On the Road to Destruction

It was then that Inu Yasha and Shippo stepped out onto the street that a mob of panic striken villagers
ran by. Inu Yasha quickly lifted Shippon onto his shoulder as to not be trampled by the terrified mob
screaming that an army of Wolf Demons was on the march. Sensing this was Kagome's doing Inu Yasha
quickly sped off down the street. Kagome had heard the mob too and nothing but a small grin came on
her face. But then she was disappointed where was Sesshomaru? If he didn't participate then she'd have
to try harder to kill Naraku, and she didn't want to have to do that. She just had her nails done. But she
couldn't do anything with Sango around, so she just had to put her trust in what Sesshomaru would do.

Mean while at Sesshomaru's castle he was soon preparing to go and rescue his own mate also.
Sesshomaru had no time to listen to Jaken's protests nor to his claims of another presence in the castle
the night Lord Sesshomaru took his mate. All that was important was that Rin his beloved mate was
gone, taken by the foul spawn of Naraku. Why Naraku would do such a thing, he had no answer. But he
didn't need one as long as Rin was missing he would not rest until she was back safely in his arms. Of
course by now though news of the advancing army of Wolf Demons had already been heard many times.
He knew this was no coincidence, but he also knew he had to save Rin. Just what Kagome had thought
he'd do...

Back at the village Kagome was just finishing up her orders for furniture and other accessories. She
thought to herself, today's the day. After kindly being told her orders would take a day or two she and
Sango walked down the street being pushed and shoved every which way by the fleeing villagers. They
spotted Miroku being surrounded by a group of women who we clearly scared as he reassured them
that'd he'd protect them.

"He's the one they need protection from," Sango said as she glared.

Kagome only smiled and nodded. As Sango took to dragging off Miroku, Inu Yasha and Shippo came
down the same street mindful of the panicking villagers.

"An army of Wolf Demons is on the move," Inu Yasha said plainly. "I think its Kouga."

'Any other brilliant observations Einstein?' Kagome thought.

"Why do you say that Inu Yasha?" Miroku asked.

"The villagers are yelling about a wolf lord as fast as the wind coming to rescue his mate."

"I see."

'Oh I get what he's doing, he making sure no one thinks we had anything to do with it.' Kagome thought
once again, but this time another thought entered her mind. 'This dog isn't as dumb as he looks huh
mate?' Kagome looked at Inu Yasha in total awe. 'It's a shared gift.'

The scent of wolf demons was getting stronger as they'd have to pass through this village on their way to
Naraku's castle. At first only a low rumble could be heard, but it soon picked up into waves of sound as
truly an army of wolf demons came into view. Inu Yasha, Kagome, Miroku, and Sango just waited for
them in the village square. It wasn't easy but both Inu Yasha and Kagome had told Shippo to return to
Kaede's and tell her about what was going on.

As the wolf demon army approached the village square they slowed down and came to a halt. From the
front of the ranks Kouga stepped forward.

"What are you all doing here?" The venom in his voice was clear, the fact he had his first choice taken
away by Inu Yasha and now his mate taken by Naraku was having its toll on him.

"None of your damn business wolf," Inu Yasha yelled.

"I don't think that's a very wise idea Inu Yasha," Kagome whispered to him.

"I'll make it my damn business mutt," Kouga quickly barked out orders and pointed to Inu Yasha.

'Don't kill them Inu Yasha, we need them to weaken Naraku.' Kagome told him.

A small band of wolf demons seperated themselves from the rest of the army. "They Inu Yasha are some
of the best fighers of both wolf tribes, and you are in trouble." The band then charged at Inu Yasha at
breakneck speed. There was little Inu Yasha could do than to dodge attack after attack. They fought in a
coordinated way that left no room for a counter-
attack. This could have gone on for an eternity had Kouga
not decided to intervene and trip up Inu Yasha. Inu Yasha came down hard blows following him the
whole way and even as he was down the wolf demons continued to kick him.

Kagome screamed out for Kouga to stop this. Kouga calmly walked up to her and laid a slap deep across
her face sending her down.

"Stupid whore, learn your place. Remember you chose Inu Yasha instead of me so you have no hold over
me anymore."

That was enough for Inu Yasha who'd just been holding back for Kagome's sake. He grabbed the nearest
wolf demon by the ankle and threw him into another. He then got up and fought to defend himself. Kouga
realizing the error he'd just made called them off and ordered them to march on again towards Naraku's
castle.

"We'll finish this later mutt."

"I doubt it," Inu Yasha spit out.

He then quickly rushed up to see if Kagome was alright. She was fine except for a wounded pride. She
wanted to tend to Inu Yasha's wounds but they both knew that there was more that needed to be done
than to take care of his cuts and bruises. Nodding her off Kagome took to the sky to search out
Sesshomaru's progress.

Sesshomaru was dashing through the forest trying to get to Naraku's castle as quickly as possible. He
knew that if the, by the slightest chance the wolf demons were to defeat Naraku, there wouldn't be much
of Rin left. Had his mind not been else where he would have noticed the shadow trailing behind him and
the succubus high in the air. Kagome smiled, things were going according to plan.

Sango sent Miroku to fetch some clean water from the nearby creek as she tended to Inu Yasha's
wounds. Removing his haori she proceeded to clean every cut. When all was said and done, she quietly
admired Inu Yasha. Inu Yasha could smell her growing arousal and it began to disturb him. Sango then
rested her head against Inu Yasha's back and wrapped her arms around his waist.

"Sango what are you doing?"

"Nothing Inu Yasha."

"Sango, I have a mate and she's Kagome. Besides, I thought you like Miroku."

"No Inu Yasha, you can't take him quite so seriously. Unlike you." A blush creeped onto Sango's face.

"Sango, you're going to have to let go. We can't and you know it."

"Maybe Inu Yasha."
