Responsibility

His lungs felt like they were on fire. The faster he ran, the slower he seemed to go. He had to run or else the demons would tear his friends apart trying to get to him. His heart felt as if would burst at any moment. A sudden movement to his right alerted him to the fox demon that was attempting to sneak up on him. With a swift kick to a tree, it broke and landed on the fox demon, killing it instantly. With a snarl, InuYasha made it to the mountain range he had been aiming for. Its large labyrinth of tunnels perfect for the exhausted half demon to rest and defend himself. With a whimper, InuYasha collapsed deep inside the caves he hoped would protect him.

The lord of the west stood upon the dirt road that led into the village that Rin now called home. Lord Sesshoumaru knew that his ward was quite content to live in the village with the aging priestess. Every few months or so, he would make the trip to this human village to give her a gift he had seen and knewhis ward would enjoy. But this time differed from his other visits. The moment he stepped foot into the village, a sharp sent caught his nose. The sent of a demon in heat. And not just any demon. His brother. Sesshoumaru stopped walking. "My lord, why have we stopped?", squawked Jaken. "Continue to the village and stay with Rin." Was the only answer he received. `Abandoned once again`. Thought Jakon as Sesshoumaru sped off.

Sesshoumaru ran as fast as he could while still following his brothers` sent. As he came across a mountain, he noticed that the strength of his brothers sent spiked. Not to far off was a felled tree, of which smelled strongly of death. A quick sniff provided that it was not his brother who lay dead. Continuing on, the strength of InuYasha`s sent grew. As Sesshoumaru followed his brother`s sent deeper into the labyrinth of the mountain, the more he wondered how InuYasha would react to him. As he turned another corner, Sesshoumaru stumbled acrossan unconscious InuYasha. Th e hanyu look worse for the wear. Disheveled and limp, he looked as if he had been through hell and back. Slowly, Sesshoumaru touched his brother`s cheek. Like a switch was flipped, InuYasha went from unconscious to raging animal in the blink of an eye. Sesshoumaru barely dodged InuYasha`s wild swings. "Relax InuYasha, this lord Sesshoumaru means you no harm." At hearing his name InuYasha calmed. "What the hell are you doin` here?". "I caught sent of your heat and followed you here." Was the soft spoken reply. InuYasha`s eyes widened. "You came here to . . . No!" With a burst of speed InuYasha ran as fast as he could, running but knowing that his brother was faster.

Sesshomaru watched as his little brother ran from him, knowing that his speed outmatched InuYasha by three fold. With a growl, Sesshoumaru`s demonic half fully posed him. Within seconds, the western Lord gave chase.
