I Know Times Are Hard For You
I'm Here For You
Chapter 1--- “I Know Times Are Hard For You”
It didn't seem right to him. Seriously, it was like his friend was oblivious to rejection or something. Ginta always knew that Kouga's stubborn nature would eventually cause someone pain, but he never thought it would bug Inuyasha that badly. Then again, Kagome didn't do much to help the situation. She could've simply said, “No Kouga, I don't want to be with you.” Instead, she teased and waved her hands and giggled, “Oh no, Kouga, that's not what I want.” Yeah, that definitely sounds sincere...
Ginta really didn't know what Inuyasha saw in her. Actually, he had never understood the attraction to females in general. That was probably because he lived in a tribe with all men for his whole life. He wished Inuyasha had something like that, a family. The ookami couldn't even fathom what it was like growing up as a half-demon. And now the woman that Inuyasha liked, the one person who had been there for him, was flirting with other men. No wonder he was so depressed.
What the wolf couldn't figure out was why Inuyasha's sadness was affecting him. He rarely talked to the hanyou, so why was he so concerned about his emotions? Ginta sighed inwardly, he had always been the type to care for others. He hoped that Inuyasha would understand that and trust him.
The hanyou stood by a lake, seemingly hypnotized by the gentle ripples in the water. Ginta watched from a distance, somewhat apprehensive and shy about approaching the inu. The two didn't exactly have the kind of relationship that would be considered friendly. He was sure that in Inuyasha's eyes, he was just one of Kouga's kin; therefore, he was the half-demon's enemy. Nonetheless, he wanted to make sure that his leader wasn't causing anybody pain.
A stinging, cold wind began to blow as Ginta approached the isolated hanyou. He watched the man's silver hair wave from the gusts, but Inuyasha seemed to not pay attention to how bitterly cold it actually was. The wolf wrapped his arms around his bare stomach, trying to retain some heat. He hoped that Kouga would quickly get tired of flirting with Kagome so they could return home; he couldn't wait to wrap himself up in one of his fur blankets. How did Inuyasha manage to not freeze to death on these cold winter nights?
Inuyasha caught the wolf's scent before Ginta was able to say anything. He sneered over his shoulder at the shivering male and mumbled, “What do you want?”
“I uhh... Just wanted to make sure you were alright,” the wolf replied nervously. Inuyasha wouldn't attack him, would he? The half-demon turned back around, not bothering to answer. Ginta scratched his head timidly. “Umm... So... Are you okay?” Again, his question was ignored. The youkai sighed and continued. “I just thought you might be upset because of the way that Kagome's acting around Kouga.” The glare that Ginta received immediately told him that he struck a nerve.
“How is that any of your business?” Inuyasha growled.
Ginta flinched, becoming a bit cautious of the hanyou, but he didn't let the small fear get to him. He took a calming breath before responding. “I'm just concerned. It doesn't feel right knowing that Kouga's thick-headed ignorance is causing you pain. It's unhealthy to keep this stuff to yourself, Inuyasha; I think you need somebody to talk to about this.” Inuyasha crossed his arms and scoffed. It seemed like he was trying to ignore the wolf. The wind began to pick up again, causing Ginta's words to come out shaky as he shivered. “I doubt you can talk to Kagome about this, she seems to think it's not a big deal.” He started rubbing his arms to warm them up. “It seems unfair to you. I doubt that you've ever had anybody to confide in while growing up, since you're a half-demon.”
That got the hanyou's attention. Inuyasha looked over his shoulder and gave the youkai a puzzled look as he tried to figure out Ginta's intentions. Even if he did seem kind, Ginta was a wolf-demon, part of a tribe; Kouga's tribe to make matters worse. The same demons that at one time or another ridiculed Inuyasha for being only half-demon. What made this ookami different? What was stopping Ginta from calling him a mutt? Something wasn't right. He couldn't be expected to confide in somebody that he didn't trust, although he did want to trust the wolf. The situation was too risky. Looking away from the other male, Inuyasha shook his head and began to walk off.
Ginta panicked, he didn't want to fail at helping the hanyou. He took a couple steps toward Inuyasha and pleaded with him. “Listen, if you ever need to talk about something or get something off your chest, you can come to me. I'll listen to you.” The wolf was caught by surprise when Inuyasha stopped walking away. It seemed that he was starting to get through to the inu, and he smiled. “I can't imagine how hard it must have been growing up with nobody in your life. I'll be here for you though, alright? If anything ever hurts you or if you need to discuss anything or... yeah...” Ginta looked down. He could tell that he was ranting and becoming redundant. It embarrassed him, but Inuyasha's silence was making him too nervous. He didn't know if the hanyou was really listening to him, or just waiting for him to shut up. “At least think about it...” he sighed, feeling like he accomplished nothing.
“Fine,” Inuyasha spat out, surprising Ginta. “Just get that fleabag leader of yours out of here.”
Ginta smiled and nodded. He hoped this meant that Inuyasha would allow him to help heal some of his pain. Shuddering slightly as the breeze hit again, the wolf followed the inu, thinking up ways to get Kouga to leave.

A/N::: Yay for uncommon pairings! I can see it working though ^_^ This fic will be 11 chapters (I have it all planned out for once XD) based on a theme (If you can figure it out before the end, you get a cookie ^_^). Judging by this chapter, this is looking to be a short fic O_o; then again, it's only the set-up chapter. Sorry for the slow, seemingly insignificant beginning. It'll get better, promise ^_^. Let me know what you think!
