The Past To Hate

Chapter Eleven


"I think I'm jealous."

Sesshomaru heard the girl walking up behind him. He'd sensed her after releasing Kagome a few minutes ago. "Why would you be jealous of the girl?"

"You never kissed me like that." She saw the shocked expression on his face and laughed. It was fun to rile him even after all this time. "I knew you liked her."

"This Sesshomaru doesn't like his brother's wench. You are mistaken."

A very unlady like snort followed that boast. "That false bravado might work with others but don't try it with me. It will only piss me off. Don't make me angry, you wouldn't like me when I'm angry." (Sorry couldn't resist)

His thoughts were back on the girl traveling with his brother. He didn't know what possessed him to kiss the girl. Why had she kissed him back? Her scent told him that she'd been just as effected as he. "She thinks too little of herself."

"Who is Kikyo? I heard her name mentioned. Inuyasha seems to hold her on a pedestal."

"She was the woman he fell in love with over fifty years ago. Naraku coveted the jewel which Kikyo was the guardian of. He plotted and turned them against each other. Kikyo was killed and Inuyasha bound to a tree. Kagome is said to be her reincarnation. Somehow, Kikyo is now walking around much like yourself. Yet her body is made of bones and graveside soil. She needs souls to keep herself alive."

"I see, a bigger freak than me. Explains a few things. So there's a love triangle going on there. Or should I say a square?" His eyebrow lifted and she continued. "I don't want to hear it, you are attracted to her. Let me inform you of a few things. Along with my spiritual powers my other senses have improved also. And I know what I smelled back there. You were both aroused. If you want her why are you acting like Myouga."

"This Sesshomaru will not take a human mate."

"Let me ask you this. Do you think me worthy of a demons love?"

Sesshomaru didn't know how to answer that question. She was worth of a lot. Even the love of a demon unlike Inuyasha's mother. She was more than worthy because she had his. "Yes."

"So if one human is worthy of a demon's love then why not another? What about your father? Can you say your father wasn't truly happy with his human mate. We both saw them together." She let her mind drift back. "I envied them you know. They looked so happy together. Besides, I see something special when I look at that girl."

"Even though she is with the man you would like to call your own?"

"Now you have no idea what you are talking about."

"We have both been following them and watching each other. I see the way you gaze at that half breed brother of mine. After watching him the love you once felt has started to grow. Do you deny this?" Sesshomaru waited for her answer.

"Damn right I do! And we aren't discussing me, don't try to change the subject. If you were as smart as you pretend to be you'd get off the pedestal you've jumped on by yourself and take what you want. Besides if Inuyasha is in love with this Kikyo then she is bound to get hurt if she keeps pursuing him. The girl can become powerful with proper training."

"And who would train her? Would you be willing to do this?" Sesshomaru remembered the way she was looking at herself. Then again he'd heard his brother putting the girl down before. The things he'd heard was enough to kill anyone's confidence. "She will never be anything if she doesn't believe in herself."

"True, I see what you are getting at. I'll do it." She gave him a huge grin. "Don't worry my LORD, by the time I get done with her you will be proud to call her your mate."

He growled loud enough for her to hear. She continued to walk away laughing the whole time.


Kagome was back in camp fixing dinner. At first she was nervous when Inuyasha gave her a wierd look. He didn't say anything merely ignored her and sulked. Everyone sat around eating trying to ease some of the tension by chatting. Miroku was inching his hand slowly towards the taijiya's bottom. A loud slap rang out.

"Stupid monk." Inuyasha sighed. He had a headache from thinking too much. He was kind of hoping to see a sign of Kikyo soon. Maybe seeing her would help straighten out his feelings. At one time all he could think about was Kikyo, then there was Kagome. He knew he loved both women. He had loved Kikyo over fifty years ago and he loved Kagome now. He had kissed both also and that nagged at him. Lately, that bitch miko was entering his mind. He wasn't remembering his childhood either. That damn hug kept entering his mind. That simple act was forever engraved in his there. The contact of her skin had set his on fire. Feeling her in his arms had filled him with several emotions. The strongest had been the feeling of belonging. Like being away from home for years then walking back into the door once more. Then the feel of her skin on his. He'd felt desire spring to life while holding her. It irked him because he'd been remembering her as someone who'd taken care of him as a child. Yet, his desire had flared. The kisses from both Kikyo and Kagome had been pleasant, yet hadn't sparked his blood. The bitch was probably out there somewhere fucking Naraku at this very moment and he was lusting after her. He had some seroius issues. Next time Kikyo came he'd test his theory. Maybe he could desire her the same way. With that plan in mind he glanced back at Kagome.

She was looking at one of those text book things. Waste of time in his opinion. Who needed to read to hunt jewel shards. He glanced over and cursed. Think about the bitch and she appears. Strolling casually into their camp was Leiko.

Kagome heard him swear and turned around. She smiled at seeing the young girl. "Hello again."

She nodded her head at everyone ignoring the hanyou. "Kagome, may I speak with you?"

"Okay, guess you wanna talk in private." She placed her biology book down and stood.

"What the hell do you think you're doing. You wanna die. That bitch will kill you as soon as you turn your back." He jumped out his tree and pulled his fang out. He started cursing when it wouldn't transform for him. "I'll just kill you with my bare hands then."

"Sit boy!" Upon hearing the thud Kagome followed the other miko into the woods.


"Do you really trust me that much?" She had to know.

Kagome smiled at her. "Well, you did save my life. That doesn't indicate that you want me dead. You've had several opportunities to do the job yourself. So yeah I trust you. Did you need something?"

