Tale of the End

I don’t own Inuyasha or any of the characters I love so much. I hope you all enjoy the story. It has been changed; I hope it was for the better. I had it posted on some other websites, but I lost interest in them. It was too time consuming to upload. This story is already complete so the chapters should come quickly.

~~~ Chapter 1~~~
The day had started out all wrong, so wrong. You know it has to be a bad day when your enemy exploits your bad luck and uses it to his advantage. Kagome and Inuyasha had got into another one of their famous fights earlier in the morning over their favorite topic. He had gone to see Kikyo again and Kagome had witnessed it yet again.
“If she is so precious to you, why don’t you get her to help you find those damned shards!” yelled Kagome. She was trying her hardest not to cry. She refused to do that in front of everyone.
“What are you bitching about now?” Inuyasha snapped as he emerged from the woods.
“I am not stupid you know! I woke up when you left early this morning.” Kagome’s voice lowered, “you worry me… when you go off by yourself… even though your… well… you.”
A fire blazed in her eyes when her gaze finally met his. “I saw them! I saw you going for them, for her! I saw you with her, holding her!”
Her eyes welled up with tears as she came to this realization yet again. No matter how hard she tried she couldn’t hold back the tears. It broke her heart to think that he would always choose her. “You still love her! You will always love her! So just get her to help you and leave me alone! I don’t belong here! I never did!” Angry and hurt with tears streaming down her cheeks she took off toward the well, cursing Inuyasha’s name the whole way.
Inuyasha didn’t even attempt to stop her. He knew she would ‘sit’ to all the way to hell if he did. So he just hung his head with shame and guilt and jumped in the closest tree. He hadn’t known Kagome had yet again witnessed another secret encounter. He couldn’t help going to her. She called out to him, she always did. He owed it to her to go. It was his fault she was dead. There was nothing he could do to ease Kagome’s pain, for he was the cause of all of it, so what was the point of going after her.
Miroku, Sango, and Shippou couldn’t believe their ears, their jaws hanging ajar in shock. They couldn’t believe that Inuyasha would go see her after she tried to kill Kagome and sided with Naraku. Kikyo had even admitted to the attempt.
Shippou was the first to call out to Kagome as she ran off through the forest. “Kagome! Please come back! Don’t leave me with that big meanie! He’s just a big idiot!”
Inuyasha growled at that comment and was about to jump off the perch he was on to thump him on the head when Miroku intervened. “Inuyasha, you can’t get mad at Shippou for stating the obvious. You were rather the big idiot. Haven’t I taught you anything about women? You never let them see you with another,” Miroku smirked and winked at Inuyasha.
With a thump Miroku hit the ground, grinning like a clown, sporting a nice red handprint on his face. Sango just looked at Inuyasha in disbelief and said, “I never thought you to be as low as that Inuyasha. How could you do something like that to her? Especially after Kikyo herself confirmed to you that she had tried to kill Kagome. I thought more of you than that Inuyasha,” and with that she turned around and headed back to the village, of course with the now recovered Miroku hot on her heels.
Shippou ran after her yelling, “Hey wait for me! Don’t leave me with him! Do you think that Kagome will stay home for…”
Inuyasha had thought to defend himself, but “but” was all that had come out of his mouth. He couldn’t defend himself. He couldn’t think of a valid reason to have done this to Kagome, but then again, he couldn’t understand why his encounters with Kikyo hurt her so much. He thought she of all people would sympathize with him and understand the why he had to go to her every time she called. But apparently she didn’t.
He went after no one and sat there kicking himself as the waves of guilt passed over him, ‘But nothing, they all have good reason to be mad. I lied to them all, even Kagome. And now she’s gone. I wonder if she will come back this time, or have I finally run her off forever? What would I do without her by my side?’
Inuyasha jumped up determined not to be down over a woman, “Keh, the bitch will come back, just like she always does.” He thought saying out loud would make him feel better, but the only thing it did was bring him down more.
He began to think about all the mean things he always said to her. He was always calling her names and snapping at her, and unless he pushed her too far she would just brush it off and smile. No, he didn’t treat her too well. Why should she come back?
As he stretched and took a deep breath in he thought he noticed a familiar stench in the air. He sniffed the air, twice to make sure he was just crazy, to make sure it was just his over reactive imagination. ‘I could have sworn I caught that filthy Naraku’s scent for a split second. I must have lost my mind. But it’d be better if Kagome were here to tell me if there was a jewel shard close by.’
He shook his head as she popped up in his brain again. He didn’t need her, it was convenient to have her around. He had to repeat this over and over to himself as he made his way back to the village.
Meanwhile, as Inuyasha made his way back to the village, a figure emerged from the woods. He had watched the entire display between Inuyasha and his friends, and now he laughed as Inuyasha disappeared from sound and sight. It was just as he thought. Inuyasha was so wrapped up in his own thoughts to even notice his presence. And getting rid of Kagome had been easier than he thought. “Stupid hanyou.” He cackled.
“Now that your miko has gone home, who is going to help you now? But don’t worry Inuyasha. Once I am finished with this era I will take care of hers as well. No one will escape me.”
Naraku spun around to face the person he felt behind him, not at all surprised to see Kikyo, and continued on. “As for you Kikyo, I suggest you watch the final battle. You will soon have your wish to drag Inuyasha into the underworld with you. You will know when it happens. Until then I don’t wish to see or smell your dead body.” He motioned his arm for her to leave and then turned back around, his back facing her.
“Naraku, I know you are confident, and you should be with a near whole jewel inside you, but you must not underestimate him. My reincarnation could not possibly hold that much power over him. Inuyasha is extremely powerful for a half-breed and not because of his desire to protect a useless miko. You will not underestimate him. His strength surpasses that of his brother’s and even his father’s. You will need me,” Kikyo coolly stated.
“Bitch!” Naraku screeched. How dare she call him weak? “I do not need your fucking help!”
He spun around to face her yet again sending an energy blast her way, but she had disappeared. “Creepy bitch,” he mumbled under his breath, “and good ridden.”
Kikyo shook her head as she made her way through the forest. She had tried to warn him, but he wouldn’t listen. “If he only knew how much trouble he was getting himself into. That girl is bound to come back and ruin everything for him.” A smile graced her lips. She had known that.
She walked in the woods outside the village and waited for the upcoming fight. Kagome would come back and ruin everything for him. There was no way that her reincarnation couldn’t have the power she did, if not more. A miko’s holy power only increases with time and purity of heart, and by what she’s seen; Kagome should be the most powerful priestess the world has ever seen.
Naraku had found out about the well, but he had no idea where her ‘home’ was. He had no clue that it led 500 years in the future and that Inuyasha was the only other person besides her to be able to transcend that time slip. Yes, Inuyasha had to be quite powerful indeed.
Naraku laughed as he followed the hanyou back to the village. He was making this way too easy.
