Chapter 10: Family reunion?


"Kagome..."

"Hold on."

"...Kagome..."

"Wait a second."

"......Kagome."

"I said in a minute Inuyasha!"

The hanyou grumbled to him self and sat down by the yellow changing table. Flattening his ears, he crossed his arms appearing like a small child who hadn't gotten his way. The miko scoffed giving a frown at the grown mans actions.

"Oh knock it off, I'll be done changing her in a second, then I'll make you breakfast."

Stopping after a moment when she said this Kagome dropped the diaper in hand and placed her hands on her hips.

"Hey! You can cook, why don’t you make something for US instead of me doing it all the time!?"

Inuyasha simply gave a 'keh' tapping his foot and replied,

"If you want burnt, stringy food then make me do it woman."

Rolling her eyes she heard her daughters squeal of laughter when hearing Inuyasha's 'Keh'. It seemed she had TWO children...not just Kimi. Turning to the little one, the young mother tweaked a fuzzy triangle shaped ear saying in a 'baby talking voice',

"Daddy's a big whiney puppy huh Kimi? He's just bein' a big grumpy o'l puppy dowg huh baby?"

Smiling when Kimi kicked her legs and tried talking back, Kagome kissed her head hearing the silver haired man stand next to them. Not looking at him on purpose, the raven haired woman continued.

"Yeah he is. Teach daddy a lesson, tell him to NOT be a stinky, mean puppy today, yeah you tell him."

With each word Kimi seemed to try and imitate her mother’s voice, gurgling and shifting her eyes to her father every once and a while, giving a huge gum filled grin. Oh, she knew what mommy was talking about.

"Oi! Don't be talkin' to her like that! She'll get confused!"

Kagome kissed her cheek again before pulling back and getting the diaper she'd dropped. She went on, as if he hadn't said a word.

"Kimi loves the big puppy dowg anyway huh baby? No matter if he's bein' an angry woofy puppy dowg huh!?"

With every little nickname said, it seemed Kimi laughed harder, kicking her legs and reached up for Inuyasha. The hanyou scowled at the raven haired woman, glancing to his daughters smiling face. Despite his attitude, he couldn't help but smile if only a little at the pups actions.

"KEH!"

Twitching his ears, Inuyasha kneeled next to the bubbly child keeping that frown. Deciding to play along with it, he growled low narrowing his eyes at his mate. Turning to his baby girl again, he gave a slight smirk letting his clawed finger go to her small hand. As Kimi's little fingers wrapped around his own he said in a confident, loud and proud voice,

"Oi, she knows her old man ain't none of those stupid names huh pup? Your Oyaji's a big, STRONG, courage filled, STRONG, handsome-"

Before he could continue with his rant of...well himself, the young woman cut in raising her hands high and smiling wide while exclaiming to her little girl,

"PUPPY!!!"

With Kagome's shout and Kimi's loud giggle like gurgles of agreement, Inuyasha flattened his ears and rolled his eyes. As the young mother finished diapering the infant, the hanyou 'fehed' sitting the baby up. Reaching for a light pink shirt that said, 'daddy's girl' he slipped it on her giving a smile of pride. That one seemed to be his favorite. Kagome watched grinning to herself. Even after Kimi was born, he tried acting like a big shot macho-man, yet moments like this proved to her that yes...he was just a big softy.

Picking her up, Inuyasha straightened the shirt walking past the miko to the kitchen. The young woman went to the cooking pot after straightening up their bed blinking stupidly as she saw her husband letting the small baby just...pull at his ears. Kimi put one in her mouth, giving a laugh when it flicked away. Bringing his head up enough to look her in the eyes, the hanyou touched her little ear gaining a 'blurrrr'. Kagome watched some more as they sat on the wood surfaced floor, just touching each other ears.

Unable to resist the question, the raven haired woman quirked a brow when pulling out some fresh eggs.

"What are you doing?"

Inuyasha continued doing what he was doing, letting the small infant touch his ears, then he'd touch hers.

"She's gotta know they're just like mine."

Kagome didn’t want to question his motives...for in many ways, he wanted Kimi to have everything he never did. Someone to relate to. Someone to smile with. Someone to love. Nodding after a moment, the young mother went back to cooking.

A crash was heard, making both parents jolt in surprise. Looking to the door, Kagome furrowed a brow, glancing to her mate. She was met by his growl of annoyance then the scream of two children.

"AUUNTTIEE KAGOMEEE!!!"

Aki rushed inside the hut, tripping over Inuyasha and landing right next to Kimi. With a 'humph' Kenji joined her, landing right on top of the irritated hanyou. From Kimi's point this was exciting. Clapping her little clawed hands together then shoving them in her mouth she smiled at the new pack members, twitching her ears in hello.

