A/N Ok to start with this is my 1st fic with this pairing and about the 4th or 5th fanfic I’ve ever posted. I don’t mind criticism but please if you think that something is off or have an idea you would like to see in the story just tell me I love those type of reviews the best, don’t do the whole “Oh my god I hate this fic bla bla bla….” or any of that crap. This is my story don’t like the plot stop reading.

Warnings- this is a sesskag story (those on dokuga already knew that). There will be no time travel in this and its AU. I have the “general” plot and ending done but the details of getting to said ending and such aren’t done, I don’t like to predetermined everything incase I like someone’s idea and decide to add it in or something.

Ch-1

Why? A simple question with a million and more answers. Have you ever wondered WHY we know the things we know? Look to the past, once we thought it was impossible to talk to someone a town away with out going there. Now we can talk to people just about anywhere in the world. Why is that? Why was it impossible? Why is it possible? Just Why?

Why talk? Why think? Why learn? Why play? Why laugh? Why cry? Why fight? Why hate?

You don’t know do you? Well neither do I. Yet even asking why I don’t really care. I cant imagine the world any other way, yet I feel this passionate need to ask “Why is it this way?”. So I will continue to ask and search for the answer that will never come.

For this day I wish to ask all who read this Why? Can you give a true answer and not say because?

Sighing A young girl stood from her desk stretching. After popping her back she pushed enter on the keyboard in front of her, posting what she had just wrote on her website forums, she loved running and having her own site. Turning off her computer she glanced at the clock and let out a groan, she had stayed up all night again. “Damn nerves and questions!“ She muttered and quickly went about her morning routine before heading down to start breakfast for her family. It wasn’t long before the smell of food brought the other denizens of the house down to eat. Laughing at her brother as he let his head fall on the table to hard and let out a “oww” a minute after his head hit the table. Sitting sown with her family she enjoyed the playful banter the family always seemed to love, and she was thankful for. It lightened her mood about hearing her match today. She hoped That she would not have to leave her city behind after today.

~Across the city~

Two boys were glaring at their father yelling at him for once again waking them because he couldn’t find his reading glasses, which happened to be on his head. It was one of the few things the boys worked together on. Their father hated and loved this fact, for they were a scary team when they wanted to be, but for the most part the boys couldn’t stand each other which meant they didn’t gang up on him, all that often…

Finally they sat down to breakfast, an occasional glare kept the father hidden behind his morning paper. Sadly enough the father was the strongest of the 3. Even working together the boys couldn’t beat their father, yet even in training he never gave either boy more the a scratch or bruise. The father was opposed to hurting ones family so more often then not he found ways around it, beside the boys were the ones turning each other into bloody they didn’t need his help in that.

Looking to the clock the father decided it was time to go. Today was a very special day, it was the day his 2nd son would get his 3rd test and be paired, and his 1st would finally get to meet his paired. Holding back a giggle he hummed a song the boys had been hearing a lot of this week. “What do you bet a let one of the words in his song is grandkids?” The youngest son said to the elder who signed and agreed.

A Kami looked down on the world wondering how it all went so wrong. Yes the world was peaceful, crime and violence was at almost ridicule low rate but nobody could feel as they once did. Sure they were happy and loved still, but there was no passion in it, just a settling acceptances well most of the time.

The world was once free to feel everything with passion, but now thats not so. After the last great war between human haters, Youkai Hater, and a 3rd group the wished for acceptance for all fought and a new peace was established. Those that wished for peaceful co-existence had won but at a price. Not only had many died, but youkai and humans alike had to give up much to live together. Youkai now had to hunt down their own kind should the rebel against the current laws. Humans had to stop hunting youkai and each had to take down the wards that kept the other out, so each may move across the land to where ever they wished. And with many females babies dieing soon after being born.

While this, the young Kami thought, was not so bad; minus the young dieing; it was the laws that she hated. Each female was test 2-3 times in her life to find the perfect mate if she could breed. The males 1 to 3 times for the same reasons.

The males were tests at 14-16-19 years of age, and for females it’s 12-15-18 years of age.

The 1st time they are tested is to see basic personality, pheromones, and breeding quality this is the same for both genders. Those males with poor pheromones and breeding are sterilized before allowed to leave school that day. Females are given an implant so they can not conceive till its removal (as some brake the laws saying to wait) and if she has a poor womb drugs to help fix what ever problem there is.

The 2nd time is to match males with a possible mate a/o mates. There where some Like the Dog Lord in Japan that ended up with two mates instead of one. The chance of have 2 mates, either 2males 1 female or 2 females 1 male, is not very likely about a 1 in 100million chance. As females are few in number due to a chemical (which is really a mixture of 2 bio-weapons that were used) that got into the water and air during the last war it makes it hard for females to live.

