The Better Man

Chapter Eleven

Kanna's eyes widened when the arrow hit her mirror, the tip piercing the glass. "Kagome, You aren't dead." The souls inside the mirror began to stir but she held onto it.

"Neither are you it would seem, don't worry I'm about to correct that mistake." Kagome took a few steps forward and felt the tug from the mirror.

"Things aren't the same, I will take your soul."

"You remembered what happened last time. Careful, wouldn't want you to choke." Kagome let some of her soul go, the more of it in the faster her arrow would penetrate.

Keiko screamed her name from inside the building, Genkai grabbed the girl from rushing to her friend's aid.

Kanna saw that the miko was still moving, it wasn't effecting her like it should. "I see, your soul is now complete." She took a step back, "And you are the Guardian once more."

"Took you long enough to notice, your mistake though."

The tallest of the men stepped up beside Kanna. "What is going on, take her soul."

"I cannot, her soul is too large to be contained. Her arrow will soon force the others out. Kill her." Kanna looked over at the small fire youkai who was moving his hand towards his weapon. "Kill her now."

Kagome heard the command and smiled, "Your last mistake." The third youkai ran across the clearing sword raised. "Let me show you what I mean." She waited for him to jump bringing the blade down. Her aura flared to it's peak and she flipped her hand up. A blast came forth encasing the man, his scream filled the air. A pile of ash fell to the ground in its wake.

"Impossible." The man stepped back behind the pale woman.

Kanna's eyes widened as the arrow finished penetrating the mirror, it began to crack and the souls released. "I see, we will retreat for now." They disappeared as fast as they had arrived.

Kagome felt her anger begin to calm down, they had missed that bitch somehow. She turned on her heels and scooped the rosary back up. Best to put it back on, no need for every youkai to know her secret. She stepped back in front of the Genkai as she heard the men begin to move around in the yard. "Thanks for letting me use it."

"Yes. Glad to see you knew how to use it."

"What the fuck was that?" Yusuke yelled to no one in particular. "Hey you, you have some explaining to do." He was yelling towards Kagome as he walked over. "There is no way you can be that strong, hell I aint that strong."

"Jealous much?" She smirked at him, he didn't look happy about it.

Kuwabara came up to her all smiles. "Alright, I knew you were weird. So what are you?" His eyebrow lifted in question.

"She's human fool." Hiei and Kurama were coming towards them. Neither of them two looked happy either.

She sighed, she'd just saved them and they were mad at her. Men! "I don't have to explain anything to any of you."

A portal opened up in the yard and everyone turned. Koenma and Botan came out, he walked over to stand in front of the miko. His eyes roamed her body making her blush. "Kagome Higurashi, I am not sure if I should be disappointed or relieved. I guess a little of both would be fitting in this situation."

"Okay." She looked at the man, not sure who the hell he was. "Is that a tatoo or a birthmark?" The question slipped as she pointed to the Jr. on his forehead.

"Does it matter?"

"Nope but it kind of clashes with the binkie." She remarked.

"Yes. Anyways, I'd like to thank you for saving the guys. But you should of left them instead of exposing yourself."

"What the hell did you just say?" Yusuke yelled in his ear.

"Please no need to spit on me. Lucky for you she was willing to take the risks. When did it return?" He directed the question to the girl.

She knew what he was asking, "Right before I came back the last time."

"Are you telling me it's been in your possession since then?"

"Thats what I just said." She yelled at him, why the hell was everyone staring at her?

Koenma sensed her discomfort and could understand. "Come take a walk with me."

"Do I have a choice?" At his look she sighed. "Alright." She felt everyone's eyes on them as they walked a good distance away from the building. She was ready to go home already, this wasn't her day. Bad enough they were attacked and her secret exposed. But she got to see that Yukina was about as perfect as Kuwabara thought her to be. She wasn't sure why that bothered her.

"You will be in danger now for awhile." He grabbed her hands suprising her.

"Keh," Her jaw hit the ground and her eyes narrowed. Why the hell was he grabbing her hand?

"I will insist that you have protection, for your own safety."

"You mind letting go off me?"

"Oh sorry, I've just always wanted to meet you. My father often spoke of you, then I had to keep an eye on you to make sure your destiny was fulfilled." He released her hands and blushed. "I take it that was his?" His eyes landed on the rosary.

"Yes this was Inuyasha's."

"I see. Well, I'll have Botan take you home now. I will speak to everyone here and explain things. Unless you want to stay."

"Oh no, let me head home. You can stay and tell them whatever you want."
