Hello new story here. Let me know if you like it. I did my best with grammar, but could always use the help. I will put warnings when necessary. Enjoy and I will be back to edit.

Also I just installed MS Word. So, just going back and fixing all those nasty grammar mistakes.

Chapter 1
New Beginnings

The moon showed brightly through the passing clouds, on this summer eve. Only, a couple of stars escaped the dark blue heavens. A light breeze swept over the tall grass, which now looked bluish-silver under the luminous glow of the moon.

She observed the way the hoary meadow swayed together in the distance. The leaves rustled as the wind tickled their branches. Taking in a deep breath, Kagome chiseled the memory of the breathtaking countryside before her.

She shivered, due to a storm brewing off in the distance. The smell of rain was thick in the air, and the low rumble echoed in the serene lands; but she wasn’t in a hurry to return home just yet. She continued to listen to the crickets, and the hoots of owls off in the distance.

She would usually sit here and think, while she tried contemplating on how to get home to her time. The well from her time had sealed her into another era. Unfortunately, it had sent her into the past, when modern day equipment now rendered useless.

A graduate, lost in a world where legends where made. Knights gallivanting on white steeds, going about their heroic deeds, or simple peasants tending their farms.

Iron was rich in these lands and the fields where good for farming. However those people where distant and again she was alone---yet not completely. She lived with an elderly woman who took pity on her. She chuckled slightly recalling her illustrated expression, of shock and utter confusion when they first met.

Many emotions swept across the young woman’s face, as she sighed. Honestly, she never wanted to leave here, how could she. The air was clean and the stress of not having to deal with everyday occurrences. However, she was still distraught by the week’s prior events.

She did not want to return to the elderly woman’s hut just yet. She decided to walk back towards the old well. ‘I still cannot understand how I ended up in Renaissance era? Since I’ve lived in the future…the Twenty-First century to be exact,’ she reflected.

A ripe young woman of eighteen caught with desires she never knew. She was now stuck in a fairytale world and now she would became only a myth herself. Would or could she find love here? Or was she bound to a world of unknowing.

If she tried to return home, would the old wooden well let her? On the other hand, would she be transported again--to another time…another realm? Or, would she remain in this time?

She left the serenity of the meadows before her. She decided to walk up where the well lay, only to escape from her own inquiries. It had become a daily routine---a solemn one at that.

Bringing her arms up together, she rubbed them briskly, due to the chill of the nighttime air. Another strong breeze blew in and she could feel her short green flowing mini skirt lifting in the wind. Gasping she quickly forgot the chillness of her arms and worked on keeping her skirt down. Thankful, that no one was behind her, to see her white creamy flesh.

Maybe it was she that thought the wind was cold tonight. For when walking her body felt warm as the small beads of sweat collected on her brow. As if the bitter air was a reminder of her loneliness, and the unforgettable memories of her family.

Her long raven hair kissed her back, as her white oxford, clung freely to her supple breasts further showing off her white bra. What she wanted to do and contemplated on doing was turning around and head back towards the safety of her temporary home; she did hope that one day the well would let her pass. She chuckled at the irony: torn between to worlds.

The small square shaped form came into view. Its walls were three feet off the ground. Vines grew on the inner walls, escaping out the opening. Long grass came up to the ledge. Inside was dark and eerie.

She stood there in front of the well, looking at it distressingly, where some of the wood had rotted away. She stood there nonetheless, and then felt an overwhelming amount of sorrow. Falling down onto her knees, she could not stop the tears cascading from her hazel eyes. Rubbing her lids carefully, not wanting to damage her long lashes. “Please God, let me see my family again!” she whimpered, as her long black hair danced around her compassionately.

“I miss you so much mom,” she alleged one last time before composing herself. Standing up, she wiped her tears away; for she was strong and wouldn’t let the overwhelming, memories consume her. She would have to leave and not return, for the utter hopelessness of returning just laughed in her face. There was no way she would be able to jump in; it was too deep, and surly she would perish.

