Chapter 12. Shopping
Chap 12 Shopping
“Sango, what do you think?” Kagome was showing her friend the dress she was trying on. Her friend whistled admiringly.
“Well,” Sango held Kagome’s hand and made her turn around causing the skirt to flow. “If all those fussy youkai don’t fall in love the minute you set a foot in that party, my name isn’t Sango!”
“Do you think they’ll like it? It isn’t too serious?”
Sango donned a thoughtful look. “Let me think…” She circled her friend, inspecting the dress more closely. “Nope! It’s perfect for the occasion! It’s sophisticated, and it pulls attention to your attributes.”
Kagome gasped, “Do you think there is too much cleavage? You, know, I’m not sure I’ll be too comfortable with it; this dress pushes my breasts up a bit…”
Sango dismissed that thought with a motion of her hand and placed her hands on Kagome’s shoulders. “It’s not prudish, but it’s not whorish. It is, as I said, sophisticated and modern. If you wear a black dress and don’t want to look unreachable it must show some cleavage, but not too much. This one is just perfect!” Sango took some steps behind to have a better look of the outfit as a whole. “However…” “What! What’s wrong with it? Do I look too fat? Too forward?” Sango sighed in exasperation “Stop it! You don’t look like a whore! Period! Just let me finish, ok?” Kagome took a deep breath and nodded.
“What I was thinking was that this dress needs high heeled shoes and a nice hairdo.” Kagome nodded “Now, let’s buy the dress and go to the shoe shop, and then we’ll go see Yura to see what she can do with your hair, OK?”
Kagome relaxed suddenly. She hadn’t realised how nervous the event made her until she was trying to find the right dress for the occasion. Fortunately, Sango was very patient, and she said nothing during the first three shops; they made the shop assistant empty the store and ended up getting nothing. Finally, Sango had taken the lead and had lead Kagome to one of the most expensive shops where she had picked some dresses she thought would be fitting for the event, and, finally, they found the proper dress, but man, the girl needed to take it easy! Kagome was getting on her nerves!
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
“Yes! Definitely, those are the shoes!” Sango gave a triumphal smile. Her friend was wearing black high heeled sandals, just the perfect combination for the dress she had just bought.
“They’re too high! I’ll fall and make a scene.” Images of falling in the punch came to Kagome’s mind; she shook the images off and glanced at her friend.
“Oh! Quit that pathetic look you give me. Besides, it doesn’t work anymore! Those are perfect, and you know it!” Kagome forcefully grabbed the finger Sango had pointing at her chest.
“I’m so clumsy!” Kagome argued. Sango sighed; yeah, she was aware of that fact.
“OK. Then you need to practice”
“Huh?”
“You need more shoes” Sango was grinning
“No way!”
“No spending limit!”
“NO!”
“It’s for a good cause! And if I tell the old gentlemen what happened last Christmas at you…” A hand on her mouth prevented Sango from speaking any more
“You win, OK? I don’t know how you manage to sleep at night! You are awful. And it’s mean to treat your best friend like this!”
“Sorry, Kagome,” Sango embraced her long time friend, “I just want you to impress everyone at the party!
“Ah! It’s OK! No harm done!”
So Sango spent the next half an hour finding Kagome some shoes with little heels to go to work in and prepare her for the real ones, the shoes she would wear on Friday night; the ones that would be the envy of all youkai females present.
“Now, we are all set. Friday afternoon you have to go see Jak, he is waiting for you.”
“Oh, I haven’t seen Jak in ages! How is he doing?”
“Well, as always. He is the queen of the party wherever he goes!” Sango and Kagome couldn’t stop the bursts of laughter that came out of their throats. They both loved Jak, they stood by him the day he came out of the closet, and they had been very good friends since then; however, Jak was banished from his parent’s house and had gone to live with his grandmother (who could have thought that an older person could be less narrow minded and more understanding than there own sibling!).
