As Inuyasha stood there, silently watching as Bankotsu combed Jakotsu's hair gently, he couldn't help but ask, "Are you really just his friend? I can not imagine being so gentle with a friend. Now my wife on the other hand."

With a soft smile, Bankotsu finally took his eyes off of Jakotsu and glanced up at him. "For now, I am. He is patiently waiting for me," Bankotsu explained wishing he was ready. He was tired of waiting and making him wait, but he feared if he tried to jump into a relationship he was not ready for it would only ruin their chances of being happy together.

"Ah I see," Inuyasha admitted, even though he didn't really, but he didn't want to risk incensing Bankotsu by asking too many questions. Especially at a time like this. "Do you need anything?" he asked instead, wishing there was more he could do to help his friend.

"Some water would be nice," Bankotsu informed him, his attention already back on Jakotsu. He hadn't even had the chance to notice his absence when Inuyasha was returning and handing him a canteen of water. As he walked away, mentioning something about eating, Bankotsu took a few sips of water for himself before filling his mouth once more and pressing his lips against Jakotsu's.

Slowly he let the water trickle down into his mouth; gently massaging his throat to help him swallow. Once he was sure that it was working and he wasn't going to choke on the water, Bankotsu gave him another mouthful.

Once he was certain he didn't want anymore, Bankotsu rested back against the wagon as he pulled Jakotsu into his lap as much as he could. Closing his eyes, he listened to the sounds coming from the others outside around the fire.

Thinking about it now, he could not remember the last time he had the company of others before Jakotsu appeared in his life. And now, after such a short time together, he could not imagine what he would do if he had lost him tonight, but he did know that he never wanted to find out.