Kagome turned her back on the aged well, never looking back. With determination, she hurried back to the safety of her home. She noticed in the distance, she caught the sparkle of water as the wave ripples leaving a silver glimmer catching her eye. She would definitely remember this spot. A nice place to bathe, she smiled at the idea and returned to her short-term home.

Silently creeping back into the straw hut, she made haste toward the sleeping quarters. Hoping not the wake the old woman in the next room, she tiptoed. Once she made it safely into her room, she removed her skirt and her white sailor top, reaching into her yellow handbag; she pulled out her cotton white dress pajamas, she quickly changed into them, then she headed to bed. Thoughts of the day running through her mind, she silenced them out and made her early escape into nirvana.

“Have fun dear, I will see you in the morning.” Kagome heard her mom saying, as she watched her wave to her from the kitchen window.

Excited that she was going to her friends after school to a concert and a sleep over; Kagome ran to the large amount of stairs ascending towards her house. As she stopped to take a quick breather, she suddenly heard a faint cry off in the distance. She followed the noise until making her way over to the brown wooden shed. This door normally was kept locked; I wonder who forgot to lock it? She decided to investigate, sliding the panel door open.

Walking in to the darkened room, she called out “Hello is there anyone in here?” she asked, feeling a bit silly. Yeah like there would be anyone hiding in here, stupid. She looked around the room, it was small, and there were places that the light did not touch, only gave the room an uncanny appearance.

“Meow…” The fat brown and white cat cried out in the shadows of the room.

Relief spread over her face it was only her cat Byou, she headed down the couple of steps when she twisted her foot and fell head first into the open well. She closed her eyes tightly waiting for the fatal fall. Suddenly a blue light surrounded her in an ethereal glow. I wonder is this heaven. Then as quickly as it appeared, it dissipated. She expected to be flat on her face but she was not. Glancing up she could see the blue sky. She heard her name calling out to her, but who was it? She asked, the voice came to her again… “Kagome it is time to wake up now.”

“Kagome, Kagome wake up dear it is time do your chores,” Kaede said gently tugging on her shoulders.

“Mom I’m up!” Kagome said groggily. Sitting up she lifted her arms over her head and stretched. She yawned and looked over to Kaede half asleep, half awake. “Oh I’m sorry, I was dreaming of her…”

“There is no need to explain dear, I hope there is a way to open the well again.” She reassured the young girl. “Now come on and get dressed, we have a lot to do today.” She smiled, and then turned, leaving the small room.

Kagome groaned recalling that fatal day; it was always a recurring dream. The past is the past right. It was not a question really; it was just another haunting reminder. She chuckled slightly, not of happiness but of irony. How could this be my past when I’m from the future?

Kagome was grateful that Kaede did not press on about her unusual attire. Since Kaede lived in the forest by herself, she did not usually tend to see many visitors. A warm smile caressed her face, while she put on her usual attire. God? Why did I have to be stuck, with my school uniform? She frowned.

She couldn’t wear Kaede’s cloths. For Kaede was stout. She smiled; soon she would have her own dress that Kaede promised to make for her. She frowned, thinking of the peasant garb that still sat in the small room, next to her black chemise, which she would wear underneath, like a slip in her time.

The dress was red and could tell the fabric was velvety cotton. Unfortunately, the sleeves were long yet free flowing and a slit ran up on the sides. She cringed when the old woman made her stand for hours measuring the fabric. The dress was nice and she had no right to complain, she smiled, I’m grateful, she mused.

She recalled her studies during the 15th century. How nobles would wear gowns that only you would dream of, like a romantic fairy tale, that you would imagine being the princess stuck up in the high tower. She however never dreamed she would be in this era. She wasn’t a princess and would be stuck wearing the maidens’ outfit.

Pulling her hair up into a loose-fitting ponytail, she was grateful however, for her apparel due to the scorching heat outside, and she was thankful that she did not have to wear any of the local garbs just yet.

