The Move

Chapter Twelve: The Move

The male laughter was already grating on her nerves as she made her way down for dinner. Of all the days Hojo had to come over. With the help of the guys and Botan she’d been able to clean up the mess before her parents came home from vacation. Naraku had come up with a good lie as to why the balcony door was busted. Took Botan lying and saying she’d already been treated for cuts but her parents had accepted it. Well her father had stated it’d come out of her allowance in the end, of course. Fine, at least she wasn’t grounded until she was forty. Things could have gone worse. The only problem she had was that Sango had went home without telling anyone.

It made Kagome wonder just how much her friend knew. Yusuke had told them that she’d been outside taking a walk during it all. She hoped it was true. If Sango had known it would hurt the girl’s feelings. Not to mention Kurama might have found himself as an eunuch. Would have served the guy right, he should have taken the tramps outside or in his car. The only person allowed to defile this house was her. Her parents weren’t entitled either because that was just gross. She should really call Sango, since no one had seen her at school today. Kagome had tried to call her cell phone.

Botan hadn’t gotten an answer either and no one had picked up the home phone. Maybe a ride over there later would be called for. If anything her parents could tell her something. It was only one school day and the party this weekend might have tired the girl out. Even Kurama had been looking for her. Kagome had told him to look elsewhere. Indeed, she wasn’t sure if she wanted her friend to become attached to such a manwhore. If Sango did get involved with him she’d get hurt if she weren’t careful. Good thing nothing had happened between the two yet.

On the upside of things Kagome grinned remembering what else had happened. All she could think was Wow. Her body perked awake at the remembrance. Hiei had completely blown her mind, not to mention shocked the hell out of her. She’d never thought the man would be able to provoke such a response from her. Someone she’d over looked for years had turned her into a trembling idiot. She hadn’t been expecting things to go that far when she’d taken him in there. A little kissing, some roaming hands, but not a shattering orgasm around a hard cock.

She also noticed that his disposition had changed today. Before when walking her to class there had been distance between them. Today they been brushing arms, so close she could feel the heat coming from him. What shocked her even more Inuyasha had greeted them both with a smile. What the hell was the world coming to? Even Hiei didn’t growl at her ex but nodded in acknowledgment. She’d heard a few rumors as well. People were turning her and Hiei into a couple already.

“There you are girl, get down here so we can have dinner.” Her father was at the bottom next to a perfect Hojo. They were both in suits and ties. She didn’t fail to notice how the conversation had stopped upon seeing her. Not a good sign. She hated people talking about her behind her back. Say it to her face, not to her ass.

“Evening, mother still at the temple?” Kagome bluntly went without greeting the unwanted piece of flesh. She didn’t want him here so he wasn’t here for her benefit. With any luck he’d choke on his bread. Or she could forcefully ram it down his windpipe. At least if her mother was here she’d have someone to converse with. She’d rather eat in the kitchen with the dog than listen to these two talk about business. Genes, breeding, lab tests, blah blah, she didn’t want to hear it. Now if they wanted to discuss clothes, drinking and the latest styles.

Dinner was already being brought out when they took their seats. She eyed the steamed vegetables and what was supposed to be chicken. Some expensive french version that took all the bad stuff out. Meat wasn’t any good if it wasn’t juicy. She’d just pick at it and go get herself some steak later. Or a fat, juicy, greasy, sloppy, loaded hamburger. Eating like this was for the birds, she wanted real food. Which was why she didn’t eat most of her meals with her father. The man didn’t have taste buds.

“Anyways, I was thinking September would be a great month for the wedding. It’ll be hot and still nice outside. My pastor has already agreed to do the honors. Next week when you have some free time I can show you the property that I have in mind. Nothing too grand but a nice acre of land and three story home. I went last week and they were still in the process of building on.” Hojo took a sip of his wine and glanced over at Kagome. She was wearing jeans, an offending shirt and sneakers. He’d have to break her of that rebellious streak after they were wed.

Hojo was getting married?! Kagome almost laughed at the absurd idea. What kind of nitwit had accepted his proposal. And why the fuck was he still sniffing after her if he had a fiancé? The man had a lot of nerve but then again he was a moron. Ewww, Hojo in bed with a woman. Yes dear, open up, poke, now go fix my dinner. She could almost feel sorry for the poor twit for agreeing to marrying someone like him. Now Hiei, she might gladly bend over the stove so he could appease himself.

