The Wedding

Yay, the wedding. I love weddings, as long as it isn't mine!!!!!

Chapter Nine

Sango stood beside Kagome near the last row of chairs. Early this morning, people had arrived to finish preparing for the wedding. It had been rushed but everything was beautiful. The girls and Souta had been forced to help out since Keiko's mother had paid to use the shrine. Grandpa had smacked Souta in the back of the head at his comment about having better things to do. Sango had to silently agree with the boy. She felt like going in the room and crying. She knew she liked Yusuke and now she had to watch as he got married to another girl. Maybe she was cursed to be alone. They had even been forced to dress up. Mrs. Higurashi had went out and bought them all matching black dress pants and a white silk dress shirt. Sango's feet hurt from the so called flats placed upon her feet. She'd be nursing blisters later. Her hair had been fixed by Kagome. It was braided and placed ontop her head in a bun. Guess no one wanted hair in their food since they'd been charged with the catering as well. The food had been pre-ordered but it was their job to see it placed out for the reception.

Sango stayed away from everyone not wanting to see Yusuke all dressed up to marry. White roses were placed everywhere, along the walkway where Keiko would stroll down to meet her husband to be, to the chairs. A lot of money and thought had been put into the wedding. When she overheard a couple talking everything became clear. They had been best friends growing up and had been together for over four years. The relationship was obvious a strong one, something she would never want to interfere with. It wasn't right for her to want him. She brushed her feelings aside and set out to appear busy to appease the old man.

An hour later, only the guests and the wedding party remained. Gramps had assured the delivery people he'd see to the rest and to come pick everything up in the morning. He was surely thinking about his new storage shed. There wasn't that many guests really. Sango saw a couple speaking to a middle aged woman. Her guess it was Keiko's parents and Yusuke's mother. There was only one other girl that appeared human that Sango had never seen before. The rest of the guests appeared to be demons. The friend's from the carnival was there also. Most of the demons hid whatever distinct feature that would have given them away. She'd seen a particular red head pull off his hat long enough to reveal a small horn and pointy ears. The rest of the demons appeared human enough to fit in.

Kagome came up to her to announce that it was about to start. People were going to find their seats. Sango followed her to stand outside to watch it take place. A part of her wanted to object to it taking place but she had no claim on him. So he had kissed her, it hadn't mattered. If it did he wouldn't be standing up there now. Surely he had kissed Keiko many a time. Her eyes landed on him, he was stunning in his tux. His hair wasn't slick back today but some of it fell forward giving him a boyish look. She and Kagome leaned against the dojo to watch everything. The further away she was the better.

After several moments, Yusuke was standing beside the preacher, with Kuwabara at his side. The music began and everyone became silent. Keiko exited the house, she was beautiful even Sango had to admit. Her white dress had been made especially for her. The top was firm fitting, the sleeves long made of lace. The bottom was unlike any dress Sango had seen. It only reached the knees in front but lengthened in the back to trail behind the girl acting as her train. Her vale covered her face, made from a crown.
Sango envied the girl, everything looked so perfect.

Within a minute the girl was standing beside Yusuke and the preacher began the ceremony. He turned to Yusuke first to have him repeat his vows, which he did. Then it was Keiko's turn. She repeated them also. When the preacher asked if anyone objected Sango's heart cried out but her voice remained silent. When no one spoke he continued, "May we please have the rings."

Kuwabara dug in his pockets pulling out some lint with the rings. "Here." A grin split his ugly face.

Everyone stared in awe at the couple. The preacher continued, "Keiko do you take Yusuke to be your lawful wedded husband, in sickness and in health till death do you part? (Sorry all that shit is to much to write)

"I do."

"And do you Yusuke take Keiko..." A groan passed his lips as blood splattered forward covering the bride and groom.

Everyone screamed as something silver was seen sticking out the preacher. He fell to his knees before anyone could react.

"I object to this union." A voice rang through the crowd.

(Yay, Sango killed the preacher. What a way to stop a wedding. I should leave a cliffy but I won't. HEHE)

Yusuke looked up to see a demon floating in the air only twenty feet away from him. The demon had long grey hair, atleast six feet tall. He had horns on his forehead, he smiled revealing sharp teeth filling his mouth. Behind him were several dozen demons. Lesser demons but they were a threat none the less.

"What do you think you're doing asshole?" Yusuke yelled. He was beyond pissed, besides the fact the wedding had been interrupted. That filthy demon had just killed a holy man.

"It's simple, Yusuke Yurameshi. I have been sent to kill you. I'm so sorry that it came at a bad time but orders are orders. You see I was told to wait until you and all your friends were together. This was a perfect opportunity to get rid of all of you at once." He smirked as all the demons stood up preparing to battle. The few humans he could see tried to hide.

