Chapter 12
It all Started with a Nameless Beauty
A/N: um… I know that my chapters are short… and I’m really sorry, but if you’ve EVER written a fic then you know that when you type it up it seems SOO much longer than how it really is. I thought my last chapter was pretty long, but really it was… pretty short. SORRY! I don’t really notice it until I’ve finished it and I’ve waited a few days and read it again. -_-;; Sorry!
I’m trying to type more, but my muse seems to have left me. Damn muse! Abandoning your own author in the middle of a fic! -_- *Sigh*
Sorry again for the long wait… just that I still have school and BIG tests are coming up so I can’t type much and think much. Must save brain room for studies, not plots…. DAMN! I wish it were the other way around. Anyways, here you go again, and SORRY once more!
SOOOOO SOOOOORRRRRRYYYYYY!!!!!
Well, after a REALLY long period of time, here you go…
~~~^~~~^~~~
Chapter 12:
Youko kneeled down by his beauty and he looked her over. She was as peaceful as a lamb. Staring for more than he cared, he finally picked himself off the floor and walked towards the door. He had to get back to some business.
He walked out of his room remembering to lock the door this time, and dragged one foot in front of the other, slowly, painfully, wanting to stay close to his love. But he knew that he had to get back to work since the past few days were occupied by his newly found treasure.
He continued on with his duty and arrived at his study. There, were all his layouts of castle grounds, plans of theft, and random weapons and prizes hanging in the room. He calmly walked over to his desk, plopped himself in his chair and lifted his legs on to his desktop.
‘What to do?’ he thought to himself, ‘ I thought I told myself I had some work to do.’
Youko sighed and looked on his desk, papers everywhere, ‘well, I guess I should start by looking for something that I want.’
He looked through all the papers collected by his group of thieves, each having information about something expensive, beautiful, in other words, worth something. He sighed and left his room, turning corners left and right, walking down the never-ending hallways, until he came to the mouth of the cave.
The day was bright, clouds in the air, birds chirping in the distance, his men lounging around. Nothing was out of the ordinary.
He walked over to his fellow thieves and gathered them around, “Men, it has come to my attention that there is nothing worth our time to take. You may all take a leave of absence for the next 2 weeks, unless any one of you hear of something that takes your fancy come back and report to me, or anyone else who is here. If no one is present, stay until the others or I get back and we shall have a new mission. Until then, you may have this time to yourselves, for those who wish to stay be my guest, and for those who wish otherwise, you may leave.”
His comrades looked at each other with puzzled looks, their leader has never done anything like this before. He would always find something to do or take. It was what he lived for; apparently he had found something new in his life. Some stayed, while most left. They would find something to do.
Youko turned back towards his cave and made his way towards his bedroom where his hanyou was sleeping. Again through the twists and turns, he came to the door and pressed his ear upon it to see if she was still sleeping.
Hearing nothing, he unlocked the door and slowly crept inside. Looking towards the futon, he saw that she was missing! The door was locked, so that means she didn’t escape, meaning she was just hiding SOMEwhere in the room.
As soon as that thought came through his head, a foot came flying towards his head. Youko simply sighed, and held out his hand, immediately grabbing the ankle and pulling the attacker off its feet. The figure fell butt first onto the floor.
“Itai!!!” the voice screamed in surprise.
“How many times do I have to tell you?” Youko asked, “You are mine and you can’t leave.”
Kagome stared blankly at him from the floor. Sighing, she got up from the floor and said, “How many times do I have to tell you that I am NOBOD-” She suddenly paused, and whispered, “Jewel shards.”
Youko quickly spread out his senses and indeed he felt a youkai approaching them very quickly. He immediately grabbed onto Kagome’s wrist and carried her outside, “How many shards Kagome?”
“I’m not sure, but there are A LOT,” she responded, ‘and that only means one thing, Naraku.’
Through the bushes and the trees, Inuyasha suddenly came into view. He looked straight ahead, seeing Youko still clinging on Kagome, “Let go of her you stupid kitsune! And GET DOWN!!”
A tentacle came whipping through the air chasing after Inuyasha. “Inuyasha!” Kagome screamed, but before the tentacle came down upon the hanyou for the final blow a boomerang flew through the air, slicing the tentacle clean off, “Hiraikotsu!”
Sango, with Miroku, came bounding from the skies atop of Kirara. “Kagome-chan!”
