Chapter 11

"You're not mistaken?" A deep even voice asked, a voice as dark as the surrounding room where she stood bent at her knees infront of the man before her.

"Yes Naraku-sama. Just as you expected, everything has fallen into place. What do you intend to do now?" Kagura asked, daring to raise her head high enough to look at him, her scarlet eyes watching him for his reaction. Naraku's lip curled into a smile, one of which she knew was not one that held no warmth or foretold any good to come from it. It was a rather disarming smile were it not for the fact she knew of this man's deceitful and devious nature.

"Go then Kagura. Do not fail me." Naraku said coldly, his voice as icy as the glare he gave her. Silently she nodded her head before rising to her feet and turned on her heel, slipping out of the room.

"Kouga, for the last time, I'm fine. And you can get your hand off my ass." Ayame said with a teasing smile as she looked over her shoulder at her mate, received a fanged smirk in reply.

"Nah. Keeps drawing me to it." Kouga said smirking at her as Inuyasha rolled his eyes.

"Get a hut already would you two?" Inuyasha growled irratedly as Kagome elbowed him gently.

"Inuyasha, give them a break. You should at least try to be happy for them. Kouga's not really that bad a guy, he never was-"

"Says you."

"Inuyasha! Kouga's always been a valuable ally."

"Only because of those shards in his legs wench! It's the only reason he's even half a challenge to me." Inuyasha said, folding his arms over his chest.

"Keep dreaming Inukuro. Even without these shards, I could wipe the ground with your ugly face. Besides, how is my relying on shards any different than you relying on that pigsticker of yours?" Kouga asked with a smirk at Inuyasha growled lowly.

"You know, I hate to admit it Inuyasha, but Kouga's got a point. I imagine without his shards and without you actually using Tetseiga you would probably be an even match for each other." Miroku said as the dog hanyou turned his glare to the monk.

"That's YOUR opinion." Inuyasha growled as the monk held up his hands defensively.

"Alright alright I get it. Case dropped." Miroku said before leaning over towards Sango. "Point proven though." He added with a mumble as the brunette nodded in agreement.

"Come on you guys, leave Inuyasha alone. He's just grouchy cause its getting close to his time of the month." Kagome said teasingly as the silver haired hanyou narrowed his amber eyes on her.

"Is that supposed to be funny?"

"Not at all Inuyasha. But tonight is the new moon isn't it?" Kagome reminded him as he growled darkly and folded his arms across his chest.

"Don't remind me. Bad enough I have to be stuck with a couple of wolves that go at it worse than a pair of rabbits. Now this." Inuyasha grumbled.

"Rabbits? Give me a little credit Inukuro." Kouga said cockily.

"I did. That's why I said rabbits. I could have just said horny wolf, but I was trying to spare you. Not that I should have bothered." Inuyasha said as Ayame blushed profusely.

"Now look Inuyasha, you've embarrassed the lady." Miroku chided, scowling him with a frown before smiling charmingly at the red headed she wolf. "Forgive him, Lady Ayame. The words escape his lips before his brain can stop them."

"Hold it! Something's not right..." Kouga said, narrowing his eyes coldly as he suddenly tensed up, clenching his fists, his eyes narrowed icily.

"Hey hey, I didn't mean anything by it." Miroku said, waving his hands in the air and looking highly nervous at the brown wolf. Kouga however ignored him as Inuyasha let out a growl, his white ears flattening against his head.

"Damn it, of all the time. You damn wolf! You led her to us!" Inuyasha snarled, glaring over at Kouga.

"Yea right mutt! I would have no reason to! Ayame stay over near Kagome and Sango no matter what got it?" Kouga growled, looking at her out of the corner of his eyes.

"But...Kouga? What's going on? Why?" Ayame asked, her green eyes watching him intently.

"Just do what I say bitch!" Kouga growled at her.

"My my my. Well if this isn't touching." Kagura purred above them, seated on her feather, fanning herself idly as her red eyes trailed around the group. "You really think even if you work together you stand a chance? All you do is present easier opportunity for your own downfall."

