Chapter 12 Good Bye for Now

Kaede awoke early like usual to get started on breakfast. Stepping out of her room she was surprised that a fire was already started and a pot of water had been set for tea. Looking around her old eye sparkled, some time during the night Miroku had made it to where Songo lay and they were now curled around one another, Rose was sleeping with the children, and the great and powerful demon lord was smiling while cuddling a miko turned demon.

The short imp that followed lord Sesshomaru walked into the hut and saw that Kaede was up. He tended the fire and placed leaves into the water. Kaede set another pot besides the other and started on a stew for breakfast. They both left to gather herbs from the garden in back. Both held respect for one another Jaken because he knew she could purify him in an instant just by looking at him and Kaede because he kept his lord good company and did his job well.

Soon the children stirred and ran outside to play. Rose followed them and made sure they stayed near the hut. She basked in the sun and wondered how the day was to turn out.

Kagome awoke in the arms of Sesshomaru and looked to see his stoic mask tuned into a smile ‘oh if I only had a camera’ she thought as she snuggled down into he demon lord. Sesshomaru woke to find muscles on his face sore he looked down to the girl he was holding to see mirth clearly evident on her features.

“You know you smile when you sleep” Kagome said hardly able to maintain her glee. “This Sesshomaru does not smile Kagome” he stated in a matter of fact way. Kagome’s face tuned into a big grin “you know if I am telling a lie right?” she asked. “Yes” he responded not liking the way she was saying things. “You Lord Sesshomaru were smiling last night and I bet those un-used muscles in your face are sore from the efforts to keep your mouth up” she finished smile widening.

Sesshomaru scented the air to discover that no deceit was present, no joking manner was present in her voice and in deeded his face was a little sore around his mouth. He brought a clawed hand to his lips and inspected his face. Kagome looked up at him and just chuckled.

“You should do it more often when your around me, I really like it” she confided in him breaking him out of his stupor. Sesshomaru looked down to the miko in his lap and lost himself in the beauty he saw. Even in waking she could call to his male instincts. Leaning till his nose met hers, Sesshomaru’s eyes never left the silver of Kagome’s. Softly he pressed his lips on hers begging for acceptance. Kagome responded in turn pressing hers harder to the soft flesh before her. Sesshomaru took the opportunity and shifted her in his lap so he could roam her sides with clawed hands.

Kagome was lost in the kisses. Her hands were tangled in his hair and her wings were covering the couple from the curious looks of the retainer and older miko. Sesshomaru’s hands had made it to her succulent breast and were grabbing them firmly. She broke the kiss and arched her back so he could touch her farther…

“Hentai!!!!!!” Songo’s voice rang out followed by a resounding slap and then a thud that could only be Miroku.

The two in the corner stopped what they were doing and kagome turned round to look at her friend’s angry and surprised face. Sesshomaru pulled her close to him and nuzzled his face in the junction of her neck and shoulder trying to cool his blood from their previous dealings. Kagome only could look at her friend and blush a deep red. Looking around the room she discovered Kaede and Jaken also had looks on their faces that told they had witnessed the exchange between the two demons.

Inuyasha took that time to enter the room and sniffed the air. The look that came over his face was pure disgust. “Hey, I may not like the fact that you are mating Kagome, Sesshomaru but you as well I know she is not to be touched until the day of the mating. So keep it in your pants” he scoffed out looking at the unconscious monk on the floor. “What did he do now Songo?” Inuyasha said like it was nothing. “He tried to get friendly with me at night. I found him cuddled with me when I awoke. Songo said still agitated by the encounter. Even though it was nice she still had a job to do and it would not do well for her to be involved in a relationship when she could possibly have her heart broken by his death.

Kagome looked at Inuyasha like he had grown three heads. Maneuvering out of Sesshomaru’s lap much to his dislike she sat before the Hanyou.

Raising a hand she knocked on his head. “Uh earth to Inuyasha, earth to Inuyasha…are you in their” she said feeling his forehead earning a growl behind her to which she looked back and pinned him with a leave it look. “What!?” he spat shacking off her hand, and folding his arms in his sleeves glaring at her. “well I was only checking to see if you were ok seeing as you run off last night and come back as if every thing is ok” Kagome said looking into his eyes. “I had some thinking to do ok. I needed to realize that what I had done was wrong and I deserve what I’m getting” Inuyasha said looking at his brother waiting for the remark he knew was coming.

“Did you hurt yourself with all that thinking dear brother” Sesshomaru said getting up and putting his armor back on. “Ha ha fluff for brains, you think of that all by yourself” Inuyasha countered. Everyone looked at Inuyasha in surprise he had actually come up with and intelligent comeback other then ‘I’m going to kill you’. “Inuyasha what has gotten into you?” Kagome asked. “Nothing wench, now leave me alone will you” Inuyasha said.

