CHAPTER 11: A Deadly Business Negotiation
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was dark as Kagome trudged into the living room and threw herself onto the couch. She settled their for a few second before she sensed it. Someone, no, something was eyeing her in the dark. ‘Don’t panic, girl,’ Kagome thought wildly. ‘Act like you don’t realize their there then get up from the couch. Next run! Scream!’ Kagome got ready to move when a chilling voice stopped any thought of escaping. Fear seized her being.
“Don’t even think about screaming.”
All of a sudden a strong pair of hands shot out of nowhere holding Kagome captive. One hand, clamped over her mouth the other around her waist. He had sensed her fear in the air and heard her heart beat increase at a fast rate.
“Kagome Higurashi,” the male voice said, with no emotion. “I have a business deal for you.”
A light turned on in the corner of the living room, where her lamp was stationery on the coffee table. It revealed a small green, but rather ugly, youkai. He looked past her then nodded and disappeared around the corner from sight.
“I will let you go human if you don’t scream.”
’Human?’ Her mind screamed. Then she felt claws digging into her side, in a silent warning for obedience. Kagome nodded in agreement, but only for the moment. She was already planning her escape the moment he let her go. When her captor did so, Kagome shot her leg out in a round house kick meant for her captures face. Pity, she wasn’t quick enough thou.
Sesshoumaru was reading her body language, and knew she was planning to strike. He caught her leg in one hand just bare inches before it hit him in the face. A low growl came from his mouth.
Kagome was now in a very disabling position for her to defend herself. Her attacker, well… he really hadn’t attacked her yet anyways, she thought. Okay, unwelcome intruder, had her leg while she was balancing on the other trying to remain standing. Kagome’s dress was now sliding down her leg revealing a shapely leg in this capture's possession, and now her underwear in this position she found herself in.
“Shameful, girl? Did you think you could really do me any harm?” His golden eyes moved down her leg then to Kagome's face.
That sent shivers down Kagome’s spine. “Let me go!”
“Only if you behave yourself.”
Her eyes now darkened to blue in anger. Kagome’s vision was now getting accustom to the dimness of her apartment which let her view her intruder, and he was the handsome angel. ‘No,’ she corrected herself, ‘devil, from the club.’
“It’s you! You’re from the club.” Kagome was returning the intense stare right back at Sesshoumaru himself.
“Good, now that we have established that you are….”
Kagome sensed he meant to insult her so she cut him off. “Insult me and I just might give you a black eye too.” Kagome warned.
His laughter was her only response.
Sesshoumaru stopped laughing and smiled at her which made her shudder. “Now, that is no way to talk to a potential backer for your employers company, is it?”
That threw Kagome for a moment. “What?”
“Don’t tell me, Kagome Higurashi, that my half witted half brother did not tell you that his company is in danger of take over.” He asked.
“The buy out.” She whispered, sadness feel across Kagome’s face at the reminder.
“So, you do know.” He said in a distant tone.
She just nodded. “But, how would you know? It’s been…” Kagome’s one leg was finally getting weak from supporting entire body weight and she went down.
He caught her in one graceful motion. His arm snaked around her waist anchoring the beauty, firmly to his chest while he let go of her leg. Sesshoumaru quickly sat down with Kagome sitting across his lap in an intimate position. He could tell that her fear was thinly dispersed in the air and was quickly being replace by something else he couldn’t quit figure out. She carries the fragrance of lilacs and… innocence, it hit him swiftly. Sesshoumaru found this very surprising, but didn’t let his angelic features show it. He smiled deviously to himself as he thought at least she smell better then death and decay.
*gasp*
Kagome went rigid that she thought her spine would snap. All she could do was gape at him, which caused Kagome’s thought to wonder off. ‘His eyes are very…. very captivating. Those golden eyes appear to…know my soul.’ Then she noticed something else, silver hair. ‘It matches Inuyasha’s hair. Wait a second. Did he just sniff me?
“I make it my business to know what is going on with my competitor’s. You know the saying, keep your friends close but your enemies closer.” Sesshoumaru saw the lost look in her face as the girl, no he corrected himself, woman’s enchanting blue-gray eyes began to distance themselves from reality. He decided to fix this.
Kagome’s bottom made contact with the carpeted floor rudely bring her back from her haze. It took a moment to realize what he had done. “Look here you….”
His clawed hand clamped over her mouth hard. Kagome then paid attention to the marking on his hand and that it seemed to go up his arm. A hot breath in her ear whispered a calm impassive threat to her.
“Insult me and I just might kill you.” Sesshoumaru had turned some of her words around on her. This only warranted him a deep sigh across his palm, felt from her lips along with an insufferable glare.
“Kagome Higurashi,” he pulled back from her “I will make a deal with you, one that you can’t refuse.” Sesshoumaru began to pull his hand back from her lips when he gave her hard look.
“What is it, Sesshoumaru-sama?” Kagome said in a respectful tone.
“Decided to be civil are we?” he mocked as he tried to bait her again. Some how Sesshoumaru liked this Kagome Higurashi and the way she fought him.
’Why is he toying with me?’ Kagome thought. ‘He must be enjoying this immensely. Well, two can play that game, oh, mister high and mighty.’ She laughed at this thought.
Sesshoumaru gave her a questioning look and then decided she must be trying to placate him. “Naraku World Inc., is the second of Tokyo’s largest companies, however; in a recent attempt to again even more …”
“Who, then own's the largest company in Tokyo, than?” Kagome listened intently while things began to slide into place like a puzzle, revealing the complete picture. She was staring at the floor when she interrupted his explanation.
He smiled at her question. “Me.”
“So, in order for him, Naraku, to move up the ladder…” she swallowed hard at that vile name, “So to speak, he would need to be successful in the buy out of the company. Than that would put you in danger then wouldn’t it? You wouldn’t be number one then.”
“You are smarter then you look then. For a pathetic human.” Sesshoumaru said in a bore tone. He was a little irritated that she figured it out so quickly. If he could get her to agree to his terms he would acquire what his father had left him. This would make sure that he was the most powerful and influential corporations in Tokyo.
That insult infuriated Kagome, so that she blurted out a reply without even thinking about it. “If you would get off you high ass horse then you would realize that some human are intelligent! However, Sesshoumaru, right now you are failing in brilliance if you think insulting me is anyway to get what you …”
Sesshoumaru’s golden eyes now turned red with a flash giving her only moments warning before he attacked her. She drove from her sitting position just seconds before his clawed hand made contact with her beige carpet creating a large circular burn area. Poison sizzled when it dripped from his sharp nails.
