Chapter 12

War!!

Battle on the Mountain

Sesshoumaru stood on the mountain top staring at the youkai before him. Rage ran its course through his being as he thought back to Rin and all the others Itaru had slaughtered. He would kill the bastard if it were the last thing he did he thought narrowing his eyes. Or at least he’d die trying.

“What’s the matter, Lord Sesshoumaru? Did you sense something you didn’t like?” Itaru questioned in a taunting voice.” Perhaps you have sensed the death of your human whore. Hn,…is that it? I think so. After all I sent Anjera to slay every being at the fort, and she was there, at the fort, wasn’t she?.” Itaru said laughing

Itaru smirked as Sesshoumaru tress began to whip behind him violently.

“ooh did I hit a nerve cousin. Does it make you angry the thought of your bitch writhing in pain., in unimaginable pain. You can’t sense her life force can you? I swear, the saying hold truth, like father like son, both of you bedding and loving those filthy things. Even my own brother is indulging them, taking that bitch as a mate. Well no more. We full bloods will not be bread in to none existence by you weaklings. The strong will have their day, and that day is now. “Itaru hissed as he went in for the charge.

Immediately the guards that surrounded Sesshoumaru knocked Itaru back. Sesshoumaru watched as one after the other the youkai were taken down until only he stood.

“Will you not fight?” Itaru questioned as he moved towards Sesshoumaru

Sesshoumaru dropped his gaze as his cousin lunged for him. Effortlessly he moved his body from harms way dodging one strike after the next.

“Is this all you armor can do for you, Itaru?” Sesshoumaru growled as he launched at Itaru striking him with his poisoned claw. His ears twitched as he was met with the sound of his bones cracking. “What!?” Sesshoumaru questioned excitedly landing in a crouched position. He struggled trying to move his right arm to find he couldn’t. Quickly he turned to face Itaru, to find him hovering above him.

“Now you’re getting it cousin. This armor makes me invincible!” Itaru barked as he lunged for Sesshoumaru once more. Sesshoumaru dodged out of the way. Striking Itaru across the back, knocking him onto the mountain causing a huge crater.

Sesshoumaru stared down on Itaru his chest rising and falling fast. He’d completely lost the use of his right arm.

“Shit!” He cursed as he watched the demon rise from the ground and turn to face him.. It was going to take everything he had if he planned to beat Itaru. Everything he thought as he lunged for the demon who stared up at him.

Miyohiko rushed up the steps that led to the upper levels of the castle. He stared down on Rin whom lay unconscious in his arms. Damn it he cursed silently. She was loosing extraordinary amounts of blood. He could only wonder how in the hell she was managing to hold on. Even so her life force was so faint he could barely sense it. I can’t let you die Rin. Not after all you have doe for my family he thought as he pulled her closer to him. He moved down the remains of what had been the castles hallways. He stared out towards the court yard where the soldiers were finishing off the last of their attackers. His brother had seriously underestimated their will to survive. He had seriously underestimated him. Miyohiko thought as he turned his attention toward the three guards that dragged to golden haired youkai behind them. “If Rin dies you die,” Miyohiko growled silently as he turned into the library, one of the few rooms that had remained in tack. Immediately his blue eyes fell to Aya.


“Is she dead?” Bikki called in an excited voice as she watched Miyohiko pass through the study door, blood dripping over his blue haori. He glanced across his shoulders towards his mate shaking his head slowly in response to her question. Gently Miyohiko lay her down on the desk in the center of the room ,before stepping away.

“Here, let me take a look at her, child.” Aya said as she moved towards the girl. “Kami her breathing is so shallow.” She stated moving her wrinkled hands across Rins body examining her slowly before turning to face Miyohiko. “This is not good, young lord.” She said as she peeled away Rins haori to reveal the wound Anjera had inflicted just below her heart. Blood poured from the opening in steady streams, as green acidic fluid burned into the girls flesh. She glanced at the girl whose lips were becoming a deathly blue from loss of blood, she reached out placing two fingers against the pulse that ran along the girl’s neck. She frowned as she turned to stares at the blue haired youkai who stood watching a worried expression etched on his face. “Her life force is nearly gone young lord. I don’t think there is much I can do.” Aya said glancing back at the girl a sad expression had become visisble on the normally emotionless females face.

