How Interesting...

Disclaimer: Nope, still not mine.

Thanks to razza, bluemoon_175 and Megan Cosoer for reviewing. I appreciated that.

Chapter 11: How interesting…

The next night

Everyone was sitting around the campfire. Last night, the jewel became whole and now they were discussing plans for the future.

Sango and Miroku were planning on settling near where Sesshomaru and Koga were with Kagome. Hakitaki desired to stay near the group, as did the rest of the group. Shippo and Rin, of course, wished to remain with their parents.

The problem lied with Koga and Sesshomaru. Koga was the Wolf Prince of the East while Sesshomaru was Lord of the West.

Two different sides of Japan.

“Well, she could come and stay with me for a while and then go to you,” Koga was trying with his entire mind to get the situation resolved. He wanted to suggest that they build a new place near some caves, for his tribe, that was situated near one border or the other. There was no way to avoid patrolling their lands, but they could plan that so Kagome wasn’t left alone.

“This Sesshomaru does not think that that would be a wise division. Kagome would need to be settled, especially if she has any pups. Moving from one place to the next continuously would not be a wise solution to our dilemma. I need to patrol my lands soon. How about you two accompany me while we think about this?”

“I do have another suggestion, but it would take time to accomplish. We could pick out an area that is close to our border to build a fortress, castle, whatever we think we will need, that is near some caves. We would all move in. Kagome and the pups would stay there and we can coordinate our patrols so that they are never alone. Not to mention that the Miroku and Sango and the rest of this pack would be welcome to settle with us. I know it is time consuming and we would have to think of something short-term, but it may be best in the long term. We can patrol your lands together, but then I must see to my tribe. Miroku needs to get his wife settled long before this would be finished, probably.”

Sesshomaru thought about this. Could his ancestral home be maintained without him living there? The compromise the wolf had posed would be ideal and they all would be there. He liked having the wolf around with their Kagome. He could be rid of the annoying retainer if he allowed him to keep watch over his castle and only see him when reports were due.

“That would be a wise course of action. We would need to see my castle every so often to check on it and stay there. It is my ancestral home. We could have the place started on as soon as we choose the location. We will be nearing our borders by tomorrow afternoon. We will patrol and then go to your tribe. We may be able to arrange the labor on the castle and other homes to be started to certain specification in our absence. Miroku should be able to oversee it.”

The decision had been made, now they just have to get their mate’s approval on the subject. Kagome was a sucker for compromises, though, so they did not foresee any problems with her agreement.

While Kagome’s two mates were talking, she and Sango decided that they wanted a bath. They informed Miroku, Ginta and Hakkaku, asking to be sure that Sesshomaru and Koga were told of their whereabouts.

“That was still so strange last night. What was that? That cat demon didn’t purify; he dissolved/exploded, I’m not sure how to describe it.”

Sango was just as puzzled. She started to brush Kagome’s hair. They had taken to doing that sometime back.

“Your hair has gotten a lot longer over the past bit. Do you want it to be trimmed? I was thinking about letting you trim off a few inches of mine.”

Kagome turned and looked at Sango with a puzzled look. That was an odd change of topic. She knew her hair had gotten a lot longer, but that was due to lack of haircuts and all.

“I’ll trim your hair real quick. I think I’ll just leave mine for now. They’re trying to keep all of us together or at least close by. Hm, how long has my hair gotten?” She moved around and saw that it had gained quite a bit of length, about five to six inches to be sure.

“You have a some streaks that are starting to show up. You have these right here that seem to be darkening up and these over here that are lightening up. If I didn’t know better I’d say that the darker ones were turning a very dark blue and that the lighter streaks are turning into silver almost. Not gray or white but an actual silver.”

“I think that you are falling off your rocker, Sango.”

“Ha. Ha.”

Kagome trimmed Sango’s hair and they washed up and cleaned up their mess.

Kagome’s reflection caught her attention. She began to look for the streaks that Sango had mentioned but noticed her eyes seemed to be a bit bluer with some silver sparks bursting within them. The color mixture was subtle right now but seemed to be getting clearer. What in the hell was going on? She had a couple of demons to begin questioning and soon.

Back at Camp

Everyone was relaxing and settling in for the night. They decided to keep the watches for the night in preparation for other demons or even humans trying to gain the jewel for themselves. (Same order as the night before.) Morning came without a single problem.

Camp was cleaned up and the pack was on the rode. It was second nature by now.