Kagome laughed out loud, holding her stomach and almost crying from the very sight. It was hilarious, to both mother and daughter...but sure not to daddy. Leaving his daughter on the floor, Inuyasha stood growling loud while grabbing both wolf cubs by their ankle, extending them in the air with his height.

"OI! Runts don't be just runnin' in here! Didn't your parents teach you ta knock first!?"

Aki grinned at her 'uncle' upside down, hugging his leg after a moment.

"BAKA YASHA!"

Kenji simply blinked at the ground then to the angry looking hanyou awaiting his fate. His sister did the speaking...which sometimes wasn't such a good thing, but he was the quiet follower...despite the fact HE was oldest. Sighing then grunting in defeat, the dog demon shook the redheaded little girl loose from his leg, setting them both down right again. Aki hopped over to Kagome, giving her a big hug and sniffing the pot she was now cooking in.

"Auntie! Are we making food!?"

Before she could even answer, Aki went to Kimi plopping down next to her.

"Kawaii Kimi!"

Giving her a kiss on the forehead, which almost tipped the little one over backwards, Aki smiled grabbing the baby's fat hands.

"Kimi's such a Kawaii baby!!"

Kenji went to the pot, not really caring about the baby...or Inuyasha...or Kagome. Smiling at Kouga's boy, Kagome stirred the eggs, cracking a couple more since it seemed they were going to have company for breakfast today.

"Are you guys hungry?"

Kenji simply shook his head and smiled quietly at the older woman, sitting patiently for it to finish. Inuyasha was nervous when the cubs would just...barge in, but when he heard Kouga bellow out their names he had to remember, they sure didn't know any better.

"Kenji-Aki! What did I tell you about breaking their door!?"

Ayame soon appeared giving a scowl at both wolf cubs.

"This is the third time this month you two!"

Kouga came around the corner sniffing the air noisily, seeming to forget he'd been angry.

"Hey I smell food."

Looking at the sitting Inuyasha he gave a slight nod greeting him...the only way they ever did greet each other.

"Dog turd."

"Flea bag."

"Kouga!"

"Inuyasha!"

Both mates frowned at their husbands rolling their eyes as their only retort came back.

"What?!"

"What?!"

The ookami sat next to the hanyou with indifference, acting as if this were which it pretty much was, the 'normal' way of being friends. Ayame went to Kagome's side after picking up Kimi and tweaking her ears, simply chatting about how big the little one was growing. They all looked up when Rin entered, her dirty bathing kimono the focusing point as they all went quiet. Giving a nervous smile, she cleared her throat, peering through the kitchen door.

"Hi...everyone."

Kagome furrowed her brow in worry, standing from her place and going to the chestnut haired teens side.

"Rin, what happened to you last night? Are you all right?"

The young woman waved her off giving a small blush.

"I'm fine Kagome...I just, um..."

When not coming up with a straight answer right away, Kagome shushed her moving her to the extra bedroom in the house. The miko knew something happened last night between the two companions and didn’t want to embarrass Rin so simply ushered her to the room so she could change quickly.

Handing her a fresh kimono, Kagome left her and said to come get breakfast after she was done. Rin opened the door fully intent on going to find Sesshomaru when a holler was heard then a huge crash. On the floor of the now crowded kitchen was Miroku, his eyes wide and his face charred black.

"FIREFIREFIREFIREFIRE!!"

The ex-houshi scrambled up from his spot, tripping over himself and pointing to his own home.

"FIRE!"

When everyone just stared stupidly for a moment he screamed at the top of his lungs,

"HELP ME!!"

Kouga and Inuyasha stood quickly flying out the door as did everyone else when Miroku hollered again, yelling for everyone in hearing distance to help. Rin soon came out finding her lord with his arms crossed and eyes closed. He seemed to be...unconcerned with the commotion, but as she looked to where everyone was rushing, you could see a billow of black smoke rising in the air. Gasping in fright the young woman hoped no one was hurt.

Villagers were everywhere, cluttered around the ex-houshi and exterminators house. A few people could be heard laughing, some women giggling while men smiled and shook their heads. Rin peeked over a few tall men's shoulders having to push her way to the front.

"I cant believe it. This early in the morning?"

"I guess so. Why in the world did he ROAST it?"

Listening to a few of these comments from random people, she made her way to the front where she saw Sango sitting on the bench, her son Keiko staring in the direction of the roasting(now burnt)pig. The taijya had a scowl on her face, her attention now on Kagome and Ayame. Walking up next to them, the young woman asked, putting her hand on the little boy’s head,

"What’s going on? Is everyone aright?"