“Try!” Miyohiko mouthed as he stared down on his friend. She had sacrificed herself on more than one occasion trying to protect his mate. He could not and would not let her die. He reached out grabbing Aya by the shoulders. Slowly the older woman turned to face him. Instinctively she knew what the look in his eyes meant.


“Young Lord if we do, what you are suggesting, you do realize the consequence?” Aya questioned as she watched Miyohiko reach out stroking Rins face.

“Yes.” He mouthed the response as he turned his gaze towards the Rin once more.


“What are you two talking about? What are you going to do Miyohiko?” Bikki questioned in an excited tone, rushing up along side of them.


“The young lord is going to give the girl half of his life force.” Aya responded

“So is that bad?” Bikki asked as she stared down on Rin who was struggling with her intake of air.

“Depends on how you view what is bad, and what is good.” Aya stated “For the young lord the effects will be minor , he will take longer to heal unlike the times before and he will cut his life span in half with his sacrifice. However, for the girl the test is greater. She will suffer great pain from this process. Her completely human soul will remain in tack but her body and strength along with her life span will become like that of an hanyou’s, that is if she survives the process.”

Bikki turned her gaze to her mate before glancing towards her friend who was fighting for her life. Rin had been self less in every way, sacrificing her body, time, and time again for her, and her children. If this is what it would take to save the girl, than, so be it.

“I understand. Do what you must, my love,” Bikki said a she smiled up at the youkai.

“If it is agreed, we must begin quickly. This girl is barely holding on,” Aya said as she watched Miyohiko begin to strip free of his armor.

Rin felt weightless as if she were floating almost. She felt a tug a she was pulled against something warm yet firm.


“Ses..Sesshoumaru,” She whispered her lovers name as she fluttered her eyes.

“No, I am not Sesshoumaru,” A familiar voice responded


More familiar than any other she had known. Could it be? Was it true? She desperately wanted to open her eyes, but was afraid of doing so. Would it be a dream like all the times before?

“You are not dreaming little sister,” The voice responded as if he had read her mind.

Rins eyes quickly came open fixing on the young man that held her cradled in his arms. Immediately tears weld up as she stared up into the chocolate eyes so like her own. She moved her hands up touching his slightly tanned face as the first of the warm water fell free of her eyes. His shoulder length brown hair, It was him, same as she had remembered him.

“Daijiro.” She whispered as she moved up flinging her arms around his neck. “Daijiro! Is it you? Is it really you, brother?” She questioned in a hoarse voice.

“Yes. It is I, little sister.” He responded returning her embrace.


“Where have you been all this time…all this time? I have searched for you for so long.” She cried as she buried her face against the crook of his neck.


“I know” He responded in a low voice.


‘What!? You knew I was looking for you, and you didn’t come for me.” Rin questioned as she pulled away from her sibling.


Daijiro stared at her with a solemn expression on his face. She had yet to even realize where they were.


“Look around you Rin,” He said motioning to their surroundings.” Where do you think we are?’ He questioned as he watched his younger sister.


Rin let her eyes move across their empty surrounding. Thick mist rose from the ground, and seemed to go on for miles. There was nothing wherever they were, except the mist him and her.

“
Where are we?” She questioned in a low voice as she moved to her feet.

Slowly he rose coming to stand behind her as he stared off into the emptiness.


“We are on the plain between life and death,” He responded in a low voice He watched as she spun around to face him. Her brown eyes were wide with confusion.


“Have I died?” Rin questioned as the tears began to flow once more.


“No, little sister, you have not died, not yet anyways.”


“Daijiro, how is it possible for you to be in such a place?” Rin questioned closing her eyes as she braced herself for the answer.


“I think you know already, don’t you Rin?” He answered as he took hold of her chin tilting her head. “Look at me please,” He said trying to convince her to open her eyes.


“I won’t. It’s a lie your not. Your not ….I won’t believe it,” She cried as she snatched free of him.


“Rin, do you believe I would have left you and Mother all this time without good reason? Do you believe I would have told you I was coming for you, and then never come? I don’t think you believe that. Deep down you have known all this time, but you would not accept what had become my fate. Rin look at me,” He ordered gripping her by her shoulders and turning her to face him. “Say it, acknowledge it, you must if you’re going to heal.”


“I can’t!” Rin screamed as she pressed her face into the soft material of his black haori. “Don’t ask me to.”


“Yes, I must little sister, for your sake. I do not wish honor to cost you what it has cost me. Now please, Rin, say it. We don’t have much time.”