"Bitch! What the hell do you want?" Kouga snarled in rage. "Haven't you caused enough trouble?!"

"That's half the fun though Prince. Besides, you don't get it do you. Naraku has everything he needs...or soon will..." She said cooly.

"What the hell are you talking about bitch? You gonna sit up there on your lazy ass all day or come fight already? If all you're gonna do is talk, do it some other time!" Inuyasha snapped.

"Temper temper halfbreed. This doesn't concern you." Kagura replied, snapped her fan down upon the group. "Dance of Blades."

The group scattered to avoid the sharp winds, dodging out of the way as they tore up the ground behind them. Inuyasha grabbed Kagome, leaping out of harms' way, as Miroku and Sango leapt unto the fully transformed Kilala. Kouga and Ayame used their own youkai reflexes to easily dodge as well, Kouga lifting his head and baring his fangs at the wind user.

"Kagura, you call yourself a demon? You're just another puppet!" Kouga snarled. Kagura's eyes flashed as she snapped her fan tighter at him.

"Dance of the Dragon" She called, the grey tornadoes scrapping across the ground at him with a full on violent force. He smirked, the shards in his legs glowing as he leapted and dodged easily out of the path.

"That the best you can do? Almost like you weren't even trying bitch." Kouga said with a smirk. He froze suddenly, the words caught in his throat as his eyes widened, his heart leaping into his throat as Kagura smiled darkly at him, before her eyes trailing over the the figure in the white baboon pelt, a struggling red head in his grip.

"Ayame! Let her go you son of a bitch!" Kouga snarled, his blue eyes flashing crimson.

"What a find predicament you walked yourself into, isn't it Kouga? Did you really think it would be so easy? How convientient that this little gift falls so easily into your lap as such an convientient time wouldn't you agree?" Naraku asked as Kouga's eyes widened.

"You bastard. You planned it all."

"Perhaps. Rather concidential isn't it? So what will you do now Kouga?" Naraku asked.

"You planned it, you set me up! Everything! Kagura's attack on Ayame! Then her going into heat so soon after! You knew she would didn't you?! You set it all up!" Kouga snarled, clenching his fists so tightly they dug into the palm of his hands.

"That low down bastard!" Inuyasha snarled, unsheathing the Tetseiga. Ayame let out a strained whimper as the grip around her throat tightened.

"I wouldn't." Naraku warned as Inuyasha paused, growling but not making any further advancements.

"Now...what will it be Kouga? Your mate and pups...or your shards?" Naraku asked.

"You son of a bitch! I'll give you neither! Release her or so help me I'll do worse than kill you!" Kouga snarled.

"Wrong answer." Naraku replied, sending a fist sharply into his captive's abdomen. Ayame screamed in pain as she folded over, clutching her stomach. Kouga snarled, his eyes burning scarlet in his rage.

"YOU FILTHY HALFBREED SON OF A BITCH!" He roared.

"Naraku!" Sango cried, hurling her boomerang at him, Ayame sinking to her knees, clutching her stomach as Naraku released her in order to avoid the bone boomerang himself as it cut between him and his previous hostage. Seizing the opportunity Inuyasha darted forward, scooping the female wolf up and out of the way as Kouga made an attempt to lunge at the man.

"You cowardly son of a bitch. I'll rip you apart with my bare hands even if it kills me!" Kouga promised, slashing his claws at the white baboon pelt. Naraku simply laughed, fading backwards into the shadows and out of range, disappearing from sight.

"Dance of Blades." Kagura called, sending one last attack at them as she too took flight and took off.

"Ayame! Gods Ayame, please be alright." Kouga said, falling to his knees beside her, wrapping his arms gently around her shoulders, whiping the tears from her eyes. The scent of blood hit his nose making his own blood run cold.

"Ayame?"

"I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry." She repeated over and over, her shoulders racked with her painfilled sobbing. At the sight of the blood along the inside of her thighs, his growl darkened, holding her against his chest.

"I swear to god....he'll suffer a hundredfold for this."
