arm.

“You don’t have to be sorry, Inuyasha. Everything is fine and for some it’s better. I’m sorry for what I did to you. I didn’t realize that I was capable of being so angry.” Inuyasha looked over at her and gently pulled her into his lap. He hugged her close to his chest and laid his head on hers. They sat like that for several minutes before he spoke again.

“I was really mad at you. I know now that you didn’t understand what you were doing. But why have you not turned him down?” Kagome looked up at Inuyasha and smiled sadly.

“He won’t take back his suit no matter what I say. The attention was nice yesterday, but today Sesshomaru is back to his normal cold self. Even after I restored his arm he’s still so cold.”

“You returned his arm?” Kagome nodded. Inuyasha shook his head. “Now he’s going to be worse than ever now.”

“He wants me to go with him.” Kagome whispered.

“But you won’t right? You’ll come with us?” Kagome looked down at her hands and didn’t say anything. “You want to go with him.” Inuyasha sounded defeated.

“I don’t know what I want to do right now. I think that I may like Sesshomaru but then he’s so cold. I don’t want to leave you guys. You’re my friends.” Inuyasha shoved Kagome off his lap and stood.

“Friends? Is that all I am to you!” Inuyasha glared down at Kagome. She stood and looked warily at the hanyou.

“Yes, Inuyasha, you are my friend.” Inuyasha roared and lunged at Kagome knocking her on the ground. Inuyasha straddled her waist and held her arms down.

“I love you, Kagome. I wanted us to be together. I was going to ask you to mate me. You’re telling me that you would have said no!” Kagome trembled beneath him as he tightened his grip on her arms.

“Inuyasha, I love you too, as a brother or a really good friend.” Inuyasha snarled at her again and Kagome flinched.

“Answer the question!” Kagome turned her head away from him. Inuyasha growled deep in his throat.

“I see.” Inuyasha released Kagome and stood up, turning his back on her. “You should go. I won’t be following you to where ever it is that he’s taking you. If you’re lucky, you won’t ever see me again.”

Inuyasha walked away leaving Kagome trembling on the ground. Kagome got up and slowly made her way back to the village. Kagome wrapped her hands around her arms and stumbled through the trees. She saw the village through the tree line and broke down. She slid to the ground and began crying. Sesshomaru stepped from the hut and walked over to her. He stared down at her with out saying anything.

“Come.” Sesshomaru turned and walked back toward the hut.

Kagome watched him for a moment before jumping up and running away from him. She ran through the trees, branches tearing at her kimono. She ran until her legs were too tired to keep her going. She arrived at a cliff face when she stopped running. She looked around and saw a cave not too far away. She walked to the cave and set up a barrier at the mouth of the cave. She felt a strong demon nearby and went further into the cave and laid down.

“What have I done? Inuyasha is so mad that he never wants to see me again. Sesshomaru is just so cold. I thought that he might care for me but today he’s just so cold. Maybe I’m destined to be unhappy. If Sesshomaru wants to mate me, maybe I should just let him. I’m starting to fall in love with him, but…” Kagome just buried her face in her hands and cried herself to sleep.


>Sorry I didn't update yesterday. Anyway, hope you like the new chapter. Things are really picking up.
