Retrieve of the Child
The silence was calming with the chill of the night and the glow of the moon in the sky. Blue eyes watched as dew gathered on the petal of a white flower as strong nimble fingers threaded through jet black silky hair of the child in his lap. The drop fell and splattered on his black boots. The soft wind barely rustled his wild dirty blonde hair and the small field of white flowers they were sitting in growing in the abandoned church. Nostrils flared as a faint familiar scent made it known against the prominent scent of rain. He gripped the little girl tighter momentarily as he turned his head in the direction of the entrance. Two pairs of illuminant blue eyes lighted on each other.
Both were of the same blood, yet son looked nothing like father. Thunder lighted the darkened clouds above them, in turn lighting the new figure’s long silver hair and pale skin while darkening his eyes. He had returned, but not for him.
He looked down at the child in his lap with kind, gentle blue eyes. Tenderly, he shook her. “Kagome; it is time to leave.” The child stirred, eldest watched as her cute nostrils flared, taking in the scent of family. Lids lifted sleepily to reveal another pair of shared light blue eyes, resembling ice like the father’s.
“Daddy’s here?” her quiet voice yawned, flashing small milk fangs speaking of her young infant yet intelligent age.
A spark of anger lighted in the young man’s eyes before being washed away with love for the young child. “Yes, Sephiroth is here for you.”
Tiny fists wiped at her eyes, trying to remove the sleep from those dazed eyes. Sitting up, unruly bangs much like her siblings, yet longer hair like her sires, fell into their respectful place.
“C’mon Kagome, it’s safe to return, yo.” A long red haired male spoke softly at the entrance of the dilapidated church, throwing a smile back at the child as he kept watch. A bald man on the other side grunted.
The child smiled at them.
“Kagome.” Her name fell like a command from the silver haired male’s lips before he turned and began to walk out of the building.
She turned to her sibling and hugged his waist, “I love you Cloud.”
The blonde returned the hug and watched as she ran towards the entrance, “I missed you Reno! But don’t worry; Big Brother took care of me while you and Rude helped Daddy with grown up stuff!” she took one hand of both males, their hands swallowing her small one.
Cloud smiled slightly at the innocent talk of his little sister. How, oh, how could Sephiroth use her like he was going to? She was so innocent and so trusting. As he leaned back to stare at the moon, he placed his trust into Reno and Rude to take care of her. After all, Cloud could only do so much considering his being exiled.
But he did pity Sephiroth when Kagome were to fall into her destiny. And a destiny it was.