“Kagome-sama”
“Ka-go-ME!!!” a little kitsune shouted who was hiding behind a certain monk.
All three voices screamed in unison. Kirara landed next to her and let the riders off. Inuyasha arrived to the group and was glaring at the fox.
“What’s going on?” Kagome asked.
Inuyasha responded by grabbing Kagome out of Youko’s arms glaring at the bandit once more, and said, “Naraku is coming after us. I think it’s time for the final battle, Kagome.”
Kagome stared wide-eyed and realization flickered through her brain. She quickly half leapt half ran towards the cave, but only to come back with her bow and arrow, as well as her pouch stored with kunai.
“I’m ready.”
“No you’re not,” Youko said out plain as day. This response gave everyone a strike to the head.
“WHAT?!?!”
“You heard me Kagome. You are not going to fight. I do not want my future mate in any danger. I will fight for you and protect you with everything I have, even if it takes my life. If you do not think I am worthy enough to be your mate, then I’ll show you that I AM!”
A quick pause responded to his actions. “WHA-” Inuyasha was about to yell, until the ground began to shake.
Trees were falling; birds were fleeing fearing for their lives. “Naraku,” they all said under their breaths.
“I’m glad you remember me,” Naraku said in his dead detached voice.
Everyone stood on guard, none daring to move an inch. Everything seemed to have frozen, for this was the time of judgment.
“What? No greeting?” he laughed, “Kukuku.”
Inuyasha finally snapped out of his stupor, “HERE! I HAVE A GIFT FOR YOU!” he yelled, pulling out his sword at the same time, “KAZE NO KIZU! (WIND SCAR!)”
“Foolish hanyou,” the enemy responded. “You are nothing compared to me.” He quickly moved his tentacles in between him and the attack. The attack tore up the tentacles, piece by piece. It held no more momentum and immediately stopped after shredding Naraku’s limbs.
The bits and pieces of flesh flying around instantaneously began to piece themselves together.
Before Naraku’s limbs could assemble, the rest of the shard-hunting group took action. Miroku ran towards the side of Naraku, looking for a blind spot, calculating, waiting for the timing to strike. Sango on the other hand, went straight on riding Kirara. Holding Hiraikotsu, she charged towards Naraku with every intent to help her companions as well as to avenge her clan and family.
Naraku immediately noticed the demon slayer soaring through the sky, ready to launch an attack. Turning his attention towards her, Miroku took out two houriki (those paper charms- or is it fouriki?) and threw them towards the demon.
Naraku was hit squarely by the monk’s attack but it seemed to have no effect. He only smirked and turned his attention back to the taijiya. He reached forth with his limbs and attacked all of them at once.
One straight for Sango, one for the Houshi, one for Inuyasha, and another for the remaining two.
Sango used hiraikotsu to block the attack, but Miroku was grazed along his stomach, blood spurting out. Inuyasha quickly dodged and attempted to attack once more, with his most powerful attack, Bakuryuha. But with a second glance towards his friends, they were all in range of his attack and he decided to keep to his usual fighting.
Youko quickly grabbed Kagome as the appendage was headed straight for them and carried her deep within the cave. He quickly shoved her within the room and locked it once again.
“STOP IT! YOU CRAZY BASTARD! I CAN FIGHT!”
“Kagome, please, just stay here. Everything will be alright.”
Youko quickly left the fuming Kagome in the room and joined the battle. “Rose Whip!” he yelled as he pulled a rose from his hair. The rose transformed into a whip stronger than any known to mankind. It was able to cut through metal and it sure as hell was going to cut through the bastard who was hurting his mate and her friends!
The four attacked Naraku, never letting down. The onslaught continued for quite a while, swipes of blades, hurling of boomerangs, plastering of fouriki, and whisking of whips. Everything was in chaos.
Miroku was losing blood as well as strength. He needed to use someone else’s strength. “Sango!” he yelled and quickly threw his staff towards her. She nodded and attached it to her boomerang and threw them in combination towards the youkai.
The attack proved effective. The couple was able to slice through many of Naraku’s limbs and parts of his body. “Kaze no Kizu!” Inuyasha yelled.
More damage was made towards the enemy and Naraku was slowly depleting in energy and body parts.