“Good good my boy. I’m sure the property is of good standing. Don’t doubt your opinion. I have several appointments with the staff but I’ll be free on next Thursday. Will have to make it quick though. I have the new equipment being delivered. Takahri Industries is wanting to expand soon and I’ve got deadlines to meet.” Her father wiped his mouth with the napkin then turned to her. “Now that you’ve finally decided to grow up I expect you to start behaving like a well bred lady. You should go with us next week when we look at the property. That way you can have it detailed to your liking. Your mother was with me when we bought this place. A woman can’t be happy if she doesn’t like her home.”

“Excuse me?” Kagome was glad she wasn’t eating or she would have choked. Why the hell would she want to go look at Hojo’s house. Her father was insinuating that she would be living there like it was her..... Oh hell no! She turned to see the bastard smiling. He had to be out of his mind. There was no way in hell she would marry him. That was exactly what they were discussing. Discussing it like she had no choice and as if she weren’t even in the room. “Who the hell said I was marrying him?”

“We’ve done discussed it girl and it’s your best option. Can’t have you running wild for the rest of your life. Hojo is an outstanding man, great husband material. You can’t find a better catch, you should count yourself lucky. I’ve about given up hope on you.” Her father smiled at Hojo then turned back to her. “See what I mean? That language, who taught you to talk like that? Young women shouldn’t curse and carry on. You have bright future but not if you blow it away like you’ve been doing. I know what’s best for you.”

“Like hell you do. Because if you did you wouldn’t be insisted I marry him. You must want Souta to be an only child. There would be no honeymoon for us. I’d throw myself in front of a speeding bus first. How dare you sit here and plan my future.” Kagome stood up as her father lifted a hand to calm her. Like that would work. She turned to glare at Hojo. “Sit there all smug if you want. Let me tell you something asshole. You can plot all you want behind my back but it’s my life. I hope you plan on marrying my father with all the plans you’ve made because when it comes down to it you can’t force me and I’d rather die than marry you. Better yet I’d rather fuck the family dog than to lie down with you. Disown me, kick me out, or whatever makes you happy. I have friends and I will not marry Hojo. You might find him to be the perfect match but I do not. I find him to be boring, stiff, stuck up, and full of himself. Next time he’s invited to dinner I’ll go without.”

“Don’t you dare sit at my table and talk like that.” Her dad was turning red by now. He slammed his hand down and pointed a finger at her. “Now, you will sit down and discuss this like a reasonable adult. You won’t throw a good marriage proposal away. He’s a good man. Better than those lowlifes you seem to want to hang with.”

“I will not! There was no proposal, you two just assumed to make up my mind for me. In case you haven’t noticed I’m not an adult yet, not in your mind. Cause if I was then you’d let me make my own decisions. I don’t see you telling Souta who to marry. No matter who I end up with it won’t be him. He doesn’t even respect me enough to ask me. I will not be with that kind of person. If you don’t like my choice in boyfriends then I’m sorry but it’s exactly that; MY CHOICE!” She felt like bringing her plate over Hojo’s head. Shame it wouldn’t knock any sense into him. “I’m leaving and that’s the end of it. If he’s so great you take him.”

Kagome almost stumbled when she walked into Onigumo’s. Okay she really needed to stop crying. Things weren’t that bad, she just had to find Sango. Then smack the girl for turning off her phone. Her father thought threats of disowning her and kicking her ass on the streets would make her change her mind. Instead she’d walked out on them and called Sango’s house. Instantly the woman she thought of as a second mother had sensed something was wrong. Kagome had spilled it and had received a place to stay. They wouldn’t let her go on the street and Kagome was of age to move out if she wanted. Which was exactly what she’d do. Now just to find Sango, so she could be told. Not to mention it would take more space than her little car could hold. Sango had told her parents she was going to play pool but Kagome didn’t spot her anywhere.

Had Sango met Kurama here and left? Or had she not even come here? Kagome was about to give up when she saw Yusuke coming out of the back. Okay so was Kurama, squashed theory number one. So Sango must not have even came by but to be sure she walked up to the pair. They seemed to be in a heated discussion. Yusuke saw her first and smiled. “Hey, sorry to interrupt but I’m looking for Sango. Her mother said she was coming by here. Have you seen her? It’s kind of important.”

