Chapter Ten

Kurama put the dvd in as soon as everyone sat down with their food. Everyone ate but Chu who was passed out on the floor finally. It was an action flick about ninjas hunting a cop. All the females were seated on the couch while the men took the floor. Rinku and Jin were using Chu as a table while they ate.

"Watch he's going to catch the bullet with his teeth." Kuwabara said.

"He must have in dentures." Tar watched as the ninja did indeed catch the bullet in his teeth. "If he can do that with his mouth imagine what he can do with his.... Owie." A quick jab to the side from an elbow shut her up.

"We are trying to eat here." Mai scolded her.

"I was going to say hands you dog, we see where your mind is." She grumbled under her breath. "Someone needs to get laid."

"I heard that."

"Yay, your ears work."

"Ah, I saw a wire." Kagome shouted. The ninja was running along the wall, defying gravity.

"You did not." Kuwabara peered at the head. "You're seeing things."

"I did too you bonehead. Rewind that damn thing, I saw it."

Kurama used the remote just so Kagome could point it out to the big idiot. "She's right, the light is reflecting off it."

"Hah, told you." Kagome smirked at him. The rest of dinner was ate in silence as they watched the cop slowly kill off all the ninjas. All the plates were taken into the kitchen, then the next movie was put in. She laughed to see it was the first movie from the sequel they'd gone to see the other night. "I can't believe you grabbed this one knowing we were coming over."

"I figured since Yusuke didn't get to enjoy the other one, I'd rent this one."

"And who's damn fault was that?" He turned to glare at Tar.

"Why are you looking at me? I didn't do anything."

"So that was someone else bugging the shit out of me?" He asked.

"At least she didn't make any crude noises unlike someone else." Hiei stated.

Kagome was in the process of taking a sip of her drink. She began to choke as humiliation filled her. Oh she was going to kill someone.

"At least neither of you got blamed for it." Kurama remembered that all too well. "That was humiliating to say the least."

Several pairs of eyes turned to glare at the small girl, all for various reasons. "Why is everyone staring at me? Its not my fault Yusuke was being loud and the usher threatened to throw him out. It's not my fault Kagome farted and felt the need to blame it on Red. I'm trying to watch the movie, so stop staring at me." She pouted. "What is this, pick on Tar day?"

"Oh yeah, since we're all friends can you do me a favor shorty?" Kuwabara was looking at Tar.

"Give you a fat lip?" Kagome asked.

"Very funny, my kitten is acting weird. Can you come over and ask her what's wrong? I took her to the vet but he said she's fine."

"Really? Wanna go now? I've seen this movie already." She asked, anything to get away from all these glares.

"Okay, we can walk there. It's about twenty minutes. But you might have to walk back by yourself."

"Ummm," She wasn't sure what to say about that. Walk back alone, what if it was dark.

"What's wrong, not scared are ya?"

Mai threw the coaster knocking him in the forehead. "Jerk, I'll walk with you if no one else will Tar."

"No, I can go alone. I don't want to pull you away from your date. I should be okay."

"NO, you will not walk alone." Mai was putting her foot down.

"I'll go with them and walk her back." Touya offered. "If that's okay."

"Great," Tar jumped up. "Let's go, I love kittens."

Touya followed the two out the front door. Kurama waited for the door to close before asking, "What was the problem? The girl is more than capable of taking care of herself?"

"She's petrified of the dark. It's kind of complicated." Mai didn't know how to explain it.

"Why? Shouldn't she have grown out of that when she reached puberty." Yusuke commented.

"Baka." Hiei looked at the closed door. "When was she found?"

"Six years ago actually." Mai answered. Even Kagome listened intently as they conversed.

"Did they ever find out who did it?"

"No but she has learned to deal with it."

"Do you two mind?" Yusuke screamed. "You're confusing the hell out the rest of us."

"It doesn't take much for you." Hiei turned back around and let the conversation drop as did Mai.

Kurama planned on prying his friend for answers later. He quickly took the seat the girl had vacated putting him next to Mai. He casually threw his arm around the back of the couch. A few minutes later, Yusuke, Jin and Rinku decided to go back upstairs to finish their game.

Hiei jumped on the couch next to the miko. She jerked when his thigh brushed across hers. Soon the only sounds that echoed through the room was the television and Chu's snoring.

Kurama noticed the way Mai leaned forward to avoid getting close to him. Deciding to take a chance, he leaned forward. "Would you mind going outside to get some fresh air with me?"

"Okay." She chewed on her lip nervously. He offered his hand and she took it. She cast a quick glance back at Kagome.

Kagome felt her heart land in her lap. What the hell had just happened? She was suddenly left alone with Hiei! Sure the drunk was on the floor passed out but he didn't count dammit. She heard movement beside her and almost freaked. "What are you doing?"

"Relax miko, I'm not going to attack you." Hiei smirked. She was so nervous, she'd fly through the roof if he so much as sneezed. "I won't kiss you unless you ask."

"Excuse me," She turned to glare at him. The nerve of this guy. Like she would really ask him to kiss her. "I wouldn't kiss you if you were the last male...." Her words were silenced as his mouth crashed down on hers. She hadn't even seen him move. Her eyes closed as he applied more pressure. His hand was resting on the back of her neck pulling her to him. His tongue slid over her bottom lip. A jolt shot through her causing her to gasp. She felt his tongue dip inside barely tasting her mouth. He deepened the kiss as she relaxed against him.

He forced himself further into her mouth, he felt her tongue come up to meet his. His blood began to stir as she began to kiss him back. Their tongues dueled, his seeking dominance over hers. He heard the moan low in her throat and continued to ravish her mouth. She tasted sweet, he couldn't seem to get enough.

"Now thats every bloke's fantasy."

Hiei jerked back from her and scowled at the drunk. Kagome felt her cheeks grow flush as the man stared at her in awe. It didn't matter that he woudn't remember it in the morning.
