Big Town Little City

Big Town Little City

Chapter One

BEEP…BEEP…BEEP! Kagome groaned as she slid her small hand from under her pink crushed velvet piggy blanket and tapped around on her in table till her hands made contact with her alarm clock. Shutting it off with a long yawn she swiftly pulled off the rest of the covers and slid out of bed.

“KAGOME! ARE YOU OUT OF BED YET?!”

Kagome’s dad hollered from the hallway.

“Yes dad.”

“You better hurry up or you will be late for first day of school so hurry!”

Kagome slid open her closet and pulled out a pair of old boot cut jeans and a green and black button up flannel shirt. After she got all of her clothes on she grabbed the only she shoes she owned, a pair of older dark brown cowboy boots, her brown cowboy hat and her backpack.

“Okay Dad I am ready.”

Kagome said as she walked down the apartment hallway and into the livingroom/dining-room.

Kagome’s dad smiled at her as she reached the couch where he was sitting.

“I guess that old saying about taking the girl out of the country but you can’t take the country out of the girl is true.”

Kagome’s dad chuckled as she plopped down beside him.

Kagome had just moved in with her dad a week ago because her and her mom were having some problems. She wasn’t happy about it either because her mom lives in a small hick town in Iowa where she was born and raised for most of her life. While her dad lives in New York, New York so she felt pretty much like a fish out of water. She was so used knowing everyone and being able to walk outside and see the stars but in New York all you could see are lights and there are too many people to even try to get to know.

“So are we all ready to go?’ Kagome asked

“Sure are.”

“Okay lets get-er-done then.”

Kagome said as she smiled and stood up off the couch.

The two of them left the apartment in silence leaving Kagome enough time to think about home.

~ Flashback ~

“Why do you always think you can run my life!”

Kagome shouted at her mother from across the room.

“Because ‘I’ am your mother! Do you just expect me to let you do whatever you want?”

Kagome’s mom shouted back.

“But… you don’t understand! Hojo loves me and I love him! There is nothing you can do to stop us! NOTHING!”

“Is that what you think?! Well then watch me! Cause guess what little missy, I have called your father and he is coming to get you in three days!”

“What? No! Why?”

Kagome gasped in sudden shock.

“You are to young to leave school and get married and have a family, your only 16 Kagome. Hojo is 21, he is done with school he is an adult, you my dear are a child, not just any child but my child and in the end you will see that what I am doing will be good for you in the end!”

Kagome’s mom partly sobbed as she turned her face away from Kagome.

“But...but Mama…”

“No buts Kagome I have made my decision.”

With that said Kagome stomped her foot and ran to her room. Slamming the door she jumped on her bed and buried her face in her soft pink pig pillow. Crying till she had no more tears to cry, finally she was able to get enough strength to get up and call Hojo. Picking up her pink pig cordless phone she punched Hojo’s number slowly.

RING…RING…RING…

“Hey my beautiful country gal…how is my wonder cowgirl doin ta-day?”

Kagome couldn’t speak at first cause she was scared she would lose all her control and start crying again but slowly she regained it and spoke.

“Hojo…Mama…umm…called my Dad and now he is coming to get me to move to New York.”

“What?! When?!”

“In three days.”

“ Got Damit! Why couldn’t she just let it be? We would have been just fine living in my trailer!”

“I know but…now it is too late…I have to leave.”

“I will call everyday that you are away and…and I will save up my money and I will come and see as often as I can…no matter if it makes me broke or not because I love you and I want, no I need to be with you!”

Hojo said with what sounded like a short sob.

“Oh I love you too Hojo and I too will call every chance I get and try to come back home as often as I can, just to see you.”

Kagome couldn’t help but start to cry now, because she knew damn well that he was crying too.

“Baby… I have to leave tomorrow to take some cows to Nebraska City to sell at their county auction, so I will be gone when you leave, so tomorrow I am taking you out to say goodbye.”

“That would be wonderful…what time should I be ready?”

“Right after school. I will be there waiting to pick you up.”

“Okay, I will see you then, I love you, bye.”

“Love you too baby, bye.”
~End Flashback ~

Kagome could hardly remember getting into the car and arriving at the school. The school was massive with the school’s name in big white letters in front of the driveway.
That read 23rd WestHamiltion St. High School.
Her new schools name was in her opinion kind of weird. She wasn’t used to schools being named after numbers and streets. She was more used to schools named after Presidents or counties.

“Okay, sis we are here, make sure to make a lot of friends today and have a good no great day at school.”

Kagome’s dad said as he kissed the top of her head.

“I’ll try an have a good day.”

Kagome replied as she opened the cars’ door.

“Take her easy sis.”

“Take her easy Dad.”

With that her father pulled away from the curb and left her to fend for herself. Kagome walked slowly on to the campus. On the front lawn there were several groups of kids that ranged between Goths, Ghetto fabulous, Richly rich, Bikers, Jocks, Scrubs, Hippies, Pot heads, Loners, Geeks, Band camp lovers, Gays, Lesbians, Dramatic actors and actresses, Cheerleaders, to Preps.

She took note of the Goths standing behind the school dumpster, smoking cigarettes. The Ghetto fabulous people were all either standing or sitting on the side steps of the school. The Richly rich kids were all together at the water fountain that was on the middle of the lawn to her right. The Bikers were all on their bikes in the school parking lot some of them smoking cigarettes. The Jocks and Cheerleaders were on the bleachers that were by the football field that was of to side behind the school, but was still visible from where Kagome stood. The Scrubs, Hippies, and the Pot heads all mingled together under the big willow tree that was in center of the lawn to her left. The Loners stood in the corner where the front steps met the school wall. The Geeks and Band Camp kids were scattered across the front lawn closet to the Richly rich. The Gays, Lesbians, and the Dramatic people were all sitting in a circle on the ground, left of the front steps. Finally the Preps were all gathered around the front door sitting on the steps and such. It was like everything revolved around them, like they had to be the center of attention.

