Chapter 10

Chapter 10
"I can't believe they're taking this long. I'm going after her!" Kouga declared, growling as he rose to his feet. Inuyasha smirked at him as he raised an eyebrow.
"That really such a good idea wolf? What if she decides to make use of that katana of hers? Like on you?" Inuyasha asked with a hint of amusement in his voice.
"Gee, I didn't know you cared Inukuro. Just get out of my way." Kouga snapped.
"I don't. Trust me, I would love nothing more than to see you get your ass handed back to you, and by a female no less. It would brighten my day tenfold." Inuyasha replied cooly.
"Both of you knock it off. Its your fault she left so upset to begin with." Sango scowled.
"Yes, you should be ashamed of yourselves. Lady Ayame is more emotional than usual due to her hightened hormones. You both should be more wary of her and learn to accomodate for her rapid mood swings. Kouga as her mate, and Inuyasha as her friend." Miroku said sagely.
"Since when did you get so insightive Houshi-sama?" Sango asked suspisciously as Miroku looked at her hurt, his hand over the center of his chest.
"Sango, your lack of faith in me is heart wretching. I would think you would think more highly of myself but alas, I was mistaken." Miroku said sadly.
A loud crack later, Sango's eyebrow twitched as she set her boomerang back across her back.
"And I would think you would learn by now."
"Typical monk. Distracting her with your words and assuming she won't notice your hand on her ass at the same time isn't exactly earning you any credit with her." Inuyasha said, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Miroku's got a point though. Kouga, you over reacted and that's what upset Ayame." Kagome said as Kouga narrowed his eyes on her.
"How is my desire to protect my mate an overreaction? That damn mongrel of yours could have seriously harmed her and my pups!" Kouga growled as Kagome blushed.
"Inuyasha isn't my anything, Kouga. And I understand you don't want anything to happen to Ayame, or your children if that were the case, but you yelled at her and upset her. In my time, you have to be careful of that too. Or the woman could get overly stressed and have a miscarriage." Kagome warned softly.
"A miss what?" Kouga asked confused.
"Miscarriage. It's....when the woman gets overly stressed, and she can't handle it, and she just...loses the baby. Her body can't handle the stress and she sorta goes into premature labor." Kagome said softly as Kouga's growl darkened.
"So you mean to tell me....not only do I have to protect my mate and pups from demons that would dare to want to harm her, but from herself too? Damn it. Damn complicated females!" He said, rolling his eyes exasperatedly.
Inuyasha smirked as he nodded.
"I couldn't have said it better myself." Inuyasha replied as Miroku nodded silently.

"Come on Ayame-neechan....you can't just stay out here forever...." Ginta whined for the fifteenth time.
"Watch me." Ayame said.
"But Ayame-neechan, Kouga didn't mean to be....um...." Hakkaku began, looking at his companion.
"A jerk." Ginta suggested.
"A baka."
"A male."
"That works." Hakkaku said looking back at Ayame. "See, he didn't mean to be such a male, but see, he was born that way and brought up that way, so its really not entirely his fault." Ayame couldn't help but laugh at that, giggling lightly at the two betas smiled gleefully.
"See, that's much better. Come on, what do you say you come back with us. Or Kouga-sama won't really be happy with us."
"He might hurt us. And that would be bad. He gets frustrated with us and then hits us on the head. Sometimes he dents our skulls." Ginta said with a frown to himself as Ayame blinked at the two of them before giggling softly.
"Ok, ok, I'll go back."
"Thanks Ayame-neechan. You're so nice." Hakkaku said, wrapping his arms around her shoulders in a light hug as she sweatdropped, Ginta joining in.
"Um...no problem you two. Come on let go." She said, pushing them off her.
"Oh of course! We have to be careful. Ayame-neechan could be pupped remember?" Ginta said, smacking the back of Hakkaku's head.
"I remember, I remember. Wow, so how many do you think you and Kouga would have?" Hakkaku asked.
"At least five." Ginta remarked as Ayame's eyes widened.
"Five?! I think that's a little much..." Ayame began.
"Well maybe three or four, but no more than five. I wonder what they'd look like. Oh they'd be so cute." Ginta grinned.
"Yea, and we get to help raise them!" Hakkaku beamed.
"Um...guys..."
"And teach them to hunt."
"When they're old enough baka! They could get hurt."
"I know that stupid. We could teach them to fight too couldn't we? They'd be strong pups."
"Guys....hello..."
"Course they'll be strong. They're the heirs to both packs right?"
"Yea. I bet they have Kouga's attitude."
"No, Ayame's."
"Both?"
"Both."
"GUYS!" Ayame shouted as they blinked at her.
"What?"
"You don't even know if I AM pregnant. Besides, I would think Kouga and I will raise the pups." She said with a blush as they blinked at her and nodded.
"Yea, but, you'll need someone to watch them when you and Kouga want some alone time." Ginta said with a grin as Ayame blushed brightly.
"Yea, so knowing Kouga, that will be a lot, so we'll be raising them as much as you guys." Hakkaku said as Ayame muttered embarrassedly under her breathe and turned and headed back towards the others.
"Was it something we said?"

"Ayame! About time damn it! Are you ok?" Kouga asked, wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her against his chest as she blinked at him. Then she remembered she was still mad at him as she frowned and pushed him away.
"Kouga, you can't expect to just sweat talk me everytime we get into a fight. That won't work on me." She said firmly as he smirked devilously and whispered in her pointed ear. Moments later she blushed furiously and swatted his arm.
"NO! That won't work either!" Ayame cried as Inuyasha's ears twitched.
"You're as bad as Miroku, wolf." Inuyasha said as Kouga shot him a look.
"If you spent half as much time courting after Kagome than you do quirping over being jealous of me and my mate, you might get somewhere with her." Kouga replied back as Inuyasha turned as red as his hanori.