The 3rd and last time the males are tested is to make sure the 2nd test had pick the best possible’s and to see which one/s topped the others. The males are sometimes left waiting while the last of the females on their possible’s list takes the 3rd test.

The 2nd test is nearly the same for females. They too are matched with possible males, yet the females are also tested to see the full condition of their womb. If they have little to no chance of carrying a child the implant is removed and they are able to marry a male that failed the 1st test. And later if they wish to try for a child they can apply for “In vitro” at special clinics where males over 20 and under 40 for human and 4000 for demons can donate sperm. Or if the female is friends with a male that can give they both can go so she wont have to get random sperm. The success rate being .05% or 1 out of 200. Females can only try once.

The 3rd test for females is to determine their rate of growth in all area and to see which male they will mate. They do this by going to the top male on her list, which was decided by basic personality, pheromones, and breeding quality, and seeing if she is the best among the females on his list if she is they are matched, if not they go down to the next male on her list and so on. All females that make it to this test get a mate/s yet not all males that reach the 3rd test do, as there is rarely enough females for all the males.

The young Kami sighed she hopped she and the plan worked if it did then the 2 they choose could fix the air and water saving both races. She hopped the people running these test did not mess up as they did the last time the Kami’s had tried to help, yet she knew it to be a possibility as even the Kami’s them-self messed up from time to time, thou none not even she her-self would say it out loud. The young Kami couldn’t help but giggle at that thought.

Walking up to the young female Kami was her older brother. “What has you giggling?” He could not help but ask. She waved off the question. “Nothing much just a thought I had.” She looked down as her brother sat next to her. “It will start soon.” She nodded and hoped with all she was it went right this time. The 2 Kami’s watched the swirling pool of silver/blue water as the other Kami’s came to join them. All hoping this day went as it needed to.

~zoom to northeastern Tokyo med clinic~

She hated this! 1st she had to get tested yet again, it was bad enough that she had to see a dr. twice a year cause she was female and the air and water would effect her till she was around 20, but she also had to take “TEST” to find a husband she wouldn’t be allowed to pick her own. Granted she understood that this was the only reason either race had lived this long since the war, but still she was in love it was just not fair she wasn’t allowed to be with him! No she had to be with who ever they picked for the rest of her life and the same would happen to her love, she just couldn’t bare the thought of him sleeping another or another giving him children.

Trying to calm her self down she looked around the clinic lobby. She watch both girls and boys walked around and talked or sat and talked. She wondered about the red uniform girl she saw looking around. She of course knew that all of northeastern Tokyo schools used this clinic but this uniform she didn’t recognize. But then again you only had to come the week of your birthday for the tests (She had called and picked a Monday slot to get out of math, she now and an extra day to study for today’s test if she didn’t end up having to move that is) so maybe she was from a small school and that’s why she didn’t know the uniform.

Walking up to the desk she waited for the RN to see her as what she wanted was not all that important. “If you have sighed in we will get to you at her appointed time.” That was one thing she had to give this clinic they didn’t get you in on time. “No that’s not why I’m up here. I was just wondering about the girl in the red uniform. I don’t know of any school in the area that has that color.” The RN looked over to the girl before looking back at her work. “She’s waiting for a list to finish. Once the other girl on the list is tested they’ll be able to place who doesn’t get the top male.” Nodding she went to sit down again wondering if the girl knew who it was. She had opted not to know who was on her list. Just because she know her love wasn’t on it. His personality had bumped him to middle list while the Dr told her she was very high, mainly because she was one of few girls that didn’t need the drugs to “fix” her womb.

~across the lobby~

2 males could be heard arguing and 3rd just stood and watched in amusement as his little “brother“ told their father he didn’t need to be here. The 3rd stood a way from the other 2 as he could see one of his possible‘s, He sighed at that thought. He had no desire to spend the rest of his life with that wench. She hoped for his money and the power she would get as his mate. He wanted a female that didn’t care about such things, even if she only saw his as a friend or partner that was better then a wallet or a power pack. As it was looking now he would claim a mistress, that couldn’t breed, that he could stand and his “mate” would be only for breeding. He watched the girl looking around most likely for him. He hadn’t looked as his list so he had not known who was on it, as a matter of fact he knew that the list had 15 females on it yet only seven he knew, because they came and told him they were on his list. Once the last girl did her test they would tell him which of the two were the best for breeding. As long as the other girl was not as bad as the one looking for him he hoped it to be her.
