Belonging To No One
Chapter Ten
Sango woke up to find Kagome sitting next to her staring at the floor. "How long have I been out?"
"Sango?" She closed the distance between them and threw her arms around her. "Don't ever do that again. You scared the shit out of me. What were you thinking?"
"Saving your life, what happened?" She tried to sit up with the girl still latched on.
"Whatever it was came for both of us. I had to erect a barrier to keep us from being absorbed." Kagome let her go but remained sitting beside her. "Actually, we were found because of Yusuke." She told Sango about no one else being able to sense them and how being mated had helped the boy find her.
"Then I guess it's a good thing. I could use some fresh air, wanna go outside with me? And you can tell me whats up with the huge blush." She got out of bed and put on the clothes waiting. She was a little wobbly at first, Kagome was right beside her.
Both walked out into the hall making their way outside. No one was inside, yelling was heard. Sango was the first to walk outside. Everyone was there watching the scene taking place. Yusuke was being yelled at by Keiko. His face was red, she had her hands fisted at her sides.
Kagome knew what the problem was, Yusuke was waiting on her answer. He'd said he wanted her now and didn't want to lose her. It had been a complete shock to her, she hadn't known that he thought of her as anything more than a friend. He must have told Keiko about it and now she was pissed.
Yusuke heard Keiko's intake of breath as she paused in her screaming at him. Her head turned towards the house. He looked to see Kagome watching them with a stunned look on her face. His now ex-girlfriend left him to march over towards the miko. "I wouldn't do that Keiko. Leave her alone." He knew this couldn't turn out well.
Kagome watched the girl storm over not sure what to do. She could understand that the girl probably felt she'd stolen her man from her. The look of accusation said enough. Kagome watched her get in range and raise her hand.
The hand was caught in midswing, the other hand tried for it. Keiko gasped when both her hands were caught. The grip was tight and she whimpered in pain.
Sango held the girl's wrists making sure she got the message. "I don't care what happened between any of you three. But don't think I'll stand here and let you hit her. I suggest you take your anger out on him. Kagome might be too soft-hearted to hit you back. Let me assure you, I have no problem kicking your ass." She shoved her back putting distance between them. Kagome hadn't retaliated against Kikyo because of her love for Inuyasha. Sango knew she would do the same here and she wouldn't allow it. "That goes for any of you. Hurt her again and I'll kill you." Her eyes landed on Yusuke and Hiei, they all just stared at her.
Keiko stumbled back, her anger far from appeased. The threat issued went over her head as her eyes landed on Kagome who was looking at Yusuke. She ran for the girl staring at her man.
Sango saw her coming, oh well. The girl tried to run past her to get to Kagome. Sango grabbed her by the scalp and planted a knee in her stomach. It worked, the girl went down at her friend's feet.
Kagome bent down, "Did you have to hit her so hard? Are you okay?"
"She was warned, she'll be fine." Sango grabbed Kagome's hand pulling her away from the girl. "Get up before she tries to claw your eyes out. Leave her alone, she'll be up in a minute."
"You sure?" Kagome let her friend lead her away, her eyes stayed on the girl starting to get up. Her eyes widened when Keiko got up and looked right at her. "Okay, she's fine."
Kuwabara grabbed ahold of Keiko as she started going towards them once more. "I'd stop if I was you. Go beat on Yurameshi, you aren't getting to the girl." She struggled in his arms when Yusuke walked over to Kagome.
Kagome blushed when his hand landed on her shoulder. He looked worried as he looked her over, "I'm fine. I might be wrong but I think you are pissing her off."
Yusuke looked up to see Keiko thrashing in Kuwabara's arms with rage in her eyes. His first instinct had been to check on his mate. Kagome watched as he walked over towards the enraged girl and began to speak to her. "Look Keiko, I'm sorry that I hurt you. But I love her."
Kagome felt her jaw hit the ground and her eyes widened at the declaration. She heard Sango groan beside her.
"Oh my god. Kagome what the hell do you do to these men? I swear it's deja vu all over again. Yep." Sango felt the anger coming off the little man to her right. Maybe Kagome could let her know the secret. She had two men wanting her once again, while Sango couldn't manage to get even one to declare any feelings.
