Chapter 10
Changes

Satisfied that she had gotten her point across to the bitch, Sasuna walked to the great hall so she could meet with Katura about the special mating gift for Kagome and Sesshoumaru. She couldn’t just disappear again and leave them nothing to remember her by. Something that would help them remember the part she played in their life, her friendship. Smiling to her self she quickened her pace there was not much time left before it would be needed.

Walking about the palace after talking with Sesshoumaru at great length about the mating, Kagome felt as though she could start singing she was so happy, even though she couldn’t carry a tune for the life of her. As she walked through a doorway she noticed she was in what looked to be the western garden, it was more elaborate than any of the others. She was greeted by the sight of millions of roses in full bloom, Lilacs, and Jasmine. She walked to a bush of her favorite flowers, Bleeding Hearts. When she got close to it the bush shook, then a faint hiss flowed to her ears. Something small, black and very furry darted between her feet as it rushed from underneath the bush. Turning to keep it in her sights she saw a black Twin tailed fire Neko looking back at her. It had a small diamond on its chest. She crouched low to the ground and put her palm forward toward the little neko. Who looked at her as though she had gone crazy. Kagome started in surprise as she “heard” a voice inside her mind speak.
“If you honestly think I am going to sniff it you ARE crazy.”

“Oh… well I was just trying to be nice. I am not going to hurt you. It was only meant as a peace offering.”

“Yeah right! Like I am going to believe that after what SHE did to me?”

“When you say She who do you mean exactly?”

“The bitch who believes the lord of the western lands would stoop to mate with her.”

“So you must mean Ciana, what did she do?”

“She tried to kill me because I wouldn’t give the western lord a potion to poison his mind…”

“Well I am not her, and it is unfair to judge others because of what one did to you. Everyone is not all alike.”

“What makes you so sure?”

“I am a Miko and just because I have the markings of a demoness does not make me cruel… They do not define what character I have.”

“That is true. I will strive to remember that not all are alike.”

“Thank you…. May I ask your name? Mine is Kagome.”

“I have no name. I am a wild neko but perhaps it is time for that to change. You could give me a name.”

Once again Kagome offered her hand to the Neko. He slowly moved forward until his head bumped her hand.
“Will you give me a name Miko?”

“Hmm… Let’s see… Antino? No I can tell you don’t like that. Brun? No. Not that one either. I really wish I could call you Angel but it is too girlish. I know! How about Ange Dechu? It’s French!”

“Really? What does it mean?”

“Fallen Angel. I think it is appropriate given your past. Do you like it?”

“Yes, I like it very much. Ange Dechu? I guess I really am a Fallen Angel. I have lost faith in the western Lord Sesshoumaru’s ability to protect us demons in his own lands. Everyone needs to be protected from that Bitch who wants to be his mate.”

“I can imagine Ciana would want to hurt you for not doing what she wanted, but she is not to be the Lord’s mate… I am.”

“That is wonderful news. I am glad I have met you my Lady.”

“Just call me Kagome. Ok?”

“Ok Kagome.”


Sesshoumaru paced back and forth in his study, he had just learned of what had happened between Ciana and Sasuna. Now he needed to know EXACTLY what had been said. He hadn’t sent for Ciana, she would lie to save herself. Sasuna should be here soon it had been about an hour since he had sent Jaken for her. She should have been here by now. What was taking so long? Every witness had said that they had seen them walk into the library as though nothing were wrong. Then suddenly, Sasuna had slammed the door locked it threw up a barrier and had Ciana around the throat. But none had been able to HEAR what had been said because of the barrier. Turning toward the door as it opened he watched Sasuna walk into the room.

“What took you so long to get here? Did I not say it was urgent I speak to you at once?” Sesshoumaru growled out.

“Sesshoumaru, Calm down, I am here. And for that you should be thankful. Her transformation is nearly complete and when it is I must leave. So you wanted to speak to me?”

“I know. What I DO NOT know is why you felt the need to attack THE Lady of the Eastern Lands? And Sasuna, No lies. I will know if you lie.”

“Of that, I have no doubt, My Lord.” Nodding her head towards Sesshoumaru in acknowledgement of the threat she sensed in him. Then proceeded to tell him what had happened, “First let me tell you that whatever Kagome feels I feel. When she is hurt or threatened I know who did it. Just as I know when she is happy. Ciana threatened her, She hurt Kagome. I could not allow that to go unpunished. So when she appeared in the great hall after leaving you with Kagome I approached her. I acted civilly when I requested to speak with her. I acted civilly all the way to the library. The presence of the others in the library is the only thing that kept me from killing her as slowly as I could. That is why I chose the library. You already know the physical altercation that occurred between us. What you do not know is what was SAID. It is not what happened that you are wondering about. It is what was said between us… you want to know. Why I must ask is why you did not send for Ciana as well? Allow her to tell you what had happened?”

“She will lie to save herself. You however would not. You would tell the truth, I know you Sasuna. Now tell me what was said. I need to know if she will do anything. If Kagome needs to fear anything more from her.”

“Of course there is. In her mind Kagome has stolen you from her. Kagome is now regarded as a threat. One that must be dealt with immediately. An Obstacle that is to be removed from the picture. She will try to get rid of her in any way possible.”

“What was said Sasuna?” He gritted through his teeth. Beginning to become irritated with her.

“I told her that I was Kagome Sasuna Higurashi. A piece of Kagome’s soul. Her heart. So her encounter with Kagome was no secret from me. That I alone pass Judgment on those who would harm her. I told Ciana, that she had tried bringing us harm. That if she attempted such in the future I would kill her. Not just give her a small taste of my poison. I them informed her that I would always be there with Kagome even when I am not seen. I then let her fall at my feet and after looking at her in disgust I walked off.”