Even though they hadn’t seen each other for a long time, they had the type of friendship that doesn’t vanish, no matter how far apart they are.
It wasn’t until two weeks ago that Sango had received a phone call from Jakotsu telling her that he had returned, and now owned a beauty salon. Though Sango had to admit that was only a guess, because Jak never called it a beauty salon; she couldn’t remember his exact words, but he had said something along the lines of a “beauty repair shop”, but she probably hadn’t heard him right. Sango had promised to come and visit him along with Kagome, but it had been impossible so far. However, he wouldn’t miss the opportunity to make Kagome look like “Miss Universe” of the party.

Sesshomaru was leaning on his chair, his arms folded and crossed behind his head, cradling it. His eyelids were closed; he had experienced a hard day and needed to rest his eyes.
His cell phone rang, and he hastily answered with a short and to the point, “Yes?” Only to be met by silence. He insisted. “Who’s there? Answer” Then a familiar voice spoke. “Mr. Taisho? Sesshomaru Taisho?” “Yes?” “This is Katsumi.” “Hn.” If it was possible to hear movements he would have heard her rolling her eyes. “The woman you picked has agreed to meet you, so according to procedure, I will give you a contact phone number; I hope you find what you are looking for.”
Sesshomaru rested his forehead on his hands that were still grasping his cell phone. He was suddenly having second thoughts; his beast wasn’t fighting him as much. In fact, he had managed to silence it completely, and it wasn’t even a bother anymore. An image of him and Kagome in the swimming pool crossed his mind, and his head rose in a sudden motion.
NO! NOT AGAIN!
He hastily made a phone call.
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
Kagome was going to her room; she was walking down the corridor when Sesshomaru came out of his own room. He had dressed casually, but elegantly nonetheless. Anyway, you could give the youkai a flour sack to wear, and it would still make him look as grand as the king of Persia. She hated him at that moment; why did he have to be so good looking, with such a perfect body, and nice hair, and not to mention his hands, those masculine hands…so powerful? ‘You are ogling him, Kagome, and it’s making yourself look like an idiot.’ Lucky a part of her mind kept her feet on the ground (rather a toe at the moment). Why did she a fool of herself every time she crossed paths with that magnificent male specimen? A throat being cleared brought her back to the real world.
“Are you done ogling this Sesshomaru?” Kagome blushed several shades of red, swallowed hard and lifted her eyes till they focused on his amused ones. “Do I look decent enough to be allowed to go outside?” She blinked. After two more blinks she realised she was making a fool of herself. Again. And that he was teasing her. She also realized that she was so ashamed, she would never dare speak to him again, not outside work, of course. She was a professional after all, and she could put aside all her pride, which was now in a puddle at the base of her feet, for the sake of her profession.
Still as red as a tomato, she nodded, her eyes admiring the suddenly interesting carpet. She moved aside to let him pass and then ran to her room, jumped on the bed and snuggled under the blanket. She laid there until Inuyasha came to her rescue.
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
Sesshomaru had arrived at the restaurant where he had agreed to meet his date. Her name was Kagura, and she was a wind youkai as she had told him on the phone. She would be wearing a black dress with a red rose pinned to the strap. As usual, he had arrived before the set time; he wanted to get familiar with the restaurant she had chosen, or rather, he had let her choose. He was a gentleman after all, and he wanted her to feel comfortable on their first date.
He decided to wait for his date at the table, and as he waited, had ordered a glass of red wine. He was enjoying his drink when a voice pulled him from his musings.
“Sesshomaru-sama?”
He raised his head and saw a wonderful vision. The woman standing before him was a beautiful sight; she was tall for a woman and slender. She gave an overall appearance of serenity and calmness, much like him. She appeared regal; she was probably from a wealthy youkai family. He was instantly interested; she was the woman he needed by his side. He stood politely and bowed. “Kagura, I suppose?” The woman nodded and bowed in return.