“No, haven’t seen her. What’s wrong? The tears.” Yusuke could see the rims of her eyes were red. She was upset over something and desperately looking for her friend, something was up. These females were an emotional wreck when they weren’t being pains. She smiled and laughed at the question. Must not be too bad but if they could help. He wasn’t going to point out that Sango was probably avoiding Kurama. To the point she hadn’t come to school.

“Oh, I’m fine now.” She wiped her face, she must look horrid. She’d been distraught over knowing her father would take Hojo’s side over her own. All because the man was just like him. “Got upset earlier, fight with my father actually. You’d be upset too if your father was trying to force you into bed with Hojo. Anyways, I walked out with the decision to move out. I’ve already talked to Sango’s mother and I’m planning on moving what little bit of my things over there tonight. I’m going to need her help plus she has some things there she’ll need to get. I have a few other guesses where she might be.”

“Yeah, I’d cry too.” Kurama had met the man and could understand her distress. Had Sango come by while they were in the office? She hadn’t come to school today and wasn’t answering her phone. He didn’t have her home phone number. Maybe if he confronted her she’d talk to him. Would she even listen? “We can help if you’d like. Your car is kind of small, with mine and Yusuke’s truck we’d be able to get everything in one load or two at most.”

“Thanks, that would be great to be honest. They have a spare room and no bed yet. Would be great if I could take my bed with me. Hadn’t thought about that since it won’t fit in a car. Would help immensely and save me money. Not sure if we’ll need your car if Sango comes but it’ll be easier for you and Yusuke to do the lifting and Hiei is working. Let’s find Sango first, we can all ride in my car on the way over then stop back by here. No need to take all three vehicles to the school.” Kagome was glad she’d stopped by now. She wasn’t sure if her father would cause a scene when she started packing but she had to get out.

“Her car is here, told ya.” Kagome pulled into the parking lot. The drive over had been quiet. Kurama was in the back staring out the window and Yusuke was gripping the door handle. “On the way back you can ride with Sango or ride on the hood. You act like my driving is bad. I’ll have you know I taught myself.” She nodded and put the car in park next to Sango’s. The two were the only ones here. “Wonder what she’s doing in there.”

“I can tell,” Yusuke jumped out of the car. “Your driving sucks, you tried to kill us. Next time I’m busy and Kurama can help you on his own. Sure you didn’t get your licenses off the back of a cereal box? Dammit woman you are supposed to stop for red lights. Not see if you can make it through the intersection before a car plows into your passenger.” He was sure he had wet his pants seeing the large eighteen wheeler heading for him. The girl was trying to make him regret coming along.

“Oh shut up!” Kagome saw the lights on in the building. “She’ll be on the second floor. Let’s go before Yusuke starts whining like a bitch.” She closed her door and led them into the two story brick building. It was Karasu’s love and only a few privileged students had a key. The queer man lived to bring out the hidden talents of his pupils. The man was a little on the funny side at times but meant well and all the students liked him. Just the girls had to keep their boyfriends away.

Kagome shut the door behind them before waving them up the stairs. If she was guessing right then Sango was upstairs working at the wheel. She might not appreciate Kagome bringing Kurama hear to see her dirty and covered in clay but this was important. Kurama and Hiei had been here once but had stayed downstairs in the main room where the actual classroom was. Karasu said it wasn’t just making the art that counted but actually understanding the history and ethics behind it that made one great. Whatever the fuck that meant.

She turned to them seeing movement behind the glass. The loud sound of machinery was going, Sango was inside. She turned to look at them both especially the toushin. “Okay, when we go in do not touch anything. If you break something you pay. Look if you want but most of the shit in here isn’t finished. It’s not my thing but someone might come for your head if you accidently broke something they spent a month to make. Got it? Good, no touchie Yusuke.” She opened the door and called out. “Hey Sango.”

