Chapter 11 muhahaha

Sesshomaru was awoken from his peaceful meditation by his brother’s aura coming fast to his location. Gracefully he rose to his feet and strode to the front of the well. Inuyasha came barreling through the trees with red tinting his eyes.

“Where is she you bastard?” Inuyasha yelled drawing the Tetsusaiga, pulling himself into an attack stance. “She is with her family like she asked” Sesshomaru said preparing himself for his brother’s attack. “I heard you tell her till the moons peak it’s definitely passed, where is she?” he growled. “I gave the miko Kagome more time, seeing as I now know where it is she comes from. It is only reasonable and honorable to allow her what she needs” Sesshomaru said calmly, feeling her presence once again enter the world.

“she is mine” were Inuyasha’s last words as he lunged forward clashing metal with metal as Tokijin came up to block the attack.

Kagome had heard what Inuyasha had said, her anger towards him knew no bounds. She was not his he made that perfectly clear when he mated Kikyou. Quickly she sprang form the bottom of the well and stood on the lip looking at the two demons before her. Sesshomaru one she never thought she could trust and Inuyasha the one that broke her heart. One was not going to be too happy with the words she was about to say.

“Inuyasha Sit boy!” Kagome yelled as loud as she could. The inu-hanyou’s eyes went wide as he smashed into the ground below and his sword landed on top his head with a loud ‘thump’. Sesshomaru took Kagome’s hand and brought her over to Inuyasha’s crumpled form. Kagome looked at him in anger.

“Inuyasha, how dare you lay claim over me when you have no right” Kagome bit out barely unable to contain the rage she felt. She waited for the spell to wear off so he could retaliate.

He sprang from the ground and looked at the both of them. “Kagome how could you do this to me? I thought you loved me, instead you turn to my bastard half brother” Inuyasha yelled out in desperation. “How could I do this you ask? Well let’s start at the beginning shall we… from the moment that Kikyou was recreated from my soul you have been after her, every night when she called to you, you answered. Every time she comes to claim what is rightfully mine you defend her actions. Numerous times she has tried to kill me and yet you still turn to her for comfort. And yet she is no more then a clay doll that walks around on borrowed time, a time that will soon be ending. After all this you ask how I could betray you when I have been the one betrayed, Inuyasha you are such an idiot sometimes” kagome finished silent tears running down her cheeks. All Inuyasha could do to reply was turning his eyes to the ground and press his ears to the top of his head.

“I have always been by your side; I gave you all of my heart Inuyasha. And foolishly every time you broke it I forgave you because I felt you had some hope left. But the other night changed all that when I found out the reason for the sweet words you spoke to me. If all I am to you is a way for you to become something you are not worthy to be then you hold no claim over me Inuyasha. You deserve the end you have, you are not worthy to be man or demon you are only a hanyou and forever shall be one as long as I live” kagome looked at the ground in defeat with Sesshomaru’s arm around her. “At least I know that your brother will never hurt me like you did he has too much honor” she finished laying her head on his shoulder and buried her face in his chest.

Inuyasha looked up at the girl who he always loved in the arms of another. He now knew the extent of his actions and it hurt really bad. His only option was to escape. Inuyasha sprinted off into the woods to collect his thoughts and let off some steam at loosing the one that was in his heart always.

Sesshomaru looked at the head of his mate to be and inwardly smiled. She had hurt Inuyasha better then he ever could with all but a few words. He shifted her face so he could look into her eyes.

‘Oh great I’ve been crying I probably look horrible’ Kagome thought. Sesshomaru wiped the remaining tears away and looked into the still troubled silver orbs. “you have taken this very well Kagome, it is not often that I will say this but I was very surprised and proud of you when you stood up to him, it takes a strong will to stand up for what you believe” Sesshomaru said caressing the girls face. “Thank you Sesshomaru, for showing me that you do have some emotion under that stoic mask you always wear” Kagome said smiling up at him. All she received as a reply was a smirk and a return to the cold exterior.

The two began to walk to the village when kagome remembered the dagger. She pulled the box from her pocket and stopped their progress.

“my mother gave this to me when I left she said it may be useful to us soon’ Kagome said giving the box to Sesshomaru.

He opened it and stared at the dagger. Taking it out of the box he marveled at the craftsmanship.

“It would seem as though you come from a very prestigious demon line Kagome, this dagger is imbued with great power” Sesshomaru said.

“She told me it was used for mating ceremonies is that correct?” Kagome asked. “Indeed and we shall, and use it with honor, as will our children and other generations to come. This is a very rare find and will be coveted by all. For you see this particular dagger is said to have mated the first demons to exist” Sesshomaru concluded handing the small blade back to a stunned Kagome. She placed it carefully back in the box and secured it in her pocket.

Sesshomaru placed his arm around Kagome’s waist again and led her back to the village. By the time they made it back everyone had fallen asleep. They looked in Kaede’s hut to see where everyone was. Rin and Shippo were curled up with Rose. Jaken was with Auh-uhn outside the door. Miroku and Songo were on opposite sides of the fire inside. Kagome looked up to Sesshomaru and he inclined his head at the silent question. Sesshomaru led Kagome to an unoccupied corner and sat down. Pulling his armor and swords off he motioned for her to join him. Cautiously she sat in his lap and snuggled against his warm body. Sesshomaru gathered her in his arms and leaned back on the wall closing his eyes.

“Good night Sesshomaruuuuu” kagome whispered out falling asleep before the last letter. Sesshomaru looked down at her and kissed her forehead. ‘Good night’ his beast replied. Soon Sesshomaru followed her into the land of dreams and for the first time in a long time he was happy.
