Dogs

Sesshoumaru had tried to understand the movie. It was very loud and the only thing he really liked was the violent scenes. He loved watching the robots beat the hell out of the humans and each other. He actually started laughing and asked Inuyasha if this was a comedy.

Inuyasha forced Sesshoumaru to try goobers which was a very bad idea. He was sick in the bathroom after the show for a good hour. Apparently full demon dogs were not that different from the canine pets humans had now. Chocolate was not a good thing. Inuyasha had wondered why his stomach had hurt even though he was addicted to these things like ramen.

The popcorn though was accepted and a soda. Sesshoumaru didn’t like the bubbles going up his nose when he used the straw sucking in too much too fast. Inuyasha thought Sesshoumaru’s eyes were going to pop out of his head. Inuyasha tried hard to stop laughing long enough to get his brother a few napkins to clean himself off.

“Inuyasha are there more comedies like this one? What is the next movie playing?”

Inuyasha was actually happy to just hang out with his brother today. They were actually having a lot of fun and hearing Sesshoumaru laugh was funny as hell. It was even funnier watching the humans around them look at him funny as he talked in Japanese on occasion pointing out how great the big robots were and how stupid the humans looked.

“Ummmmmm, let’s see. Band of Brothers, no that is all about a human war. That would bore you.”

Sesshoumaru looked at his brother.

“Do they die in it?”

Inuyasha nodded.

“But it isn’t as funny.”

Inuyasha had to keep an eye on his brother. If he found out about World War 11 and the nuke that killed all of his demon followers he wouldn’t like America very much. There was no point in ruining the experience for him.

“What about this one? Hostel.”

Inuyasha wrinkled his nose.

“That one is just gross. It is like demons tormenting humans in the past except more sadistic and they are just humans doing it.”

Looking up at the marquee they saw several movies to choose from and then looked at their watches.

“If I go to another movie I can’t go to the library again tonight right?”

Sesshoumaru stated pouting a bit since it was getting late in the day.

“Come on Sess, I will take you there tomorrow. Promise, in fact I will buy you a computer after we get home. Let’s just go walk around and rent a movie. Resident Evil will really crack you up.”

Inuyasha suggested since nothing really seemed quite right for them and there was no point in ruining a good moment.

Sesshoumaru tried a few different human things he was a bit nervous about. He loved hot dogs with mustard and ketchup. Hamburgers as long as there were no foliage as he put it on them. He even tried cotton candy along the boardwalk and rode on a rollercoaster saying it wasn’t even fast enough to effect him. Inuyasha smiled softly knowing that would be a given. Sesshoumaru’s idea of a great thrill was doing what he was built to do and that was killing something.

“Sesshoumaru, let’s do something really dangerous. Let’s ask one of those humans over there where the worst part of town is saying we want to avoid it. Just for fun we can clean out a whole block of thugs in one night. Come on, killing things always tends to cheer you up.”

Inuyasha stated with a smile. Sesshoumaru felt like a little kid with his brother. Inuyasha had not ever acted this way before with him. It was like they were hooligans in a strange place. It was amusing.

“Alright Inuyasha, but we must run there. I want you to keep up with me. This time I will stay at a pace we both can run together. We will own this place if only for tonight.”

Sesshoumaru stated laughing and smiling. He did indeed feel like a child. Was this what it was like to be Inuyasha on a daily basis? Was this like being a child? He couldn’t remember the last time he played or if he ever did. He was raised as a Lord and was to be a King of Demons. Was this what freedom was like? The short time with Rin was like this, but this time with Inuyasha was how it should have been. It was like they were finally free of the past hates.

Stopping Inuyasha placing a hand on his shoulder, Sesshoumaru in another odd moment hugged Inuyasha tightly.

“Thank you little brother. This has been a very good day.”

Letting go Inuyasha looked at Sesshoumaru.

“You aren’t dying on me are you?”

Sesshoumaru laughed.

“No, I never showed you affection little brother. I didn’t know how and I didn’t know you. You are fun to be around and you make me laugh.”

Inuyasha smiled big. He was afraid though. Sesshoumaru was still so damn innocent. Was it really right to let him see such an ugly world that could hurt him? Right now Sesshoumaru was so precious as an innocent treasure being shown a world he had not known. His bubble needed to be burst a bit before it exploded in their faces.

“Sess, don’t be too excited about this place ok? This is not the whole United States and not everything here is good. I am glad though you are having fun.”

Sesshoumaru rolled his eyes and ruffled his brother’s hair.

“Don’t worry about me so much Inuyasha, I am stronger then you think and definitely stronger then you are. You should worry more about yourself.”

