chapter nine
The gang traveled north and in front of them they saw large town. It was now noon and the gang decided to walk through instead of walking around. Once they entered the town Shizuka got a smirk on her face and made hand movements to Hotaru, who smiled.
“That is a great idea, Shizuka!” she turned to the rest of the group. “Shizuka thinks that maybe we should ask around for more information of Naraku’s whereabouts.”
“We already know he is north!” InuYasha said in a huff. Shizuka made some more hand movements.
“She does have a point… She says that if there was a minion of him outside our window then he must already know we are after him and change direction. Might as well try.” Said Kurama. The others nodded in agreement. “How about we split up into groups? That way we can gather information faster.”
“That does sound like a good idea. So there are 12 of us. So how about these as groups, InuYasha, Shippo and I, Sango, Miroku, and Kuwabara, Shizuka, Kurama and Hotaru, and Kilala, Hiei and Yusuke?” Kagome said pointing to each one. The groups nodded in agreement and split up.
Shizuka smirked at Kagome. She had seen that look before. No wonder she traveled with the half-breed. As her group rounded the corner Shizuka bumped into a man. She bowed her head and the man looked at her.
“Well?” Shizuka looked up at the man with a questioning look. “You should apologize for bumping into me.” The man seemed to have no fear that he was talking to a demon. Shizuka bared her teeth and Kurama placed a hand on her arm.
“Excuse her. She is a mute and a bow is all she can do to show her apology.” Kurama said bowing his head.
“A mute? Had her tongue cut out?”
“No she just never spoke, please excuse us.” Kurama dragged Shizuka away from the man and toward Hotaru. Shizuka had a huge grin on her face. “You moron… the way he was dressed he was a public official!” Shizuka shrugged her shoulders and Hotaru ran to the other side of her and secretly Shizuka passed her a rather large sack. “So you stole from him?” {Ok from this point on %…% is Shizuka speaking…well using hand movements. It is getting annoying for me. Also ^ …^ is Youko talking inside to Suichi. And Suichi talking to him in return.}
% Yes, the ass deserved it. Acting so high and mighty. He was lucky I didn’t rip out his tongue. %
“Shizuka, why did you steal it?”
% Were you not watching? He should have been watching where he was walking. I would have maybe taken only the smaller coin sac but I took both cause of his attitude. %
“And what if he comes looking for it? And he remembers the demon who bumped into him?”
% That is where Hotaru comes in. %
“Yes Kurama, I hold the money. If they come after her they don’t find the money but if they still suspect her I run to her and start crying ‘mommy!’ It works and they see she is a compassionate demon who took in a human child after her parents were murdered in cold blood by other humans” Hotaru said looking up at Kurama.
“You are teaching a human child this?”
% Actually she thought of that herself. She is quite the actress. %
Youko chuckled inside of Suichi. ^ You have to admit that the human is good. ^
^ She looks no more than 10! Already she is in the thieving business. I know you did it most of your life but she is a human. She could have her hand chopped off if she is caught. ^
^ Shizuka wouldn’t let that happen. Look at how they act with each other. ^ Kurama looked at the two. Shizuka was wiping a smudge from Hotaru’s face. ^ Shizuka has adopted the young human pup. Kitsunes are very protective of their pups. They will fight until either they or their opponent is dead. ^ Hotaru smiled and turned to Shizuka and whispered in her ear. Shizuka made a surprised face and Hotaru began running with Shizuka chasing her. ^You wish to be part of that, don’t you. ^
^ That is Kuronue’s fiancée! You really have no shame. ^
^ You misunderstand me. You wish to be part of that. And besides, haven’t you noticed? She isn’t my type. ^ He could feel Youko smirk. He had noticed Youko was different. Not just that he was a demon living inside of him, but he would get hard whenever a good-looking man would remove his shirt. Especially whenever a fire demon would come to spend the night or decide to train topless. ^ Don’t worry; you can still be with her. Or anyone else you want. Just when you die I can go back to my life. ^
^ How do you know my type? I keep a lot of secrets from you. ^
^ And I you, until we speak again. ^ Kurama sighed and Hotaru walked over to him.
“I know what is like.”
“You know what is like what, Hotaru?”
“Having a demon inside of you.”
