Bitter Betrayal

A/N: In a response to a review about where Kuronue was. From what I've seen from the episodes and manga, (I might be wrong) Kuronue wouldn't have come till after the betrayal between Yomi and Youko. Yomi comments on how him and Kurama became thieves to earn money in order to fulfill their dream of uniting the Makai. In all the scenes with Yomi and Youko, I've never seen Kuronue in them. And when it speaks of Kuronue, it states that he was his partner. So it would seem they were a duo, not part of a large band of thieves. Which meant it would have come after Yomi. The only thing I'm really working to fit in this story is Kags. Not much was said about Yomi except that he was reckless, went against Youko's authority alot because he wanted to be the leader. Which is why Youko set him up. It was never really stated how Yomi survived after being attacked and blinded. (So I worked Kagome in there) All it really showed was him laying there after having his eyes poked out calling for Youko. If I'm wrong I'll blame it on being a blonde! But thanks for reading and reviewing.

Chapter Eleven

"When will Yomi and the others be back?" Kagome walked into the main room seeing Youko staring out the door.

"He won't be coming back. He has shown to be too reckless and has disobeyed my orders too many times. He was warned." His voice was flat and cold.

"What did you do?" Kagome stared at his back. He didn't turn to look at her.

"Fed a false rumor, when he goes an assasin will be waiting for him."

"You would kill your own second in command over something so petty? What happened to friendship? Him and the others are your comrades, you would throw their lives away because you feel like your authority is being challenged?" She screamed at his back, not liking what she saw. He'd never shown her this side of his personality.

"If he doesn't disobey then he will be spared."

"You know he will, thats why you have the assasin waiting on him. You cold heartless bastard." She gasped when he turned on her, his eyes cold and detached.

"I don't like your tone, or you questioning my decisions. If you don't like how things are I suggest you leave." He closed the distance between them grabbing her arm, bruising the skin.

"Let go you are hurting me." She fell to the ground when he threw her out. Tears sprung in her eyes as he walked into the room. He returned with her bag, tossing it to her.

"Leave and never return, now before you meet the same fate as him."

Tears fell down her cheeks as she got up, "My bow then I will leave." She watched him walk back inside this time with her bow in his hand he stared at her. A loud snapping sound was heard as he broke it in two. It landed at her feet, she looked at the broken wood. Not being able to look him in the eye she turned and ran.

What could she do? He didn't want her there anymore, so what now? All because he had felt threatened by Yomi. Yomi, the man entered her thoughts. It wasn't right, how could he set his own friend up? She scanned the area looking for the faint traces of the other man. She could barely pick up his aura, it was dimming. There was nothing she could do for him. Was there?

Her search took her a good distance away, she was tired and hungry. When she arrived she hid her aura in case danger was near. She couldn't pick up any danger around. The only youkai she could feel near was the one man.

She soon found him, barely alive laying on the ground. Her heart ached when she heard the man calling for Youko. His head barely moved when he heard her approaching footsteps, "Yomi?" She could see the blood running down his face.

"What are you doing here woman? Where is Youko?"

She couldn't answer him, he didn't know. "You are hurt, let me help you." He had trouble standing up, he used her for support. They made it a good distance away before she placed him against a tree to sit. "Let me see the damage, so I can see if I can heal you." The lids opened, nothing was left of his eyes. The sockets were bleeding freely, it needed to be stopped. "There's nothing I can do but stop the bleeding and keep you from dying."

He leaned his head back, she placed her hand over the wounded area. She was suprised he wasn't dead from the trauma. "Thats the best I can do." Seeing that he would live she knew it was time for her to leave. "I have to go."

"Where are you going?"

"Home," It was all she could give him. Her hand came up to rest on his cheek, suprising him. "Now, take care of yourself. I don't want to return home and hear about you getting yourself killed." She leaned forward and placed a light kiss on his mouth. "Goodbye." He didn't speak as she got up retrieving her bag once more. It was time to go home, hopefully the well would let her through.

Kagome got to the side of the well and closed her eyes. It had taken three days to get back, three days of hell. Without her bow she'd been helpless to defend herself. Luckily, she'd only gotten attacked once but that had left her wounded. The man had tried to rape her, he'd managed to slice her arms and side. Her clothes had been torn in the process, so after healing herself she'd left them there. She covered her scent and aura after that, not wanting a repeat of the event. She'd been able to purify him by touch somehow.

The darkness greeted her as night surrounded her in the open. Would it work? Had enough time passed? She took a deep breath and jumped. "Yes," The word escaped her when she felt herself fall into the magic. It began red, going backwards from when she'd arrived. Several minutes later she was looking up into the wellhouse, home.