Inuyasha looked at Sesshoumaru funny at that comment. Inuyasha though went over to ask the humans who told him about an area no one went into because there were robbers, gangs, and other thugs. Inuyasha was thrilled. This was just what the doctor ordered for the Demon Lord.

“I found out this area they call a ghetto around here is a good place to find what you are looking for. Apparently though there is a place in this ghetto area that not even the impoverished people dare tread so I think we should start there.”

Sesshoumaru smelled the air. It was hard to tell direction with the smells of the humans.

“Do you have the directions; everything smells the same around here. Too many human smells and odd smells I have yet to discover. I don’t like all of them.”

Inuyasha smiled. Here let me show you something that will make you look cool, just don’t inhale it.

“What is this? Do you eat it?”

Sesshoumaru went to bite into the cigarette and luckily Inuyasha stopped him.

“You don’t eat it you smoke it.”

Sesshoumaru handed it back to Inuyasha.

“I do not smoke anything. Father tried that and it was distasteful to him as it is to me. No thank you.”

Inuyasha went to light it up and Sesshoumaru ripped it from his mouth.

“Did you not listen to me?”

Sesshoumaru roared.

“You said you didn’t like it, I have to deal with the human wench remember?”

Inuyasha whined.

“This is bad for you. No, it smells bad and I have to sleep in the same room as you. You will cease this habit.”

Sesshoumaru stated taking the pack from Inuyasha and melting it completely with his claws.

“You really cannot be left to your own devices Inuyasha. I will have to watch you and keep you from trouble.”

Inuyasha rolled his eyes and followed his brother.

“What do you mean keep me from trouble? Are we not going to go out and commit murder?”

Sesshoumaru smiled.

“No we are ridding our world of some undesirables that is all. It will be rather boring and fruitless unless you are willing to play my way.”

Inuyasha looked at his brother a little worried.

“You don’t mean torment do you?”

Sesshoumaru smiled again with his eyes glowing slightly red.

“A little fear is always a good thing in your prey and of course we are going to play with them a bit. What is the point of a quick kill with a weak being? It would ruin all of my fun.”

Inuyasha shuddered a bit. He hadn’t seen this side of Sesshoumaru except when they fought and that was different. This was a low demonic voice coming from his brother. It was the cold voice of the hunter who didn’t care about emotions or pain in its prey.

“Inuyasha you always forget what I am. Did you think I perhaps hid myself for a reason? I could have gone on one of my killing rampages. You have not ever seen one. Tonight you shall.”

Sesshoumaru stated smiling laughing this low sadistic almost frightening laugh.

“Sesshoumaru you are scaring me.”

Inuyasha whimpered.

“Why, because you always seem to assume I am some innocent who knows nothing? I am far from being innocent. Let me show you the beauty of your demonic side.”

Sesshoumaru stated grasping his brother by the neck then flying over the city to where he saw a group of young men in a knife fight. They were pulling weapons of all kinds with different colors on as though to symbolize what group they belonged to.

“This will be our hunting ground tonight. Now hear the song of the night Inuyasha and pay attention.”

Inuyasha stood by a tree as his brother silently moved behind an unsuspecting young gangster who backed right into him. Sesshoumaru disappeared once again behind the boy as the boy whipped around trying to figure out what he bumped into. When he turned Sesshoumaru smiled with his fangs showing as his eyes glowed a demonic blood red.

“What are you some kind of freak?”

Sesshoumaru smiled as the boy lunged at him with his tiny knife.

“Don’t you wish?”

He whispered sadistically in the boy’s ear as the boy turned to hit nothing again as Sesshoumaru practically danced like a ghost around him.

“Where the fuck are you? What are you!”

The boy practically screamed in fear as Sesshoumaru pushed him to the ground. Something in Inuyasha wanted to make his brother stop, but something else made him lick his lips in blood lust. Sesshoumaru was calling out his demon.

“I am your death.”

Sesshoumaru stated lifting the boy by his arm as the boy struggled. Then he broke the wrist that had the knife as though it were nothing other than a small fly he was holding up.

Inuyasha went to stop Sesshoumaru but the boy’s arm was already melted off.

“Sesshoumaru what the fuck are you doing?”

Sesshoumaru dropped the screaming boy.

“Do you want to have the police come here?”

Inuyasha looked at the demon’s red eyes.

“So fragile aren’t they. It doesn’t take much to take a life. You don’t understand. There is no police coming here Inuyasha. No one comes here except the damned.”

Sesshoumaru lifted the boy and sunk his razor sharp fangs into his throat and ripped his head off.

“He is now silenced. He is dead Inuyasha. We are here to hunt not to feel sorrow for them. They are creatures who would do this to others. Do you not see it? Look at them. Watch how they want to kill each other and beat on each other. Watch the group then you will join me. Then you may understand me. This was nothing. You have not seen all of what I can do.”