She watched Kaede fix her crimson dress, which wisped past her feet; she knew the real reason why Kaede was busy working on an outfit for her. She smiled at the elderly lady. “Why do I have to wear this dress again?” She asked while pouting like a five year old.

Kaede looked up still pulling the needle through the fabric. “Do I need to remind thee child? The attire you have is not suitable. You are showing off way to much flesh.”

“Well in my time…” Kagome stated.

Kaede eyes held wisdom, warmth, and love, as she replied. “Yes in your time, it may be appropriate, here my dear it’s not.”

It was amazing what Kaede had to work with, she went out of her way to find the right color dye, and then she took the time and soaked the fabric in a large wooden bucket outside. I still don’t know where she got the money and when did she go into town? Kagome just smiled then sat at the table to eat her breakfast: porridge.

She dreamed of days when her mind would wander back to stories of knights fighting dragons and maidens needing rescued, she sighed the reality was--it was pointless all a futile fairytale. They’re nothing but legends and they really didn’t exist, or did they?

She listen to the old women’s stories to stay away from willows, for they will catch you and never let you go, never to stray alone in the woods at night for it was the witching hour. Superstition, she huffed; these things do not subsist.

Kagome quickly ate her breakfast and followed Kaede out the door, set to start the day with her chores. Everyday was the same, gather eggs, fetch the water, and tend the garden, milk the cow; after all she was young and sturdy. She smiled; at least it gives me something to do. If mother could only see me now. Kagome laughed milking the cow was more of a challenge than a blessing.

The first time she milked her; she almost hit with the back hoof. Then on another attempt the milk instead of it going into the bucket went all over her. Kagome never swayed from her mission, she was determined, and it paid off. The cow never needed to attack her and the bucket was full of milk. Even though she detested and protested, it was a means to an end, without milk there was no butter or cheese.

The food was good for what they had. Kaede would churn the butter outside, and always had a full cooked meal. She even went out of her way to hunt. Wild boar was abundant as pheasants, rabbits, and even venison. Kaede was good with her bow and arrow, and never came home empty handed.

Quickly she grabbed two medium wooden buckets outside next to the hut. She then made her way down a dirt trail that led to a creek nearby. Filling the buckets full of water, she then set them aside. Removing her walking attire, she lazily sat down on large gray flat rock. Letting her feet dangle in the crispness of the water. Her thoughts wandered to the days of old and the days of new.

She sat there in peace, as she did upon the hill in the valley of the silver grass at least that was her title when she would go home and paint the forever etched image in her mind. Kicking her feet she loved the way the water tickled her well-toned legs.

She glowered; the sun rose quickly and heated the land with its blanket of warmth from the sunrays. Gold sparkled around the rippling water, she sighed it was so tranquil here she didn’t want to make her way back to the hut to finish her chores. Kaede probably worried about her, and her procrastinating ways. She never scolded her, and always treated her kindly. Rising she grabbed the heavy buckets’ and headed back, she did not even bother to grab her shoes, she would return for them later. Besides, the earth was incredibly soft under her feet and she would eventually have to wear the shoes from this era.

Returning to her home, she watched as Kaede, tilled the garden; passing the elder she brought the buckets up to the doorway, she froze when Kaede spoke, “Is the water nice? I hate to think of what goes through your young pretty head, to leave ones shoes.”

Her words were always astute, even when she didn’t even glance at her, she smiled, “Yes Kaede the water was very nice today, I’m sorry that I took so long.”

Kaede chuckled, she enjoyed having ones company she was lonely and old. Lifting water wasn’t helping her aching back. The hardship of being on her own, widowed at a young age she vowed never to love another. In addition, became devoted to her home. She would churn the butter or cook dinner and tended the clothes. She smiled yes having one so young is pleasant.