Silence reigned as Sasuna finished. It was the whole truth, of that Sesshoumaru had no doubt. Suddenly he smirked.

“Well we won’t have to worry about anything soon. She will bide her time before striking. You have bought me time to contemplate what to do next with her. I thank you Sasuna… this requires thought. Please leave me.”

“So you are not angry with me for what I did?”

Letting out a sharp bark of laughter, Sesshoumaru replied, “No, no I would have done far, far worse than that. You saved her from a fate worse than death for the moment.”


Kagome decided to take the issue of Ciana up with Sesshoumaru. She had to be stopped. Imagine hurting such a cute and innocent creature such as Ange Dechu… it was horrible. Stopping in front of Sesshoumaru’s study she raised her hand and knocked on the door.

“Enter.”

Walking in Kagome immediately saw him standing in front of the window overlooking the western gardens. Where she had found her Neko.

“Sesshoumaru? I must speak with you about Ciana. It is urgent.”

“Has she upset you again? If she has she will suffer for it I swear.”

“While what she has been doing behind your back disturbs me greatly, it was not I she harmed.”

“Then who?” His voice trailed off as he spotted the neko that rested on her shoulders.

“I found him in the gardens. His name is Ange Dechu. She nearly killed him Sesshoumaru. All because he would not drop a few herbs into your tea. I believe she had been trying to poison you. When he refused she beat him until he was almost dead. He had given up hope for help from you.”

“I can see how it would disturb you. It does me as well. The question now is how to deal with her. We will think carefully on this. This Sesshoumaru is tired of seeing her harm what is mine. Ange Dechu? You will come with me. This Sesshoumaru needs to investigate the lady Ciana’s chambers. You are to help.”

Blinking his eyes slowly the fire Neko nodded his head. He then jumped off of Kagome’s shoulder and preceded Sesshoumaru to Ciana’s rooms.

"Do not worry my lord! She is not even in the palace. We can go search her chambers now."

"This Sesshoumaru does not worry and even if she were here we would still search. Sasuna
has been instructed to keep her away from here. We will search thoroughly."

Stopping in front of Ciana's doorway the neko growled low and transformed into his demon body.
Looking up at Sesshoumaru as he opened a door that led to one of he many levels of hell.

"HAHAHAHAHA! Lady Ciana, Did you think to try to fight me again? Did I not show you who was superior in
battle the last time I saw you?"

"I am not here to challenge you again my lady. Only to ask of you a favor."

"What insolence is this then? You think I would really go so low as to help you?!"

"Not only me-"

"Especially when the Accession is upon my people?"

"But yourself as well. Please just listen to my proposition."

"You have my permission to explain yourself."

"Thank you my lady. In exchange for your help I offer my people to fight with you. The Eastern Lands
are in fact very fertile for breeding species. And if you assist me I will give you full reign of my lands."

"Hmm... While that is tempting, and it is, I would like to know what you require of me? But Blood and
and land plenty for me to feed and breed on. Be quick about what you want me to accomplish I grow hungry and
in this state even your blood would seem worthy for me to drink."

Ciana paled slightly as she heard the Vampire queen state that she was hungry and hurriedly explained
of the young girl who was taking Sesshoumaru away from her.

"Very well, I will see it gets done."

"Thank you my Lady. Thank You."

"Now leave before I do Kill you. I wouldn't even bother drinking your blood."

Ciana turned and fled the cave that housed the vampires. The cold laughter of the manic Queen
following her out of the Cavern. She smiled in triumph, still running in fear. The little bitch who dared
to take Sesshoumaru away from her. Sesshoumaru would be hers, everything was going just as she wanted them
to.

Sighing as she watched Ciana flee the cave Sasuna slowly came out of her hiding place behind the tree
line. *Great now I am going to have to kill an old friend.* 'Before you go charging in ready to kill may I
suggest talking to her first... It could be a misunderstanding.' *Alright, I will speak to her first.*
Turning toward the cave and away from the direction that Ciana had fled. She found the Queen with amazing
ease. She was still beautiful even after all this time.

"Sasuna, is that really you?" Whispered the Vampire Queen.

"Yes... It is. What are your dealings with Ciana, Dahling? You must tell me."

"The bitch is giving me free reign of her lands, and the use of her people's blood and bodies in
exchange for the kidnap and murder of a woman she believes stole her one true love from her." Replied Dahling
in a scathing tone.

"I can not allow you to harm this woman. Please think Dahling. I do not want to kill you." Sasuna
quietly informed her.

"What is the importance of this girl? Her name is even weird, Kagome? What is the reasoning for the
request she made me?"

"She is me, she is my successor. She will soon be the Lady of the Western Lands."

"Ah so Sesshoumaru has finally decided to mate. And a human Miko at that. She must be quite
extraordinary."

"She is not human, she is a Demon Miko. Ciana is sending you to your death, Dahling. She knows
that even if you succeed with her request Sesshoumaru will kill you."

"Sasuna, if what you tell is true, and I do not doubt that it is true, we must protect her.
Sesshoumaru must care deeply for her. Ciana must die. She can not be allowed to attempt to harm Kagome."

"That is the very reason I am here Dahling. Now would you like to hear of my plan for her safety?"

"OOOOO girl time, share!"

Sasuna sat next to her old friend and they talked well into the night. A few miles away Ciana was
seated around a campfire thinking of her triumph against Kagome. Sesshoumaru and Ange Dechu were slowly
uncovering just how far Ciana would go to get him. Kagome was chatting with her friends about her impending
mating ceremony.
