Escaping

A/n: Thank you for your review. I wasn't happy with that last chapter, myself. No matter how many times I've worked on it...I just couldn't get it to flow, they way I interpreted it in my head.

I'm pleased to say this chapter was alot smoother to write, and I truly hope I didn't dissapoint anyone in this chapter.

More angst...Enjoy!

Chapter 10
Escaping

Kagome couldn’t believe that she was ridding side-saddle. She kept the horse at a steady pace, fearful that she was going to fall off the side. She growled when the prince began laughing at her. She stuck her nose up in the air, indifferent to his presence.

“What’s a matter, don’t you know how to handle your horse, or do they not have horses where you come from….and where was that you said it was?”

“I didn’t!”

“Ah…, I would like to know more about you?” Inuyasha persisted, smirking.

“That’s too bad,” Kagome retorted! Kagome rolled her eyes in exasperation. When would he stop asking all these damn questions?

She wished she were back at the palace. She liked the pampering she received, and she felt much like a princess. She didn’t expect the luxurious gown the queen picked out. Nor, did she expect her hair done as well. She sighed, all this glamour for a funeral. She was saddened however when the queen decided to stay at the palace and coddle her husband—whom seemed to have a serious migraine, or what Kagome thought it to be a least.

Kagome wished she knew how to ride…she would escape his insistent pestering. “Inuyasha…give it up I’m not telling you!”

“Why?”

“It’s just better that you don’t know…besides I wouldn’t know how to explain it to you?” She said truthfully, as she smoothed out the Cobalt blue satin dress. At least this dress is not sucking the life out of me, she thought dryly. She narrowed her eyes. Kikyo did purposely tighten my lace.
She grabbed the reins tighter, than she expected, as the anger washed through her once again. “Why that lying no good conniving bitch!” She covered her mouth, immediately. She couldn’t believe she’d said that out loud.

Inuyasha roared with laughter. “Who?” he couldn’t help ask. “You must tell me who…so I can worn them about you!”

“Never mind, forget I said anything…” she replied shyly. Besides, Kikyo’s no longer around, she mused.

His brow rose, he had a feeling that she was referring to Kikyo. He kicked the sides of his horse, picking up his pace. “Come along, we still have a ways to go before we reach Kaede’s.” He said in an aloof voice.

She just ignored him as she watched him ride away. Dammit…me, and my big mouth.

She growled, and held on to the reins tighter, she could of swore that she was going to fall off the beast, with the constant bounce of the horses stride. She’d never been on a horse, unless she counted the time with Miroku. She watched him ride off frowning. Oh, well, she thought, he’ll soon find out when I’m missing.

She took in her surroundings, as she rode through the valley. The horse seemed to have a mind of its own when it stopped and leaned forward to graze at the long blades of grass. She frowned in frustration, she decided to watch the colorful summer flowers, dance gently in the breeze.

She couldn’t help but feel in awe at the vast amount of colors. There where so many species of flowers, and wanted to gather some to put on Kaede’s grave—but how the hell was she going to get off her horse?

She decided against it, when she almost fell sideways off her saddle. Unfortunelty, those flowers were very tempting. She could see lilies and other smaller purple flowers. For once, she wished the prince were beside her. She looked up, was he thinking about Kikyo?

Inuyasha knew that Kagome made that comment about Kikyo. He didn’t know if he wanted to know what his ex-friend did to her. So much damage was done in a short amount of time. After her inconsideration to Kagome, he knew that she would no longer be welcome in his life any longer. She’d become down right scary, and was pleased his father had stepped in to interfere. Would Kikyo come back vengeful? Either way, he would ask Kagome about it later. He turned his head to see the said girl, but she wasn’t behind him. He silently berated himself, for not concentrating on Kagome. Instead letting his thoughts run away from him.

Inuyasha cursed, roughly yanking on the reins; he turned his horse and galloped downhill, recalling his new memories with Kagome. She was making his hurt with Kikyo dull. Kagome challenged him, in ways he never knew possessed in a female.
He was pleased that his family had taken an instant liking to the girl. Like his father, he too was curious where her home was. She was definitely unique. He chuckled, and she is calling me odd…at least I know how to open a door.

