Chapter 9: Answered Prayers
A/N: Kagome takes a pregnancy test to find out if Inuyasha got her pregnant. Did her scheme to get pregnant work and will Sesshomaru back off? Hope the newest chapter was worth the wait! I still do not own Inuyasha!

It had been nearly three weeks since Kagome had secretly drugged Inuyasha. She drummed her slender fingers nervously on her black leather steering wheel as she waited impatiently for the light to change from red to green. It seemed like she had been sitting there forever when the light finally turned green. Kagome carefully let her foot off the brake pedal and eased forward.

She quickly turned into the parking lot of the small drugstore and parked in the front row right across from the front doors of the building. Kagome quickly hurried into the drugstore and found the aisle that held all of the condoms and pregnancy tests. Snatching a test that had the words “First Response” written on the box in bold black letters Kagome made her way back up to the front of the store where the checkout counter was.

She groaned inwardly when she saw that the cashier was a male around her age. He grinned at her as she approached and she quickly shifted her gaze to the floor. When she got to the counter the young man spoke making her flinch. “Did you find everything okay miss?”

“Uh yeah.”

“How are you doing today?” Kagome glared up at the young man as he rung up the pregnancy test.

“Just peachy, now how much do I owe you?”

“Oh sorry.” Once the total was figured out Kagome quickly paid for the test and hastily snatched it from the young man. He watched with a confused expression etched onto his face as she bolted out of the store. “Hmmm, I wonder what her problem was?”

Kagome hurried to her car hoping that nobody else would try and strike up a conversation with her. Giving a long sigh of relief when she sank down into the driver’s seat of her car she immediately cranked it. Pulling out of the small pag log lot Kagome turned down onto the back road that she knew would lead her back towards her apartment complex. Kagome practically sprinted from her car up the stairs to her and Inuyasha’s apartment. Unlocking the door Kagome peeked her head in and called out for her boyfriend. “Inuyasha?”

When he didn’t answer she padded inside and locked the door behind her. Kagome went into the bathroom and studied the back of the box before opening it to take the pregnancy test. “Okay so a pink line in the second window means I’m pregnant and no pink line in the second window means I’m not pregnant. I can do this.” She followed the steps to the test and placed it on the countertop to wait for the results.

Kagome padded into their adjoined bedroom to sit on the bed while she waited for the three minutes to pass. Time seemed to stand still as she sat there waiting to find out if she was pregnant or not. When the three minutes had finally passed Kagome ran back into the bathroom and grabbed the test off the countertop. Her blue gray eyes darted to the second window and they grew wide when she noticed the thin pink line that stretched across the small window. “A pink line in the second window! I’m pregnant!” Kagome placed the test back on the countertop and then ran into the living room to dig her cell phone out of her purse.

She flopped onto the sofa and immediately dialed Inuyasha’s number. Kagome waited impatiently for him to pick up and he finally did by the time the phone had rang for the fourth time. “Hey baby girl.”

“Hey Yash, where are you?”

“Han out out at Miroku’s why?”

“Baby I need you to come home right now!”

“What’s up kitten?”

“Just come home Inuyasha, there’s something important that I need to tell you right away!”

“Okay baby I’ll be home in a few.”

“Great see you in a few! I love you!”

“I love you too baby girl.”

“Bye!”

“Bye angel.” Inuyasha hung up his cell phone and shoved it back into his baggy dark denim jeans pocket. “Hey Miroku, that was Kagome and she sounded like something was up, so I gotta run.”

“Okay no problem Inuyasha, see ya later.”

“Yeah later.” Inuyasha let himself out of his buddy’s apartment and strode downstairs to where his car was parked. He slid into the driver’s seat of his red Mazda RX8 and cranked up the engine. His mind was turning circles as he headed back towards the apartment he shared with his girlfriend. ‘ What could be so important that Kagome would not tell me on the phone? I hope that she’s not sick or anything, or maybe she’s not doing so well in class? Guess I’ll find out soon enough.’

Inuyaturnturned into the parking lot of their apartment complex and pulled into the parking space next to Kagome’s black Honda Civic. Putting his car in park he killed the engine and quickly stepped out. Jogging up the stairs to their apartment he fumbled with his keys to find the one that would unlock the apartment door. After a moment of clumsiness he finally managed to fit the key into the lock and open the front door. “Kagome? I’m home baby girl, where are you?”

“I’m in the bedroom Yash!” A devilish grin spread across his handsome face as he locked the door and ran down the hall to their bedroom. He found his girlfriend laying on the bed wearing his old green and white Tokyo High School soccer tee shirt. When she sat up he caught a quick glimpse of her white satin bikini style panties. “Hey Yash, you made it home fast.”