Travelers came and passed even the prince offered her a place to stay at the palace; yet she turned it down, that wasn’t her style she would never fit in. She belonged free, not confined. Yet, she seemed to love again as she cherished Kagome, the daughter she never had, and an easy friend to talk with.

After finishing her everyday job, Kagome grabbed her yellow pack and walked out into the setting of the horizon, she smiled at the beauty of the orange-red glow, fading behind the silhouetted trees. “Kaede I’m going for my bath now, I will not be long for you to worry!” She yelled, not awaiting an answer, she quickly dashed off towards the well where she saw perfect place to wash away pain and bring soothing comfort.

Kagome had no reason to fret she walked out of the hut last night with no worries. Tonight would not be any different. Besides, these myths are not real. She approached the calm pond, to her much disappointments the water however was not suitable for her needed nightly bath. Maybe if I walk around, there might be a cleaner spot. She considered with no intention of giving up her nightly quest. Grateful for the full moons radiance, she was happy to have a couple of nights that bestowed the amount of luminosity.

A twig snapped into the night, she stopped as her heartbeat thumped franticly in her chest. No worries girl it is probably just an animal. She mused desperately trying to calm down her trembling body.

The amber-eyed man watched in the distance, he silently cursed himself for the damage of the now broken twig. He kept his black velvet cloak tied around his neck and the hood covering his silvery hair. His regal garb hid in the depths of the cloak, he was royalty; the crest on his armor spoke nobility. Under his armor, he wore a red long sleeved tunic; anyone could see the wealth off his armor. He grabbed the hilt of his sword around his waist gripping it tightly.

His sensitive noise inhaled her mixture of her natural aroma and the one of her fear. The scent left him drooling. No human could smell this damn good; he smirked, letting a half tooth grin escape, his nice sized canine.

Keeping as still as possible, he kept visual on her every move. He smiled when feeling her tenseness ease, and she resumed her steady walk. Leaping up to the branches with inhuman speed, he leapt from branch to branch until he was facing her direction. With the final leap, he landed directly in front of her.

“You do realize that it is not safe to be out here by yourself mi lady,” he growled, watching her facial expression flash in his face, the quick bouquet of fear relished his snout once again.

He looked into her beautiful eyes, as they sparked in the moonlight, his heartbeat quickened as he tried to swallow the lump that was now forming in his throat. He could not help but allow her flawless beauty to sweep over him.

“Who are you? And what do you want with me?” She trembled, looking at the mysterious man before her.

“I’m Prince InuYasha, and I rule these lands.” He stated proudly, while giving her a formal bow.

“Well what are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be back at your castle, your highness?” She asked, leaving the highness part dripping with sarcasm. She did not forget the formalities, of being in the presence of royalty. She bowed her head and gave him a quick curtsy. Even though she bowed, it was out of spite and not respectfulness. Her mother always said she was a Smartass.

“Well maybe I should be asking you that since you are in my kingdom,” he spat laced with arrogance. He watched her shocked expression, she was odd and her dress, was short…who was she?

She tried to see the figure under the hooded cloak, curiosity had gotten the better of her, and she slowly approached him with her hand extending to the hood. Then it dawned on her. Wait his kingdom. Pulling her hand back quickly, she quickly kneeled before him then lowered her head in complete submission. Kagome berated herself of her fine mannerism; she was surly going to be punished. She needed reminding that this was not her time and people were different. Chivalry ruled.

Fearful of what he might do, “My lord, please forgive my intrusion, I was merely curious who was hiding under the cloak.” She said humbly, still not looking into the shadows of his hidden face.

InuYasha didn’t answer her, just kept his gaze on her, wanting her, desiring her, asking her to become his queen; a plethora of thoughts were now swimming in his head. A brief smile graced his handsome strong facial features. Ah, she is curious. Just as he savored these thoughts, she had pulled away. He sighed. “You may rise, and yes you are forgiven.”

Arrogant bastard! Kagome’s patience was growing thin. I need to get out of here, think of something…come on girl.

