Part 1

Eira looked down on her prey and smiled. He was relaxing in the hot spring, like he always did when they camped outdoors. He was leaning against a large boulder, with his eyes closed, lips slightly parted, and breathing evenly. Miroku was completely unaware that he was being watched.

Eira knew how to entice the monk. She had been watching him for weeks now. He would come easily to her. She would release him from the torments of his life and bind his soul to hers forever. It would be her gift to him.

Miroku hid a grin under his hand. Inuyasha, as usual, had picked a fight with Kagome, and for his trouble, he got a well deserved "sit". They had been traveling for two days in the direction that Kagome had said she felt a jewel shard. Unfortunately, they hadn’t found it yet, which was why Inuyasha had picked the fight. The usual insults of Kagome being brain dead, idiot, awful smelling, were thrown in her direction until Kagome got fed up with it and just said the magic "S" word. Now Inuyasha was sulking, muttering curses under his breath, and glaring in Kagome’s general direction.

They all settled at a small camp site for the night. It had been a long day and the girls had turned in as soon as camp had been set up. Inuyasha, still sore about the "sit" he’d gotten, was perched up in a tree overhead. Shippou, was curled up on Kagome’s pillow, next to her head. Miroku was the last awake. He sighed and rolled his shoulders to stretch out his sore muscles. He stood up, and walked through the trees to the small spring he knew was nearby.

Miroku shed his robes and walked into the warm water. He let his tension drain out of him as he leaned against a rock. With a contented sigh, he closed his eyes, but almost immediately, they popped back open. Someone was humming softly on the other side of the spring, behind a large boulder.

Standing up, Miroku moved soundlessly through the water to the edge of the boulder. He peered on the other side of the rock and gasped. Perched on a flat rock on the opposite shore, was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen.

She was leaning back on her hands while her legs dangled over the side of the rock. Her black and red robes were hanging off her pale shoulders and rested on her lower arms above her hands, leaving her breasts open to the night air. Her robes were tied at her waist, but parted at her knees, exposing her long legs. Her long, straight hair was silver white and it pooled around her hips, fluttering lightly in the wind. And her eyes were sea foam green. She was looking right at him, as if she had known he would be there.

Miroku flushed and looked away. "I’m so sorry that I disturbed you. I thought that I was the only one-"

Her tinkling laughter cut him off. "You are not disturbing me. If I did not want you to come over, I would have stayed quiet." She gracefully moved down into the water and approached him, her robes trailing in the water behind her.

Miroku gasped as she moved within inches of him. She reached up and touched his cheek. "Do you want me, monk? All you have to do is take me."

Miroku stumbled backwards. This was not happening. No way could this be happening. He shook his head. He wanted her, and she was offering herself to him. ‘Why not?’ argued one side of his mind. ‘She’s here and willing, and you know you want her.’ ‘Because! It’s wrong! I would be totally meaningless!’

"What’s wrong? Am I not attractive to you? I’m offering you myself, and you back away, like I’m diseased."

Good lord, she was beautiful. And she wanted him. Miroku took a step forward but stopped himself. "Meaningless. . . I’m sorry, but I. . . I just. . . I can’t!" Miroku lowered his head and closed his eyes. "I’m sorry." You’ll never know how sorry. . .

Miroku nearly jumped when her hand touched his chest. A moan escaped his throat. "Please. . ."

Her musical laughter filled the air. "It’s alright. If you will find no comfort in my arms, then I will not try to persuade you." She moved closer and pressed her lips against his. She pulled away from him, and moved back. "I promise, we will meet again."

Miroku opened his eyes to look at her one last time, but was surprised that she was gone. Taking a deep breath, Miroku moved back to his secluded spot. So much for relaxation. He ached for her now. What on earth had he been thinking, sending her away? He was so hard, it hurt. With a sigh, Miroku went to the task of relieving himself of that pain.

Eira smiled slightly. Miroku had more willpower than she had thought. But that was fine. She would have him, eventually. With a sigh, Eira moved away from the spring. She could wait awhile more to feed. She looked back at the quiet spring, where she knew Miroku was, and heood ood red eyes glittered. "I will see you soon, my darling Miroku." she whispered.