“Why are you making me say something so awful?”

“So you can be happy, little sister.”

“No, I won’t…I won’t!”

“Rin, please…please. I won’t rest if you don’t acknowledge the truth.”

Rin looked up at her brother, and the look on his face broke her heart. All this time she’d looked for him and this was the result. It was too much for one person to bear.


“It hurts, Daijiro. It hurts so badly,” She cried out clinging to him for what she knew would probably be the last time. “You…you’re dead. You’re dead…dead…dead and you have been for a long time-”


“Yes, yes, I am dead, little sister. I am dead but you’re not. You’re alive, little sister. You’re alive and now you know the truth you can finally rest. You no longer have to spend your days looking for me. “

“I don’t want to be alone Daijiro...I don’t want to be alone.” She cried as she continued to hold onto him.

“You are not alone. You have made friends who love you very much. And there is someone special who has laid claim to your heart, has he not?” he said bringing his chin to ret atop her head.

“How do you know these things?” She asked in between sobs.

“I know because I have been with you this entire time, “ He responded

A gush of wind rushed in through the stillness. Rin felt Daijiro loosen his hold on her. Slowly she brought her eyes up to see him staring off into the distance as if there was something there that only he could see.

“We are out of time,” He said as he smiled down on his sibling. “I have been with you over the years always close by your side. I could not rest knowing I had felled you so horribly in my pursuit of something that seemed so precious. I realized that everything I needed, I had with you and Mother, but I realized it too late. Rin, do not make the same mistake, choosing honor over your precious one.”


Suddenly a white light begin to glow around his being.

“Where are you going? why must you leave?” Rin questioned as he begin to fade.

“I can not travel any further with you. I have found peace, knowing that you are not alone. There is one last thing I must do before my ties to this world are severed forever, little sister. . You must get back to the other side now. Your precious one believes that you are dead, which puts him in grave danger. You must return to him before it is too late.”

“Sesshoumaru?”

“Yes, when you are by his side Rin, tell him that the end will come through the white light. That no matter what he must strike it.”

“What, what does that mean? I don’t understand brother.”

“Please Rin do as I say. You will understand in time. Now go.”


Rin suddenly felt herself swept up into nothing ness as she struck with the most violent pain she’d ever felt in he life.

Bikki stared in horror as the girl let out a bone chilling scream, her body arching upwards as she dug her nails into the oak desk. Before collapsing back into a flatten state. Gasp could be heard around the room as her human ears changed taking a more pointed shape. Her normally ebony tress turned the same shade of blue as Miyohiko’s, her nails turned into claws and fangs appeared in place of her human canine.

“You idiots! You would give that human filth the gifts that were bestowed upon our kind. You should have let that bitch die!” Anjera hissed from the corner of the room where she was being held by guards.

“Keep her quiet!” Bikki hissed “The lady of the Northern Land commands it.”

All eyes fell towards the petite human girl. Miyohiko stared in shock. In all the time he’d been with his mate he’d never seen her get angry. It delighted him to know that she held a fire of her own. Bikki turned Slowly to find Miyohiko staring down at her smiling. She couldn’t help but blush at her mate’s admiration.


“Oh my, I can’t believe I hadn’t sensed it before.” Aya said bringing her hand to rest against Rin’s abdomen.


“What is it?” Bikki questioned excitedly “Did the treatment not work?”

“No, that’s not it at all.” Aya said turning her attention towards Bikki and Miyohiko who stared at her in anticipation of her news.

“This girl….this girl is with child.” Aya said glancing back towards the sleeping Rin.

Sesshoumaru stood on the mountain top, his silver, crimson stained tress whipped out behind him. His arm hung limply at his side, from Itaru having broken it earlier. He stared at the soldiers who lay slain on the ground. Itaru had vanquished them with little effort. Now only he remained to face his cousin and he could not lose.

“You amuse me, Lord Sesshoumaru. I would have thought you to prove a fierce opponent, yet look at you. I have battled human with more heart than you. Where is your will, your fire? Do you remember when you first came to live with us after your father’s death, what I did to you? You swore to kill me. That amused me, so I spared your life in hopes of a great battle. I see now that was a mistake. I am sorely disappointed.”

“Humph…you talk with such arrogance, Itaru. It is not your strength that has gotten you this far, but the strength of the armor you wear. If not for that, I would have easily defeated a coward such as you. You will never truly be a match for me, you and I both know this, “Sesshoumaru responded in a cool voice.

