Chapter 1: Thought’s

‘It is a cold night’ Rin thought to herself as she closed her

balcony doors. Rin walked over to her Queen-size bed and pulled the

silken covers back to reveal a white sheet that her Lord had bought

for her last week. She gingerly slipped under them. She had a big

day ahead of her. Her Lord Sesshomaru had called a ball in her

honor, because it was her 21 birthday tomorrow.

In Sesshomaru’s demonic culture when a girl turns 21, she is to put

on a display to attract suitors, one of which would later become her

mate/husband. According to what her Lord had told her, the girl has

to walk into a room wearing a white gown. The white gown is to show

that she is still a virgin. She then must spin three times to show

the suitors her…um…assets. Then after that display of womanly assets

she must converse with all the men in the room showing that she

doesn’t need a man to hold her own and that she can handle herself

around men. She also must choose two men that night that she wishes

to have court her.

Rin really didn’t want to go through this whole thing, but if it

made her Lord happy then she would do it. For his sake then, if

nothing else.

Rin fell asleep with those thoughts swirling around in her head as

she dreaded that day to come.
