Disclaimer:
I do not own InuYasha, nor make money from this story.
one hundred fourteen
One hundred Fourteen and I still own nothing. *sigh* This is it, the last chapter. You all have been so wonderful. I wish that this story could have gone on forever, but I do need to devote more time to my current working manuscript. I plan on recognizing the good readers of AFF within it's dedication. Will post more info when it's ready to go. For now, enjoy!
One hundred Fourteen
"Are you certain?" Inuyasha asked for the hundredth time, Sesshoumaru was beginning to imagine all sorts of ghastly ways to shut him up. Kagome on the other hand merely smiled and patted her stomach. "Tomorrow night is the best period in which to concieve her again. Victor was very thorough in his research and the scrolls are nearly impossible to confuse" she said firmly.
Inuyasha smiled, a feeling of contentment washing over him. His own true failure, he believed, had been the death of his daughter. It was something that had eaten away at he and Kagome for a very long time. He'd nearly lost his gentle mate to her grief. His beast would not allow that however and slowly she had come to terms with the way things had happened.
Nearly two years had passed since that dark day, Kagome had felt it best to fully grieve the child lost to them before bringing her back again. Inuyasha had simply agreed. He had a great deal to keep his mind active in that time. Aislin was growing round with twins of all things, apparently two sons to the stoic Toga. Ryu hadn't shirked his duty either. Silvana had birthed a daughter to him, and he was diligently trying for a son.
Satoru and Victor had taken several orphans in at the Academy, not as students only, but as they children they would not be able to produce for themselves. Daishi was thrilled of course, for she knew that they would have all the love and care any child could ever want, and her own kits would have playmates. She and Shippo had a delightful daughter, who found her mother's explosive hobbies quite interesting. Inuyasha had pointed out that might not be a good thing, considering the tempers of her parents.
Tohru and the foxbat were growing closer by the day, the best of friends. Sesshoumaru had appointed him as her personal guard, seeing that no one would be more protective of her, save himself and Inuyasha of course. His decision had honored the boy and pleased Ayeka vastly. In fact, she'd been only too happy to show him just how happy she was. His lips curved ever so slightly at the memory of it.
"What are you grinnin about?" Inuyasha asked, his brow arched in question. Sesshoumaru blinked, recovering swiftly, "Nothing to share with you" he replied coolly. Damn that woman for sabotaging him in something as simple as an evening visit...in his own halls no less! Said woman wandered by, oblivious to the way golden eyes lingered on the gentle sway of her hips. She looked lovely in her advisor's robes, but then, she looked good in everything. And he looked good in her.
The ice prince of the west, tapped his claws against his chair lightly, trying to rein in the impulses that Ayeka still brought to life within him. A wry chuckle drew his attention and he cut his eyes to the side to glower at his sibling. "Something amuse you then?".
Inuyasha wrapped his arm around Kagome's waist and led her away, "Why don't you just go and take care of it. I...am going to go make an itch that needs scratching" he replied. He and Kagome vanished down the hall in a flurry of bright silks and muttered threats and comments about crude and crass behaviour. Why did she bother? When they reached their chambers she'd be dancing to the beat of a very different tune. If they made it as far as their chambers, Sesshoumaru mused ruefully.
"Come on Sessh" Ayeka whispered from just behind him, her slender arms coming around his shoulders, "I'm tired, lets go to bed". Golden eyes peered up at her with a hint of sparkle, "Tired?" he asked with a grin, watching her cheeks flush, "I'm not tired and you won't know what tired means until I have finished with you dear wife".
Rising, they walked hand in hand down the long corridor leading to their haven. His mind on many things indeed.
Kurama and Taisha sent word regularly. He had chosen a most fitting gift for his beautiful mate. He had given her the world. A grand tour of it. She was determined to see all there was to see and he was only too happy to oblige her. They had no immediate plans for children, basking in the love that had very nearly been denied them. Sesshoumaru would never admit it, but he was pleased. She was happy, his wife was happy and after all, wasn't that what defined the greatness of a man? The joys in his life? He had suddenly come to believe that was only too true.