“Armor or not, the fact remains that I am going to kill you. Then I am going to kill my imbecile brother and those half lings. Tell me, Lord Sesshoumaru, are you ready to die?” Itaru barked as the ground beneath him began to shake and he was encompassed in a dark purple light.

“Shit!” Sesshoumaru cursed as he watched his cousin take his beast form. ‘He would be forced to take his own at this rate. He’d already lost tons of blood weakening him immensely; to take his true form would sap half of his remaining energy, but if he didn’t Itaru would easily destroy him in his current form.

“I have no choice. If I die here so be it. There is nothing left for me now, Rin.” Sesshoumaru said as he was encompassed by a blue light.

Rin blinked once before bringing her eyes fully open. Her head swam and her body felt oddly different she thought as she pushed herself into a sitting position. She stared at the group of youkai along with Miyohiko and Bikki who stared at her in curious silence.

“Is something wrong? Has something happened to Sesshoumaru?” Rin questioned in an excited voice as she swung her legs over the side of the desk where she’d been laying. She stepped down to find herself tripping over something that had gotten tangled around her feet. She glanced down at the flow of blue hair that pooled around her . Slowly she reached down taking strands of the tress between her fingers. “Is this my hair?” She questioned as she turned her attention to the oddly quiet group.

“Yes.” Aya responded

“What has happened to me?” Rin asked as she stared down at her hands to find claws in place of her finger nails.

“You were going to die child. We had no choice,” The older woman answered

“Had no choice? What was done to me? What did you do?” She questioned a she moved towards a mirror.

“They turned you into a god damn hanyou, is what they did.” Anjera said laughing.

Rin stared in the mirror at her new form. She could barely recognize herself. Her ebony tress had been replaced by dark blue ones. Her normally dark brown eyes were now blue, she hand fangs and claws and she was pale.

“Was this the only way?” Rin questioned as she dropped her gaze

“Yes child, we would not have done it if there were another way to save you.”

“I guess I have no choice. This is all strange and new to me. It will take some time to get use to.” Rin responded forcing a smile as she turned to face the others.

‘There is something more, Rin.” Bikki said smiling

“What!?”

“Aya ,will you tell her?” Bikki asked

“Yes.” the older woman responded as she turned to face the girl. “Rin from my examination of you, I have determined that you are with child.”

Rin stared at the older woman in confusion. Had she heard her right? Had she said that she was with child?” She questioned silently wrapping her arms around her mid section. Was it true was she really going to bare a child conceived by she a Sesshoumaru. Rin felt a tug at the corner of her mouth as a smile came forth.

“Smile while you can bitch! You may have conceived a damned half ling, but Sesshoumaru will never know of it.” Anjera laughed


“What do you mean?” Rin barked a she turned to face the demon ness.

“You all are truly idiots. Why do you think my lord did not accompany me with this assault on the castle?” Anjera laughed hysterically as she took in the look of realization that marred the girls face.


“He’s ambushing Sesshoumaru?” Rin gasped. Is this what Daijiro had meant of her love being in danger.

“Finally, now you’re catching on. I am sure lord Sesshoumaru is near death if he isn’t already dead. So enjoy that half ling that grows in your womb for this short time, because as soon as my lord is done with Sesshoumaru, he will come here to kill you all.”


Rin stared at the woman as she thought back to her brother’s instructions. He had told her she need to get to Sesshoumaru’s side, but how could she reach him in time. Rin turned to face Miyohiko. Of course Sphere travel

“Miyohiko, can you get us to where my lord has gone. It is urgent that we get there and soon.”

“Yes” Miyohiko mouthed as he and Rin tuned to head out of the door.”

“Miyohiko!” Bikki called bringing his movement to a halt. He glanced across his shoulder towards his mate. “Please be careful.”

“Yes.” He mouthed before turning and heading out the door.


“May I see your blade?” Rin said as she glanced up to the youkai.

Miyohiko reached to his side removing the small knife he carried, handing it to Rin. He watched as she gathered her tress into her hand slicing away over half of the locks that had grown due to her transformation.

They came to a stop as she turned to face him. “I am ready.” She said as she latched onto the youkai. Suddenly they were swept up in blue light and disappeared into the sky.