“Yeah, you sounded like something was wrong. Are you okay Kagome?”

“Yeah baby, I’m more than okay. Come sit with me?” She patted the mattress beside her and he quickly joined her.

“So what was so important that you couldn’t tell me on the phone angel?” Kagome flashed him a big grin and then stood up.

“Wait right here, I’ll be right back!” Inuyasha stared at her with a puzzleok ook on his face as she ran into their bathroom. A moment later she reappeared and flopped down onto the bed beside him once more. In her right hand he noticed a thin white plastic object.

“What’s that Kagome?”

“It’s a test.”

“What kind of test?”

“A pregnancy test.” Inuyasha’s amber eyes grew wide as Kagome turned the plastic test over in her hands.

“Why do you have a pregnancy test baby girl?”

“Well Yash, I was feeling a little strange so I bought one. I figured I would just take it and see what the results were.”

“And what were they?” Kagome handed him the test and he glanced down at it looking confused. “What do these two pink lines mean Kagome?”

“I’m pregnant Inuyasha!”

“You’re pregnant? You mean you and me…we…I mean I-”

“We made a baby Inuyasha!” She smiled up at him broadly as he stared down at her wide eyed. Then he quickly swept her up into a tight embrace letting the pregnancy test fall to the floor forgotten for the time being.

“Oh baby girl, we’re having a baby?”

“Yeah, are you happy Yash?”

“Surprised but yeah I’m happy Kagome, I love you.”

“I love you too Inuyasha!”

“We gotta celebrate Kags! Get dressed baby we’re going out to dinner!”

“Where?”

“We’re going to Kyoko’s.”

“Kyoko’s? Isn’t that a little expensive Inuyasha?”

“Yeah, but it’s the perfect place to celebrate our special occasion.”

“Okay, well what should I wear?”

“Wear my favorite dress, I want you to look as perfect as I think you are baby girl.” Kagome grinned as she walked over to their huge walk in closet. Opening the door she padded inside and turned to the right where all her clothes were. Thumbing through her extensive wardrobe she finally found what she was looking for. Pulling the knee length midnight blue silk dress off it’s hanger carefully she went to drape it over the back of her chair at her vanity. Heading back into the closet she easily found her midnight blue sling back heels and her midnight blue satin handbag that she had bought especially for that dress.

Kagome quickly showered and blow dried her long raven hair. Curling her thick black tresses neatly she then applied her make up carefully. Slipping on the diamond earrings that her grandmother had given her before she passed away Kagome smiled at her reflection. Then she reached into her jewelry box and pickp thp the diamond necklace that Inuyasha had given to her for her last birthday and placed it around her slender neck. Walking over to where she had laid her dress she picked it up and stepped into it. Inuyasha walked up behind her and slipped his arms around her tiny waist. “You look amazing Kagome.”

She grinnhen hen she felt his lips press against the back of her neck. “Zip me up Yash?” He nodded and carefully zipped up the back of Kagome’s dress. She turned around to face him seeing what he had chosen to wear. Inuyasha looked fantastic as always in his black dress slacks and pewter colored button down shirt paired with hiack ack polo boots. “Oh Yash, you look sexy!” He flashed her a toothy grin as he helped her into her vanity chair. She watched as he knelt down and slid her sling back heels onto her feet gently. dingding once more he gently pulled Kagome to her feet.

“Come on baby girl, Miroku and Sango are going to meet us at Kyoko’s.” Kagome nodded and grabbed her small handbag as Inuyasha led her out of their bedroom. They climbed into Inuyasha’s red Mazda RX8 and headed towards Kyoko’s. Kagome’s blue gray eyes grew wide as they pulled into the large parking lot only to stop so that a valet could park the car for them. Kyoko’s was a very traditional Japanese styled restaurant and it was very beautifully decorated with lots of small windows and oriental paintings hung on the light sage green colored walls. All of the tables were low and made of dark polished cherry wood. Around each of the tables were four large plush looking champagne colored pillows.

Kagome smiled at Inuyasha as they were led to their table in the corner of the elegant restaurant. Sango and Mi wer were already at the table waiting for the happy couple. Inuyasha helped Kagome to sit down on one of the large champagne pillows and then took his seat next to her. Sango was wearing a sleek looking strapless black dress and her long black hair was pulled up into an elegant looking bun. Miroku was dressed in a dark blue button down shirt that was nearly as dark as Kagome’s dress and a pair of black dress slacks. “So Inuyasha, Kagome what is the happy news that we are celebrating?”

