Kagome is waking down the hall to the grade twelve homeroom, when she sees a group of kids teasing a student she has never seen before.
Just before she goes and intervenes, she sees the handle of a handgun sticking out of the pocket of one of the bullies.
She gets scared and runs to get the principal, who calls the police and heads to the hallway where Kagome had seen the students. They arrive to see the new student Riyo Takanaga crushing the fist of one of the students. Another one is on the ground holding his broken arm and the last student is busy getting the pistol out of his pocket. The principal, Mz. Kiya, goes to defuse the situation, when a loud bang is heard. When Kagome looks back up, the kid with the pistol was on the ground, coved with the kid with the crushed hand, and Riyo's shoulder is bleeding uncontrollably.
Kagome runs up to Riyo and asks, “Hey are you alright”
Riyo turns to Kagome smiles and says “it’s nothing I can’t deal with, I’ve been shot before, I can handle it”
“You sure? It looks painful,” says Kagome
Riyo says, “Not really, it’s just a flesh wound. I’ll be fine.”
To Kagome this was starting to sound a lot like a certain hanyou so she asks “You sure you don’t want me to check it out? I know first aid.”
“Yes I’m fucking sure. It is not that bad!” yells Riyo as he stomps off to his homeroom class. The same class Kagome was heading to.

Lunchtime in the cafeteria
Riyo sits in a corner holding a napkin to his shoulder and eating the slice of pizza he bought at the cafeteria. Kagome sits at his table and says “I’m sorry about pestering you earlier.”
Riyo gets up, throws the bloddy napkin in the garbage and gets a new one, before saying, “Sorry about yelling at you, I’m just a little annoyed with the whole being shot on the first day of school thing.”
“You said you’ve been shot before, right?”
“Yep.”
“How many times?”
“On or off school grounds?”
Kagomes eyes widen “On.”
“Six.”
“Off.”
“Once.”
Kagome let out a sigh.
“Let me guess. You were thinking it would have been in the dozens, right?”
“Ya.”
Just then the bell rang, signaling the end of lunch.
“Got to go. I have to get to chemistry.”
Kagome looks at Riyo and says “Well it’s been a pleasure talking with you Riyo.”
“Likewise.”
Riyo got up and left for his next class, leaving Kagome alone.
“Hey Kagome wasn’t that the guy that got shot his morning?” said Kagome’s friend Yuka, whom Kagome hadn’t noticed walking up behind her.
“Ya, why hasn’t he gone to the hospital yet, and more importantly, why is he still at the school?” said Eri, Kagome’s other friend.
“First of all his name is Riyo, second of all he chose to be here, and third off, he has had a rough time, so I would appreciate it if you guys wouldn’t spread any rumors about him.” said Kagome, who promptly got up and left for her next class.