Inuyasha looked at the mess. The body was still bubbling with acid.

“Aren’t you at least going to clean up this mess?”

Sesshoumaru smiled at Inuyasha.

“No. It is not our place. They made the mess to begin with.”

Inuyasha then saw something in Sesshoumaru’s eyes.

“You really hate these people don’t you?”

Sesshoumaru answered softly.

“These ones? Yes I really hate them.”

Inuyasha saw the serious look and deadly dangerous look in Sesshoumaru’s eyes.

“You are going to kill them all aren’t you?”

Sesshoumaru smiled.

“Yes and you will do so with me. It is time to let your demon be as it should be brother. These are bandits, like the ones who killed Rin’s family. They are evil and would kill parents. They would kill children. Do you want that? I do not. Yes I hate them and I will destroy them. That is what I am.”

Inuyasha looked at the young boys who now started looking like the thieves and bandits of their past. He remembered the past and he remembered when his own claws had raked through ones who begged.

“Do you still live in the past Inuyasha? Those thieves who you killed that begged for their lives would not do the same for those they slaughtered. They don’t care about their lives or anyone else’s. Why do you think humans live in fear? We are not the monsters Inuyasha, they are. Watch and learn.”

Inuyasha watched as the boys shot at each other with guns and started stabbing each other with knives.

“This is only the first wave Inuyasha. This is nothing. There are more coming, do you hear them? What is more merciful to you? Letting them harm others and breed more? Would it not suit our purpose or should I say your humanitarian cause to destroy them now? Either way Inuyasha, tonight they die. This is my territory as my demon claims it for this hunt.'
"Come with me and feast on blood. Sing to the night Inuyasha for once let your demon have its way and feel no regrets. There is not one here who is innocent. They have all harmed someone they did not care about.”

Sesshoumaru saw the blood lust in Inuyasha.

“Sess I haven’t done this before consciously. I don’t know if I can.”

Inuyasha stated softly.

“Inuyasha close your eyes. Feel your demon blood. Find it and you will be fine. You are half demon and you are fully my brother. Decide what you want and don’t let anyone dissuade you. Your life will be longer and you will be with me for many years. You need to be yourself and not worry about what anyone else thinks not even me.”

Sesshoumaru stood waiting for Inuyasha to call his powers.

“I don’t know if I can control myself Sess!”

Inuyasha stated as his claws started growing.

“I am here Inuyasha; I won’t let you lose yourself. You can control this. Hanyous have done so for years. It is time to be free again little brother. Hunt with me. Let out the animal demon and let it howl.”

Sesshoumaru slowly complimented Inuyasha’s youkai powers and Inuyasha felt suddenly safe. His face had changed and Sesshoumaru was pleased that without the tessaiga Inuyasha was still doing well with his powers as he flexed his claws.

“Sess, I feel funny. How come I am coherent and more demon now than before?”

Inuyasha stated looking up at his brother whose eyes glowed red as the stripes on his cheeks became more jagged.

“Inuyasha you are always our Father’s son. Do not forget that.”

Sesshoumaru stepped forward to start the hunt.

“Remember to play with them a bit before you kill them or this will be over much too quickly.”

Inuyasha nodded. For some reason this felt natural. It felt like he belonged here with the Alpha. They were a pack even if there was only the two of them.

“So be it.”

Sesshoumaru lunged forward with Inuyasha behind him. There were screams that echoed in the night and weapons being fired. The bullets didn’t phase the two demons or the knives. Young people and some older fell like flies. There would be a big mess to clean up if it were not for the dog demon being able to dig a big mass grave to bury them in. The ground bubbled a bit, but soon there would be nothing left to show of the nights activities as two dog demons howled to the moon their death song.

Inuyasha rolled in the grass and lay in it looking up at the stars with his brother on the ground that the slaughter had commenced on. It was like they had marked their territories and just for fun they did. Right on the tree that was right across from them.

“So was that enjoyable for you little brother?”

Sesshoumaru asked.

“Why ask now? Sure it was, but it is over now. You are right these things just aren’t the same anymore. At least in the Feudal Era I had a few worthwhile lower demons that gave me some fight. These humans are a waste of time unless you really can get them to fight back. They were screaming more in fear then fighting the wimps.”

Inuyasha stated laughing a bit at his own sadistic nature. If Kagome found out about this he was really going to get it.

“Don’t worry about it Inuyasha. Kagome doesn’t need to know. This is our nights. If you want more I shall show you more. It isn’t just the kill little brother although it is entertaining, it is the freedom of being the demon you are. Someday Inuyasha after your child is born you will realize this. Your child will not outlive you.”

