Return to the Past

A/N: I feel like crap for taking so long, but I got stuck and very busy with a four year old and 7 month old, so please forgive me. Here is the complete chapter. There is a LEMON so I hope you enjoy...

They remained in her time a few days to be safe and to allow Kagome to get settled back into a normal sleeping and eating schedule. Her mother asked that they return in two weeks so Kagome could resume her doctor’s appointments, and InuYasha to everyone’s surprise readily agreed.

Kagome’s mother packed her bag with the ususal supplies including ramen, only not as much as usual to make room for healthier food stuffs, as well as a thermos full of Kagome’s tea which was supposed to keep for seven days. InuYasha had long since abandoned any pretenses when it came to helping Kagome and so it was he that took the full bag from her mother and shouldered it.

In the well house the hanyou wrapped his arms around his miko mate and kissed her before jumping them both into the well.

They entered the village and were met a speeding ball of fur set on a collision course for Kagome. InuYasha reached out and caught Shippou by the tail, just before impacts and gave him a single harsh shake.

“Oi runt, no jumping on Kagome.” InuYasha told the kit and then place him in his mate’s waiting arms.

Shippou frowned at the hanyou. “Kagome tell him not to be mean to me.”

Kagome smiled a little an patted the boy’s head. She actually thought InuYasha handled that much better than he would have in the past. “I’m sorry Shippou, but InuYasha is right. I know you’re excited to see me, but you can’t jump on me like that anymore. Later you could hurt me or the babies, so it’s better you get used to it now, but don’t worry because I’ll still be able to hug and cuddle you even if I stop being able to carry you.”

Shippou jumped out of her arms. “It’ s not fair. InuYasha ruins everything. First he used to make you go away and now all you do is spend time with him and he even made you sick. Now you’re going to have his babies and then you’ll have even less time for me. I hate him.”

“Shippou.” Kagome called after the fleeing kit. She turned to InuYasha and though his face was impassive she could tell that he was upset by what Shippou had said.

“You want me to bring him back?” InuYasha asked. “He already hates me, so it might as well be me that he’s mad at and not you.”

Kagome briefly touched InuYasha’s cheek to get him to look at her, before letting her hand drop. “He doesn’t hate you. He’s a little boy who is worried about where he’s going to fit in after our babies are born. He doesn’t fully understand everything that’s happened and since you and he have always fought, he took his frustration out on the most familiar target.”

“Could of fooled me.” InuYasha said folding his arms.

Kagome smiled. “You know, it might help him see that he’ll still have a place with us if you started teaching him to hunt.”

“That’s his father’s job.” InuYasha told her. “He ain’t going to want to learn that from me.”

“I think you might be surprised. I mean who else is he going to learn from if not from you. Consider it practice for when our babies come.” Kagome informed him. “If you’re willing, then I’ll ask him and see what he says. If he says no I won’t bother you about it again.”

“Keh, go ahead, but he ain’t going to want to do it.” InuYasha snorted.

InuYasha took Kagome close to where Shippou had run off to and settled himself into a nearby tree to keep an eye on his mate as she talked to the young fox youkai. He watched her kneel down beside the crying boy and take him into her arms. He couldn’t help but think that she was going to be an amazing mother to their pups.

“Shippou, I understand why you’re upset. I know it’s not the same but when I was about your age and my mother told me that I was going to have a baby brother, I was worried that maybe my mother and father wouldn’t love me as much of have as much time for me as well.” Kagome said gently. “But I was wrong. You see Shippou when a family grows there isn’t less love to go around but more.”

“But I’m not part of a family.” The kit snapped.

“Do you really feel that way?” Kagome asked.

“I... I don’t know. Sometimes...” Shippou replied.

Kagome hugged him. “Well it’s not true, because I consider you a part of my family. You and Sango and Miroku, even Kaede and Kirara are as much a part of my family as my mother , Souta and jii-chan. A family is a group of people who love each other and take care of each other. Most of the time those people are related to you, but they don’t have to be. Take InuYasha for example. Sesshomaru might be his brother, but we’re his family, his real family.”

“InuYasha hates me.” Shippou told her.

“InuYasha doesn’t hate you.” Kagome assured him. “If he hated you would he have agreed to start teaching you to hunt?”

Shippou looked up at her with wide eyes. “He did...” Kagome nodded. “Really?”

“I know you and InuYasha fight a lot but it’s only because in some ways you’re a lot alike.” Kagome said. “You both lost your parents at a young age, and if he’s hard on you it’s because he wants to make sure that you’re strong enough to make it on your own, like he had to. So would you like him to teach you?”

Shippou nodded.

InuYasha resigned himself to the fact that more often than not he was going to be wrong and Kagome was going to be right. He looked at the young fox youkai crouched down beside him. He hadn’t actually believed the runt would want to learn anything from him, but the kid was actually listening and not talking back.

Shippou looked to InuYasha who gave a slight nod and then jumped out at his prey. He caught the rabbit easily enough and quickly dispatched it just as the adult hanyou had shown him. He looked at the blood on his claws and the dead animal in his hands and felt guilty. He had never actually killed anything before.

InuYasha sensed the fox youkai’s distress. “It was hard for me too. My first kill. ‘Course I hadn’t had nothing to eat in almost a fortnight and it was coming up on my human night so I didn’t have any other choice unless I wanted to starve to death, but I still felt bad that I had killed something that never did nothing to me.”

“You did?” Shippou asked.

InuYasha nodded. “I killed youkai before that, but it was different. It gets easier, and maybe that ain’t the way it should be, but it’s life. We gotta eat to live and it ain’t like killing just for the sake of killing. Understand?”