Kagome felt strange as she walked up the steps because the whole time that she approached the school it seemed like everyone’s eyes were on her. When she reached the steps two boys who looked to be twins suddenly blocked her path.

“So are you some kind foreign exchange student?’

The boy to Kagome’s right asked curtly. Kagome found it hard not to laugh at the boy who spoke to her.

“I ain’t no foreign exchange student. What makes you think that?”

Kagome asked with little desire to hear his reply

“Because you dress like you are from another world.”

The same boy that first spoke to her said as he turned to the other boy and chuckled.

“Well if y’all think I look funny I really suggest that y’all look into a mirror sometime. Cause I think y’all really take the cake there. I mean why would you want a single strip of hair down the middle of ya head?”

Kagome shot back. Before the two boys could think of anything else to say a really tall athletic, ultra light natural blonde almost white haired boy interrupted them. He had gold eyes and, wore a white pull over sweater with a black strip crossing his stomach and an even strip circling his elbows.
His pants were white washed blue jeans, and his shoes were white sneakers with black laces.

Her eyes traveled back up to his face and was instantly hypnotized with his chiseled features.

Oh, wow…

“That’s enough Ginta and Hokkoku. Shut up and let the girl through.”

“Who the hell made you king of the school Sesshoumaru?”

Ginta said as he glared in Sesshoumaru’s’ direction. Sesshoumaru did not respond to him all he had to do was look at him and Ginta and his brother moved.

“Thank you, my name is Kagome.”

Kagome said as she smiled and stuck out her hand.

“Sesshoumaru.”

Was all he said as he took her hand to shake. Kagome couldn’t help but feel flustered by him and as there hands made the up and down motion she couldn’t help but feel some kind of electricity

“The office is three doors down and to the right once you walk in.”

He let go of her hand and let her pass. Kagome walked up the rest of the steps and into the large school. Kagome made it in the office just before the bell rang and she was thankful she did because students gushed in to the hallways to get to their lockers. There was a short bald man sitting at the front desk. Kagome had to clear her throat for the man to notice that she was there.

“Oh hello my name is Myoga I am the schools secretary.”

Myoga chirped out.

“Umm… I am a new student and I need to get my schedule.”

Kagome said as she looked down at her boots.

“Just one minute and I will get Principle Izayoi, so take a seat.”

“Thank you.”

Kagome said as she sat down in one of the chairs. Like twenty minutes seemed to have passed before the door to Principle Izayoi’s office opened.

“I am serious Inu Yasha, start trying in your classes or you won’t be on the football team anymore. I am saying this not just as your principle but as your mother too!”

Principle Izayoi said as she tapped her foot in annoyance.

“Yeah, yeah whatever.”

The boy she called Inu Yasha said as he walked the rest of the way out of her office. He was going to walk right of the office but something about Kagomes’ appearance stopped him.

“Why are you dressed like that?”

Inu Yasha asked.

“Where I am from this is how everyone really dresses.”

Kagome said with a slight blush because of how intently he was looking at her.

“Oh really, where are you from?”

“Colfax, Iowa.”

“Never heard of it before, oh by the way my name is Inu Yasha. I am this schools quarter back.”

“Hello Inu Yasha, I am Kagome.”

Kagome said as she shook his hand. This Inu Yasha fellow had the same little electric shock to him like the boy she met before. That is when it hit her they both had some of the same facial features except he had black hair like his mom. He was shorter than Sesshoumaru but just as muscular. He wore a letterman jacket that was red and black which was what Kagome guessed was the schools colors. His jacket had the number 20 in black on his sleeves and in red on his back. He wore a plan white T-shirt under his jacket and a pair of dark denim jeans with solid black sneakers with red laces.

“Kagome?”

Principle Izayoi called from her doorway.

“Well that’s me, it was nice talkin to ya.”

Kagome said to Inu Yasha as she got up and walked into Izayoi’s office.

“Hello Kagome, my name as you probably know is Izayoi. The rules here are like any schools. If you choose to brake them you shall get the consequences. The only thing different at this school from your old one is that all the teachers go by a first name basis, so instead of calling them Mr. or Mrs. you call them by their first name.”

Izayoi said as she sat down at her desk.

“Your schedule is ready and on the front desk, so do you have any questions?”

“ Umm…actually yeah, I have two questions. Can someone help me find my classes? Also… this is going to sound weird but I was wondering if Sesshoumaru and Inu Yasha are both your children?”

Kagome asked trying not to look at Izayoi.

“Well actually Sesshoumaru is my husband Inutoushos’ child from his first marriage. They are half brothers though. About that school guide there should be one in office already.”

Izayoi said with a smile. When Kagome knew Izayoi was done talking she got up and left to grab her schedule from the front desk. From behind Kagome she heard a real soft voice.

“Do you have everything you need?”

Kagome turned around to see the face that went with the voice. The girl was obviously a hippie. She had long black hair that reached to the middle of her back. Her face was slender and tan she wore light pink sunglasses so it was kind of hard to tell what shade of brown her eyes were. Her outfit was something strange, she wore a light pink vest that had fringes on the bottom under the vest was a black tank top that had a pink peace sign on it. She wore black bell-bottom jeans with pink and black flip-flops.

“Yes I believe I have everything.”

Kagome said as she picked up her backpack.

“My name is Sango what’s yours?”

“My name is Kagome.”