As usual, the gentleman in him caused him to aid her to her seat at the table, even going as far as pulling the empty chair out for her to seat herself in. She smiled at his antics; there were only a few who followed the protocol of courtship. Her mother had trained her well, teaching her to play the game of the mild-mannered virgin. All her education centred on the importance of a good marriage; of course, that good marriage had to be to a wealthy and powerful youkai, whom, she would have eating out of the palm of her hand within no time with the impression that life without her would be pointless.
When she was young, Kagura had hated her mother for all the times she had mortified her by telling her how clumsy and unworthy she was. She had struggled to make her mother proud of her, but it wasn’t until she reached puberty, and she blossomed like a flower, soon becoming a beautiful and desirable female. Her mother then reduced her criticism to just mere advice, and it wasn’t before long that her mother’s secrets were revealed to a still young Kagura. At first, she used them to see how men reacted, and she was soon aware of how powerful a woman could be as long as she played her cards right and keep the aces hidden until the right moment. One thing her mother had advised her to do was to remain chaste as it was an extremely valued virtue in a youkai male, especially amongst the powerful ones, if one was to become a mate. She had listened to her mother in every sense, and now she was finally having the opportunity of her lifetime with the eldest of the Taishos.
She took some time watching the male in front of her, the act remaining unnoticed by said male. Sesshoumaru had become a coveted bachelor, and she was the first to have the opportunity to catch him and keep him for herself. She would just have to convince his inu that she was his chosen one. That was one of the lessons her mother had taught her about inu youkai; their inu was very important to them, especially when taking a mate as they are very faithful beings and mate for life. They let their instinctual side chose the right female.
She had chosen to remain silent until addressed, just like her mother had advised to do and waited for him to decide her meal. Sesshomaru kept glancing her way, not only was she beautiful, but modest as well, so odd for a wind youkai who were well known to covet their freedom and speak their minds; she was proving to be very well educated in nobility protocol.
After the waiter had taken their orders and left them alone, Sesshomaru began to ask her questions. He had to know if she could hold a conversation, and not just on fashion or other nonsensical issues, but deep, thought-filled subjects such as world issues. She answered them all and this satisfied him; she would be a fine mate. Her manners while eating were exquisite, not only did she have manners at the table, she also ate small bites and very little, just like a lady. Indeed, she would make a fine mate; Katsumi was proving useful.
By the end of the meal, his walls had disintegrated, any reservations he was feeling were gone. He had made up his mind; he needn’t look any more. He had already found a suitable mate. Now, she would have to prove she could handle his world.
“Kagura.” Her red eyes focused on his golden orbs, “Do you have any plans on Friday night?”
She barely contained a smile. She did it! Her mother was a genius! It had taken her just a meal to convince the most coveted bachelor to fall to her feet. She managed to return to her shy and modest attitude.
“No, Sesshomaru-sama. I have no plans on Friday night.”
“Hn. Now you do. You are to accompany me to a party.”
“How should I dress? Is it a formal or an informal event?
He was secretly pleased; she seemed to know nothing about the event, and that crossed her off his list of wealth seekers.
“It is a very formal event. Dress accordingly. I will come and pick you up at eight.” Wiping his mouth with the napkin that sat neatly on his lap, he put it on the table and stood up retrieving her chair in a gentlemanly way and held a hand to help her up. “The night has been wonderful, but I have to work tomorrow and should retire. Have you come here by your car, or do you need a lift?”
She smiled victoriously that was another of her mother’s lesson. Make the male feel needed, and make him feel like he is your hero. “I don’t like driving, so I took a taxi. I can return the same way, don’t worry.”
Sesshomaru brought her hand to his lips and kissed them softly. Kagura shivered, the man had such soft lips! She couldn’t wait to have him in bed; he would make a wonderful lover! “I’ll take none of this; I shall take you home.”
No more words were said. The couple left the restaurant followed by several looks of envy or admiration. They made such a wonderful couple!
Here is another chapter, I hope you all enjoy it!! Jus let me know what you think!