Youko finally took out another weapon. He reached into his hair and retrieved a seed, “Makai no Ojigisou!” (Which means Demon Mimosa; it’s the weapon that was used when Kurama first changes into Youko Kurama in the Dark Tournament, the one used against the whip/fishing rod guy.)
The transformation began to take place. The plant quickly enlarged and grabbed onto the enemy. Its acid burning flesh, and it’s teeth tearing it to pieces.
Naraku was losing and he knew it. “AHH!!!” he screamed, “No! It’s not possible, I cannot lose!”
Soon after his call, everything went still. Shippou, who was hiding elsewhere, ran towards the cave to get Kagome.
Miroku quickly looked at his hand, Kazaana, was it still there?
He slowly took the prayer beads off and pulled away the cloth covering his palm. Heart beating a mile a minute, his palms sweating, he had to know! Did he finally achieve his goal and kill Naraku? Did he avenge everyone’s misfortune? He peeled the first layer of cloth off and then the last layer. It was still there!
As soon as this dawned on him, Naraku had already pieced himself back to his original form and released poisonous bees (Siamyosho). His body was underground the entire time. Naraku quickly surged from the ground and rose to his true height. Twice the size of everyone fighting. He quickly swung his arms around and knocked everyone down.
Sango and Kirara went flying into a tree, both being knocked unconscious. Miroku was toppled by the tentacles as well, and did not have enough time to close Kazaana (air rip/void). The bees were sucked into his palm, and Miroku collapsed to the floor pulling the beads over his hand. He was poisoned. “Shit! I should have paid more attention. Now everything is left with Inuyasha and Youko.” The urge to fall was great, but so was his will to fight. In the end, with pain shown clearly on his face, he fell unconscious.
The two remaining were exhausted, heaving for air.
‘Shit!’ Inuyasha thought, ‘What are we going to do?’
Naraku took advantage of his ponderous state, and swung at him, knocking the hanyou to the ground and pinning him there. “Finally!” he thought. With another tentacle, Naraku pierced Inuyasha through the chest, or would have if there wasn’t something in the way.
Youko had jumped in between them both and was stabbed through his stomach.
Everything was silent, and seemed to be in slow motion. Inuyasha stared above of him, not believing his own eyes. Seeing the fox in his pure white outfit, with a gaping hole in his stomach, it made his stomach lurch. Not because of the blood that was dripping from Youko, but because of Youko’s action.
“W-wh-why?!” Inuyasha asked.
“Because, Kagome loves you and she would never forgive me if anything were to happen to you.”
Youko collapsed onto Inuyasha, staining both of their clothes with blood. With his vision blurring, Youko saw Kagome running towards him from the cave with Shippou in tow. She was running. She was running to HIM, with tears.
Her perfect cheeks were stained with the saltiness and streaks of her tears.
‘Kagome’ was the last thing Youko thought before he left to a different world.
Kagome screamed into the air, anger gathering within her small body. Her aura flared with such power, her tears began to dry and she stared Naraku straight in the eye. Her power was circulating around her, causing her hair to flow against the law of gravity and everything in her path to disintegrate.
With 2 kunai drawn, she charged towards him with unimaginable speed. She sliced at his form, doing more damage then the previous combating her friends had done.
She jumped high into the air, reaching the height of Naraku and slashed at his face. As she descended from her jump, she continuously slashed at him. Left, right, up, and down, she clearly had Naraku beaten. But with his regenerating ability, he never seemed to be in defeat.
Kagome, with her temper under some control, retreated from Naraku and retrieved her bow and arrows.
“Inuyasha!” she yelled. He was already on his feet, ready to step in the battle anytime. With Miroku, Sango and Kirara farther away lying unconscious, he knew what she wanted.
He gave a quick nod, and raised his sword, “Bakuryuha!”
Kagome notched two arrows in her bow. “Naraku! This is your end! One is for all the suffering you have caused! And the other one… the other one is for me, me and Youko!”
She let loose her power in the arrows and let them fly. They swirled around one another encircling with Inuyasha’s attack and hit Naraku square in the chest. With a final scream, Naraku vanished from the face of the earth.
~~~^~~~^~~~
Kagome stared in awe. This was her power.
She then quickly collapsed to the floor. Inuyasha rushed towards her, “Kagome! Are you alright? Did he hurt you? Kagome! Say something!”
Kagome turned to him with tear-filled eyes and whispered, “Youko.”