Sango crossed her arms over her swollen belly, rolling her eyes at the young women.

"I said I wanted boar, but I didn’t say anything about it being roasted. I'm glad I told him to do it outside, or he would've burnt the whole hut down!"

Miroku was still in a panic, his hands full with water buckets and a look of terror on his face. When hearing her say this, he turned blinking stupidly.

"Yes you did! You...you said roasted pig-"

"NO I didn’t Miroku! YOU wanted roasted pig! I just wanted boar meat."

The pregnant woman scowled at her husband and his blackened face, his hair matted, risen and scorched from a flame that got the best of him. When the meat went up in flames again, Inuyasha growled to put it out before it DID do any damage. With a large splash, the burning hog was set out its remnant’s pitch black and smoky.

"What the hell made you want to roast a pig this early in the morning?"

Kouga asked quirking a brow and swishing his tail. Miroku slouched pointing in the direction of his wife.

"NO I DIDNT! I WANTED MEAT THATS ALL I SAID HOUSHI!"

She gave a 'humph' standing as if she were about to smack him over the head. Helping the tipsy woman to stand, Rin couldn’t help but give a slight giggle at the situation. Kagome sighed shaking her head.

"A woman’s cravings can be dangerous..."

She smiled and laughed when Ayame and herself remembered such events from their own pregnancies. Sango smiled despite her sour attitude, shaking her head and giving a sigh.

"Well I guess I have to make something to eat myself then."

"Koibito-"

His 'darling' was cut off by her dagger-like stare, making him swallow hard and stay in place. Inuyasha gave a smirk, giving a loud smack to his friend’s back.

"Looks like you better watch it or you won’t have a place to stay tonight."

The men of the village laughed at that, as they all dispersed, going back to their own homes. This little 'emergency' was nothing more then one of the antics of Miroku's household. Sighing in defeat, the ex-monk looked to his son who had that little stuffed bear, his small hand holding his pant leg, giving a laugh at his old mans appearance.

"Why don’t you all eat with us?"

Kagome offered with a smile to both her friends. Sango thought a moment shaking her head yes. Rin smiled and helped the very pregnant woman to the hut, her image of Sesshomaru doing that making her laugh out loud. Ayame questioned her, only receiving a 'nothing' in response.

After going back to the hut, they all ate...well, all except for Sesshomaru who was intent on staying outside under the cool shade of a jasmine tree. The idle chatter of the adults, either about children, or married life or even the next meal seemed to intrigue the sixteen-year-old who could only fantasize about such a wonderfully happy life with her lord.

The men finished first, saying they were all going to help finish what they'd started on Miroku's hut a week or so before. Inuyasha stretched watching as Kouga's cubs found a new fascination for AuUn who was grazing in the grass a few feet away from the stoic Sesshomaru. Jaken squawked about how 'not to get on him, or not to play with the reins' but as usual...no one listened to the little green imp.

By the low groaning bellow of the pack animal, and the way it bent its head down to greet the ookami cubs, it seemed he liked the company as well. Kenji waved from his place on the beast’s back, his little legs trying to adjust to the large saddle and to get comfortable an obvious obstacle. Raising a clawed hand, the hanyou could've laughed as he watched the small boy get pulled off in one swift motion by his younger sibling.

"...they grew."

He simply stated to his companion who only replied 'yours too' and swished his tail in response. Despite their competitive streak when it came to one another, Kouga and Inuyasha seemed to find a truce when it came to their families. In a way...they too were a family. Each had fought together, for each other, and had cared for one other and that was what brought them together in the end. This was true for the Taijya and ex-monk as well.

Miroku was off asking the village men if they would lend their hand in helping today as the hanyou and ookami awaited his return. A few moments of silence went by as a cool breeze blew, their forms standing outside the hanyous home with a look of indifference on each other’s face. Giving a slight grumble, Inuyasha tapped his foot and crossed his arms glancing to his brother who was sitting comfortably at the edge of the forest. It had been eating away him since this morning because well...last night he really hadn’t been that concerned.

With a 'feh' he tried to act casual and made his way to his brother’s side. The breeze blew again as Inuyasha leaned against a tree next to the one Sesshomaru was sitting against, the only sound echoing throughout the quiet field being Kouga's children laughing.

"...oi, you mate her or what?"

The taiyoukai could be seen visibly frowning as he looked off into the grassy plain looking at nothing in particular. A moment went by before Inuyasha gave a 'keh', his impatience and curiosity growing. Finally the dog demon spoke, his words flat, plain and simple.