“I’ll break her ass if she talks to me like that again.” Yusuke whispered as the miko walked into the room. If he was going to grab anything it might be her ass. He’d seen pottery before and most of it looked like crap. He stepped inside before Kurama and took a look around. There were a few large things resembling stoves in the corner, a few tables with pieces on them. Sango was sitting in front of a spinning table bent over concentrating on something. His eyes went to the other side of the room. “Now, those are nice.”

Sango paused hearing the voices, she had company. The wheel slowed down as she greeted Kagome without turning around. “Hey, what are you doing here?” The table came to a stop as Kagome came over to stand next to her. Nothing unusual so she kept working. She wanted to get this piece in the kiln within the hour. It was already giving her trouble. “Shit,” she ran her fingers over the under surface of the clay. Another fucking lump. Next time Karasu could make the damn things, they were simple enough.

“Came to talk to you, your phone is off. I tried and tried but you are being a turd.” Kagome looked at the three kilns already on. It took hours for those things to bake. “You didn’t come to school today and I talked to your mom.” She walked over to the plain pottery on the table. “This is the set that Karasu asked you about on Thursday. You didn’t get them all done today. How long have you been here?”

“Came in early Sunday morning to start on them. Already have the plates and bowls done. He said they wanted the complete set of cups so I still have about three more to make after I get this one in.” It’d go in if the fucking lump would stop forming. Maybe she needed some sleep. She reached for the razor before asking. “What did you want to talk to me about?”

Kurama watched her lean over and start cutting at the clay. Her hair was pulled back in a long braid. The clothes were a stained t-shirt and jeans. There were dried smudges on her face. A face that looked weary and strained. She was ignoring him or hadn’t realized that he was here. She brought the hand up removing a strand of hair getting more of the clay on her chin. He had the urge to go wipe it off then kiss her. She went back to her work as Kagome talked loudly over the spinning of the wheel.

“So you’re moving out?” Sango wasn’t shocked by either. Her mother had babysat Kagome and she’d always considered Kagome her sister while Botan was her best friend. “So she’s letting you have the spare room? We don’t have a spare bed you know and you aren’t sleeping with me. You grind your teeth.” Sango glared at her when the miko slapped her arm. “Do you mind? The design for these fucking things is a pain in the ass. How are you going to get your furniture or is your dad not letting you take it?”

“Oh, that’s why I brought these guys. They offered to help move my stuff.” Kagome pointed to Yusuke first who was looking at the finished pieces. “My dad will probably blow a fuse when I come back but I’m leaving regardless. Tired of him trying to shove Hojo down my throat. Fucker actually proposed to my father instead of me but it’d be me that would have to spread em. Hiei is at work now but Yusuke has a truck I can put my furniture in. Him and Kurama can take the heavy stuff down, so that will leave me and you with the boxes.” Kagome screamed as the clay slung slapping her in the legs.

“Shit,” Sango swore seeing the little clumps of clay on Kagome’s pants. Bad thing about this design, she had to have the speed high as she shaped and Kagome had just told her something she didn’t want to hear. Letting it go wasn’t a good idea. This piece would need to be completely redone now and it seems she didn’t have the time. She could tell Kagome she wouldn’t help but would have to explain why. She felt the lump form in her throat at the thought. Kagome was needing to get her things and Sango had to feel for her. She knew the girl’s father and Kagome couldn’t stand Hojo. Her own mother was being considerate and giving the miko a place to stay. How could she not offer to help Kagome move her things? If she agreed on the terms that Kurama had to go jump off a bridge then who would help Yusuke move the furniture? All three might be able to do it but someone would end up with a sprained back. Her and Kagome were human both guys weren’t. They could easily get the things moved. “Okay, let me just get these three out of the kiln, in about ten minutes. I need to clean up anyways.”

“This is really nice, so can I take one of them?” Yusuke turned at the two females. He’d been studying the sculptures that had caught his attention. One was of a demon with long blonde hair sitting on a tree trunk lost in deep thought. The design was perfect, every little detailed captured. Even the facial features cried out a man thinking about something heart breaking. Did they sell this stuff? He did reach forward and picked it up. He turned it upside down to read the title. “Raizen’s Suffering, holy shit you made this Sango?”

“Has my name on it doesn’t it.” She pulled the apron making sure not to look at Kurama. Let him stand near the door for all she cared, she didn’t want to talk to him. “Designed after a legend. The one about Raizen and his human lover, it turned out okay. It’s not for sale though. I get to choose which ones that go up and what I keep. I’ll think about letting you have it. Kagome can you give me some help please?”