He growled, suddenly when he found her, “Damn woman! You haven’t even moved an inch. We’d have been there by now, if I didn’t have to turn back and find you.”

She wanted to scream punch and maim him in such ways, how dare him. I have no idea what to even do with this beast. She could see him approaching her, and she turned her head to hide the embarrassment that showed from her rose color cheeks.

“Well?” he snapped, “You know how to ride a horse…don’t you?” his brow rose amusingly, as he rode behind her mount heading towards her on the opposite side from which he came. “Are you going to answer me?” he could see her turn her head, hiding. He laughed, “Well have it your way.” He reared his hand back and slapped the horse on the rear.

The dapple-gray horse reared up slightly, as it whinnied in fear and then sprinted forward running wildly uphill.

Kagome screamed, suddenly. The inertia from the crazed horsed pulled her body back slightly, thankful for the horn holding her leg, saving her from a nasty spill. Instead, she caught her balance and leaned forward grabbing a chunk of the horse’s white mane, entwining her fingers along with the leather reins. She had no choice but to hold on tightly.

She couldn’t believe that he did that… that jerk! Fortunately, Inuyasha was coming along side of her laughing; pushing his horse on he managed to grab the bridle, pulling both horses to a slow halt.

Panicked, Kagome immediately wanted off the horse. She was afraid to let go of the horse’s mane. She stuttered with her words, “Inuyasha-so help-you-!”

He was bellowing with laughter as he dismounted. “I didn’t think you did?”

“Did what?” she retorted, “I don’t find this very funny…I could’ve died!” She felt her ire further when he began to laugh louder.

“Nonsense…I wouldn’t have let anything happen to you!” He approached her, and helped her dismount, “Besides, you should have answered my question.” He lifted her chin staring at her startled eyes.

Kagome wanted to back away, from his intense look and the proximity of their bodies. She was so close that she could feel his warm breath brush over her sensitive skin. She try to turn her head away, but his grasp was firm. The last time she was in this predicament, he’d kissed her. If he tried that now, she didn’t know if she would be able to resist the temptation.

Her heart skipped, at the thought, and forcefully pulled back with all her vigor. “No! I don’t know how to ride…are you happy now?” She backed away. She tried, to render the memories of the kisses they shared, but the searing heat from his lips was still fresh in her mind. She turned her head, avoiding his golden stare, her breath hitched as she tried distracting the situation. “And, I don’t want to go back on that horse—not now anyways. I saw a flower patch down the ways, and I think they would be appropriate for her gravesite.” She walked past him, feeling victorious.

Shippo glanced back and forth, making sure there was no danger; Koga was behind him. He sniffed the air, growling. Hiten and his men, no doubt still looking for him. He could tell the wolf could sense it as well.

Shippo was growling, “Stay close and low. We have to get Rin, and then I will help you escape.”

Like Rin, Koga couldn’t save his family. It was just Shippo’s luck that Koga’s family decided to go into town; apparently, trying to barter for food. Damn you! Naraku, he snarled. The though infuriated him that these poor people where starving. Since it was forbidden to hunt on the Lord’s land, unless granted permission.
Shippo remembered many nights that he risked going out into the forest and coming back with a nice sized kill. It was the least he could do.

The more he thought about Naraku the more he slinked into a feeling of vengeance. Coming around the bend, he looked down the narrow dirt pathways. The guards were at least a half a mile downwind. Grabbing Koga’s arm he made a mad dash towards Rin’s house.

Rin was sitting on a partially broken stool; it wobbled, due to a crack in the stubby wooden leg. She leaned forward, rubbing a wet cloth over her father’s brow. Her mother passed, less than a month ago. Now, she sat crying, that her father wouldn’t be well enough for the journey. “Father, please wake up?” She tried, to rouse him, but seemed effortless.

The door suddenly flew open, as she quickly stood up. Her hand shot up to her chest. She prayed it was not the Guards, “Who goes there?” She demanded in a harsh tone. Shippo where are you? She thought hoping it was him. However, the silence ensued, the room, terrifying her even more. Picking up the stool, she hid behind the small room door, raising the stool above her head preparing her attack.