Sesshoumaru lay on the ground in his beast form. His white pelt was completely stained crimson. Itaru stood above the injured demon Lord as he lay on the ground unable to move.


“Now to finish you.” Itaru growled as he curled his lips back ready to attack .

“No! A woman’s voice screeched as Miyohiko and Rin along with about twenty soldiers landed on the mountain top. Quickly Miyohiko motioned for the Soldiers to attack . Rin watched as The large black dog that stood over Sesshoumaru was knocked back by five of the youkai soldiers that had assumed their beast form. Rin rushed to Sesshoumaru’s side kneeling in front of his muzzle.

“Sesshoumaru>” She called in a low voice as she flung herself forward stroking the fur above his nose. Languidly the youkai eyes opened. She felt a large gush of air as he breath out. She brought her head up, to find him staring at her . His eyes were so weak. A moment more and he would have been dead. Suddenly blue light encompassed his being as his form changed quickly. Rin scooted close to him propping his head upon her lap as she ran her fingers through his blood laced tress.

“Rin.” He whispered as a single tear fell from his golden eyes. “ I thought I’d lost you.” He said as lift his hand weakly caressing her face.

“Never!” She responded as she pressed his hand against her face. “You will never lose me.”

Slowly he pushed his body forward, rising from the ground.

“Miyohiko, we have got to stop Itaru now, here in this place. He can not be permitted to move any further or do any more harm than he already has,” Sesshoumaru said rising to his feet.

“My love what are you doing? You are injured too badly to continue on like this.” Rin said trying to force him to sit once more. Sesshoumaru paused staring at her. He narrowed his eyes, taking hold of a strand of her hair.

“What happened to you?” he questioned taking note of her very visible fangs.

“I nearly died from an attack from Anjera, but Miyohiko and Aya performed a procedure that turned me into a hanyou.” Rin responded

“I see.” Sesshoumaru responded

“Are you angry? “ Rin questioned dropping her gaze to the ground” I mean I will understand if..if..”

“No don’t think like that,” He interjected as he took hold of her chin titling her head so that her blue gaze met his golden one. “I love you, Rin. Human or hanyou, it does not matter, as long as you are alive, I can live with the change, but if you had died, I would not have wanted to live another day, “He finished pulling her to him.

“Sess!” Rin cried as she buried her face into his haori

Sesshoumaru let out a low growl as he fell to one knee, taking her with him. Rin watched in horror as he toppled side ways clenching his side. Her eyes fell to the familiar black sludge that had eaten away the soldier’s bandages from earlier that day.

“My lord, are you alright?” Rin questioned in an excited tone.

“I will be fine. We must finish Itaru.” Sesshoumaru responded as he shakily rose to his knees and then moving to his feet once more. “Please Rin; I want you to get to safety. I couldn’t bare it if anything were to happen to you.” He stared her concerned expression on his face. He had his heart ripped to shreds when he’d thought he’d lost her the first time there was no way he’d go through that again. “You soldiers please take my mate to safety,” Sesshoumaru ordered as he stared at Rin her already large brown eyes widened two size at the sound of his words.

“Mate? Do you mean..tha.”

“Yes, I want you to become my mate. We are already joined in heart and in spirit, same as any , there is just one step to be taken. When this is over I will claim you properly my love.”

Rin stared up into his golden eyes. She wanted so badly to tell him the news that Aya had given her moments earlier, but considering the circumstances and where they found themselves at that moment she decided it best not to reveal the news of her being with child until the battle was over.


Miyohiko walked up along side of the couple drawing them from their revelry of one another. Sesshoumaru glanced at the youkai understanding what his expression meant. They turned their gaze to other soldiers. Out of the five that had led the attack only two were now standing.
“I must go now. Go with this young soldier. He will protect you with his life. “

“I’ don’t want to leave. I want to be here until the end.”

“I know my love but it is far too dangerous. At least leave from the mountain top. Wait for me at the forest edge, alright.”

Rin wanted to protest, but her being so close by would only distract him.

“Yes.’ She reluctantly agreed

Sesshoumaru leaned forward kissing her gently before turning and giving pursuit of Miyohiko who’d already transformed. Rin watched after them for a moment before finding herself swept up in a yellow light as she was whisked away from the mountain top.


Sesshoumaru moved at an uneasy pace behind the large black dog. He stared down at his side where Itaru had struck him with the poison lance. Already he could see signs of the signature black sludge know to cause death. His head swam and beaded with perspiration. He could barely stand and his vision was blurred. He stumbled forward as he was gripped with nausea landing on all for. He coughed sending forth a large clot of blood.