"I will not mate like an animal little brother; unlike some who wish to take and mark their intended out in the forest...I will not."

Inuyasha stayed quiet for a moment, slightly pissed at the remark. He recalled...well, taking his own mate in that way. But with all things said, in his own defense it was in the heat of the moment, on a last mission, away from civilization in hunting Naraku. Scowling he grumbled out,

"Well you're courting her then...?"

Lifting his eyebrow, Sesshomaru coolly set his gaze on the silver haired hanyou.

"...And how, in any way would that concern you?"

The squeals, hollers, and giggles of Kenji, Aki, Keiko, and now Kimi made its way to their ears making the hanyou twitch them atop his head and give a keh. It seemed they had ALL found AuUn and Jaken now. Their new...playmates. Jakens loud squawk was heard yelling a 'NOOoooo', as the children undoubtedly were having their fun.

"So I know if there's gonna be another pup moron..."

That wasn’t the 'best' response per say, yet it was the least painful. He glanced at his brother before looking off to the children in the grassy, flowery field. Rin held Kimi, her smiling face beaming with joy as she watched the small children prance and gallop around the large beast and big mouthed imp. Tweaking a fuzzy triangle shaped ear, the young woman coddled the hanyou's baby, giving her kisses and laughing at the way she'd stick her chubby hands in her mouth while smiling.

Silence came after that statement, the taiyoukai either contemplating an answer or simply ignoring his brother all together. Guessing it was the latter, Inuyasha didn’t say anything more being surprised when Sesshomaru said after a long while,

"...yes."

Blinking stupidly for a moment, Inuyasha cleared his throat and gave a slight nod. He always considered the thought of Sesshomaru possessing a heart, yet never really confirmed it until that very moment. For years he had let the human girl tag along, and for that long had he thought maybe the 'cold demon lord' did have a slight sliver of love...but that one simple answer made the hanyou realize...yes. His brother was indeed like their father and himself.

Their gaze went to the topic of discussion when she looked at them, giving a huge smile and a wave. Inuyasha watched as his daughter tried imitating Rin's actions, her little clawed fingers curling then spreading out with each attempt. Moving from his place to them, for he saw Miroku making his way to Kouga, Inuyasha sighed saying as he left...

"She'll make a good mother."

The dog demon let his eyes follow his younger brother until he disappeared with the other two males, his only response mentally as his gaze shifted to Rin who was now approaching, 'Yes...she will.'

Rin shifted the wide-eyed Kimi so she sat on her lap as the young woman made herself comfortable next to the taiyoukai in the soft green grass. Kimi stuffed her hands in her mouth as her honey colored eyes went to a ladybug on Rin's kimono, her attention diverted for the time being.

"It's so nice today isn't it?"

She asked while turning her head to him with bright hazel eyes. They held such joy he couldn't even remember the way she looked last night...So sad, lost and most of all hurt. And to be truthfully honest, he never wanted to see such emotions again. Turning to her, he let his eyes go over her soft colored face, from her long black lashes to the rosy smile of her lips.

"Hai. It is."

Giving a laugh when the baby gurgled her consent and looked at each of them, Rin let her sit on the grass between them. Tweaking her small ear, the young woman commented cheerfully,

"She's probably the cutest baby I've ever seen."

Kimi sat on her bottom giving a smile at the young woman as well as the stoic demon lord as if knowing exactly what they were talking about, before going back to smelling and touching a kikyou flower a few inches away. Sesshomaru observed the little ones actions before looking at Rin for a moment and simply stating,

"Our pups will take that place after they are born."

Rin's eyes went wide as she shot her gaze to him, his own look sure and confident. A blush covered her cheeks after a few moments of realizing what he'd said, the thought making her insides flip. Having a family was...well, a dream come true. Especially with…him. But most of all the thought of baring his children...and the way those children or in his words 'pups' would be conceived made her grow more scarlet. The dog demon couldn't help but smirk when seeing her blush in such a way, knowing her thoughts inside out.

Kimi gave a high pitched squeal when seeing Rins face, clapping her small hands together as if agreeing. Trying to avoid his burning gold eyes, the young woman kept her own diverted to the infant who was giggling profusely. Unable to help himself, Sesshomaru asked after a moment,

"...something wrong?"

Shaking her head quickly, the hazel-eyed teen squeaked out quick, 'no'. The dog demon couldn’t help but smirk outright at that, having to know better from first hand encounters. Ever since she’d come to the age of seeing him as an attractive male, Rin had had various time periods through out certain types of situations when she became…a bit to excited. He could smell it on the cool wind or sometimes as she slept near him on those cold winter nights out of no where. See it on her flushed cheeks when looking at him to long, and simply make eye contact with her from afar, knowing exactly what she was pondering about…No. His Rin certainly wasn’t as innocent as she looked.