“Rin,” Shippo called out.

Rin took a deep breath, and lowered the weapon, placing it back where she was sitting a moment ago. “In here,” she responded. Thankful that it wasn’t anyone dangerous, she sat back down and began stroking her father’s unusually cold hands.

Realization set in, her father was gone. No! She shook her head, from the denial she was feeling, as the tears now freely fell from her body. “Father…please, wake up!” she shook him violently—still no response.

Shippo walked into the room quickly. He was making sure that there was no potential danger outside. He could smell and hear her sorrowful cries and ran to her. “Rin-” He said, confused. He frowned when he realized that the scent of death was in the air. “Oh, Rin…I’m so sorry.” He approached her, and pulled her to his body, tightly and securely.

Koga ran into the house, his sapphire blue eyes, searching, “Shippo! Their scent is getting closer!”

Shippo growled, “Rin, there is nothing more we can do. He went peacefully; nobody is going to hurt him anymore. We must go!” He tried to be as reassuring, without sounding too disdainful, after all her father just passed. Grabbing Rin’s wrist, he pulled her up, his eyes pleading for her to hurry.

Rin nodded, and followed behind quickly. She looked back, “Goodbye father…I’ll miss you.” Wiping the tears away, she ran after Shippo.

Shipp could tell that they were both tiring and falling behind. They were both malnourished. “Shit!” he cursed loudly he needed to think. His eyes lit up, with the sudden answer. Closing his eyes, he concentrated on his fox magic. He could feel himself transforming, as the tingling sensation sent shivers through his body.

Rin and Koga stood their stunned, as they just watched their friend turn into a large reddish-brown horse…and it spoke. “Well are you two going to stand around idly, or are you going to jump on.”

Koga smiled at Rin, as he scooped her up, “ladies first.” He hoisted her in the front as he sat behind her.

Rin grabbed on to his auburn mane tightly as they rode off through the surrounding fields. It was hard carrying the double weight as he strove himself on feeling his energy drain. He would transform as soon as they were a good distance away from the small palace, and walk. He just needed to reach the borders.

Inuyasha watched Kagome walk away from him, “Now just wait a minute…we don’t have time to be picking flowers!”

“And why not?” She said bending down to grab a large Lilly.

Inuyasha gulped when she bent over, and he could see some of her round breasts. He looked away, quickly with a slight blush. He growled slightly embarrassed that he was blushing, it wasn’t like he’d never seen breasts before—okay he’s never seen Kagome’s? What was she doing to him. “I said so, that’s why?”

“…okay,” She smiled, and then continued on picking lilies and small purple foxglove flowers. “Thank you.”

“Whatever, just hurry up!” because I don’t know how much longer, before I want to feel your lips against mine, that’s why! Is what he wanted to say?

The more he watched her the more he became infatuated with her. The curves where bending all the right ways, and he couldn’t help but sit back and watch with a smug hungry look on his face. The smell was calming, and the ambiance was perfect.

He stood up suddenly, his glance filled with hunger and lust as he approached Kagome who had her back turned on him showing off her ample rear.

Kagome was pleased with all the lilies she found, their vibrant pink blended with yellows, and whites, would be perfect with the purple foxtrot she had found. Her bouquet done, she didn’t expect Inuyasha standing behind her when she turned around.

Inuyasha was thankful that his father let him go alone. He took in her radiance as he relished in her fragrance. His rich golden orbs stared deeply into her hazel eyes once again. He couldn’t resist, “Kagome you’re beautiful.” He said lustfully as his lips gently but passionately met hers.

Kagome taken back returned the kiss fervently, as her mind protested. Dropping the flowers her hands, she wrapped around his neck deepening the passion. What was she doing? Damn! Why in the hell did he have to be so gorgeous? Can I stop? So many thoughts were swimming through her head.

The feeling was intense, and she was beginning to get dizzy with lust. Her legs felt weak. She could feel his hand rub her neck, and his claws gently scrape down her chest. His lips disappeared from hers as he slowly nibbled and kissed down her cheek towards her neck. She had to stop! The feeling of not being able to stop halted her movements. Tears streamed in her eyes, as she felt the frustrated protests of her body.