“My lord, I’m sorry but I do need to be getting back. It was very nice to meet you.” Kagome said quickly. Giving a final genuflection, she sprinted back towards the hut. “I have a feeling I will be seeing him again.” She exhaled noisily.

Panic spread through him as he watched her leave. I am not letting her escape that easily. He smiled wickedly, and quickly caught up to her. He grabbed the side of her arm stopping her retreat. “And where do you think you are going? I did not dismiss you!” he said, with authority, while falling back into the depths of her hazel eyes.

She gasped when a strong pair of hands grabbed her arms. How dare him! She huffed, still trying to grasp all the information into her scared body. I don’t care who this pompous ass is. She continued arguing with her inner self, feeling the intense rage building up inside her like a bomb waiting to go off. “Let me go, I do not live around here, I’m merely visiting, so there for you are not my lord!” She yelled, slightly catching glimpses of his amber eyes, and some silver hair that fell onto his brow. As much as she was attracted to his handsome unique features she needed to get out of the situation she had found herself in.

InuYasha found himself temporally speechless. No woman has ever talked to me this way before. He deliberated, bringing his hand to his face. He chuckled. “It does not matter that you live in another kingdom, you are in mine now.” He said bringing his lips down towards hers.

Oh, god he is going to kiss me. She thought franticly, with her other free hand she landed a good smack against the side of his cheek. She backed away, feeling the need to flee, for she just hit a prince, surely death would be her punishment.

With a sudden release, she took off running back to the old well; she only hoped it was the right escape route. Maybe the well will work this time. I have to try.

He growled rubbing the side of his face, and then he gave chase to the girl with pure passion. He felt the hood slide off the back of his head revealing two triangular ears adjoining the top of his head; the cloak flew in the air, when he quickened his pace.

She was almost there she could see the well, but also could hear him running behind her. She exhausted quickly, but still strived on, forcing every inch of her body to comply. She finally made her way to her destination. She then stopped by the old well; Now what?

Afraid if she just jumped in her would surely break her neck with the fall. She had to try it, but before she was able to make her final escape. He grabbed her from behind. His strong arms suddenly surrounded her tiny waist, as her legs kicked freely in the air.

“And where do you think you are running to, mi lady? I told you there would be no escaping me, I rule these lands, and now I rule you.” He said heatedly. His head lowered to the right side of her neck, wanting to nip at her bare flesh. However, her bag was in the way, temporary lapse, and then quickly slashed the arms of the bag with his claws as it fell onto the ground. He smiled when he pulled her in closer to his chest, and continued where he left off.

“I do not care who you are, I’m not yours to sway! Go find love with another and just leave me alone!” She screamed, desperately trying to struggle out of his grasp.

He disregarded her comment, and continued his hold on the tigress. I wonder why she would run to this place when she could have headed towards Kaede’s.

“Let me go!” She said fiercely. She started remembering that self-defense class her mother was sending her to years ago. Observing her captivity, she noticed that he was barefoot. She sent the flat heel of her white boot down on his exposed foot. Then she elbowed him in the groin, careful of his armor. She watched him fall on his knees. Grateful for the freedom she now had. She quickly turned around, only to come face to face with a very angry half-demon.

“What the hell was that for?” he asked shouting at her. He was having a very hard time not killing the human girl before him. First she slaps me then hits me, anyone else would have perished why not her?

Kagome retaliated right back; she started poking him in the chest with her petite finger and yelled, “What do you mean, you perverted prince, I told you no!” She scolded him, while stomping her foot on the ground to add further emphasis. “And I mean it!” She continued to retaliate, with a sinister look in her eye. Then she stormed right past him, satisfied that she made her point.

InuYasha watched her amble away from the well. Quickly he turned and followed her, this time not trying to conquer her. There would be plenty of time for that later; he smiled with a lecherous grin.

He had a lot of nerve! He could be the Prince of Wales and I still would not want him. She thought angrily, while kicking the small stones that waked her path.