“Sure, did you leave any of this junk for class this week?” Kagome took her eyes off of the toushin and helped Sango grab a bag. She’d be tired before packing her own shit. “I do not grind my teeth. At least I don’t talk in my sleep. Should I start blabbering about what you do say? I can half ass tell what’s being said between the moans.” Kagome gave a good yank and almost stumbled back.

“Want to find out what it feels like in one of them kilns?” Sango stood up and stretched her arms. She’d sleep for a week if she still had to help Kagome move. She’d slept a little bit yesterday around noon but that was it. She had actually come straight here after leaving Kagome’s. She’d only had a sandwich yesterday and was hungry. “I should make you buy me dinner before moving your ass.”

“I would but we should move the stuff to your house first. We can skip school tomorrow and unpack then. Let’s just get it over there. With all the vehicles we might be able to get it in one trip. As soon as it’s all at your house I’ll treat you all out to dinner, how does that sound?” Kagome saw that had Yusuke’s attention. Kurama merely shrugged but didn’t object.

“Fine,” if she made it that long without falling asleep. She might pass out on her bed and make Kagome bring her take out. She’d choke if she was forced to endure a meal in Kurama’s presence. The first kiln signaled being done so it was something to do. Yusuke still hadn’t put her Raizen piece down. Kurama was now walking over to the toushin to look at the rest of them. She wasn’t going to point out that they were looking at her table.

Kagome shrugged at Sango’s dull tone. If she knew the girl then she’d been working the whole time without eating or sleeping. That would put anyone in a foul mood. Instead of helping the moody one she went over to the guys. She smiled as they picked up a dragon, “That’s my second favorite she made. I have the other one.” She took it from Yusuke before he dropped it. It was a black dragon with flames coming from it’s mouth. Would look good next to her other one. She’d even drawn the painting to match. Which was in her room. “This whole table is Sango’s stuff.”

Kurama reached forward to pick up a piece. It was a silver fox with a butterfly under it’s paw. A wing was hanging from bloody jaws. “Terror Within.” He muttered to himself before placing it back down. All of the work here was fantastic, the best from what he could tell. She was very talented with it. Now he understood the need for the worn and baggy clothes if this was where she’d spent most of her time before him. He turned his head to see her at another table, back turned. Even the jeans she had on now were loose. Would have to be, it’d be hell sitting for hours leaning over that table in tight pants.

“This one is really good.” Kagome reached back to grab a rather large piece to flaunt. She wondered if Kurama would pick up on it. It was of a woman laying down on her side, the clothes were that of a brown dress worn in the old days. Against her chest was a fox sleeping cuddled up against her in contentment. Which was the title, ‘Contentment.’ Kagome thought it fit nicely. She handed it to the fox and smiled. See what he had to say about that.

Kurama almost dropped it seeing the familiar female laying down. He’d purchased one just like it at the auction he’d went to. It was sitting on his dresser but he’d never bothered to look to see who’d done the actual work. He’d noticed it while waiting for Sango to stop talking to the older male. So when it had come up he’d bought it without thinking. He hadn’t long placed it in his car and went to wait at Sango’s car when she’d come out. “It’s beautiful.”

“I’m done.” Sango snapped at them. He needed to put her things down or she would forget about all the work she’d put into it by breaking it over his head. Beautiful indeed! She went over to the sink to wash her hands off the best she could. She needed to change before helping with anything. “I got to change or I’ll get your things nasty. Can you run down and get my bag out of my car Kagome and bring it to me in the office? I need to take a shower to wake up. I’ll be quick about it.”

“Sure, I’m going to grab a few covers also and stick them in your trunk. We’ll use yours to take what I got at the house. Wanna help me Yusuke?” Kagome asked the toushin. She could do it in two trips but why bother when she had some free hands. Plus she had a feeling that a certain fox was wanting to talk to Sango. She’d feel bad if she came back to a room full of busted pottery. “The covers are in the next room over.” Kagome felt her plan take a drastic death down the stairs as Sango walked on out. They all stood in silence as the office door slammed shut.