Through heavy pants she’d found her voice. “Stop, please…stop!” She knew she sounded weak, and was sure that he noticed her not so convincing pleas.

He smiled around her neck, as his nose rubbed up against her pulse alongside her neck. She was nervous, but excited as well. “Are you sure…?” he said, huskily breathing warmly around her neckline.

Shivers ran up and down her spine. She wasn’t ready to go all the way with him. She barely knew him. Lust was running, like a plague inside her head, but again she had to fight her urges. Taking a deep breath, she regrettably pulled away from him, “Yes, I’m sure.” She said solemnly wiping the stilled tears away.

She could see the dejection in his eyes, but he respected her wishes. Picking up the flowers, she rearranged them, hoping to distract her flustered mind. God, why do his kisses have to be so addicting? She thought as her finger traced her swollen lips.

Inuyasha grabbed her hand gently, “I’m a patient man Kagome…next time you will come to me?” with that said, he grabbed her arm and walked back over to the awaiting horses.

Kagome smiled, feeling her sassiness rear up again, “And you’re arrogant, sire.”

He smirked, and gave her a grin. “You’ll see!” He said as he approached his horse.

“You can ride with me this time. Well come back for the mare later.” Inuyasha grabbed the dapples reins and took off the bridle. “She’s loyal, and this is good grazing land. If not she knows her way home.”

Kagome didn’t have time to respond as she was hoisted up, Inuyasha securely behind her. She gasped as he leaned his arm around her waist securely, as his free hand grabbed onto the reins. Kicking the horses’ side, they sprinted up the hill and towards Kaede’s house.

Shippo made it further than he anticipated. He was close to the Western lands borders. He stopped suddenly, his demon energy drained. His legs felt weak, as he suddenly kneeled down, allowing his passengers off.

“Shippo,” Rin said with concern, as she slid off his back, running towards his neck. “Why did you over do it?” she scolded.

Koga looked down alarmed as well, “Fox…what are you trying to do? Kill yourself.” He grabbed his beige pants, angrily. “Change back; I’ll go grab some food.”

“No…Koga, don’t leave.” Shippo said closing his eyes and suddenly transformed feeling a slight weight from Rin on his back. “I’m okay Rin, there’s no need to worry…I just overdid it.” He felt the weight lift, and slowly sat up. “Koga, we cannot start a fire. You two aren’t out of the woods yet…so to speak.”

Rin looked at him with concern eyes, “What about You? What will happen to you…can’t you come with us?”

Oh how he wanted to say yes he would go. Unfortunately, he couldn’t, that bastard Naraku would hunt him down—his friends wouldn’t be safe with him around.

It was out of the question, and Shippo knew it, as soon as Naraku finds out about his betrayal he would first lock him in the dungeon, then go and personally see to it that his friends would be butchered in front of him; he himself would soon follow in their deaths.

“No Rin, I’m sorry to say that I cannot.” He looked up at Koga “You my friend are going have to look after Rin. Make sure you stay on the path, don’t stop until you reached the borders. There should be a house with an elderly lady...” he took a breath, “tell her I sent you. She’ll know what to do.”

Shippo scooted up against a tree, closing his eyes. He was tired and just needed to take a nap to regain his strength.

“How will I know, where to look? Who is this lady?”

Shippo opened his eyes, Rin kneeling down concerned, he smiled her beauty, and purity amazed him. Reaching up he rubbed his finger gently along her cheek, “Promise me Rin…don’t forget me!”

“How could I ever.” she smiled as she kissed his cheek, “Shippo you are my best friend…I just want to know that you will be safe. Promise me that you won’t do anything else stupid that would cost you your life.”

He smiled warmly at her; afraid this was the last time he was ever going to see her again. “I promise. Now please go…” He turned to Koga, “you’ll know when you come along a small creek…, and her name is Kaede. Now go!”

Shippo smiled as he watched Koga lift the girl and run as fast as he could. He didn’t hear anyone around, as he finally let sleep take over his exhausted body.