Kagome was followed by two sets of demon eyes as she walked alongside Sango, chatting away about getting ready for the baby. Their conversation was light, happy and animated. That was until Kagome felt the eyes that were on her and turned around.

She met the gazes of both Sesshomaru and Koga.

Their looks held a bit of something in them.

They seemed… puzzled/curious/happy/surprised. She wasn’t all that certain how to describe it. She opted to give them a look that said ‘okay, whatever’ and turn her attention back to Sango and their discussion for actually decorating a bedroom for the baby. They were thinking along the lines of a tribute to their adventures looking for the shards and defeating Naraku, after all if it hadn’t been for the quest, the momma and daddy would never had met.

Sango had never heard of actually decorating a room for the baby. She found that she really liked the idea; it kept her excited while she awaited its arrival.

Kagome was swept up in the planning and excitement of getting ready that she soon forgot the weird looks that she had been receiving.

That was until Shippo decided to ask her about it.

“Momma, why has your hair and eyes been changing? You also caught us teasing Jaken that far away?” He asked while gesturing toward An-Un, who they had been riding.

Kagome looked down at her kit, unsure of what to say at first. “It may be because I’m on this side of the well and unable to return to the other side. Besides, you know better than to behave like that.”

Shippo lowered his head at the reminder of the admonition that he had received and decided that he would just leave the changes alone. He wasn’t sure exactly what was happening, but he knew his adopted mother was changing.

He glanced back at his momma’s mates only to meet their gazes. Koga sent him a smile and gestured him back towards him. He leaned down and picked him up.

“Don’t worry about it. We will know for sure what is happening over the next couple of days. I know you noticed her scent first changing right after we all mated, but there is more than that going on. You know that we would never let anything bad happen to her.”

Shippo felt reassured and decided that he would trail along with his ‘daddies’. They had, after all, mated his adopted momma so they could now both could be called his daddy. Same as Rin. Kagome was now her momma and Koga was another daddy for her. They were brother and sister.

Sesshomaru remained quiet, seemingly trying to listen to something. Both he and Koga seemed to be hearing something only they could.

The group continued on and the human counterparts and children ate lunch while walking. Sesshomaru noticed that they were just inside his territory when he saw a large clearing surrounded by trees on two sides, a nice lake and river on the other with some mountains and caves on the remaining side. They smiled when Kagome made a comment to Sango about how beautiful the area was.

“Sesshomaru, I think we should stop here and get our plans together. We will never find another perfect place like this. She obviously likes it. There are caves just over there. Fresh water, trees and everything that we could possibly need are available.”

The dog merely nodded his agreement. Their new home would be on its way soon.

Kagome cocked her head at them. She somehow knew that they were planning on settling here.

“Hey, Sango. Would that be a beautiful place for a home right over there?”

“Oh yeah. This place is lovely. Where do you think that we are heading?”

“I think that they may have just found what they are looking for.”

Sango just looked at Kagome. She noticed her husband talking with the other men in their pack. They all seemed to be nodding. Miroku was agreeing to something.

The two girls approached the rest of their packs.

“Hey, what is going on?”

“Hey, Kagome. Koga and Lord Sesshomaru are thinking about letting us get this place ready for all of us to settle here. Miroku is in charge of getting the castle and all built. They are getting their plans straight for all that will be going on and who is in charge of what,” Hakkaku was the one that answered her question.

“Oh, okay.” She was joined by Sesshomaru before she had finished turning.

“We will be patrolling my lands before getting the wolf’s tribe moved over here. We decided that it would be best for all if we moved to where we were both close to our lands’ border. We just needed to find a location. Now all we need to figure out is what to do while everything is being built. You will remain with us. Rin and Shippo will be flown back to my castle. The rest of the pack will remain here while Koga, you and myself are checking both of our lands.”

Kagome could only nod. The light caught the new colors in her hair, which caught Sesshomaru’s attention. He couldn’t but help to notice the silvery additions to her hair. The darker blue was very subtle and would probably remain that way. He looked deep into her eyes noticing how they had changed colors somewhat. There were still traces of her original blue color with a darker shade of blue added and some silver flecks that reminded him of stars. The idea was riveting to him-she had stars in her eyes…

I hope you all are enjoying my story. Let me know how I am doing. The reviews help contribute to the story and let me know I am doing a good job. I am always open to comments, suggestions, and all…

Take care all and have a great (and I do mean a GREAT) holiday season.