“Damn it!” He cursed as he stared at the sign that the poison was spreading fast. He hadn’t wanted to alarm Rin but he was in far worse shape than she knew. He glanced up to find Miyohiko watching him. Slowly the large black dog turned and made his way towards him letting out a concerned growl as he brought his muzzle to rest against Sesshoumaru’s shoulder, nudging him.

“It’s alright Miyohiko. Sesshoumaru said as he struggled to get to his feet.” I’ll be fine.”

Miyohiko watched as Sesshoumaru was engulfed by blue light. Quickly the light shot into the sky and came down again revealing a large white dog.

Miyohiko’s eyes widened as he took in the horrid state the older youkai. Suddenly a loud yelp was heard as drawing both Sesshoumaru and Miyohiko’s attention towards the Huge black dog surrounded in purple aura. Miyohiko bared his teeth as he positioned himself for attack.

Suddenly Itaru charged Sesshoumaru and Miyohiko. His purple aura darkening as he lunged for Sesshoumaru clamping down on his hind leg. Sesshoumaru let out a painful yelp before sinking his teeth into Itaru’s flank. Miyohiko lunged towards Itaru latching on the youkai’s back as he dug his acidic claws into his side. There on the mountain top the three large dogs battled, causing whole chunks of rock to fall from the mountain side.


Quickly night came Rin stood huddled in the group along with Hiroo and a few remaining guards. Flashes of blue , purple and green light could be seen, mirrored across the heaven. Rin paced back and forth her heart pounding against the back of her rib cage violently. Desperately she wanted to help him, but there was little she could do. Suddenly a loud howl was heard as the large white dog was flung from the mountain top.

Rin watched in horror as Sesshoumaru fell from the mountain.

“No..no…”she cried as she took in the horrific scene. Hiroo please get me there, now!” She called to her guard. Without pausing he obliged. Sesshoumaru landed at the foot of the mountain with a hard thud. He lay there dazed every fiber of his being ached making for painful movement.
‘Damn it.’ He cursed silently. “ Maybe there is truly no way to beat Itaru. Maybe we’re truly doomed. No I can’t let him win. Sesshoumaru growled as he struggled to his feet once more. Suddenly he was engulfed by blue light as he was changed into his human form. “No , not now.”

Suddenly red sphere appeared before him. Quickly Rin moved from within the glowing light to his side.

“What are you doing here? Damn it Rin, I told you to get to safety!” he barked as he struggled to his feet.

“You can’t go on like this, you’re going to get killed.” Rin cried throwing her body hard against his .

“I have no choice. I can’t let him win. I will endure this for your sake and for that of Bikki and the children. For Miyohiko and my uncle, I will have my revenge.”

“I don’t want to be alone, I don’t want to be alone. Sesshoumaru I can’t lose you.” She cried , as tears fell heavily from her eyes.

Suddenly the wall of the mountain began to take on a white haze.

“My Lord move away from the wall quickly!” Hiroo ordered throwing his body between Sesshoumaru and the mountain.

“What!?” Sesshoumaru questioned as a white sphere emerged hovering a few feet from them.

Rin stared at the orb as she was struck with the memory of her brother’s last words to her. Slowly the sphere began to rise ascending to the mountains top.

“Sesshoumaru, do you think you have enough energy to propel yourself to the top?”
Rin questioned her gaze fixed on the rising white orb.

“Yes.” He responded

“Good, my love. Follow that orb, quickly. I will have Hiroo lift me to the top. “She said as she latched onto the red haired youkai.


Quickly the three landed on the mountain top, just as Miyohiko was knocked down. Languidly the orb moved towards the large black dog that had turned his attention to the three youkai that come to rest on the peak.

He dropped his head as acidic saliva fell free of his mouth disintegrating the rocks beneath him. He curled his muzzle up into a snarl as he moved to lunge for them.

“Shit!” Sesshoumaru cursed positioning himself in front of Rin.
The dog’s efforts were cut short as he was knocked side ways by Miyohiko whom had risen to his feet.

Rin let her eyes continue to follow the white orb that moved towards the large black dog unnoticed.

“Sesshoumaru.” Rin called in a whisper that she was sure that only he could here

“What?” He questioned his gaze fixed on the feral youkai that was preparing for another attack on them.