Inuyasha grinned at Kagome before turning to answer Miroku. “Well Miroku, Kagome and I wantedcelecelebrate because we just found out today that Kagome is pregnant.” Sango’s dark brown eyes widened as she glanced over agomagome.

“Kagome you‘re pregnant?”

“Yeah!”

“Wow um congratulations.”

“Thank you.” The four friends were soon dining and laughing and having a wonderful time. Kagome put down her chopsticks and went to stand.

“Where are you going baby girl?”

“To the ladies room, all that water has gone straight to my bladder.” Inuyasha smiled as Kagome padded towards the bathroom. Turning to Miroku he still halfway gazed after his girlfriend. “Isn’t she beautiful Miroku?”

“Yeah Yash, Kagome is perfect for you.” On the way to the restroom a smooth silky baritone voice stopped her in her tracks.

“Hello Kagome, enjoying yourself?” She turned and saw Sesshomaru standing just outside the men’s restrooms.

“Yes I am if it’s any of your business. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go to the ladies room.” Kagome opened the door and was surprised when Sesshomaru darted in after her. “What the hell are you doing?” Making sure that no one else was in the room he closed the door and locked it.

“Isn’t this place a little too expensive for college kids to dine at Kagome?”

“Inuyasha and I are celebrating.”

“Oh really, what’s the joyous occasion?”

“It’s really none of your business Sesshomaru.”

“Oh come now kitten, we’ve shared quite t I’t I’m sure that you can share this with me.” She narrowed her blue gray eyes at him hatefully.

“Fine if you really must know, Inuyasha and I are celebrating because we found out today that I’m pregnant.” Sesshomaru stared down at Kagome with wide amber eyes. “What’s the matter Sesshomaru, cat got your tongue?”

“You’re pregnant?”

“That’s right, Inuyasha and I are expecting.” Sesshomaru released his hold on Kagome’s arm and stared down at her not knowing what to say. “Look I’m happy and Inuyasha is happy so why don’t you just leave me alone Sesshomaru?”

“Oh you think that you’re getting out of our little agreement now?”

“I’m pregnant Sesshomaru!”

“That matters not, you’re just barely pregnant and I’ll expect you at my penthouse after class tomorrow. We have a lot to discuss little one.” With that Sesshomaru left Kagome alone in the ladies room. She quickly relieved herself and returned to the table with Inuyasha and their friends. The rest of the evening went relatively smooth and soon Inuyasha was leading Kagome out of Kyoko’s. The valet retrieved Inuyasha’s car and the two headed home to their apartment. Kagome followed Inuyasha into their bedroom and stepped out of her heels.

“You looked beautiful tonight Kagome, I just want you to know that.”

“Thank you Inuyasha.” He nodded and turned her around so that her back was facing him. Kagome felt his fingers as they gently unzipped her dress. The silky material was soon sliding off her shoulders and down her arms. Kagome watched as Inuyasha slipped the dress completely off her body so that it pooled around her ankles on the floor.

“God Kagome, you’re so beautiful! I love you so much!”

“I love you too Inuyasha.” His large hands slid down to rest on her flat stomach lightly. Kagome smiled when she felt him begin to caress her stomach gently. “Kag“Kagome?”

“Yes Inuyasha?”

“Let me make love to you tonight?”

“I thought you’d never ask.” She allowed him to turn her around so that she faced him once again. Her blue gray eyes followed his fingers as they worked to unbutton the buttons on his pewter dress shirt. His chiseled bronzed chest was quickly bared to her as his shirt was tossed to the flooren hen her eyes shifted to his belt to watch him unclasp it and then unzip his slacks. The black slacks were slipped easily off his hips and down his muscular legs so that he stood before her in nothing but his black silk boxers. His erection was straining against the silk material. Kagome allowed Inuyasha to slip her panties and bra so tso that they could join the rest of their clothing that had been tossed on the floor.

Inuyasha picked Kagome up and carried her to their large bed to lay her down gently. He slid over her careful not to crush her with the weight of his body. Kagome gasped when she felt their skin touch. She felt Inuyasha’s hands as they kissed her naked flesh lightly in exploration. His long thick fingers found their way between her thighs and dipped into her already slicked passage. Soon the two were intimately joined and rocking together in a slow passionate rhythm. Kagome’s lips found Inuyasha’s as he thrust deeply inside of her.

Their love making was slow and tender at first and then it turned frenzied and rough. Kagome moaned loudly as Inuyasha buried himself inside her to the hilt. His own hoarse moan drowned hers out as his seed flooded her womb. The two fell asleep naked and sweaty tightly nestled together beneath the sheets of their bed. For the time being Kagome had forgotten about Sesshomaru’s agreement with her and everything that went along with it tha that would all change and sooner than Kagome would want it to.
