Final Goodbye
**************************************************************************
It was a sad day that day. Everyone that they had ever knew had showed up to pay respect to Inuyasha and Kikyou. They were to be buried together (not in the same coffin you bunch of sickos). Kikyou's coffin was white with black flowers carved in it. Inuyasha's coffin was black with white flowers carved in it. They were a perfect match. It was a sunny day, with slight rain... making it seem that even the heavens above mourned their passing.
The day found Kagome in the front row with Sesshomaru. It had been a week from when Inuyasha passed away that day in the hospital. Kagome had calmed down, and she stopped crying. Then the nurse handed her a letter from Inuyasha to his son.
*Flash Back*
"Miss Tashio?" said a nurse.
"Yes?" Kagome asked looking at the nurse.
"Ummm I know this is not the time, but Mr. Inuyasha had written a letter to his son. He wanted you to have it so that you could give it to him when he got older to understand." said the nurse as she handed a sealed envelope over to Kagome.
Kagome's tears came back just like that. Inuyasha's son had would never know his father or mother. His father found a way to say goodbye, but what about Kikyou... she died before she even saw him.
Sesshomaru held his beautiful wife and let her cry. She had to in order to be able to let go of Inuyasha.
He still didn't know what Inuyasha and Kagome talked about in the room while they were alone. He had a feeling that it was going to be alright though no matter what.
"Ummm Mr. Tashio?" said the nurse looking up to Sesshomaru.
"Yes?" he asked the nurse.
"He also wrote one to you sir." said the nurse as she handed over another envelope to Sess.
Sesshomaru looked at the envelope in shocked surprise. He never thought that Inuyasha would say goodbye to him. They had never really gotten along with each other. He looked over at Kagome and saw her looking surprise as well.
*End of Flash Back*
Kagome didn't know what was said in that letter. She hadn't looked at the letter she received either. She put it away for safe keeping. She hadn't talked to Sess about taking home Inuyasha's son yet. He was still in the hospital being carefully watched incase something showed up.
*****************************************
Sesshomaru sat quietly in the chair next to his wife Kagome. He felt her sadness over Kikyou's and Inuyasha's death. He remembered the night he cried over Inuyasha's death so clearly....
*Flash Back*
Kagome had went to sleep when they got home from the hospital and he knew she needed time alone.
He had gone to his study and sat there quietly thinking things over. He was the one responsible for giving Inuyasha's and Kikyou's farewell speech. He had no idea what to tell other people about them.
Giving up for the night. He got up to go to bed when he felt something in his pocket.
He took whatever it was out and noticed it was the envelope that the nurse had said was from Inuyasha.
He thought about just putting it up for another day. But something told him to open it. So he did and this is what it said:
----Inuyasha's letter to Sesshomaru----
Dear Sesshomaru,
I know that we have never been close at all in our whole lives. I don't expect you to miss me while I am gone. I wanted you to know that I respected you always. No matter what went wrong I really did respect you above all others. I never really thought of you as a cousin really. You were the brother I never had. You are an intelligent man and one I was proud to know and have relation with.
I know that you will never forgive me for what I did to Kagome. I will not be able to forgive myself for that. I was wrong and I know that. Maybe death is my punishment for not only doing wrong by Kagome, but by doing wrong by Kikyou as well. I started treating her right and everything was fine. Then I saw you and Kagome together for the first time. Everything faded away then. A hatred burned deep inside of me and I no longer cared about anything or anyone. I was jealous that you had my Kagome. I never realized how much I truly did love her... until she was gone from me. I am truly sorry for that. I know now that you were the best thing for her. You always were. I was selfish and I know this.
I know I have no reason for asking this but I must. I hope someday you will understand. As you well know by this time. I have a son. He will be left parentless with my death. I grew up this way and would never wish it for my own blood. I am asking you now... not as a relative, but as a man. Please raise my son in my place. He doesn't have a name at the moment. I will leave that to you and Kagome. I have planned on talking with Kagome about this issue. So if I am gone then assume that I have done so. I do not know what her answer will be. I can only hope that the both of you will do this one favor for me. I wish to die knowing that my son will be taken care of for all time.
I beg this of you. Please have mercy on him, don't hold him responsible for my mistakes. I wish you the very best in life Sesshomaru. Take care of my child and take care of Kagome. She's special to all that know her. I thank you brother of my heart.
-Inuyasha Tashio
----End of letter----
Sesshomaru stared at the letter in his hands. His hand shook as one single tear fell from his eye. Soon more followed. He could do this one last thing for Inuyasha. He could love his son and raise him as his own.
He finally thought of something to use at the funeral. He started typing at his computer.
*End of Flash Back*
Sesshomaru was taken out of his thoughts as the priest looked at him and asked for him to come up and read what he had prepared. Sesshomaru looked at Kagome and squeezed her hand to comfort her. Then he went up and took his spot. He looked at the people gathered around his brothers and Kikyou's funeral and then he nodded his head.
----Sesshomaru's Speech----
I will start off by thanking you all for being her on this sad day. To pay respect to Kikyou and Inuyasha. I will start with Kikyou.
Kikyou was a very interesting person. She was independent to the very end. She knew what she wanted and made sure she always got it. At least as much as possible for her to do on her own. I remember her as a very creative. She loved all kinds of things. Nobody actually knew this about her, but she loved everyone in her own special way. Nobody ever thought that she would love Inuyasha. They thought wrong. She loved him with her whole heart and wouldn't give up on him. Not even in the end. She held on to give him a son.
I knew for a fact she loved her child with her whole heart even more than everyone else. The saddest thing I think in this situation is that she will never be able to hold her son in her arms for the first time. She will never be able to sing him to sleep. She will never be able to hug him when he was sad or comfort him when he needs it. She will never be able to kiss his knee to make it better when he falls off his bike. She wont be able to see his first steps. She wont be able to hear him speak his first words. She will never see that or know that. She will watch from heaven as someone else does these things with her child. I know that she would have wanted to be here more than anything for her son. But fate played a cruel game with Kikyou and took her away before her time. I know for a fact that she would be happy to know that you are here today. So I will thank you for her.
Inuyasha and I never really did get along. I think it was because we didn't understand each other well. I can honestly say that Inuyasha was the little brother I never had. In my heart he will reside as such.. my brother for eternity. I loved him even if I could never say so in front of others. I say it now for all to hear. I loved him and I really did care. Inuyasha was a brave man. He held firm to whatever he felt and thought.
He would love to know that you are all here to say goodbye to him as well. I for one will miss Inuyasha. I don't know what I would do without him. He was special Inuyasha was. He didn't always do right and he knew it, but his stupid pride wouldn't let him tell that to others. He loved you all in his own special way. He will now look upon us from where he resides with his love Kikyou. Live and love like it will be the last day of your life everyday, cuz you never know when it will be taken from you. That is what I have learned from this terrible terrible accident. Thank you... that is all I have to say.
With that Sesshomaru walked back to his chair and sat down. Kagome hugged him with tears in her eyes at what he had said.
----End of Sesshomaru's Speech----
The priest finished everything else and Kagome and Sesshomaru sat there as the caskets were sent to rest in the ground.
They got up and threw a handful of dirt into the graves each along with two flowers.
After that they stayed to until everyone else left.
"Kagome it's time to go home. Are you ready?" Sesshomaru asked Kagome.
Kagome looked up at her husband and smiled a true smile since the accident. "I feel at peace now. Like it's okay to smile now. Yes I'm ready to go home."
Sesshomaru smiled down at Kagome and then grabbed her hand and led her to the car. They got in and drove home.