Shippou nodded. He vaguely remembered his own father saying something very similar once after returning from hunting food for him and his mother. “Now what?”

“Now we get it ready for cooking and then take it back to Kagome.” InuYasha replied. “I’ll do it this time so you can watch.”

Kagome smiled as Shippou and InuYasha approached with three rabbits prepared for cooking. She took the meat and began to prepare it. As it was one would be cooked fully for Sango, Miroku and Kaede and the other two would be left less well done for herself, InuYasha, Shippou and Kirara. The youkai and part youkai preferred their meat undercooked, and had up to this point simply been catering to their human companions, but now that Kagome actually required her meat a little under done they no longer needed to.

“Well?” Kagome prompted.

“The runt did good.” InuYasha offered. “He caught one all by himself.”

“That’s great Shippou.” Kagome praised.

“Yeah.” The kitsune said quietly.

Kagome looked to InuYasha, not at all understanding what was bothering the boy. Her mate shook his head signaling that now was not the time to talk about it, so she let it go temporarily to focus on cooking.

Later that night once the other’s were sleeping InuYasha rose and offered Kagome his hand. She took it and silently came to her feet. They left the elderly miko’s hut and headed off in the direction of the Goshinboku and the well.

“What was wrong with Shippou earlier?” Kagome asked once they were away from the village.

“It ain’t nothing to worry about. It was his first kill and he didn’t know how to feel about it.” InuYasha replied. “He’ll probably be over it by morning.”

“Oh, I never thought of that.” Kagome offered.

“I talked to him about it.” InuYasha told her. “Trust me okay. He’ll be fine.”

Kagome nodded and let him take her into his arms as they arrived at base of the sacred tree. “I trust you and I’m proud of you. I know you’re going to be a really good father to our babies.”

InuYasha nuzzled her neck and she shuddered in his embrace. He nipped at her ear. “And you are going to be as good a mother as you are a mate.”

“And am I a good mate?” She breathed as he sucked on the skin behind her ear.

A soft growl escaped him. “I don’t know yet.”

Kagome slipped her hand down the front of his hakama and gripped him firmly. “Do you know now?” She questioned as she stroked him slowly.

“Yes... Ahh... Hell yes.” InuYasha groaned. “K’gome...”

His miko mate untied his hakama and slipped down onto her knees as they fell around his ankles. He braced his hands against the Goshinboku, claws digging into the rough bark as she took him deeply into her mouth. InuYasha looked down at her as she moved, sliding her lips and tongue along his length time and again.

Kagome delighted in her mate’s soft sounds of pleasure as she took him deeply into her mouth. She gripped his behind in both hands and encouraged him to thrust into her as she swirled her tongue along the underside of his length.

“I’m gonna...” InuYasha bit out. “Fuck...”

Kagome slowed and swallowed his release. As soon as he left her he went to his knees and took her face in his hands, kissing her gently. He urged her back onto the ground and untied her kimono. His eyes glowed as he took her in and she reached up to caress his cheek.

InuYasha would never get over the beauty of his Kagome. He trailed his clawed hand down from her cheek and between her breasts, pausing briefly at the slight swelling of her stomach. She rested her hand over his and he knew that he would never cease to be amazed that she was not only happy, but proud that she was the one carrying his children.

He brushed his lips across her stomach and placed three soft kissed there before moving on to nip at the vales of her hips. She was already moaning softly by the time he pressed his face against her core. With torturous laps of his tongue he teased her heated flesh, until she writhed above him, pleading for satisfaction.

“Onegai... InuYasha.” Kagome cried.

InuYasha slipped two fingers inside her and began to suck gently on the sensitive spot just above her opening. It was only a moment before she cried out her release. He crawled up her body as she panted lightly, body trembling from the force of her climax.

As soon as she looked at him he plunged into her causing her back to arch and his name to fall from her lips in a rasping exhalation, a benediction.

Both of them temporarily sated there was no need to rush toward completion. InuYasha moved in long tender thrusts, as she clung to him. There was time to simply enjoy the feeling of being one without urgency, but with no less passion or desire. Slowly they goaded each other toward release with whispered words of love punctuated by soft moans and low growls, that only served to increase their pleasure.

Kagome cried out as InuYasha sank his fangs into her neck, gripping him as she spilled himself into her. They remained joined as he lapped at the small wound. She rubbed his ears as they both recovered and patiently waited for round two to begin.

Suddenly InuYasha jumped to his feet hastily tying his hakama and grabbing his sword. “Of all the fucking times...” He growled.

Kagome sat up and pulled her kimono closed. At first she was puzzled by InuYasha’s actions, but then she felt the presence of a youkai. “InuYasha?”

“Stay right here.” He told her. “This won’t take long.”

InuYasha drew his glowing sword and drove it into the ground in front of her. Unlike in the past it remained transformed. He was going to shred this youkai with his bare hands for interrupting his time with Kagome. A youkai would have to be both stupid and suicidal to approach a couple involved in mating. InuYasha walked a short distance into the trees and waited.

The oni lumbered toward him grunting and every so often InuYasha could make out the words sacred jewel. He leapt into the air with a snarling growl and brought down his claws, severing one of his opponents arms. It roared and swung its remaining arm at InuYasha.

InuYasha dodged the blow easily and flipped back. The oni came at him again and when he lunged InuYasha jumped over his head and landed behind him.

“Sankontessou!” He cried, unleashing his attack.

InuYasha stepped over what remained of the dead youkai and headed back to Kagome. “We ain’t leaving this fucking village again until I finish our house.”

Kagome giggled.