“Mind if I ride back with you Sango?” Yusuke stepped forward as she locked the building up. Her hair was damp from the shower but she was clean. He had his own reasons for it and also knew the girl wasn’t up to being alone with Kurama. “Sorry, I’ve been in the car with Kagome already.” That earned him a laugh and a scowl. “Anyways, why the hell does your art instructor have a shower in his office?”

“Heh, don’t ask, the answer might scare you.” Sango withdrew her keys, it was already dark. “Not to mention Kagome’s driving at night. Sure, you can take my car.” Saves her from being with Kurama. She still didn’t want to be around him. Just having him near was making her emotions go haywire. “I’ll follow behind you Kagome.” She didn’t want the girl eating her bumper on the way over.

Yusuke was relieved when Kurama made no protests and walked to Kagome’s car. He frowned noticing that the fox did go around and open the door for the miko. He heard Sango’s intake of breath, the bastard. He made his way to Sango’s car, she was starting it before he could say anything. Yusuke wasn’t sure how her driving was but put his safety belt on just in case Kagome had gotten pointers from riding with her friends. “Thanks, she’s scary behind the wheel.”

“No problem, guess I should thank you also.” Sango put the car in first as Kagome’s car peeled out. The miko had a lead foot. She heard Yusuke’s sigh of release as she slowly pulled out of the parking lot. “Don’t worry she got help from Botan, not me. I’ll get you there safely and in one piece. She braked for a red light Kagome had ignored. “If I was a nice person I might actually feel sorry for the bastard. Shame a car hadn’t been coming from the opposite direction.”

“You know that’s not funny because on the way here I was staring down a big ass truck. The girl is color blind or thinks she owns the road.” But damn she was cute. Yusuke leaned back in the seat thinking he could trust her driving skills. “So think you’re going to be okay? I couldn’t think of a reason for him not to come, not without telling Kagome everything. I can hang by your side if you want.”

“Yes, I think so. Think I’ve done all the crying I can. Thanks though, I really didn’t want to be alone with him right now. I think I can handle this though. We’ll be busy packing and moving Kagome’s stuff. I’m not going to ask you to babysit me, I’m a big girl. Besides I’ve done thought about it and honestly the only reason I should be angry is that he hadn’t the decency to go find a hotel or go to his car. Or wherever.” She took a right onto the main highway. Kagome’s car was long gone by now. She took a deep breath and turned to Yusuke. “It’d be one thing if we were together. Is it really his fault that I wanted more?”

Yusuke heard sirens in the distance. Kagome was probably getting pulled for speeding. He tried not to smile as he contemplated Sango’s question. “I think you’re asking the wrong person. I’d normally say no but I’m not you. I mean if it was a situation where he’d been leading you on, lying then yes but I don’t know if he has. I’ve never known Kurama to play games, well that type anyways. A girl knows what he wants because that’s all he wants. But it’s not your fault that you wanted more. Just means you actually have a heart. Are you sure he doesn’t as well?”

“That’s my point exactly. I knew he didn’t. Not once has he said anything to imply it. I was just being stupid. I made the offer of friendship, he took it. He hasn’t said he wanted anything else. I guess I took his show of friendship as more. I mean he acts the same with you and Hiei but doesn’t want to have a relationship with you. I guess a part of me was assuming because I was female it meant something. I should have reminded myself that he barely sees me as the opposite sex. I have no right to be pissed that he was fucking someone else, not like he was cheating on me.” She stopped at the next red light and continued. “Then the girls asked about me because they saw him sitting next to me. He did nothing but told the truth but it pissed me off because it was true. I’m not his girlfriend.” She didn’t mean anything to him and he didn’t want her.

“I can’t tell you what to do. I mean he’s not a bad guy, just thinks with his dick most of the time. Then again I can say I know how you feel. It’s hard to try and be friends with someone you like.” Yusuke clucked his tongue at the shocked expression she wore. “What? Is it so hard to believe that I’d like someone?” Wouldn’t she be even more shocked to learn who it was.

“No, it’s not that. I thought you had a girlfriend or something.” Sango laughed at him and almost snorted. “It’s just, well it’s you. I have a hard time imagining you being shy around a girl. You come off as a pervert and well kind of out there. I see you chasing after the girl you want without a problem. You actually blushed when you brought it up. The Great Urameshi was blushing over thinking about a female. Oh my, she must be special. So what’s the problem? She into chicks or something?”