“Sit boy” Kagome said. “Don’t call me a wench” cursing could be heard from the inu-hanyou. The spell released and he stood up. “What did you do that for Kagome?” he said looking angry. “if your brother is going to call me by my name then it is only fair that you have too as well, and for every instance that you don’t you will be sat until you can address me properly” Kagome said looking at him with determination. He ‘fuh’ed and took the bowl that Kaede offered him and sat in his corner. Every one else came in and settled down to eating the breakfast, well everyone but Sesshomaru that is. Despite Kagome’s attempts to coax him he refused and went out to hunt for himself.

After the girls had finished up eating Kagome decided that a nice bath was in order. Songo, Rose, and Rin followed her to the hot springs near by.

“I can’t believe that you are going through with this Kagome” Songo said stepping into the water. “I made a deal ad I intend to see it through Songo. Any way its not going to be all that bad after the ceremony I will be back as part of the agreement he is allowing me to continue the shard hunt. And of course I won’t go with out you so if he wishes to tag along he will have to be civil towards my friends that includes Inuyasha” Kagome said soaping up her long locks of hair and diving into the water to rinse the suds out. Moments later she popped out and threw her hair over her shoulder by her wings.

“Lady Kagome, if I may ask where did you go last night? I sensed Sesshomaru’s aura the whole time while you were away and wondered where your family lived at.” Rose said while brushing her long hair with clawed tipped fingers. “Well I went to my family, that is I went to the old well and teleported to my time I’m from the future Rose” Kagome said getting the soap out of Rin’s hair and sending her to the shore to dry off. Rose looked shocked at the girl in front of her. “Well that explains a lot to me now I always wondered why I couldn’t trace you to any particular point with my abilities. You see I’m a different demon, I really should be called a hanyou but I have no human parents. I am what you would call a mystic I see into people and tell their past, present, and future. It’s why I really don’t have many friends they don’t like the fact that I can see every thing that they have done” Rose said getting out and drying so she could take Rin back. “Well consider your self lucky you now have two friends that won’t let you down any time Rose” Kagome said looking up at the demon. Rose just smiled wide and led Rin off to go play with Shippo.

Songo looked at Kagome’s new changed form before speaking seeing the change in her friend. “What will happen when this is all over?” She said soaking in the steamy water. Kagome felt his presence enter the area and knew he was close. She looked at Songo and winked letting her friend know that they were being watched. “I was thinking about mounting the head of a very nosy monk on my palace wall for peeping on us so many times” Kagome said while Songo threw her boomerang and hit Miroku knocking him out cold. Songo rubbed her temples “you would think that he would learn by now, especially now that Sesshomaru has claimed you, if he only knew what trouble he would get into” Songo said getting out and getting dressed. Kagome followed and soon they were chatting away making their way back to the hut.

Sesshomaru was holding an unconscious monk and looking very un-happy. Both the girls looked at one another and smiled Miroku was about to be taught a very good lesson.

“Why did I happen across this lecher near your bathing springs?” Sesshomaru asked. “He WAS trying to peep on us” Songo said. Rage was evident in his eyes. The monk was dropped to the ground waking him from his stupor.

Miroku woke with a splitting headache blurring his vision. ‘Man that woman can hit hard’ he thought. As his eyes cleared he wished he would have remained un-aware. Looking down at him was a very pissed off demo lord with red tinged eyes. “If I ever find you attempting to look at my mate again I shall personally award you with a slow painful end monk” Sesshomaru said while clenching his hands allowing the joints to pop for emphasis. Miroku could only nod his head and gulp. The two girls were looking with glee at his misfortune all the years of having to slap him had just gotten better with that one look directed at the monk.

“Kagome gather you things we will be departing soon for the western lands” Sesshomaru said after he had got done threatening Miroku. Kagome looked at her friends with a sad smile on her face. Deep in her heart she knew it was for the better. The next time she saw them she would be the new lady of the west and Sesshomaru would be her lord.

Gathering up her bag and making sure to leave all the ramen for Inuyasha she hugged each of her friends and said good byes to each. Miroku being the last he was aware of the golden eyes watching his every move. Inuyasha had been the easiest to say good bye because he had said it for her.

“Take care of your self will ya, I don’t want to hear you crying over how much ice prince over there is being a jackass we know it already keep him out of trouble will ya. I’ll see you by the end of the week for the ceremony...and no comments on the outfit I will be wearing either it is the last and only time you will EVER see me wear it.” Inuyasha had said in her ear while giving her a big hug.

Kagome waved as she stepped onto the cloud and made sure that Rose and the children were safely with Auh-uhn and Jaken. Sesshomaru began to rise up and snaked his arm around her waist. Once again tears entered her eyes at the thought of what all of this meant. ‘I’m doing this for myself no one else’ echoed in her mind as the last specks of her friends disappeared into the ground. She snuggled into the body that held her and hoped that every thing was going to be alright.
