"Helping out and Finding new Feelings"
"Inuyasha where are you going?!" Kagome yelled, still trying to catch up to Inuyasha. He was running as fast as he could, leaving the others behind.
"Why do you ask?" Inuyasha asked, looking back and sniffing the air for the scent he was looking for.
"Because you are way ahead of us!" Kagome shouted, looking into the nearby woods as something black moved through the trees. She looked up and saw the figure jump a long way and into the clearing ahead. Just then Inuyasha caught the scent once more and sprinted off after it. "Inuyasha! I sense two jewel shards near that clearing ahead!"
He just kept sprinting forward then suddenly stopped. He was looking directly at a shrine. "I wonder...," he stepped forward and stopped again for the group to catch up. Once they were all behind Inuyasha, he walked up to the shrine's doorway. "Anyone home?" he called in.
A figure appeared in the doorway and didn't look at all pleased. Her voice trembled as she spoke "what the fuck do you want?" She came out of the shadows and stepped into the sunlight. She wore a black kimono with a chain imprint around it, she had clawed hands, and a pale face. Her ears were similar to Inuyasha's except hers were black. Her hair cascaded down to the middle of her back and it was black with red tipped ends. Her eyes had a violet and crimson red tint to them, giving her eyes an eerie look.
"I smelled blood and now I know where it came from," Inuyasha explained and continued "so are you okay?"
Her voice shook as blood poured from her already pale body "do I look fine to you?" She growled as her arm sheared with pain. "Look, what is it that you want?"
"Well we were wondering if you knew of anything that passed through here with two Shikon Jewel shards?" Kagome asked, nervous from the look they were all receiving from the hanyou girl.
"What these?" the girl asked pulling out two jewel fragments.
"Yes those. Wait, don't you want them?" Kagome asked unsure of whether to take them or not.
"Nope I don't want them. Power really never interested me, I just want it peaceful back here in this part of the woods. All these demons prowl around looking for these very fragments in searching for power. Me, I just like the quiet," she said handing the two fragments off to Kagome.
"So what is your name?" Miroku interjected.
"My name is Kiata, and you are?" she asked not sure of what to think.
"This here is Inuyasha, Kagome, Sango, Shippo, Kilala the fire cat, and myself which is Miroku," he said stepping closer.
Sango then whispered "don't you dare Miroku."
Sango gave him the all knowing look and he retreated back only to give Sango a grope on her ass. 'Smack' could be heard from all over the clearing.
Kiata bowed "I'm sorry for my rudeness, would you like to come in? You seem tired," she offered and stepped back to let them in. "Make yourselves at home while I tend to my wounds." She then disappeared to the hallway and out of sight.
Inuyasha stepped in and growled "I don't like her she's way too nice."
"Inuyasha she has no interest in those shards you heard her. She seems very peaceful," Kagome smiled cheerfully.
Kiata had come back out and looked at the travelers "would you like something to drink?" she asked, seeming in a much better mood.
The group just answered with a simple 'no' and Kiata took a seat. "So how old are you Kiata? You don't look older than about fourteen," Sango said, staring at the scar right above Kiata's left eye. Kiata noticed the glance from Sango and looked down.
"Don't worry about the scar, it was from a battle. But yes, my brother and I are fourteen. We lost our parents a while ago when we were only eight. We live by ourselves, even him and I don't get along very well. He claims he saw me kill our parents and hasn't spoken to me since then. I would be cautious around him though, never stare at his right eye. He is blind in that eye from us fighting," Kiata said just as her brother stepped out of his room.
"Kiata I thought I told you, no guests in the house. No one can be trusted, not even your half-wit self. Just do me a favor and keep them away from me or I'll tear them limb from limb," he growled in a meanacing voice.
"Don't start Sienta, you have no room to talk. Just mind your own damn business," Kiata glared at him and he went outside. She then turned back to Inuyasha and them "I'm sorry for him, that's the crap I have to put up with everyday now."
"That's alright, nothing we never had to put up with I suppose. After all we run into demons everyday," Miroku responded.
"Nothing I'm not used to either," Kiata shook her head and got up. "Well your room is set up, so turn in when you want to, as for me I'm going to bed," Kiata bid them good night and headed off to her room.