“I can’t believe you asked that. Then again I kind of heard you were.” He winced when she slapped him in the chest. “Ouch dammit, that hurt. Owie, so fucking testy. When’s the last time you got laid?” He rubbed the abused flesh, she had one hell of a backhand. “If you wanna know she’s kind of seeing someone. Not sure if I should bother with going for it. I mean I like her but do I like her that much? I know I’d like to bend her over.”

“You pig! I should run you over, I don’t want to hear that. Makes me think of...” She sighed and felt the swell of emotions. Made her think of Kurama taking that girl from behind. Gods, would that image forever be burned into her mind? To picture him with another woman, saying things she wanted to hear. She shook her head at the apology and the conversation stopped.

Kagome giggled seeing the ancient piece of paper slide from under the dresser. “Oh my, I totally forgot I drew this. Sango look,” she held the brown drawing paper up for inspection. She’d drawn it on her tenth birthday when she’d saw the first boy she thought was cute. Automatically she’d changed him into Prince Charming and drawn him as such the best her younger talent had allowed. “Was I ever that young?”

“Yes, I hate that picture. Notice you had Prince Charming and I’m in the background with the dog.” Sango shoved some shirts in the box she was stuffing. Fuck folding them, she was just shoving them in. The sooner they left the less time she had to put up with Kurama sending glances her way. She didn’t need his pity or sympathy. The only thing she wanted from him was for him to stand still at the top of the stairs. That would make her happy. She had Yusuke cleaning out her room on the other side of the wall. She refused to go back in there.

“It’s a horse!” Kagome folded it and placed it in the box. Most of the boxes were ready to go, then the guys would have to get her bed and dresser. The bed was already apart and laying for removal. Her father was gone and she hoped to be gone before he came back. He was probably out with his mistress doing something really really really gross. “Now just the bathroom stuff and we are done in here.” Someone cleared their throat at the door. “Mom.”

“Hello Sango dear. You might want to go next door, one of those gentleman were playing with your undergarments.” Mrs. Higurashi saw color flood the girl’s cheeks as she stormed out. “I see your father has went too far this time. I knew he would and I told him so. But you know how men are and he seems to be infatuated by this Hojo. Makes me wonder if it’s a mistress he’s running off to or this Hojo character.”

“Oh, that’s gross. Ewwww, please I didn’t get to eat dinner with them two there.” Kagome stood up and went to hug her mother. “I’ll keep in touch and I’ll be at Sango’s. I won’t be far, I just don’t want to listen to him anymore. You should have heard them planning my future over my head. It was like I didn’t have a choice in the matter. It pissed me off.” Kagome clamped her mouth shut. She tried not to use bad language in front of her mother.

“I’m sure it did, you’re my daughter after all.” Mrs. Higurashi drew out a plastic card and handed it to Kagome. “Here, this will help. I won’t have you living off another family. The car is in your name so you can take it but you’ll need money for the insurance. I don’t want you quitting school to work. You will graduate despite this. It’s a checking account that’s in my name only, the pin number is the year you were born. I’ll make sure there is enough in there every month. Your father isn’t coming home tonight. He called me already complaining which is why I came home. Take your time packing and call me as soon as you get settled in. We’ll have lunch next week. Don’t even thank me, I’m your mother. Your father is the only ass in this family.”

“Holy fuck, she actually wears these?” Yusuke picked up a strip of cotton that couldn’t be considered panties. His fingers stretched out the sides and held them up. “Nice, that’s what I call a thong. Bet she’d look nice in it too. She’s got a nice firm ass. Wonder what else she has in here.”

“Put those down right now!” Kurama snapped and reached for the garment. He wanted to get out of this damn room. He was ready to leave and never come back. His eyes kept glancing towards the balcony. Had she really been standing out there when he......? He turned and lifted a box, “I’m taking this down. Stop being an ass and pack.” His eyes caught an older woman walking by with a huge grin.

“Whatever man, maybe I’ll get her to pose for me in them. Wonder if she has any crotch-less ones in here. Now those I’d like to see.” Yusuke snickered at the deadly glare being sent. The fox needed to make up his mind. He went back to grabbing handfuls of garments and was left alone. He thought of using an excuse to go next door and talking to Kagome when Sango burst into the room.