"No, I have no needs but you do." At her confused look, Leiko continued. "You are in need of some training. I sense strong power laying dormant, with the proper training you could be a good miko. Since I have nothing better to do with my time, I've come to offer my knowledge to you."

Kagome didn't know what to say. She was speechless. First, someone thought she wasn't a helpless pathetic human. Second, someone like Leiko was offereing to take the time to train her. It would mean being able to defend herself better, being able to help out more in battles. No more hearing how Kikyo was the better preistess. "Why would you offer your help to me?"

"As I said, I have nothing to do. I'm bored. Traveling with you could prove to be interesting and I like you. What do you say?"

Kagome found the idea exciting beyond words. Then she looked at the girl, who looked close to her in age. Did Inuyasha have something to do with her wanting to travel with them. Did it matter? Inuyasha for some reason decided to despise the girl that had once been his childhood friend and he thought herself to be useless. "I accept. Thank you it would mean a lot to me."

"Very well, we will go back to inform your friends. Though I have a feeling your mate will be displeased."

Kagome's face turned red. Did she just call Inuyasha her mate. True, they had a special relationship but she wasn't his mate. Lately she'd been having doubts if she even wanted that position. That kiss Sesshomaru had given proved a lot of things to her. Inuyasha's kiss had never made her toes curl or send that delicious heat in her stomach. "Inuyasha will get over it. The others will welcome you."

Inuyasha was pulling himself out his crater when they returned. "Stupid bitch."

"Is there any female he doesn't call a bitch?" Leiko asked loud enough for everyone to hear.

"Kikyo," four voices answered in unison.

"Fuck all of you. If you two are done talking, then I suggest she leaves." He took a step forward.

"I'm not going anywhere." He wasn't intimidating her. She'd taken a belt to his ass many a day. Let him step up. "I made Kagome an offer and she has accepted. Deal with it."

Kagome clapped her hands in front of her. "That's right, she offered to train me and I accepted. So she will be traveling with us for awhile."

"Like hell she will. If she's not gone in the next couple of minutes, shes a dead bitch." Everyone stared at him in disbelief, the only other person he was this hostile towards was Naraku. Why was he behaving this way?

She didn't understand it either. So she had thrown a little threat in his face. It didn't warrant this kind of attitude. He was beginning to piss her off. She planned on training the young girl, he would have to deal with it. "What is your problem? Did my little threat hurt your pride that much? Shame you don't take after your mother. She had some sense."

"Shut your fucking mouth."

Leiko sighed. She didn't want to make Kagome choose between being trained and her relationship with Inuyasha. "Will you please excuse us. I think me and Inuyasha need to have a little talk in private. Unless he suddenly grows up." She knew he would follow, he was pig-headed like his older brother.


She stopped when they were a good ways away from the camp. Inuyasha was cursing the whole way, he didn't know why he was even bothering to follow her. She wasn't staying.

"This is far enough. Now tell me why you don't want me to stay? I want the truth and it better be good."

"I don't have to tell you shit. You will keep walking and never come back." He watched the way her lips began to pout. The bottom lip was sticking out slightly as she chewed on the corner.

"Do you hate me?"

The question suprised him. No, he wished he did. "I don't like you, thats all you need to know. I don't trust you and I don't want you around Kagome."

The statement hurt her deeply though she'd never admit it. She'd once given her life for him and now he didn't trust her. Once, he longed for her company now he didn't want her around. Life was a sadistic bitch. "I have no reason to hurt Kagome."

"Don't try to fool me. You were brought back because of Naraku, as far as I'm concerned you are just another one of his offspring. Your scent reminds me of him. You will never be welcomed by me. You are just a by-product that looks like someone I once knew."

"Is that all I am? You can stand there and call me a by-product. Yet you desire a woman made up of dirt, that reeks of death and decay." She had no idea what Kikyo smelled like but it was a good guess.

He saw red and struck out at her. She did nothing to defend herself as his hand slapped her hard across the face. Her head snapped back at the force. She felt her bottom lip split. Still she did nothing. Sesshomaru had once told her that her one weakness had been him. Tears came to her eyes as blood rolled down her chin.

"I..." His hand reached out to cup her chin. He hadn't meant to hit her. He pulled her into his embrace, "I'm sorry." Her arms went around his back. He looked down at her, he'd lost his temper. Knowing that he actually desired her. Her soft green eyes shone bright with unshed tears. Tears he had caused. Without thinking he lowered his head until his lips brushed across hers.

Leiko closed her eyes when she felt his lips brush against hers. Her nerves came alive at the small contact and she held on to him tightly. His tongue ran over her top lip careful not to injure the one he'd just hurt. She opened her mouth for him and he deepened the kiss. He slid his tongue inside not satisfied until it met hers. He felt himself growing harder as she brushed her tongue against his. Yet he couldn't stop, he had to taste every inch of her sweet mouth. Their tongues dueled for several minutes until she gave in to his. Her hand was sliding up and down his back sending shivers through his spine. His body was on fire with need for her.

His hands were soon entwined in her hair holding her mouth under his. He started sucking on her bottom lip. She moaned when he ran his tongue over the wound. It licked out, cleaning the blood off. That done he rammed his tongue back in her hot mouth. She moaned when she felt his arousal brushing against her stomach. Inuyasha felt the contact and moaned in her mouth. Her tongue roamed over his fangs. He tried to take a deep breathe to calm his raging desire. Big mistake, he was hit with the full scent of her arousal.

He pushed her away from him. He felt his blood ringing in his ears, making it hard to think. "Leave, don't come back." She didn't know what to do, the kiss had left her shaken. Nodding she took off into the night.