Sesshomaru’s nose twitched when picking up her sweet feminine musk, its scent alluring, almost mind numbing to him when letting his gaze linger on her for to long. The summer’s breeze blew across the field making it sway and leave waves like the very ocean in its wake, her scent floating along with it, as if it were a cherry blossom caught in its gentle updraft.

Of course he wasn’t in the position of saying he’d been so ‘innocent’ either. When catching these lovely moments, the taiyoukai had come to realize that young Rin HAD become a woman, did have an appearance…and that appearance was hard to ignore many times. Bathing being one of them. He’d made it perfectly clear that when they were out in the wilderness, he preferred to be quite close if any danger should rear it’s ugly head. Yet as these instances became more and more frequent, Sesshomaru had found his ‘protection’ to come with the sudden urge to…peek, at who had found him so arousing. And to be truthfully honest, it was from sheer selfishness. Scowling at the word ‘peek’ he rephrased it. ‘Accidentally glanced in her direction.’ Whatever it was, nothing about it was innocent.

The great lord of the west had found himself becoming…excited all the same. Just as she would him, Sesshomaru would find himself thinking about her. From imagining their children if it should ever occur, to what her blissful features would acquire when making her writhe in pleasure beneath him. Many time’s he scolded himself for such thoughts, the slight erection a reminder of what his ‘inner hentai’ brought forth.

Kimi shoved the now bent and drooled over kikyou flower to her nose, the light scent preventing her from catching Rin’s own little ‘problem’ for the time being. Gold eyes glanced to the small pup and decided against continuing on with the conversation…for now anyway.

Aki screamed with glee as a form came from the trail heading for Inuyasha’s home, it’s tall stature waving from a distance. Both looked and spotted red hair, a fur vest and green clothing finally coming to a conclusion as to who it was when Aki screamed out,

“SHIPPO!”

All three children bolted in the direction of their ‘adult playmate’, Aki and Kenji racing as Miroku and Sango’s little boy Keiko scurried after as fast as he could without falling. Rin observed them giving a giggle when even Kimi twitched her ears and gurgled in delight when watching her older ‘pack members’ meet their long time friend. The little girl extended her arms in the direction of the group as they greeted each other and laughed, her ears moving and big honey colored gaze fixated to the people who weren’t paying attention to her.

Rin squinted her eyes as she focused on the congregated group, seeing a tall young man with sun gold and red hair picking up Keiko, his smile and low laughs bringing one to her own face. Kimi burbbled incoherently, kicking her legs and giving her request in joining them. Kagome joined Ayame outside the hut after cleaning up, looking in their direction before proceeding to make it to Rin’s side.

Smiling at her daughter as she squealed in delight from seeing her mother, the miko reached down taking her from Rin’s care.

“Such a bubbly girl, were good for auntie Rin Kimi?”

With a giggle from the silver haired pup, as well as her hands being shoved in her mouth, Kimi answered with gusto as if replying ‘YES!’.

Rin smiled at the two shaking her head and saying,

“She was wonderful Kagome, I love spending time with her.”

Kagome rewarded the little baby with a kiss to the forehead and a few praising words before thanking them both and going back to the house.

Sesshomaru could smell Rin’s sweet scent still lingering on the slight breeze, not liking how it suddenly brought interest to a certain young youkai on the other side of the clearing. Bright emerald eyes shifted to the tree across the way, spotting the young woman…and not taking his gaze away. The dog demon watched him with a slight frown on his face, letting his attention go to his intended from the corner of his eye. Rin gave a laugh then a wave in the direction of them all, receiving a dumbfounded look by the tall fox demon, before his clawed hand greeted back in a stiff wave. All three children were hanging off the young man, his attention going to them after a moment of staring at her from afar for a few more seconds.

A low growl, audible to the hazel eyed teen came from his chest creating her to snap her head in his direction in a questioning and fearful stare. Regretting it the moment it escaped, Sesshomaru stayed stoic, not glancing to her…only narrowing his eyes at this new male. Male who wasn’t mated…male who seemed to stare at HIS Rin.

Okay...so someone don't like someone else staring at...someone. DUN DUN DUN. lol. Anyway yeah, I'll explain the whole posessive thing next chapter, and for those of you questioning the whole fight thing at the begining of this story, fret not. It is still a factor...a factor that just hasn't been brought up yet. Umkay?