"Night Kiata!" the group called out.
"Night! I will talk to you all in the morning," she said rounding a corner and going into the darkness of it.
Kagome brought out her sleeping bag and drug it into the nearby corner. Knowing Inuyasha he'd follow her to protect her overnight. He would never let his guard down when it came to Kagome, he loved her and would protect her but never found any words he could use in front of her face to face. His pride always got the best of him. He wished it could be easier but it never came to him in words. He wanted to tell her so badly but a lump in his throat caught him every time. Her scent always made feel aroused and he never grew tired of it. The two reasons he always sat by her were for one he wanted to protect her and two that damn scent of hers. His instincts told him to tell her but he never followed with it. He wanted to always tell her how good she smelled and that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. To bare his pups and to live with the family they made for the rest of his life. His thoughts then consumed him and he became drowsy. He drifted off, only to wake up every half hour to check on "his" Kagome.
Mornings light fell upon them and Sango was up first. She looked into the corner and saw Inuyasha sitting by Kagome, and smiled to herself. Sango got up and went outside to only see Kiata and Sienta fighting. Sango stayed inside, away from the danger, to only sit there and watch. By the looks of it, Kiata had already been beaten senseless by her brother. Kiata's blood trickled down her face from above her right eye and from her lip. Sienta then walked up to her, smirked, pulled her up by her neck, and slung her into a tree twice her size. Kiata then laid in a crumpled form on the clearing's ground.
Sango bit back a shudder as she saw this and heard the sound as Kiata hit the ground. Sienta just rolled his eyes and walked away. Kiata had blood coming from the back of her head as she laid there. Sango went out, only to be confronted by Kiata's brother. He glared at her and whispered "you touch her while she's down,I'll do the same thing to you. Leave her alone and she'll get up on her own." He turned his back and walked off into the forest. Kiata looked up and got to her feet. She stumbled a few times but was okay by the time she reached the shrine's entrance. The group was up as soon as Kiata and Sango stepped in. Kagome looked towards Kiata and noticed how badly she looked and offered Kiata her assistance with the wounds. Kiata turned her down and went to her room.Kagome instantly knew something was wrong then, but ignored the possibility.
Three days had passed since they last saw Kiata and even her brother.Kagome grew tired of it and went into Kiata's room to visit her, Sango wanted to come but Kagome only signaled her with a hand to leave Kiata and her alone.Kagome stepped into the room and sat on the nearby bed to lay a hand on Kiata's shoulder.Kiata sensed Kagome and instantly got up. "What do you want Kagome?"
Kagome withdrew her hand, hearing how mad Kiata sounded, but continued "Kiata may I ask you something?"
Kiata faced Kagome and nodded her head. "Aye, you might as well now that I'm up."
Kagome gulped and asked "Kiata, if you liked a guy that you've known a guy for about a year and wanted to ask him out, how would you do it without being rude?"
"Well Kagome, ask Inuyasha if he likes you and if he says yes take it from there. Until I know his answer you are on your own," with that Kiata flipped back over and drifted off once more, leaving Kagome puzzled on how she would ask such a question.
Kagome wandered down the hall and arrived in the presence of Inuyasha sitting and waiting. "Inuyasha may I speak to you alone?" Kagome asked, wondering what was going to be said.
Inuyasha got up and followed her outside and into the tree line. She turned to him and began "Inuyasha, it's nearly been a year since we first begun this search for the jewel shards. I want to say something, but please wait to respond when I am finished," she drew a breath and continued "Inuyasha, I've liked you since we began. But I have no clue to what your feelings are towards me. I was wondering if you liked me back?"
At last he was going to be able to tell her how he felt. His heart began to lighten as he looked into her beautiful face. "Kagome, to answer you truthfully I have liked you back since we began this quest as well. Hell, if I didn't like you would I ever had protected you in the first place?" Inuyasha smiled as he embraced her in a hug and kissed her soft lips. "You don't know how long I've waited to do that, does that answer your question?"
Her eyes lit up with excitement and only nodded to the loss of words. She embraced him back as they stood there a while, only taking in the peace of the moment.
Here's the first chapter! Enjoy!