"Ah yes, another bold declaration of love." Miroku smirked from the side lines. He watched Sango's shoulders slump and Kagome's face turn five shades of red.
Sango let go of Kagome's hand and began to walk off. She really needed some fresh air and time alone. Yelling was heard as Keiko digested that last piece of information. Sango watched as Miroku started to follow her so she stopped to let him catch up. "Hey. Kind of reminds you of Kouga doesn't it."
"Yes. So how are you doing my wife?"
"Spare me will ya."
"Sorry, was trying to cheer you up. I see it isn't working." He sat down beside her as she took a seat in the grass.
"No it's not. I'd like to know Kagome's secret. How does she get these men to fall for her? Must be the kind heart and the innocent nature." Sango felt the tear roll down her cheek. "I'm happy for her though, if Hiei doesn't get his head out his ass then atleast she has Yusuke."
Miroku saw the tears and reached over putting his arm around her shoulder. He pulled her against him trying to comfort her, she leaned on his shoulder. "I'm waiting for the insults to start flying. A 'dogshit' here, a 'wimpy wolf' here."
"At least it wasn't a 'I'm in love with you Kagome.' Or 'Once she's had a real man she'll never want scraps again.'" Sango laughed at the memory.
"Did he really say that?"
"I think so. Inuyasha probably wouldn't have known which hole to stick it in and Kouga probably would have prefered the other."
"My dear Sango such naughty words coming from your mouth. You know you can still have me." His hand suddenly dropped down her back to land on her ass.
Her face flushed under the contact, she should have known better. She gasped when she felt herself being jerked off the ground into a pair of arms. Miroku's cry of pain filled the air as he was picked up and thrown several feet back. Sango was suprised to see that it was Kurama in his youkai form. "Stop, don't hurt him."
Miroku knew he'd be bruised later. He watched the fox walk over to stand in front him. Him and his roaming hand but the opportunity had been too good to let pass.
"Touch what belongs to me again and you will find yourself missing an arm to go with that eye." The threat hung in the air.
"And you have the nerve to ask me what the hell I do." Kagome yelled at her from across the yard.
Youko turned around to see the girl he'd just put a claim on in the arms of his friend. "That goes for you also, get your hands off or I'll remove them."
"You can try." Kuronue tightened his hold on her. The fox had been back for over a week and hadn't even taken it upon himself to speak to the girl. He had stopped pursuing her when his friend got back out of respect. He knew she was in love with the other man but he'd seen that she cared for him also. She was also responsive to his touch, she desired him as well. Kurama didn't deserve her and he wanted her. "I don't think she belongs to you."
"Are you challenging me?"
"There is no need, she is mine already. But if you insist on saying she's yours then yes. I want her, I will not deny it." Kuronue watched the rage fill his partner's eyes.
Sango saw red flash before her eyes, that was it. How dare they! She brought her fist up landing it into his jaw, he dropped her. She landed on her feet and took a few steps back glaring at both men. "I can't believe you two." Her voice filled the air, anger in every word. She turned to Kurama first, "First of all you left me without a word, no explanation. You walked out of my life showing me exactly how much I meant to you. You've been back for over a week and I haven't even gotten so much as a hello from you. You don't give a shit about me, you don't even care. You don't want me you just don't want any other man to have me."
Her gaze turned to Kuronue, "And you are no better. Worried someone else might get to tap it before you do. You let me know how much I meant to you when you acted like I no longer existed when it became obvious you weren't going to get any."
Now she spoke to both, "I am not a piece of meat for you two to snarl over. I belong to no one, fight all you want but it will be in vain. The only thing it will do is make me dislike you more. Only you two would be stupid enough to fight over someone you don't really want. I'm sick of it, all of it. I don't want either of you to ever come near me again." She turned and stormed off leaving them gawking at her back.
Kagome was shocked at her speech but still ran off to follow her knowing she'd need someone to cry on. She opened the door as soon as Sango closed it and went inside. She comforted the girl as the tears came.
