The Thing

He had not expected this.

He could understand Inuyasha building up a following, a cult, around himself.

He could see why Inuyasha hurt Rin. To hurt him. The girl looked at him from between her guards legs, hope lighting up her face. She did not look well treated.

But he had not forseen the change in his half-brother.

The thing before him resembled a dark imitation of Inuyasha. A beast with jagged claws and red eyes. A monster covered in the gore and spilt blood of his victims, as he no longer washed.

A horrible pervesion of youkai and human.

Inuyasha-no, the thing that used to be Inuyasha, snickered as he ordered his followers back. He would deal with this himself.

"Sesshmaru," The thing spat his name out like a curse. "I was beginning to think you wouldn't come."

Kouga appeared from behind Sesshomaru and hurled insults at Inuyasha, who ignored him.

"Release Rin." The youkai-lord commanded.

The thing laughed.

"Give up one of my favorite toys? Why would I do that? She's so good to fuck." The snickers from Kagura told Sesshomaru Inuyasha wasn't joking.

"Such an action is dispicable, even for a hanyou." He growled, his eyes flashing red.

This made the Inuyasha-thing laugh harder. "Temper, temper," he said as he reached over and picked up Rin by her throat, his claws pricking the tender skin, "You might upset me, and then I'll have to rip out her pretty little throat."

He continued, "I see you can revive the dead with tensaiga. Next time I won't leave a corpse."

Sesshomaru backed down. For now.

"Where is Ayame, dog-shit?"

Inuyasha snarled at Kouga, his claws going deeper into Rin.

"She is nothing but a whore, to be used at will by anyone. I think she likes it."

The wolf lost his temper and ran at Inuyasha. The hanyou quickly tossed Rin to the ground and moved behind him. The last thing Kouga felt was Inuyasha snapping his neck.

"Sorry about the interuption." he said as the wolf's lifeless body fell to the ground. "Wait a second. Kohaku, come here."

The boy approached and bowed to his master. Without a word Inuyasha dug his clawed finger into the boy's back, removing his shard. He immediatly fell dead as his killer swallowed the shard.

Now feeling the power of four shards, he turned back to his brother. "Now where were we? Oh right, you were begging me for your little girl. No, her hole is too tight. I like it"

Unable to contain his anger any longer, Sesshomaru drew tokajin and charged. To his supprise and dismay Inuyasha parried him with tetsuiga much too easily.

"Come on, I know you can do better."

Sesshomaru struck from a different angle, cutting into Inuyasha's chest. The insane hanyou laughed as his blood spilt onto the ground, then kept going as if nothing had happened.

The battle went on for over three hours. Sesshomaru attacked ruthlessly while Inuyasha only defended. The youkai-lord realized that his brother should have been dead by now. His wounds were such that nothing natural could have survived.

This couldn't be. He was Sesshomaru, lord of the western lands. Inuyasha was a mere hanyou. How was it possible?

It had to be the jewel shards. They provided Inuyasha with a near-infinite source of energy and power. And Sesshomaru was beginning to tire.

Inuyasha blocked his strike and then countered. The youkai-lord barely moved in time as the serrated claws cut deep into his side, narrowly avoiding pulling out his entrails.

He staggered back as Inuyasha licked the blood and flesh off his claws.

"I'm feeling generous. Lets make a deal. I'll trade Rin for the tensaiga. If you say no, I'll just kill you and take it. But it would be so much more fun to hunt you down for a change."

Sesshomaru was skeptical. It had to be a trick. But then, why would someone in a position of power need to trick his opponent?

He agreed, and was suprised when Inuyasha kept his word. But he did have to throw himself at his brother's feet and beg. Afterwards he and Rin where allowed to leave.

As Inuyasha raised the tensaiga in triumph, he coughed up a jewel shard and rammed it into Kohaku's back. The boy sprung back to life, eager to obey his master.

Kouga was revived with tensaiga, and tossed to the horde, to join Ayame in a waking nightmare of daily beatings and gang-rapes.

That night as the thing that had once been Inuyasha bedded down, Kohaku's naked form cuddled against his, he was happy for the first time in a long time.

I know that Inuyasha shouldn't be able to use the tensaiga. Just think of it as a power he got from the jewel shards.
