“Inuyasha!” a girl’s voice rang out through the air cutting Inuyasha’s reverie short. Inuyasha turned his head and glared down at Kagome, “What?” he snapped from his branch. Kagome sniffed and turned her head, “Fine, if you’re gonna be that way. I was just going to tell you that I’m going home for a test.”
“Feh, like I care.” Inuyasha turned his head, his back was still quite sore from a recent violent sitting when he had insulted Kagome’s cooking. But it was the truth; the omelet didn’t taste even relatively to anything made from egg. Whatever talents the girl possessed, cooking wasn’t one of them.
Kagome looked highly insulted and just turned, “well it’s a very big test and I might be gone for DAYS. Not that you would care.”
“You’re right, I don’t.” Inuyasha snapped back but he instantly regretted his words when he spotted the
murderous look on Kagome’s face. He opened his mouth only to hear the dreaded words-
“SIT!” Inuyasha readied himself as the beads around his neck began to glow and he found himself plummeting down to the brown earth, “SIT SIT SIT SIT SIIIITTTTT BOY!!!!” Kagome’s shrill voice hurt Inuyasha’s ears only adding to the excruciating pain he could feel as he found himself sinking deeper and deeper into the ground.
He could sense Miroku and Shippo standing over him and shaking their heads, again admonishing him for not minding Kagome’s feelings. “Feh.” He humphed. What about his feelings? Not to mention his physical feeling. Kagome’s constant violent sittings were starting to take a toll on his body. Even demons needed a break. He growled with frustration as he forced himself up. Pain flooded his head, and he grimaced. “Not again.”. he was starting to get headaches from all of the sittings. Kirara gave a small mew of concern and butted his ankle with her small head. Inuyasha gave her a small fanged smile and walked ahead, ignoring Miroku and shippo.
Sango handed him a fish straight from where it had been cooking in the fire. He grunted his thanks then shoved it in his mouth whole. His eyes rolled back as it burned his tongue and burned all the way down his throat. He gave a small shout and did a sort of jig around the fire, fanning his tongue. Sango, Miroku, Shippo and Kirara watched him in interest as he ran to a nearby stream and plunged his head in it. He grimaced and shook his head, feeling his now rough tongue. Miroku handed him a towel from Kagome’s time, barely suppressing a grin at the dripping hanyou. “Trust me Inuyasha, wet dog is NOT the most pleasant smell.” Inuyasha shot him a death glare. “Shut up Miroku before I give you something unpleasant.” he vigorously rubbed his hair with the towel before throwing it back at the hentai monk.
He rolled his eyes when he heard Sango’s indignant gasp, cringed when he heard the loud slap then rolled his eyes again when he heard the monk say feebly that he was only trying to give her the towel and his hand accidentally brushed her backside. “I don’t need to hear it!” She steadily grew redder as she yelled at him.
Inuyasha gave an inner smile that quickly turned to a frown as they entered a clearing. There was something wrong with the air. It was so…..false. Sango and Miroku nodded at him. “ I sense it too.” They said at the same time. Inuyasha placed a hand on the hilt of his tetsaiga. A dark chuckle sounded throughout the clearing, “ So hostile?”. Inuyasha’s fist tightened around the hilt of his sword. “Naraku.” He growled. “So glad you remember me.” Naraku’s voice sent a shiver of hatred flying up Inuyasha’s spine. The air around them rippled, purple mist rolled into the clearing, the trees turned black and many eyes glowed red around them. Inuyasha swore under his breath. Shippo gave a small scream and scampered back the way they had come only to almost run into a large troll like demon. He squeaked then threw a bunch of leaves into the air. Multiple Shippos materialized into the air, the real one scurrying back to Inuyasha and the others.
“Feh, you expect us to be beaten by THESE pathetic demons?” Inuyasha said scathingly, making sure to pour as much scorn into his voice as he could. Naraku chuckled again, “ maybe not, under normal numbers. But I believe that you are quite outnumbered.”. Inuyasha growled underneath his breath, noticing that what Naraku said was quite true. He could smell demons everywhere. Out of the corner of his eye, Inuyasha could see Miroku hastily unwrapping the prayer beads around his wrist, “Wind tunnel!”. Inuyasha shielded his eyes from his flailing hair and the flying dirt. The demons screamed as they found themselves flying into the monk’s hand. Inuyasha grinned before he spotted the Saimyosho. “Miroku!” Sango had seen them too. Miroku looked up. He swore then bound up his hand again.
“Hiraikotsu!” that would be Sango. Inuyasha jerked out his prized fang and slashed at a demon that had gotten too close. He looked around to see Kirara sinking her fangs into a snake demon as Shippo chased around the smaller demons in his pink bubble form. Miroku was whacking a large demon over the head with his staff and Sango ran a demon through with her sword while she hurled her huge boomerang at others. He turned his attention back to a demon who was trying to club him over the head. “Wind scar!” the golden slashes blew through all the demons in front of him. He grinned, “Got em”. His grin disappeared as the pieces of the demons flew back together and as more demons lumbered in.
They were everywhere. No matter how many times they were killed, the demons kept on coming back. The group was growing tired. Sango’s hiraikotsu wasn’t flying as far, miroku’s sutras weren’t working as well, Shippo’s transforming was slower and Inuyasha’s testaiga was swinging more slowly. A demon sidestepped Sango’s boomerang and slashed at her unprotected chest. He was thwarted by a jingling staff. Miroku looked furious as he twirled the staff over his head and brought it down upon the demon’s head, cleaving it in two. Sango wiped the sweat off of her forehead with her sleeve and gave Miroku a weary smile.
Inuyasha gave a small sigh of relief and turned back to his own battle. A dragon demon striked at his wrist and Inuyasha didn’t move fast enough. The sword was thrown from its master’s hand. Inuyasha found his throat gripped by the huge demon’s clawed hand. His “Iron weaver Soul stealer!” wasn’t working and he could feel his demon blood boiling. Panicking, Inuyasha tried to push it down. He could see Shippo sniffing the air then turning pale. His friends had sensed it as well, they now watched him apprehensively.