“OUT!” She went for the bra in his hand. “Get out now before I shove you out that new door. I’ll finish it up, go help Kagome. She should be in the bathroom. I’m sure she has some tampons you can play with.” She stuffed it in the box as he lifted his hands innocently. A cold glare and he moved. She was too tired to put up with him. She’d sent him in here for a reason and it wasn’t to look at her underwear. She hadn’t thought about this being one thing needing to be packed up. She kept two of the many drawers full of clothes for when she stayed.

“I got that one .....” Kurama stopped in the doorway seeing Yusuke had been replaced. “I can take what’s in the closet.” Cold silence greeted him. He thought of going in the other room but that’s what she’d want. It’s not what he wanted. His hands grabbed a box on the way. The closet only had two coats and some shoes. He folded them and placed them neatly inside. The box still had room, next came the night stand. Kagome had said everything in it was Sango’s. He opened the drawer and reached inside. Nothing but a photo album.

She wasn’t paying any attention, working on the last drawer. He flipped it open to first find a picture of the three girls, Kagome with shoulder length hair and Botan with a boy’s hair cut. Must be years ago but the highschool was behind them, freshman year? Each page held four pictures, most of the girls together or just one of them. They aged as he went and stopped on one he knew. It was one of Jin and Sango, they were holding hands. He almost choked seeing himself in the background, he was looking at them. Another one but in this one Kagome was glancing back at him and Hiei. He could remember standing behind them that day. Yusuke had made a comment about their group dirtying the air. Kagome had commented that was the cigarette smoke.

He flipped to the next page, another picture of her and Jin. This one the man was standing behind her with a huge grin on his face. The guy looked awfully happy for someone with a cheating girlfriend. The next one was of Sango wearing a strapless dress. His body tightened as he flipped the page. One of her and Botan in bikinis. He blinked seeing a picture of him and Jin together. It had to be sophomore year, that’s when he’d decided to let his hair grow out. In the picture it was already down to his shoulder. Under it was another picture of him alone, leaning against the wall. A hand slapped down on it startling him. She was glaring at him with an accusing look, “You have a picture of me.”

“I keep all the pictures I take for the yearbook, you just happened to be in one of them.” She took it from him and placed it in the box. She didn’t need to point out all the others were in a photo album by themselves not her personal one. He wouldn’t understand why she’d kept it. She hadn’t known at the time but she knew now she’d like the way he looked. She’d been dating Jin at the time but she could remember meeting him. He hadn’t paid her any attention then either, not much had changed in three years. “This is it, will you close that box up and take it down?”

“So where’s the tampons?” Yusuke handed her the make-up case from under the sink. He hadn’t heard any crashes and he knew Kurama had to have come back by now. He did wince when a foot kicked him in the side. “What? Sango said it not me. Gees, what a bunch of violent females. Try to be a friend and help and I get kicked for the trouble. First Sango threatening to throw me off the balcony and you are abusing me. Can’t a guy get a break?”

“I’ll break your face if you ask something like that again. If you want something up your ass that bad I can introduce you to Karasu. You aren’t as pretty as Kurama but you got that whole rugged sexy thing going on. I’m sure he’ll be drooling to bend you over one of the art tables.” Kagome stuffed her brush in her overnight bag. What else did she need? Toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, clean clothes and what else? She jumped feeling a hand her waist.

“So you think I’m sexy. Not sure if I should be flattered or not since you just offered me up like a piece of meat for a man. I’d like to thank you but I don’t swing that way. But since we are on the subject of bending over. Want to move out of my way so I can bend over and pick up the box without getting too personal with your ummm womanly attributes?” Yusuke saw her blush realizing what he meant. She left the bathroom like it was on fire.

Kagome almost ran into Kurama, “Yikes.” He quirked a brow at her red face but didn’t comment. “He’s got the last box then there is just the bed and dresser. I’ll make sure the way is clear so they can be loaded.” He nodded and let her pass. She had to go find Sango and get some fresh air. A tremor of excitement had raced down her spine at the thought of Yusuke putting his face in her snatch. Damn, she was being a tart today.