“Where ever that white orb lands you must strike him.”

“What, how do you know this?”

“ I don’t have time to explain just do it.”

Rin watched as the dog rose up ready to launch for them. Suddenly a white haze encompassed the dog’s body, locking him in his raised position. Slowly the orb moved landing against the dog’s thick pelt, right beneath his rib cage.

“Now! Strike him there it is the only vulnerable area on his body.” Rin shouted

Sesshoumaru reached to his side unhooking his sword.

“Hurry!” Rin shouted as the white light that had engulfed the dog begin to flicker as if going out.

Sesshoumaru raised the sword above his head , reaching far back, before throwing his body forward unleashing the sword. The sword struck the large dog just as the light blinked out. Itaru let out a loud howl bucking across the mountain top, before collapsing to one side. Suddenly he was submerged in purple light as he was transformed to his human state. Miyohiko transformed , quickly moving to his brothers side.

Itaru lay on the ground , Sesshoumaru’s sword imbedded in his chest.”

Itaru smirked as he coughed up blood.

“Lo…oks…as…..though….I..un..der..estimated y..ou, little brother.” Itaru said letting out a gurgled laugh.”W..e f..ul bl..o..o.d.s…will ruuule…We…will..will…..” His chest rose and fell twice more. Miyohiko watched in horror as the black armor the covered Itaru’s body began to dissolve his flesh until there was nothing.

Sesshoumaru, Hiroo and Rin watched as the white orb appeared once more moving towards them. Slowly the light came close stopping a few feet from Rin as the silhouette of a person begin to emerge.

“Daijiro!” Rin called as her brother came forth.

“Yes.” The young man responded

“You!” Sesshoumaru called as he stared at the young man that stood before Rin in shock.

Immediately Rins eyes fell to Sesshoumaru, as she furrowed her brow together in confusion.

Daijiro stared at Sesshoumaru a moment sending him a warm smile before turning his attention towards Rin.

“I thought you said you had to leave. I thought you said you couldn’t be with me anymore,” Rin cried as she stared at her brother , standing before her . and ethereal glow surrounding his being.

“Yes, I can not follow you any more. This was my final task to completely sever ties to this world.

“I don’t understand.”

“Rin, I could not bare you being alone. I could not bare to think of you having to endure any further heart ache. To lose your beloved would have brought you, such,” He told her turning his gaze towards Sesshoumaru.


“So this is what you meant, when you said you had one last thing to do?” Rin asked as she moved in closer to her brother.


“Sort of, there is till one last thing I must do, ‘He responded as he turned and moved towards a wide eyed Sesshoumaru.


Sesshoumaru watched as the figure moved towards him kneeling at his side. Slowly he leaned forward whispering in Sesshoumaru’s ear before rising once more.


“But why?” Sesshoumaru asked as he watched the figure move away from him once more.

“Because it’s not worth it, Sesshoumaru,” He responded as he began to fade “I’m counting on you to take care of her.”


“Daijiro!” Rin called as he vanished

“I love you, little sister.” A voice called from seemingly out of the air. “I am glad I got to see you grow into such a brave and beautiful woman. I am proud of you, Rin.”


Sesshoumaru stared at the spot the young man had only moments before been standing. He suddenly found him self swept up in a flurry of emotions. How could a creature that he had looked down upon be so noble, so honorable? Suddenly he felt his legs give way as he crumpled to the ground.

Rin moved hurriedly coming to his side . She dropped to her knees cradling his head as she stared down on him.


“He’s burning up,” Rin cried as she watched the perspiration bead off of his head. “Hold on my love.” Rin called as she watched him slip into unconsciousness. Her heart raced , thumping hard against her chest as she watched the familiar black sludge eat through his armor. “No it’s same as with the young soldier. Miyohiko! Please hurry we must get him to Aya’s quickly.


Miyohiko moved towards Rin and Sesshoumaru. With one fluid motion, Miyohiko lift the unconscious Youkai as Rin latched onto Hiroo. In a flash they were gone headed for the fort to get Medical attention.


“We haven’t come this far for me to lose you,” Rin said as they moved across the night’s sky.

Alrighty people we are finally at the end there is but one more chapter to be written. I know you all are curious as to what Rin’s brother whispered to Sesshoumaru, some of you have guessed already I am sure. Plus I couldn’t leave you without one last lemon. Him claiming her properly.