Sesshoumaru stated softly.

“Is that what bothers you the most Sess? I see my time with Kagome like you did with Rin. It is precious while it lasts so I will enjoy it. Even if I am married to a human witch, I love her. My child will be what he will be. I will accept him won’t you?”

Inuyasha stated then looked at his brother who was staring at the sky.

“Yes. I am his Uncle. It is what family does even if we do not choose our siblings or other family members. It is what we do as a pack Inuyasha.”

Sesshoumaru watched as Inuyasha smiled lying next to him as they looked at the stars.

“You know Sess that we can’t stay here all night. I mean they will think that we are nuts if they ever come here now that it is safe, these humans.”

Inuyasha stated watching Sesshoumaru close his eyes.

“Inuyasha don’t you miss nights like this? No one will come here and bother us. If they do they die. It is that simple brother. You complicate things too much. We used to sleep under the stars in our time every night.”

Sesshoumaru stated as he lay next to his brother.

“You are not going to flirt with me again are you Sess? I mean sleeping with you isn’t my plan and it wasn’t before either.”

Inuyasha stated firmly.

“Inuyasha get your head out of the gutter. As if I would fornicate with you. One of these days you will get into a lot of trouble with that mouth of yours. We are simply sleeping under the stars on the same patch of grass.”

Sesshoumaru stated and rolled over allowing his tail to rip through his pants. Then he pulled it around his body and under his head.

“You at least have a damn blanket attached to you jerk. What about me?”

Inuyasha stated trying to get comfortable on the grass.

“Inuyasha I am your brother, but not your keeper. If you do not wish to share my tail for your comfort that is your problem. Dog demons have done this for years. If you wish to be offensive about this situation then freeze for all I care.”

Sesshoumaru stated annoyed his brother still did not understand his demon nature. It was his turn to train his brother in the arts of the demon and Inuyasha was failing miserably.

“So you won’t bite my head off then. I was more concerned about that then you touching me since you are always so untouchable. Do not touch my person or you will die. I think that is your favorite line.”

Inuyasha grumbled cuddling in the soft fur.

“I won’t bite your head off although I have chewed you a bit. You are indeed not very tasty. I would have to spit you out at some point.”

Sesshoumaru stated with a grin.

“Ha ha ha. Very funny………..not. So how come you got a tail and all I got were these ears? I mean women love these things, but this is so soft.”

Inuyasha cuddled in the fur. It was so different than anything he had imagined. The only time he got to touch this was when Sesshoumaru flung him with it and that was only one time.

“I have two of them. When I am a full adult diayouki my other one will grow. You do not have one because for one you still are a whelp and a runt at that. You are a puppy even if you don’t want to see things that way Inuyasha. You won’t have a tail because you are a half demon. You have those ridiculous ears instead. They suit you much better than having a tail anyway. Tails can be a bother.”

Sesshoumaru stated softly as he was trying to sleep and Inuyasha was being a big mouth as always.

“Why would you say this soft wonderful thing is a bother?”

Sesshoumaru rolled over looking his brother in the face.

“How would you like to try to figure out how to hide this massive thing on your person? I had to tuck it into my armor, it dragged on the ground if I don’t do it right and my pants are ruined. That is what is wrong with it. Then I have a second one coming in I have to put up with.”

Inuyasha didn’t know whether to be jealous or laugh at Sesshoumaru’s predicament. Hell it was a blanket, a pillow, and it was so damn soft. Who cared if it fell on the ground sometimes. It smelled good like a dog should. It almost felt like home.

“I like it. You are lucky Sess. Goodnight.”

Sesshoumaru rolled his eyes then fell asleep. Sometimes his little brother was so weird. Then again, with those dog ears of course he always was a bit weird so he should be used to this nonsense by now.

“Goodnight pup. Go to sleep and shut up. No more questions tonight.”

Inuyasha had a billion of them, but cuddling in the fur he didn’t want Sesshoumaru to take this new thing away from him so he would shut up. It was perfect like his brother. It should have pissed him off, but it was a treat since Sesshoumaru rarely opened up like this. Inuyasha prayed that it wouldn’t change too soon or he would be the one heartbroken since this was indeed the last of his family. Even his precious son would not live as long as they would and to know that hurt.

It took a lot to not ask Sesshoumaru more about how to prevent his son dying before him, but the fact was Sesshoumaru was right. At some point he had to accept the things the way they were and quit living in the past. The jewel wouldn’t change anything for them, it was gone as well as all of his wishes to be like Sesshoumaru. He should just be happy to be with him while he could as his little brother accepted for the first time in years. With that he fell asleep smiling.