"Heh, what makes you think you have it takes to defeat me?" Yusuke was itching to kill him already. Keiko was standing behind him for protection. "I hope you are ready to die." Yusuke prepared to kill the cocky bastard with one shot when his body suddenly stopped on its own. "What the fuck?"

Kurama's shout caused him to turn around. It looked like all his friends were unable to move. "Yusuke, none of us can move."

"Of course you can't." The demon laughed at them. His voice was filled with glee at how easy it was going to be to kill them all. "Any one with the tiniest amount of demon blood will not be able to lift a finger unless I want them too."

Kuwabara stepped forward being the only one to fight. "You're forgetting about something, cheater." He unsheathed his spirit sword.

"Oh, right please excuse my lapse of memory. You are that pathetic human are you not." The demon sent the boy flying through the air at a wave of his clawed hand. "Now that hes out the way its time to have some fun. I think I'll kill those humans first while you watch Yurameshi."

"Kuwabara," Yusuke yelled as his best friend was propelled in the air like he was nothing more than a fly. The taunt reached his ears. The demon was looking at Keiko. "Don't you fucking touch her."

"Don't worry detective, I will never lay a finger on her but my friends will enjoy tearing her apart."

"YUSUKE!" Keiko screamed when a handful of demons charged towards them.

"Hiraikotsu," The yell penetrated the air. A large object flew through the air, severing the demons that had almost been upon the couple. Everyone turned in time to Sango catch it on it's return trip. A demon ran towards claws unsheathed. "I don't think so." She ran forward bringing it down in time to tear its head off. "Kagome!"

The young miko ran forward, "I'm on it." Kagome notched an arrow aiming towards a large mass of the demons in the air still.

The head demon smirked. "What do you think you can do with that silly arrow girl?"

"Watch and learn stupid." The arrow soared through the air. Leaving a trail of light in its wake. The demons screamed seconds before they turned to ash. Kagome notched another arrow and Sango released Hiraikotsu to stop a group of demons descending on the helpless guests.

"Impossible, the line of the exterminators was ended over five centuries ago. How do you still live girl?" He shot an angry look towards Sango.

Kagome ran up to stand beside her friend. "How is he keeping everyone immobile?" Kagome turned to see Kurama and the other trying to move to no avail. "More demons keep showing, we can't defeat them all."

Sango looked at the ring-leader, then she spotted the amulet on his neck. The jewel placed in the middle was black, the depths were swirling. It had to be casting some kind of spell. "His necklace, we gotta destroy it. If I keep him distracted long enough can you hit him there?"

"I can try, please be careful." Kagome didn't want to see the girl hurt but knew she'd rush into battle regardless.

Yusuke couldn't hear what was being said they were too far away and speaking in a whisper. He saw the girl rush forward planning on taking on the demons alone. "What the fuck are you doing. Stay back!" She paid him no heed as she rushed forward, most likely to her death.

Sango heard him but continued on. She was an exterminator, she wouldn't fall that easy. They all rushed her at once, planning on destroying the remaining youkai exterminator. She stopped in midstride to release her huge weapon into the main pack. As soon as it was released she leapt forward striking out at the leader. He dodged in time to keep his head. "You bitch, you will die." He tried to hit her with an energy blast but missed sorely.

She caught Hiraikotsu as it returned and smirked. "Youkai in this era are slow. It will take a much stronger one than you to bring me down." He tried to strike her with his claws as the others closed in around her.

Kagome released an arrow clearing them instantly. "I don't suggest you try that again." Kagome notched another arrow, prepared to fire when she got the chance.

He sneered in Sango's face. "Your friend can't keep saving you forever."

"What makes you think I need her help?" She brought her fist forward, landing it across his jaw. The impact sent him flying back to land several feet away.

He got back on his feet, he cursed his luck. The amulet only worked on demons yet somehow a miko and the only surviving exterminator had managed to be present. Seperate he might be able to win but together they were a force to be reckoned with. He'd have to go back and inform his master of this new development. Without another word he disappeared in a red cloud of smoke.

Sango stared in shock at his sudden departure. He'd ran! A sigh escaped her lips, she sheathed her sword and placed her weapon across her back. Kagome ran up to her. "Did he really chicken out?"

"Looks like that. I'm sure he'll be back. He didn't complete his mission."

"Not to mention you pissed him off." Kagome smiled. The training had paid off immensely in her opinion, her and Sango worked even better together than before.

All the demons were released from the spell seconds later. Mrs. Higurashi ran to both girls, pulling them both into her embrace. "Are you two okay. What were you thinking jumping into the fight like that?"

"Mom, its not like we haven't done it before. Besides what else could we have done?" Kagome pulled away from the woman. "Lets not forget he came uninvited to our home killing an innocent person. The bastard is lucky he turned tail and ran when he did."

"Kagome watch your mouth." She was just glad both girls were safe.

Please read and review. Sorry I just couldn't let them get married.
